"I don't think they're done yet." Arran said as he approached "They bombed DC after they failed to hold it and couldn't get everyone evacuated. Didn't stop untill the place was leveled. If they keep going, I feel like its going to reach us eventualy." he sighed "I'll keep listening to the radio to see if they say anything more."

Arran sat and ate, still listening to the radio. If he was right and the bombings were going to continue, he had to at least get himself and Liz out of there. He was sure that the shapeshifters would move if they absolutely needed to. What if they decided to drop a nuke on the city? He wasn't sure if they would be stupid enough to do that, but if they did, even if there was a safe distance to get to, would they reach it in time? He jumped slightly as he heard another transmission coming from the radio

"This message is to all survivors in and around the city." he heard the same voice from earlier speaking "If you can hear this, you have 14 hours to evacuate and get as far away as possible. This message will not be repeated. This is your only warning. We will not force you to leave, but if you don't, we will not be held responsible for what happens to you."

Sarah heard this and got everyone moving out of there. Chickens were put in cages seeds were gathered, what could be harvested was and everyone was rounded up. Sarah went ahead to scout the path ready to snipe any of the undead along the way... They were ready to move out. They were well out of the range within a matter of hours. Sarah didn't say a word to Arran just charged his walkie talkie. She realized that the military was going to set the world on fire. Blowing it up wouldn't solve the problem. There were still undead lurking in the wilderness... What were they going to do turn the entire continent into one big bomb crater? That made no sense...
Arran sighed and picked up his backpack and his weapons. Going to find transport, he found the horse he had used earlier and started getting ready to leave, Liz was busy gathering her own stuff. He wasn't sure where he would go. Whether or not to follow the shapeshifters, or at least try to, or go his own way. He would honestly rather stay with them..safety in numbers after all, but he still wasn't sure. Once he got all his stuff ready he took one last look back at the city while he waited for Liz. He hoped anyone left inside had gotten the message and would leave. Arran knew there were still good people in the world, even if the bad ones outnumbered them
The shapeshifters did find another place to settle and started making fences for livestock digging burrows and making another bath in the nearby river. The humans were not left out in the cold but again only one house was being built this one much larger and able to accomadate the humans it more resembled a compound. Sarah was amazed at how fast shapeshifters could build things. They were working like crazy and Brian was gone looking for something. Humans were helping where they could mostly stuck up in trees as lookouts and surveyers. One of the girls was making sure one of the beams on the house was straight... "A little more to my left.... Ok a smidge to the right... There." Sarah was on patrols keeping an eye out for the undead and humans but there was nothing but natural resources. It was the middle of nowhere. Sarah doubted they would bomb this place too. But they were camoflauging everything this time to again look like an abandoned building.
Arran kept moving with Liz, getting further and further away from the city, still unsure of where they were going. Maybe if he tried calling the army with his radio they'd send someone to evacuate him..at least get Liz out..no, they weren't doing evacuations. If they were doing that they would have taken the people out of the city themselves not told everyone to get the hell out or you're all going to die. Though he was with them at one point so maybe they'd make an exception..he wasn't sure if he wanted to take that chance though. He could still try to find the shapeshifters..they couldn't have gotten too far, and he knew they still had human survivors with them so maybe he'd still be allowed in.

Sarah finished her patrols before she noticed Arran and Liz were missing. She went out and it took a while but she found them. "If you want to go your own way let me know so I know to stop coming and finding you. I'd rather you thought that over for a while, but if you've made up your mind say it now so I know whether or not to take a path that the horse can follow." Sara was in dragon form albiet with fur, fox ears, fluffy feathery wings, and a cute face. She had no idea why she wanted to look cuddly then and there but she was cute and cuddly. Then she heard something and her head snapped in that direction. It was another shape shifter...

A little kid shifted into a fox cub. He'd apparently tried to get adopted by a mother fox and she was driving him off. Sarah caught him and took human form cuddling him. The child turned into a six year old. Most shapeshifters didn't learn how to alter their forms until puberty. Sarah asked the little red headed boy his name "Joey James... I have a aunt who is a shape shifter too." Sarah said her brother's name and Joey said "That's my dad's name." Sarah took a sniff and said "I have a nephew... Joey I'm your aunt. I can tell by your scent... Where are your parents?" "Zombies got them in Washington state... Are you going to take care of me?" Sarah said "Yes... There's a whole village where there are a bunch of us shapeshifters." Sarah realized that Joey had used his shapeshifting and instincts to make it this far. Sarah looked at Arran and said "Are you coming back or not? Decide fast my nephew needs to get some food in him and needs a bath... We've resettled already Fox thinks it's far enough away from the city... You have been gone for ten days and it was ten days of hard travel. We must have covered twenty miles a day. So I think we're set but it's too late in the season to plant so if we have to we'll be able to move faster." Sarah waited for a response from Arran holding a little red headed boy with her eyes.

Arran was startled a bit by the dragon before he realised it was Sarah and let out a small sigh of relief. "Sorry I..wasn't quite sure what was going on when you left before us, but..yeah, we're coming."

Sarah led them back and put Joey with the other kids in the makeshift school or tried to but Joey clung to her leg... The kid was small and Sarah all he thought he had. Sarah had no experience with small children and since Fox and Brian seemed to have cut her off for spurning their respective advances she just started digging a den. Joey started helping her without a word. She was digging hers under the roots of a tree for stability. It took her and Joey a few hours to dig a den large enough for the pair of them in human form with room for Joey to grow. There was a fire pit and some room for storage. Sarah made a bed and started getting her own firewood. She'd managed to leave Joey back at school with Martha. It was quiet out there and Sarah worked quickly. She got the firewood only to find a dead deer sitting there and Brian in wolf form with blood on his muzzle. Sarah nodded in thanks and started butchering it taking the hide and somehow streching it. Sarah started smoking and drying meat over a fire. She also noticed Brian had made himself a bed in there. Sarah was not sure what to make of this until she saw Fox with someone else draped on his arm. Joey came back loaded up with various other edibles and he'd found a pot somewhere... Brian looked at her questioningly and she said "Nephew. I can tell by how he smells. I found him looking for Arran."

Sarah introduced Joey to Brian and went to go get water. She used her hand cranked filter and thought... Was Joey the only one? She had two brothers and a sister all of them catholics... Sarah honestly thought her brother would have abandoned Joey the instant he found out the kid was a shapeshifter. Sarah started making a soup out of the stuff Joey had brought back and some of the venison. Sarah also cleaned up everything as best she could. Martha came up to Sarah and said "Your nephew didn't tell you the truth about how he wound up on his own. I got it out of him." Sarah said "My brother abandoned him?" "Yes." Sarah called her brother something that should not be repeated and Martha said "Joey can't read or write and he doesn't seem too keen to even try to learn. He's too focused on just surviving. Try to teach him yourself." Sarah didn't say anything. Joey had been abandoned once Sarah wasn't going to forsake him too just because it was hard. But she needed help and didn't know where to turn...

Arran got settled in and sat down with a small sigh, watching Liz wander off to do..whatever, he wasn't sure. As long as she didn't go too far or outside of the area she was okay. Arran set down his backpack and checked his supplies again. He had eaten somethings while he and Liz were traveling but not too much, he still had most of his stuff. He sat back a bit and closed his eyes, he needed some sleep.

Sarah found something out about Brian there... That he was great with kids and he was teaching Joey to read without any difficulty. Sarah stirred the soup before rifling through her bag to find the three military mess kits she'd gotten somewhere... She found somethings she didn't know she had in there a photo of her grandparents when they were younger. Color photos had just come out and Sarah could see the grandmother she looked just like and her grandfather a proud native american man hair white and aged prematurely. He'd been in a concentration camp as a POW and that had made him stronger. Sarah may have looked like her grandmother but she'd inherrited his will to live. Now she had someone else to look after. Sarah found her grandfather's dog tags too slightly worn but still easily read. John James... Sarah had been taught many things by her grandparents. She thought her brother and her sister had learned the same. One did not abandon a child or family like that. Sarah's family had forsaken her before Joey was born. Now Joey had been abandoned. Sarah had never wanted to kill someone before but Paul had done something unforgivable.

But she wasn't going to go out and find him Joey needed her. She also found her grandmother's silver locket tarnished with age. Sarah put the objects back in their compartments and shut her eyes breathing in... and out... on the next inhale she caught Paul's scent and he wasn't alone, and the three had guns. Sarah snuck out right past Arran and found them talking. A woman said "Paul are you sure the smoke is from a town and not those bombs?" "Yes Marie..." Sarah recognized that as her brother and the claws of her dragon form dug in. Sarah wanted to claw his face off and tear his throat out then leave him for the animals or inject him with a poison that caused him to die slowly. The third person was a little girl a shapeshifter "Why did you chase Joey off?" "Because he was possessed by the devil Sophie." Sarah had enough and she came out taking human form crossbow at the ready. "Sarah is that you?" The man who had dull brown hair and hateful grey eyes slowly pulled out his gun. Sarah said "Your daughter is a shape shifter too Paul. It runs in the family. The village is mostly shapeshifters. I found Joey by the way. You are so lucky I won't tear you apart in front of her. But I can't let you live... You might bring other bigots..." Paul shoved Sophie a little girl who looked like Sarah did at her age plus freckles away and said "Go away Sophie. That heck spawn has never lied to me..." Paul called his wife a witch that had cheated on him with Satan and shot her in cold blood before turning the gun on Sarah and Sophie... Sarah took dragon form but made herself look like she'd come from a nightmare with twisted horns and actually cruel eyes she stared him down. Sarah did snarl and stepped closer using an unearthy voice. Paul soiled himself and grabbed a rosary dropping to his knees. Flames flickered out of Sarah's mouth when she told Sophie to look away. Then Sarah lunged clawing those hateful eyes out and tearing the throat that uttered words of hatred out. There was a spray of blood and Sarah knew he was as good as dead laying on the ground so she left him taking Sophie to the river and cleaning herself off retaking human form. "Sophie I'm your aunt..." Sophie looked at her wide eyed "You're the she devil Daddy told me to never talk about."

Sarah said "She devil? Is that what he called me?" Sarah sighed and Sophie actually smile with a gap toothed grin and say "So you're like me... Daddy said shapeshifters were evil so when I found out what I was I hid it. Joey wasn't that smart." Sarah said "Well you'll be with your own kind soon enough. Come on let's go..." When they got there Fox was glaring. "Sarah why did you kill that man?" Sarah told him what had happened and Fox looked at Sophie. "So there was justification... A human found him and you owe the girl Liz an explanation." Sarah saw it was Arran's daughter and explained what had happened. "He abandoned his son, shot his wife and made to throw his daughter away." Liz was right with Arran and Sarah looked at him saying "That was the first time I've ever been angry enough to kill someone and actually did it. But I couldn't let him live. He'd have led an angry army right here and he had to pay for murdering his wife and abandoning his children."

Arran looked from Liz to Sarah and nodded "I understand..gotta do what you gotta do." he scratched his head. In the years since the outbreak he had to do things he wasn't exactly happy about. He wasn't like some people who would jump other survivors, hold them at gun point and take their supplies, but he didn't hesitate to kill people who tried to do it to him. He didn't like killing other survivors but if it was a choice between him or them, they were going.
Sarah was glad he understood. Joey came and hugged Sarah. He had apparently decided she was going to be his new mother figure. Sophie grabbed Sarah's hand and Sarah took the two of them to their new home after she gave them both baths... Neither of them could heat the water so Sarah had to do it for them. Joey was more advanced in his shapeshifting skills. Sarah made sure the two were clean and dry with clean clothes before letting Brian start teaching Sophie too and she got to scraping the hide and preparing it to make clothes for the two children. Other shapeshifters were looking at her strange and saying things like 'She stole those kids...' ' No their father her brother chased them off and she took them in. He also shot his wife for producing two shapeshifter children.' 'If she wanted children so badly... she had two men vyying for her affections and one of them is helping her right now.' 'Poor guy isn't getting any is he?' Fox quelled the rumours fast and things quieted down. Sarah decided on something... "Joey, Sophie I think I have something for both of you." Sarah pulled out the dog tags giving them to Joey. "These belonged to your great grandfather..." Sarah handed the locket to Sophie saying "That was your great grandmother's." Then Sarah pulled out the spare mess kit and started telling the two stories about the positive members of their family... She definately had their attention as the two kids sat there listening. Arran was in earshot and heard about how Sarah's grandfather had fought in world war two and survived Aushwiz. Being a Native American the Nazis had put him in a concentration camp. The secret sabotage the guards could never figure out... all those stories...
Arran went to sit down again and looked at his radio. Since the transmission warning about the bombings in the city, there hadn't been any other messages, but he still kept listening in case there was something important. He couldn't help but wonder if any other cities had been hit. DC was bombed years ago, and he believed there were others still standing. He had family out in Chicago and Detroit, whether or not they were still alive he didn't know. He had family members scattered around the world, some were out of the country when the outbreak happend, probably couldn't make it out since when things started getting really bad they closed all the ports and airports probably to stop it from spreading..to no avail of course.

Arran looked at the radio as it started going again, another transmission coming through, this time a female voice

"This message is to all survivors looking for a place to stay, for a place to survive. The army wont help you, if they wanted to evacuate people they would have done it all ready. But we are here to help you, to offer you shelter from the dead and those who would wish to cause you harm. If you're interested, speak up and we'll send someone to retrieve you. We-" suddenly the message was cut off by another transmission cutting in

"All right ma'am." he heard the same voice from earlier "Get off the radio, this is a secure channel, how you got in here in the first place I don't know."

Aftermath (Zombie appocalypse survival RP)
Setting

The year is 2026. Abbandoned cities and towns, some having been bombed by the military when things started. Sewers and underground tunnels and shelters and other areas.

Plot

You're one of the few survivors of a outbreak that killed most human life on Earth. Its been 12 years since it happend, and some have tried to rebuild the lives they once had before the outbreak, but have failed horribly. Cities and towns are left abbandoned, the military almost non-existant aside from a few outposts and bases scattered around the world. Few remaining scientists continue to try and find a cure to the disease, but all attempts have failed. The problem is that whatever it is, when it kills you, you don't stay dead. The virus turns you into a mindless monster, only wanting to feast on human flesh (And these aren't the slow zombies you usualy see either. These are the fast ones. Really fast). You must find survivors (Other players included), find shelter, find weapons, do whatever you can to survive.

History

With all the dinosaur related RP's I've started here, wanted to do something a bit different so..here we are.

Rules

*No killing other players unless they allow it.

*Don't get too graphic in killing the zombies. Or other people (Not exactly players unless..well refer to the first rule for this, but other survivors your character might meet)

*Just a note on the "Shapeshifter" species I added. This was something that came along after the initial outbreak happend. Years after everything went down, some survivors developed this ability for unknown reasons. One theory from scientists being the virus has a strange effect on some people. Not quite turning them into zombies but mutating them and giving them certain abilities in other ways.
