Xevius was alking through and onld tunnel, back to the center of the maze.  Suddenly, he heard a noise, like pebbles falling...  He looked up.  It was caving in!  Xevius would be crushed to smitherines!  He tried to dive away, but to no avail.  he ceiling caved in, and, surprisingly, a large female dragon fell out of the thin ceiling ont top of him!  He wormed out, apologizing to the female dragon. (Malvada)  He hauled himself into the artificial cave, and smelled another she-dragon.  He calculated that she was probably a life dragon, and that she probably had chicks, or else eggs.  He began to walk towards the entance of the cave, not wanting to disturb anyone else at this late hour.  He couldn't go back into the tunnel, because Malvada had caved in the whole thing, causing a deep trench across the middle of the cave floor.

Midnight settled down and fell asleep.

Midnight walked upon a galaxy, the stars shimmering under her paws. She walked forward, unaware it was a dream. She came to a pool-like place and looked into her reflection. A young dragon did not look back. Instead she saw a grown dragon that immitaded her moves. Everytime it moved small white and yellow splotches flashed and twinkled and it lookd exactly like the night sky. Midnight leaned forward, toching the water. The image rippled and showed her brother and sister in the same world she was. "Oak, Skye! Are you guys here to?" she called out and stoped for a response.

She didn't wake when the middle of the cave caved in.

Celestia kept her chicks under her wing, she'd spotted Xevius when the floor of the previous lair caved in. Celestia would be a fool to expect Xevius to not drop by. She also wondered where she could get the whole prophecy. She knew her family only knew bits of it, not enough to piece it together. She'd have to ask Coal, Whitefire... heck Lightning might have the answer but Celestia figured Lightning hated her and wouldn't tell her anything. She instinctively knew there was something strange about her chicks all three of them. But they were her chicks and she had alot to teach them, and they were hers to protect and nurture untill they left the 'nest'.

Oak had been in his own dream, and did not awaken when the floor caved in either.  In the start of the dream, he had been envoloped by a bright, harsh  flash of light.  Suddenly, he felt the draconic mental equivilent of a small child getting a bear hug from a large man, being lifted off the ground, and not being able to breath.  Then a voice in his head, a loud one at that, started laughing merrily, and said "Boy, you're going to make a fine physical embodiment one day!" "What!?!" Oak mumbled in response, more than a bit confused.  "Eh, nothing your mother can't explain, oncce she catches on at least." the voice paused a moment.  "Now," it said, "We've got to stay focused.  I wan't you to go show your sisters who's boss, got it?Don't forget to get on your mother's nerves once in a while as well.  Got it?" Oak nodded vigorously. He could already tell he was good at that kind of thing.  Suddenly, helooked up and noticed Midnight staring at him, through some sort of shimmering barrier, was that...  Water?  Weird.

Celestia woke up in the collapsed dirt of her den floor and started assesing the damage, the roof was still stable so she started working on modifying the den. She turned the trench into a sort of depression that could be turned into a bed and created another such depression before taking the loose dirt outside and thinking along the lines of she could grow a garden. She started getting rocks and such, she could even dig a pond and get lilly pads and cattails. She was going to have a hobby she could use, she might be able to bring small animals back for her chicks to catch, good practice. First she'd need a fence for that. But she remembered she had to hunt and the chicks could get hurt easily if they came with her. She told the chicks "Wait in the den while I go get you three something to eat." She left no room for argument. The den had some ledges that Celestia left for her chicks to climb on she'd bring back branches for them to climb on after she was done hunting...

Skye found her collection, apparently her mother had fished it all out of the dirt but scattered it for her to find, then she spotted the ledges and started practicing gliding with her well developed wings. She went from ledge to ledge giggling at the sensation of air passing her wings. Skye was very happy gliding around the den and seeing her siblings look up at her and trying to glide too but falling down. Oak seemed better off on the ground anyways, but her sister was trying very hard but her wings wern't big enough for her to use yet. Skye would most likely have massive wings her whole life. She folded her wings in slightly and the membrane kept tight enough for her to keep going. She was a dragon of the sky, but she was happy on the ground with her family too...

Xevius had doubled around in the night, unable to identify where he was, and had concluded that he would need to ask the she-dragon who owned the artificial cave for directions.  Just as Celestia was finished giving here chicks instructions, he crashed into a tree directly in front of the entrance of the cave, shaking the ceiling insinde and letting a few clods of dirt loose.  He picked himself up, used to the crashes that resulted from speedflight, and asked Celestia "Would you happen to know the was to the nearest tunnel entrance?  I haven't been above ground here in a long while, and I'm afraid I've forgotten which way it is to the maze." Xevius quietly waited for a response, noticing a few things about Celestia's appearence, and taking them into his calculations.  He was only so polite because female dragons with chicks were aggresive.
The cave had fallen in before Malvada was able to get out of the way, she didn't even have time to let out a call for help, now she was in the dark hole and her one leg hurt like heck, she didn't cry over it, no that was not an option and her body would not let her, but she wanted to, she figured she had broken her leg as she tried to stand up on the uneven rock but nearly fell again, she managed to balance herself and just barely caught a glimps of the animal that ran off, she didn't even bother to go after him, the small space was making it hard to fly out, but she managed to make it, she colapsed on her side just outside the den enterance and winced in silence at the pain.
Celestia turned around when Malvada dragged herself outside. Celestia had dug her out but missed the injury. Celestia heard Xevius and shook her head as she walked over and looked at the injury. "Well it's broken but just a fracture. If we keep it straight and you stay off it it'll heal properly..." I'll get a stick that I can use for a splint... I wish I had opposable thumbs. That's one thing that kitsune have over dragons if I see one of the furballs I'll ask..." Celestia added possibly unnessisary "Don't move that leg." Celestia trotted off and spotted a plant that could be used as pain killers and used a wing to carry it. She found a splint stick and sinew she could use to bind the stick and keep it in place, The sinew was from a kill made by something else too rotten to eat. It smelled but would do. Celestia spotted a weeping fox, normal foxes didn't cry so it had to be a kitsune. They understood dragons and for some reason dragons understood them. She asked "Why are you so upset?" The kitsune sniffled "My mate is dead... Killed in the recent fire... I don't know if I can raise my kits alone... We barely get by..." Celestia decided to strike up a deal, "Listen I have chicks of my own and no male around to try to hurt them, I also have a she dragon I'm teaching. Most dragons around here are not educated and she wants to learn.  We had a cave in on the den floor and she broke her leg. Tend to it and you can move in. I bet I can teach your chicks a thing or two as well..." The kitsune nodded and grabbed her three kits following Celestia.
Malvada layed motionless on the ground feeling nearly helpless, well duh she wasn't going to move her leg but she still wasn't going to just lay there either.  She winced as she turned over again avoiding laying on top of her fractured leg and managed to get off the ground and stand up on her three good legs.  She limped around the outside of the cave just snooping around the bushes and some of the trees, if she wasn'tgoing to be able to use her one leg she was going to be active on one way or another not just lay there vonerable to whatever wanted to come after her.
Xevius glanced at Malvada coming out of the cave and told her "You should tell that female dragon not to use that sinew.  I've calculated before that there are tiny animals that like to eat anything weakened, and the more something smells, the more their are.  If my calculations are correct, dead things can put up much less of a fight, meaning the longer you are near that sinew, the more tiny animals your exposed to, and they all want to eat you.  I know it's crazy, but it's actually a very plausible calculation." He paused for a moment, glancing at a nearby hole in the ground, next to a trench, he hadn't seen last night, due to it being endarkened.  It was from the original tunnel, the part Malvada hadn't caved in!  He then said "I'll be back with a suitable replacement; I don't know the foliage up-mountain."  And he lifted off into the sky, diving down into the hole.  When he was in there, he quickly changed his flight to horizontal, using the momentum from the dive to enter a speed flight.
Midnight woke in time to heat Xevius's speech about little animals. Anger, as hot as lava, flared up in her. "Is all you think of is calculations? 'I calculate this, I've calculated this, well hears a load for you smart Alic! Calculations arn't always write and your just trying to act smart because your so weak!" she screamed after him as he took flight. He disappeared into the clouds. "AND DON'T COME BACK!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. She then noticed how Malvadawas looking at her and she ducked her head, embarrassed. "Well its true." she said, scratching at the dirt.

Heisei set her kits down and in human form pulled out some cloth bandages "Sinew attracts scavengers. I have this instead" She took the splint and tied it to Malvada's leg tightly enough to keep it in place but not cut off circulation. Heisei added "You may wish to eat more bone for a while it will help make the broken one heal stronger..." She moved her kits inside and they began playing with Skye, who was apparently only shy to other dragons. Heisei asked Malvada "What do they call you? I've lived in Celestia's territory long enough to get her name. I am called Heisei..."

Xevius decided he wouldn't come back.  That tiny dragon had rocked his very core, making Xevius uncertain, even though she hadn't pronounced the words right.  Maybe she was right, and calculations weren't always right, and Xevius was useless...  He did a little math in his head, and their was a chance she was right, and that his calculations were wrong, and that the world was crazy...   But there was a chance even that calculation was wrong, and that gave Xevius hope about the stability of the world, even if very little.  He entered the center of his maze, and sat, depressed.  Of course, this was nothing unusual, Xevius was easily depressed.

Malvada gave an approving grin towards Midnight after Xevius flew off and left, she would have burst out in a roar of laughing fits if Heisei and her kits wern't there, she turned her attention to the fox "Malvada..." she said answering her question then added "And thank you.." before turning her attention to Midnight again.  She limped over to the edge of the cave den enterance not wanting to cave anything else in and hurt another limb, then she would be animal food.  She leaned against a large rock that easily supported her weight, relieving the pressure off her bad leg before she said anything "Midnight, I have to say that I admire you, no one has made me want to laugh so hard for years, I was about ready to explode."
