Alex looked up and spotted the machine in the order. It was too high to get to it and it would take too long to disable it. People had been shot before, he had no doupt that it was a real deal. He had seen his friends come back from a test before all bandaged up from a bullet being inbedded into their flesh.

When the wall came up he did nothing. He just crossed his arms and stood there. If he didn't heal or attack her then their wouldn't be a reason to shot him, right? He was fully aware he would end up doing what he was told. But he would prolong it as long as he could.

Nori shuffled forward and waved her fingers at Alex. "Hi! I'm sorry to be an incovenience to you, bu-"

She promptly tripped over her own two feet and screamed bloody murder as she fell. Her face smacked into the floor with a loud thwack. A very, very soft groan streamed out of her lips and seemed to mix with the pool of blood that was spreading beneath her. She struggled to a sitting position and held her noes, eyes scrunched tight. Her other hand she held out in a motion suggesting she wanted no one to move or come close.

"Ow... ow..." she sniffed loudly and then sneezed, spurting blood between her fingers. "Ew... ew... ow... I think I broke my nose this time... ew this is so gross..."

Alex jumped backward as Nori fell, with a look of disgust on his face.

"Are you serious? How can you be such a moron!?" He said. "How can you even do anything? Do you have no balance? What did you even trip on?" He said, his voice full of both anger and annoyance.

Alex's body was tence, he didn't want to have to do anything with Nori and her problems. It wasn't that he had a problem with blood, it was just the fact that is was everywhere now and he didn't want to touch her or it. The thought of braking a nose made him cringe.

Nori looked up at him and smiled weakly, bits of her previous happiness still breakign their way through her pain. "Mm-mm, it's okay, I'm probably not contageous or anything, though... I am kind of dripping... mm, this was one of my favorite jumpsuits..."

She struggled to her feet and did her best to wipe off her face, a look of pain crossing through her eyes each time she smeared blood onto her uniform.

"I guess I never grew out of my clumsy stage, but I never really seem to hurt anyone else, so I'm okay with it, I guess. It's okay, most people don't like me for it either, they think I'm uncomfortable to be around," she narrated cheerily.

"And that's why you don't hear about any gifted escaping." Kadvar thought for a while, "We'd have to find someone fairly dumb." He recalled a scientist and a janitor had passed by. Maybe she could somehow convince a scientist to open the cell doors? "A janitor might be able to convince a scientist to open the cell doors?" The janitor he had in mind though had looked far too clumsy, she'd surely mess something up. He looked at an empty cell door at the end of the hall. "Or we could get a scientist to open up the doors for us. All of us volunteer to go to the testing room, then escape while we're being transported."
“Hmm, okay.” Though agreeing with the plan she frowned. Still, she couldn't come up with anything better so that was that. “We'll have our powers to help, too, so that should make things easier,” she mused. She still didn't know what anyone's abilities were but surely someone had something just as “wildy dangerous and out of control” as the media claimed all gifteds to be. As for her, at least she knew that she could avoid taking a bullet.

She fell silent, thinking about what they'd do once they /were/ free but then realizing the possibilities were too grim for her just then. She'd like if she could just go back to her old life but that'd never happen now. She'd probably have to stay with the other gifteds or roam the streets on her own, unable to return home because then it'd be all too easy for the scientists to reclaim her.

She studied the man again, suddenly curious what his life had been like before everything changed by the arrival of his new ability. Before joining the ranks of the gifteds she'd never given much thought to them or even thought of them as people like herself. They were almost mythical and the media did nothing to emphasize their more human aspects. Now, she'd be just as inhuman as the rest of them. She shuddered.

“What /are/ your powers?” she asked again, trying to distract herself but also genuinely curious. Her own ability was nothing like the dramatic stuff the media loved to showcase and she wondered if maybe gifteds had been misrepresented.

Kadvar saw a gaurd pass by and sat down, knowing he'd look more suspicious if he stayed standing. Once the gaurd was gone he spoke, " I can create fire, sort of." He looked at the empty cell at the end of the hall. "That's Alex's cell, he's a healer." He looked at the other two cells in the room, "And I don't know about those two, they were just recently moved here."

Kadvar emptied a box of cards he had. He wrote a quick note with a crayon and shoved it in the box. He gave a quick explanation to Rina. "It's for Alex, I'll have to give this to him when he passes by." Alex's cell was the farthest from his own, and he could't tell him what they were planning without a gaurd hearing.

Her eyes got wide; his power definitely sounded more interesting than hers! As for Alex, his power sounded very useful in obvious ways. “I'm Rina by the way,” she said, reminded that she hadn't properly introduced herself yet.

Now that she'd been here for a solid amount of time without incident, she felt herself relax a fraction. She fiddled with the end of her jacket, wondering how long she'd be stuck in her strange outfit. This thought led her to wondering what other sort of personal items she might be granted. Going by what she'd just seen in the next cell, she might earn something as “spectacular” as a crayon and a box of cards. This was going to be a very long week.

While talking to the other gifted, she half-heartedly tried to make her hand phase through her pillow. So far she'd noticed that fear and nervousness seemed to trigger her ability but she was confident that she could use it without using such emotional stressors. Now that she had this ability she might as well use it for all it was worth. She felt silly pressing her palm into the pillow, then the mattress, and then trying her dark blue flip flop. Each time she felt something stirring inside herself but she failed to phase. She thought aloud, “It's kind of weird that we can do stuff like this. I mean, to move our arms or legs we use arm or leg muscles, right? When you use fire or Alex heals, I wonder which part of the body controls that.” After a beat she added, sheepish, “I guess that's what the scientists want to find out, among other things. Still, to kidnap us and keep us here against our will? That's ridiculous! I bet that a lot of gifteds, if asked in a reasonable and respectable way, would be fine with cooperating for the good of science – or whatever.” She crossed her arms, no longer in the mood for experimentation.

Lucius quickly reconized Alex's techique to simply do nothing. Sighing, Lucius leaned over to the mic again.

"You got one minute to heal her or I will have to go with some extra," He paused, narrowing his eyes and smiling softly. "Persuasion."

Lucius looked at the camras set in the room rather than looking through the one way glass. It was clearier that way. He needed to see all of Alex's movements to be ready if Alex went for Nori. In a way that was threatening of course. Lucius started messing with his hands, slightly nervous and a little impatient. He want this over with and Nori out of that room.

(Cont)

Alex scowled at Nori, not really sure what to make of her.

"You got a waterfall of blood coming out of your nose and all your worried about is that ugly jumpsuit?" He said. He looked down at his own clothing. It was a plain grey color and was slightly too big for him. On the rim of the pants and the shoulders of the shirt it had 63 stamped on it.

"They got quite a lot of ugly outfits you can use, trust me." He said.

Alex's body stiffened when he heard Lucius again. He was sure Lucius' 'persuasion' wasn't anything nice. It may be that gun, though he doupted Lucius would go that far just because Alex wasn't doing anything. Still, this room could do quite a lot of things. He rolled his eyes and sighed deeply.

"Fine." He said. "Come here." He said to Nori. He wasn't going to do anything he didn't have to, that encluded walking.

She walked over to him and stood awkwardly, wondering what to do next.

"So like... Do you just touch and heal me, or... like..."

The dark spots that had been fringing her vision swarmed across her eyes and caused her to sway unsteadily. She blinked in an owlish fasion and grabbed her head between her hands as if trying to steady her spinning mind. Her thoughts jumbled together in a way that reminded her of items in a box, all placed neatly together until their container tipped on a side and threw them into confusion.

"Wow, this is a weird sensation..." she said breathlessly.

"That's not why the scientists kidnap us. They do it because the public is afraid of us." He had seen how the staff in the building looked at them. They looked at them with fear and awe in their eyes like they were looking at a caged animal. He then realized he hadn't introduced himself to the kid, "I'm Kadvar. I've been here for a few years." He held the box that now contained the note. It was better to conceal the note, elsewise the gaurds would get suspicious. He wondered when Alex would be headed back to his cell.

When Nori came up to Alex he rather roughly place his hand right on her face. It almost could be consetered a slap. The moment his hand came in contact with her his mind was filled with information.

He knew how the body was meant to work, what each part did and how it did it. Most importantly, he knew what was incorrect. This was information Alex was never taught, and once this was over he wouldn't be able to recall the information again.

He was able to pinpoint the problem and picture what it was meant to be like. Just thinking that activated his gift and in about a half a second the healing was done. He pulled away and wipped the blood from his hand on his uniform with a look of disgust.

Nori froze in place and was unable to move even after Alex had pulled his hand away. She slowly raised a hand up to her nose and wiped away whatever left over blood she could, then looked up at him.

"Gomawo... Thank you, I mean..." she said with an innocent, child-like honesty that had knocked better men off their feet before.

She looked down at her sleeves and stared for a long, long time, then turned back to the one-way window and beamed brightly.

"Mr. Superior! Mr. Superior! I feel better! Look, no more bleeding!" She clasped her hands and giggled breathlessly. "Now I don't have to worry about going home! I can get back to work!"

Lucius rolled his eyes. He had no problem letting his annoyance show through into his expression since while Nori was in that room, she couldn't see him. He took a deep breath then said,

"I told you my name is Lucius, please use it."

Lucius wanted to look at the data he had collected, but now it was time to get Nori back out. He could just get the wall down again, but at the moment Nori was too close to Alex and she would still be stuck on the wrong side of the room.

"Miss Berns, please go to the door." He said.

Lab Rats (Gifted Roleplay)
Setting

All the characters are at a lab in a remote island. All the guards and scientists live in buildings around the lab. Most of the lab is under ground. The lab is very guarded and is pretty much impossable to excape from. There are rooms of about five Gifteds all in their own cell, but they are able to see each other and speak to each other.

Plot

In our world, we expect we all have the same kinds of abilities, we can all do the same things, it all just depends on what you practice. However that believe is wrong, there are people born with strange, fantastic and even dangerous powers known as Gifteds. It doesn't matter if the parents are Gifted, the children produced seem to be randomly Gifted or non-Gifted.

Of course normal people fear the Gifteds, they are stronger than them, more dangerous than them and they have no way of knowing who is who. That's why when people learned of them the hunt for Gifteds started almost immediately.

The caught Gifteds were sent away to a place only known as 'The Labs' where they are experimented on to find their weaknesses and their strengths. Their final goal is to find a way to control them and use them for wars.
