Lucius sighed deeply, a little annoyed. He was still upset about what had happened in the testing room that day. Not only did they get burned, but also Lucius had let his anger out on the guards. Something he never did.

Lucius did not understand why Kadvar purposely said and did things to anger him. Especially when he had the power to very easily get back at him. Lucius should really be the last person to get on the bad side of for Kadvar.

"I got a new one, since I could not be seen going around in a burnt one." He said. "That was a older coat anyway and you gave me a very good reason to get the labs to get me a new one." It wasn't a lie, the coat was actually one of the older ones.

Kadvar really didn't like Lucius. He didn't like how he treated gifteds opposed to humans. He didn't like his egotistical attitude he seemed to hide from normal people. He wondered if he could burn him from here, and subtly tried to test if he could. Evidently he couldn't, but he wanted the scientist to think he could. At least then he'd have something substantial to threaten him with.

"What do you think you'd look like without eyebrows?" The hair singing incident proved that he could summon his ability on whim at some level. Just a barely harmful one. Of course it was very rare that he was able to even do that, as he hadn't been able to do so again thus far.

Lucius did not feel very threatened by Kadvar's threatening words. He smiled softly, looking almost amused. He knew full well the Kadvar had pretty much no control over his gift at all. Making flames willingly was a rarity for him.

"You have little to no control over your gift. I highly doupt that you can actually summon flames. If you can somehow manage that, I do not beleive that you would able to make them go where you want them to." Lucius said. He knew that there was that off chance that Kadvar actually pulled it off. But if he did then it would give Lucius another idea on tests. He wouldn't care much if he was temporarly harmed, there were many sciencests like that.

Kadvar remembered he had burned his desk a few days ago. It hadn't been a big flame. Sure he was slightly angry at another gifted, but he was somewhat angry with Lucius now. Maybe, just maybe he could pull it off. He would show him, wipe that smug look off his face. He couldn't quite remember how to actually summon his ability, maybe if he focused? He tried to focus, nothing. Not even a spark. Anger was a trigger that barely ever worked. Fear could, if he saw a weapon. Maybe he could provoke a guard? Probably not worth it.

He couldn't just give up, and confirm Lucius' belief. He tried again, focusing didn't work. It didn't work with the desk. He tried rubbing his wrists together to heat them up. Nothing. In the end he felt like an idiot. He glared at Lucius, but it was clear he gave up.

Suddenly a small flame appeared in Alex's cell. It was nowhere near Alex, and without much fuel it wouldn't last long. "Your kidding." He wasn't even looking at Alex!

Alex felt that it was best to not get into this arguement. Kadvar already did a good job of getting into trouble on his own. Plus Alex didn't think he could really add anything to it. Of course he knew what had happened in the testing room, but he wasn't there and therefore not a part of it.

He really hoped that Kadvar would be able to burn the amused expression off of Lucius's face. The last place he expected to see a flame was in his cell. Even though it was small it still startled him.

Using his foot he stomped out the fire. He then looked over at Kadvar with an expresion that clearly said, 'Really?'

Lucius laughed when he saw the fire in the competely wrong place. It was impressive for Kadvar to actually create a fire in the first place, but he still had little control of it.

"Oh you have such wonderful aim." Lucius said, his voice lassed with sarcasm. The fire was very easily killed by Alex since it was so small and weak. It seemed that Kadvar could only make the impressive fires when he felt he was in danger.

"The pyromaniac strikes again!" Lucius said, and then pretented to be hurt in a over dramatic way. He knew he was pushing it and maybe he would get Kadvar angery enough to actually cause harm. However Lucius kind consetered it as a mini test to see if anger had the same affect as fear. Plus this room was equiped with very sensitive fire detecters and the fire would only live to be a few seconds old.

Kadvar noticed what Alex's expression meant quickly, "I wasn't even trying that time!" Maybe there was a delay? How was he suppose to know. Then he heard Lucius taunting him. He had been in a few fights when he was younger. If anger activated his ability all the time he would have burned them, but he never did. Anger wasn't a reliable trigger for him, unlike some other fire gifteds. He was angry, nothing happened though. If he was closer he may or may not have grabbed his neck by now, or at least injured him in some way.

He tried again but no fire. Just one fire was all he asked for. Just one. He rubbed his head which still ached a little from a few days ago. Suddenly his shoe caught fire. It was only a small flame. He yelped and kicked the shoe off, "Oh no no no no, no." That was not suppose to happen, that can't happen, can it? He hadn't ever set himself on fire in his entire time being here. "That is not okay." His skin would burn just like a normal person. Suddenly the sprinklers went off again. His mild head injury could have played a role in that, and possibly the delay when setting the first fire.

Lucius was quite entertained by the whole event. The fact that Kadvar set fire to himself was quite hilarious. Seconds after the water started pouring in Kadvar's cell the guard finnally showed up.

He apologized for the delay then went to Alex's cell. He used one hand to unlock the door and open it, the other hand was rested on his weapon. Alex took up his usual tense and defencive stance. Even from a distance Lucius could tell that Alex was looking for a way to attack the guard in someway. But everthing was removed from his cell. All he had left was his bed and a very thin blanket that could be easily torn. That was so if he tried to suffocate someone with it again.

When the guard reached for him, Alex ducked away. The guard was a bit too quick to pull out a weapon in Lucius' opinion. The guard took out his taser and jammed it into Alex's side. The gifted promptly fell onto the floor and when he was recovering the cuffs were placed around his wrists.

Kadvar flinched to see Alex tased. His ability could activate when others were in danger. "Isn't that a little excessive?" His wrists heated up like he created another fire, but where was it? There was a fire, he could smell it. Was it in the walls? No, probably not. The fire alarms went off, where was the fire? He was sick of his gift about now. The sprinklers didn't go off again so it wasn't in his cell. It wasn't Lucius, or Alex, or the guard.

His gift was starting to get on his nerves. "Something may or may not be on fire." He wished for once his gift would agree with him, that the guard or Lucius was the danger. What threat did Alex's cell or his shoes face? Nothing, that's what.

The guard forced Alex to his feet, this was more difficult than it seemed because Alex did not help him at all in lifting him. Rather Alex went limp just to make it harder on him. Once the guard had managed to get him up he turned around to look at Kadvar.

"What did you do?" He said angerly.

Alex knew excactly what was on fire, but he thought it was best to let the guard figure it out for himself. They were very nice looking shoes and Alex very much enjoyed watching them melt and burn.

It took a for moments more before the guard realised this. When he did he shook the shoes off then patted them out. They were pretty well burnt.

Kadvar was glad that his gift was useful for once. He was pleased with himself that he had completely ruined the guards shoes. "Oh, what a shame. Those looked like such nice ones too." It would be embarresing for the guard to walk around the lab in socks. The guard was angry with him, but he doubted the guard could do anything while holding Alex. He was relieved he hadn't seriously burned anyone. Sure he didn't like the guard and hated Lucius, but he wasn't a killer.

He turned to look at Lucius, "I trust he won't come back in a stretcher?" He couldn't do much if Alex did come back in a gurney. He could however stall or be difficult in any future tests with Lucius. He could also - if he was lucky - cause need for Lucius to file an accident report. He heard those take forever to do from overhearing scientists.

Alex was quite amused by watching the guard try to slip the ruined shoes back on. The guard decided it was best to not argue with Kadvar, he had already been late and held Lucius up once already.

Lucius grinned softly, dispite the fact that Kadvar had actually got someone he was aiming for, Lucius didn't seem worried.

"There is no guarantee of that." He said.

Alex refused to move or take any steps at all. So the guard had to basicly push Alex out of the cell with his feet skidding on the ground.

"If you don't start walking I'll tase you again." The guard warned. Alex sighed deeply and rolled his bright green eyes.

"Fine." He said.

Verner already had Duncan in the testing room, the guard had managed to get out without the speed gifted escaping. All he was doing now was waiting for Lucius. Lucius was later than Verner thought he'd be. He checked the clock, figuring Alexander must be a more difficult gifted than his papers made him out to be. If that was even possible. He set up the computer and ensured it was ready to run before Lucius would get here.

He typed a few commands, not actually running any tests but checking a few of the basic equipment. Just making sure the computer commands were working properly. Surely he was making the gifted nervous, he spoke into the microphone, "I haven't started testing yet." It was important to ensure the computer commands worked as fast as they needed to, just standard procedure.

Duncan passed nervously in the room. He did not have much pent up energy because of the day before, however the act of moving helped him with his stress. Staying still never helped much with his mood, no matter what was happening around him.

He had an aweful feeling that Alex would be part of this test. That fact that Verner had papers with Alex's name on it along with the other sciencist questioning him about it. It just made sence. So when Verner told him that he hadn't even started the test yet, Duncan wasn't suprised.
"Could you please tell me what we are doing this time?" He asked.
Verner felt it was best for the gifted not to know. "No can do," he spoke into the microphone. If he told Duncan, the poor gifted would probably just stress over the test they were going to do. He would find out for himself what they were doing soon enough. The computer commands were working properly and quickly enough for the test they'd be doing. All there was to do now was wait for Lucius.

He took the papers from the clipboard and tossed them into a nearby bin. He then turned toward the guard, "Any sign of them yet?" The guard walked outside, then walked back in. The guard shrugged. There wasn't much they could do now but wait.

Lab Rats (Gifted Roleplay)
Setting

All the characters are at a lab in a remote island. All the guards and scientists live in buildings around the lab. Most of the lab is under ground. The lab is very guarded and is pretty much impossable to excape from. There are rooms of about five Gifteds all in their own cell, but they are able to see each other and speak to each other.

Plot

In our world, we expect we all have the same kinds of abilities, we can all do the same things, it all just depends on what you practice. However that believe is wrong, there are people born with strange, fantastic and even dangerous powers known as Gifteds. It doesn't matter if the parents are Gifted, the children produced seem to be randomly Gifted or non-Gifted.

Of course normal people fear the Gifteds, they are stronger than them, more dangerous than them and they have no way of knowing who is who. That's why when people learned of them the hunt for Gifteds started almost immediately.

The caught Gifteds were sent away to a place only known as 'The Labs' where they are experimented on to find their weaknesses and their strengths. Their final goal is to find a way to control them and use them for wars.

Rules

Please play as the minority group so we don't get overflowed with one type of character.

Please look at other characters and do not make Gifteds with a power someone already has.

All powers must have weaknesses. For example, most Gifteds will loose control of their ability while under stress.

Only one power for each Gifted.

Both guards and scientists carry weapons, but scientists will only use them if a guard isn't around.
