Lucius sat at the computer and for a few moments did nothing, just stared at the screen. This is where some programing came into play. This computer could do very complex things but only if you told it how to do it correctly. After thinking it over he started typing. He needed to set it to target only Alex in case he caused trouble. The weapon of choice was a dart that simulated pain, but only just caused a pinprick. Even if the computer messed up it wouldn't really hurt Nori longterm. Lucius leaned back in his chair and looked at Nori.

"Your going to have to go in there," He explained. "But don't worry, I have set this to target Alex if he tries anything." He then got the computer to lower a wall so that Alex was blocked from the door. Now Nori could go in without Alex going out.

Alex hated this room. He couldn't hear or see anything on the outside unless the people wanted him to but they could hear and see anything inside it. They could make pretty much anything happen in it. Last time someone had half flooded the room with him in it. They didn't even bother to give him dry clothes after.

Alex just stood there awkwardly, not really knowing what to do or what to expect. He had no idea what they were doing on the other side of these walls. He flinched a little when he heard machinery turn on and bring down yet another wall.

Nori ambled in through the door with her hands clasped behind her back, the picture of a good little church girl with a foolish looking grin. As the door shut behind her she glanced back at Lucius and gave him another smile of reassurance.

"Mm-mm! It'll be fine, Nori! Besides, not really anything to lose, right?" she said cheerfully to herself.

She wasn't truly being honest with herself - she was certainly nervous, which showed through increased bleeding of her nose and her slightly shaking hands. Spots started to show in her vision, most likely from all of the blood she had been losing combined with fear, but she put on a brave face and decided to tough it out.

Kadvar was sitting on the bed in his cell. He had a few privelages: A table lamp, a desk, a deck of cards, and some paper and a black crayon. The deck of cards took weeks to get, as the scientists were worried since playing cards were suprisingly, awefully flammable. The paper they were able to give him without too much concern, but a pen they refused to give him. It was far too easy to use it as a weapon. Instead they provided him a single crayon. All of the furniture was set on the left side of the room, so if he had accidentally set the furniture on fire, he was at least relatively safe on one side of the cell.

He had seen Alexander, Some scientists, and a janitor pass by earlier. Since when did they let Janitors even make contact with a gifted? A short time later Micha had approached his cell. She always checked on the prisoners at the same time every day. "Stand up," she order. Kadvar stood up, and already knowing what her next command would be, turned in a full circle. She was checking for any items he shouldn't have.

Micha saw nothing unusual, "Continue." Micha headed towards Rina. She walked up to Rina's cell. She knew she was newer than Kadvar to the lab, and more likely more rebellious. A scientist had been in her cage earlier and had noticed his taser had gone missing afterwards. "Back!," she ordered. Only when Rina moved back did she enter the cage. Knowing she may have a weapon, Micha showed that she had a gun. "Stay where you are." She looked through any furniture she had before turning to her. It was clear she was confused, "If you have a taser I suggest you drop it now. I am armed and will shoot if you attack."
Rina March, a young girl who'd made the mistake of investigating a lighthouse with her friends. They'd been looking for ghosts and fooling around when the aged building collapsed on them. Her friends had only been mildly injured but Rina had been unlucky enough to be right beneath where the ceiling had given way. She /would/ have been seriously injured or even killed if her ability hadn't kicked in right then. The police had been called to “save” Rina or at least recover her body but when she'd been found partially /inside/ the debris a completely different course of action was taken. Without her parents knowledge she was taken to a cell, drugged, then relocated to a scientific facility. She was only fourteen.

She sat up, groggy from whatever it was they'd given her. She was still wearing her golden one piece swimsuit, denim jacket, and green khaki shorts. She had on one flip flop and for a moment thought the other was lost forever but it was beside her cot of a bed. The room was pretty basic but was a step up from the prison cell she'd started the night in. Despite her jacket she was a bit cold, likely because of the swimsuit and shorts. She rubbed her arms and sat up, just then noticing the cells beside her and the other teenagers and young adults trapped here. She hadn't had her ability long and already she'd fallen prey to one of the rumoured strongholds that kept people like her for experimentation.

In the hall was a woman with a gun, ordering a man in a cell to stand for inspection. Rina's heart began to race at the realization that she'd likely be told to stand next, the reality of the situation sinking in with that thought. She became very still then remembered what had brought her here in the first place as she slowly began to sink through her bed. Her eyes got wide and she screamed, scrambling away from the bed and towards the front of her cell. As she did so, a very strong electric current conducted through the floor shocked her as she crossed some invisible boundary. She screamed again, beginning to feel hysterical. Was this her life now? She jumped upon the bed she'd just escaped from and looked around warily for anything else that might suddenly inflict pain. She felt like the girls that would climb on furniture to avoid spiders and other tiny things that were definitely much less harmful than surprise electricity.

With all that, of course she made the guard more aware of her. She stepped off the bed and moved back at the guards command, anxiously eyeing the gun all the while. She held up her hands to show she was unarmed and said, “I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause a ruckus.” Meanwhile a million thoughts raced for attention in her mind such as /If I had control of my new ability I'd be safe,/ and /The door's open! Will I get shocked again if I made a move for it?/ Without thinking about it she started tensing for a sprint, leaning towards the open doorway.
Micha quickly picked up what she was planning to do. In battle people more often than not leaned foreward before the moment they ran. She only had a moment to prepare herself before Rina began bolting for the opened cell door. Micha held out her leg causing Rina to fall to the ground. "Stand down!" She ordered but Rina insisted on running. Clearly the girl was hysteric.

The gaurd raised her gun; she didn't have a nonlethal weapon with her so she would try to simply disable the girl. Her gun was raised and she fired at Rina's leg, only for the bullet to bounce off. She was a gifted with a defensive ability, why was she not informed of this? The girl must have been brand new for the scientists to not have warned her of this. Micha hoped she wouldn't get past the electric barrier, but she did. Micha immediatly pulled out her radio, "Escaped prisiner from cell 16! She's heading down the east corridor!" She ran while talking in the radio. Two more gaurds quickly blocked Rina's path and raised their guns, "Stop!"

Kadvar saw all of this take place and quickly recognized this girl was brand new to the facility. He figured she couldn't keep using her gift forever. He saw her stop when gaurds started aiming their weapons at her. He could see she was thinking about running past them. She was hysteric and would probably get herself killed in her panic. Maybe she'd listen to a fellow gifted, or maybe she thought they were prisinors

"I'd stop." Rina looked at him, at least she was calming down. "You can't use your gift forever. We're on an island. Even if you can make it past the gaurds you couldn't get off the island." He noticed the gaurds still had their guns aimed at Rina. "I'd stop kid."

((I'll role with it this time but please do not decide for me what my character is going to do. Thank you.))

The guard took a beat to respond, which seemed like eternity to Rina. Nervous, she started sinking into the floor,  a repeat of the bed incident. Once again she panicked and scrambled forward, walking forward and through the bed. As she stepped towards the guard she seemed to misinterpret Rina's actions and decided to fire at her leg. Since Rina was still intangible, it passed through harmlessly but that didn't mean it didn't have an effect. Rina, not realizing yet that she was unharmed, panicked and began to run, passing right through the woman. As she crossed over the electric barrier it tried to buzz her again but since she was intangible she felt it as though from far away. She found herself in the hall, breathing hard and not knowing what to do.

She didn't know where she was, who these people were, or what they planned to do to her. What she did know is that pretty much just tripping over herself had gotten her shot at. The ground felt more solid beneath her feet again and she noted she wasn't hurt. She wanted to continue using her ability but she hardly knew how it worked, much less how to control it. At the end of the hall more guards appeared and were pointing their guns at her. The man who'd just been inspected by the guard woman urged her to stop, explaining how they were on an island. Her swirl of emotions became too much and she started to cry. She held up her hands in surrender, saying to her fellow prisoner, “Are we trapped here forever, then? There has to be a way out.” She wanted to say more but the guards were getting closer and would hear her conspiring. She hoped this slip up wouldn't make them relocate her again and that they'd be understanding. The moment that thought finished crossing through her mind she felt like gagging herself and was glad she hadn't said such a dumb thing aloud. She silently prayed they wouldn't kill her just yet.
Kadvar thought about escaping a long time ago, though never found a good time. He noticed the distance between his cell and Rina's cell was short; she'd be able to talk to him from such a short distance. "We can talk later, when the gaurds are gone." Kadvar saw the gaurds approaching and remained quiet. If they heard them conspiring they may move her to a new cell. He doubted they'd move her for this, though they would most likely make quite a few changes to her cell. He wondered how they knew she was gifted if the scientists hadn't yet known what her gift was.
Micha grabbed Rina by the arm and escorted her to her cell. Having been in the army she was quick to make assumptions. It was obvious now that the kid was simply frightened. She'd have to talk to some scientists about having an engineer better reinforce her cell, once, of course, the scientists figured out how to reinforce her cell. She herded her into her cell before closing the cell wall. More tests clearly had to be done on her, it was too easy for her to escape. She called off the other gaurds and continued her normal inspection of the gifted which took her out of the corridor.
She nodded to Kadvar and tried not to look too sulky when the guards approached. Micha then led Rina back to her cell and wordlessly shut the door behind herself and continued down the hall. Rina waited until she was gone before speaking again. She wiped at her face then asked Kadvar, “So, erm, what can you do?” She didn't yet know the proper etiquette for gifted to gifted interactions but she hoped she hadn't just broken a rule. Her eyes darted around, taking in the other gifteds, the set-up of the cell, and if there were any cameras. She saw one in the hall, reminding her of the one at her school back home, but so far as she could tell there wasn't any in her or Kadvar's cells. “I guess I can walk through walls,” she added, shrugging, though inwardly she felt sick at the idea.
Kadvar looked around for gaurds. When he was sure none were present he spoke, "To escape we'd need someone to create chaos in a room far from here. There's one gifted I've heard of that can do that, but the only way we'd be able to see him is in the testing room. We'd also need to get a gaurd or scientist in our favor, we need them to unlock the doors and maybe mess with the camera feed. We'll also want to get the other three gifted in the room involved. The more people we have the better." He saw another gaurd pass by and remained silent until they passed the corridor. "And most importantly, we can't get caught conspiring, they'll move us all and make our plans useless."

Kadvar thought for a minute of how they'd do this. "I can contact the gifted that can cause a distraction, but I'll have to get a hold of a scientist. The only way to see gifted from other rooms is in the testing labs. The hardest part is getting a gaurd or scientist involved. Also, we'd have to do all this on a day the supply boats came, the last Monday of the month."

Rina sat on her bed and faced him as he spoke. He'd clearly put a lot of thought into this and for that she was thankful. Her despair was already lessening and she began to feel a little hopeful. Still, one part of the plan seemed flawed. “I don't think we'll get a scientist on our side,” she said regretfully, feeling like the “wet blanket” as her dad would say. As she thought on it some more she became even more bitter. “Why would someone who thinks it's okay to /do/ this kind of thing want to help us?” Her words were harsh but the tone was sad and deflating. She let out a sigh and flopped back on the bed. She then sat up suddenly. “That's only a week away!” They'd either have to wait another month or go ahead and go for it soon. She looked over to the other gifteds, wondering if they'd help when the time came.

Lucius leaned toward to speak into a microphone and said,

"Alex, I need you do heal whatever is wrong with Nori. If you do anything other than that you'll get shot." He explained.

Lucius made the machine in the order turn back and forth a few times so it would make a sound and show Alex he wasn't bluffing. Lucius decided to not tell him it wasn't real bullets. It was best to make him think it was a real gun rather than just one that will shoot a simulation of a gun wound. Lucius then slowly raised the wall that protected Nori.

Lab Rats (Gifted Roleplay)
Setting

All the characters are at a lab in a remote island. All the guards and scientists live in buildings around the lab. Most of the lab is under ground. The lab is very guarded and is pretty much impossable to excape from. There are rooms of about five Gifteds all in their own cell, but they are able to see each other and speak to each other.

Plot

In our world, we expect we all have the same kinds of abilities, we can all do the same things, it all just depends on what you practice. However that believe is wrong, there are people born with strange, fantastic and even dangerous powers known as Gifteds. It doesn't matter if the parents are Gifted, the children produced seem to be randomly Gifted or non-Gifted.

Of course normal people fear the Gifteds, they are stronger than them, more dangerous than them and they have no way of knowing who is who. That's why when people learned of them the hunt for Gifteds started almost immediately.

The caught Gifteds were sent away to a place only known as 'The Labs' where they are experimented on to find their weaknesses and their strengths. Their final goal is to find a way to control them and use them for wars.

History

Lucius brought Nori and Alex for a test to see if Alex could heal Nori's sickness.

Alex was drugged in order to savely bring him back to his cell.

Kadvar told Alex his plans to excape by writing on a card and passing it to him.

Rules

Please play as the minority group so we don't get overflowed with one type of character.

Please look at other characters and do not make Gifteds with a power someone already has.

All powers must have weaknesses. For example, most Gifteds will loose control of their ability while under stress.

Only one power for each Gifted.

Both guards and scientists carry weapons, but scientists will only use them if a guard isn't around.
