The night sky was crystal clear, but the harvest moon hanging over the earth gave it a eerie sort of feel. Somewhere below it all, a large, dark figure could be seen looming underneath the canopy of trees, their shadows stretching over him, and the moonlight reflecting in his eyes which were like golden orbs. He looked almost ominous in this light, his massive paws causing the earth to sink beneath them with each step he took. He blended quite well in the shadows; they were his home. As he stepped out from under cover, the moon hit him again, this time lighting up the fresh wound on his front right leg, but he did not flinch. Instead, he was focused, as if searching for something. He sauntered over to a large tree trunk, looked around, then laid down and licked his wound. He had traveled far. While the wound was not so taxing, he himself was weary and needed rest. When he closed his glowing golden eyes, he almost became invisible all at once, becoming one with the shadows once again.
Hae had simply been sitting in the underbrush of the thick dense woods. She didn't blend well with the dark of the forest at night, but this particular patch of woods was a close match. She sank low, only her eyes peeking above the dark ferns. In the splotchy moonlight that seemed to ooze down through the trees, the ferns were a silvery grey-green color. As long as little of her showed, Hae could hide there for a while.
Where should I go next..? Hae wondered silently. She was a wanderer now, going wherever her paws led her. The lake near the mountains might be a nice relaxing spot.. she was just thinking, when a slight rustle caught her ear. It was just an owl, swooping in after a mouse. But as she looked towards the noise, she noticed movement a little further away. She drew in a sharp breath. It was the most enormous wolf she had ever seen. Its pelt was so dark that she would have never seen it if it hadn't been for the way the moonlight illuminated the silhouette. She scrunched lower, wondering if this was a foe or merely another rogue. She watched as the large wolf left the patch of moonlight. When it was out of sight, she slunk a distance past it, and then took off with long, quick strides towards the line of towering mountains.
Moon sniffed the ground and looked around then she sat down her silver and white hair shining. Moon placed her head on the ground where am I even going she thought to herself. Moon moved through the dark forest slowley. Then all of a sudden she bumped into a really big dark colored wolf that made her look absolutley tiny and she yipped in suprise. Moon almost started to shake but she didn't want to show fear even though the bigger wolf would smell it. Moon looked at the big wolf and locked eyes with him then she noticed the many scars on him and she had to look away. Moon whined and looked down then she looked back at the big wolf waiting for him to do somethibg.
Aaron had been resting for a sufficient amount of time, and decided now was as good a time as ever to seek treatment for his wound. Getting on his feet, he nearly grew two sizes in appearance. The leaves crinkled and crunched underneath his feet, and with his long, graceful stride, he moved quickly. It was then that a small she-wolf collided with him. Aaron appeared to be completely calm and undisturbed by it. He met her gaze, and read the fear in her eyes. He said not a word, and slowly turning his head towards the trail ahead of him, he was on his way again. He had other things on his mind. His wound was an old one, but only freshly opened. The blood was now beginning to dry, creating a natural cover to keep out floating particles or ash that drifted in the wind. He had to stop the bleeding. He appeared to be sure of his footing, and followed a familiar trail. Unlike most rogues who are more or less drifters, Aaron was comfortable to make pick a territory and keep it, completely unfazed by the consequences of such a decision. It wasn't because he was reckless. He was a thinker. An analyser. No doubt he had sorted through the consequences and still chose to stay. It's the way he always was. He seemed to rather enjoy putting himself at constant risk.

The night sky was peaceful and calm, a startling yet much welcomed ccontrast to the bustling activity of the clans that night. Lien had been perched comfortably on a slab of rock, watching them with little amusement. To her, their schedules and rituals were redundant and meaningless. She flipped over on her back to watch the stars, and there were many of them. Her muscles ached, and her paws were sore from the hunt she had just recently made, but her stomach was full and that pleased her. Taking down a young moose without the aid or assistance of a pack was almost unheard of for a wolf her age, and yet she made away with her prize, and hardly a scratch. In the distance, she could hear the rustling of leaves, and a faint muttering.

Lien's face was like stone; hardened and showing almost no emotion. She knew the others were watching her, and no doubt mocking her for their own sick amusement. For the younger wolves, the rituals of clan life were nothing but rituals and work. They had to make fun for themselves, and Lien one way or another became the victim. But if it weren't for her self-discipline and higher knowledge, she would have stooped to their level and easily taken them on all her own. But she knew better. It was better to play it safe. For now.
Moon had been scared of the big wolf but all of a sudden he had left. Moon stared after him in amazement and respect. There was specks of blood on her shoulder and moon shook it off. Moon followed behind him slowley because she hadn't seen another wolf in along time and she didn't want to be alone. Moon felt her tail wag as she followed hin but then she stepped on a small twig and that was the only sound in the night. Moon winced and flattened her ears against her head and crouched down maybe he hadn't heard anything she thought.
Grinning broadly, Aarre crept up behind the small, silver wolf. She looked so tiny and helpless.
What is she following that monstrous wolf for? Aarre wondered. He'd been a rogue for as long as anyone could remember, and he was so good at slinking through the shadows that he was almost never caught. Aarre was even able to stalk  the dark shadowy wolf, for a while. He always lost the trail eventually, but he was proud that he had made it that far. Now he snuck up on a trembling, scared wolf who seemed hardly more than a pup. It was easy work, and she would be easy prey.
Closer, just a little closer now...
"HI THERE!" Aarre hurled himself out of the bushes directly in front of the silvery wolf, howling his greeting as loudly as he could. It was a strange sort of way to introduce himself, and to get a laugh. It was funny to see the fright on their faces, then the sheer relief when they realized he wasn't going to attack, and then the confusion at why he would jump out in the first place. This was no exception, and he watched the silver wolf's reaction closely.
Aaron was not far now from what he had been seeking. Looking to his left, there was a peculiar looking bush with long, thin leaves. He started making his way over to it. He observed it closely. Pulling out the longest leaves, he used his muzzle to neatly align them at his paws. His long tail swept back and forth as he worked. Then, suddenly, he became very still. Without looking back, he said, in a low, booming, yet somewhat respectful voice "Mind helping me with something?" He said. There was silence in the air. No doubt, the wolf would be hesitant to respond let alone come near him. He turned his head to look at the she-wolf who had been following him. His good eye gleamed in the moonlight, and the crimson of the gaping wound shimmered. He was no doubt a terrible sight. He chuckled suddenly "And it wasn't really the clumsy footing or the twig that gave you away, more so the sound of your eager tail." and watching her, he waited to see if she would approach, or if he was just wasting his time.
Aarre looked up with just a slight twinge of horror. The large wolf was right there, talking to the little white wolf. And Aarre had just blundered in the middle of whatever was happening. Not just blundered in, but actually lunged into the middle of it. After a couple moments, Aarre recovered from the initial shock. Sitting tall and proud, Aarre began to nonchalantly stare straight at the odd pair. Tipping his head just slightly to the right, he pondered the odd coupling of the large, dark wolf with the small, white one. Indeed, in the shadow of the massive shadowy wolf, the silver companion was dwarfed and looked even smaller. As he pondered this strange duo, he sat quietly and complacently waiting for one of them to speak.

As Lien lay star gazing, a trio of young wolves approached her. The leader of the trio was a lean, ornately decorated wolf who had no doubt been son of a high clan and heir to power. His entourage consisted of a more short and stout wolf with a crooked smile, and a taller wolf with a sharp stare who appeared to be much older than the others. The leader and the chubby one were laughing, and one of them said, loud enough for Lien to hear, "Don't look now! It's poor miss 'unwanted'..what was it? LEE-ANN!?" He mocked, dragging out the pronunciation of her name. Lien sighed and kept her eyes on the stars. The others grew impatient, not taking kindly to her undaunted demeanor.

The lead wolf then jumped up on the slab, hanging his face over Lien's now and barked. Chuckling, he pushed her further. "Whatcha doin?" He snarled, then changed his tone to a more demeaning voice "Talking to your mommy?" The other wolves laughed as the lead dog jumoed off the rock and joined them. Lien was silent and still, letting their comments slide right off her back. The leader snarled. "She can't hear you. So wake up dreamer!" He howled, the other's joining in until an older wolf told them to quiet down, and they walked away as if they hadn't even been their.

Moon stood there shacking partially because of being surprised and that the big wolf had heard her.She was going to say something to the big wolf in front of her but the new male looked dangerous. Then Moon partially stood in front of the big male wolf because she knew he was hurt already. "Who are you" she asked the wolf that surprised her. Just then she looked back at the big wolf "I should probably get you name too"  she said. Then she looked back to the male wolf. Moon looked at him and noticed he looked regal and noble. Moon trembled slightly but stood her ground.
Aaron had just barely finished speaking when the male wolf had pounced out of no where. He had momentarily distracted the female, surprising her. Aaron just watched with a poker face, completely numb to the energy and confusion in the air. He felt the blood drip down his face, dripping to his large paws. He paid it no heed. Instead, he chuckled when the wolves just looked at him, the she-wolf asking his name. He shuffled the leaves he laid out, and then paused. Lowering his head, he picked the leaves up in his teeth. "No matter."he said with his mouth full. And sitting down on his haunches, he lowered the leaves, placing his paws on either end and his head in the center of them. He aligned them in a way to make a thick enough gause for his wound. He began to work, wrapping the dressing himself while the others simply stood there.

The large wolf's flippant manner irritated Aarre. Why was he so inexplicably disinterested in absolutely everything?? Frustrated, Aarre ignored him entirely now, and turned to the small wolf, his air of noble calm completely restored.
He looked her up and down, taking in every aspect of her and determing what he could about her. She was small and weak, therefor she couldn't have been a rogue long. But yet, here she was. Obviously she had been one of the clan that had been destroyed. He turned to look at the large wolf. He was just bandaging his own wounds, his demeanor was unchanged, except for a twinge of amusement that was evident at the corners of his eyes, followed by his chuckle. Aarre quickly lost interest in him as well; he clearly had no intention of speaking or attacking, so why worry about him? Aarre lowered himself to the ground, but kept his head raised and alert, then turned back to the small wolf.

"I am Aarre." He said. "Who are you, silver wolf?" He sat

Hae made it to the lake before long; the moon was still bright in the sky. Somewhere in the distance she heard a loud, howling cry. It tugged at her in a strange way. She half turned around to go find the author of the sound. Then she shook her head, as if to dispell the whisps of emotion that were tugging at her.
Don't be foolish. She chided herself. She plodded up to the edge of the lake and gazed at the yellowy silver glow of the moon on the lake. Around the other side, behind a softly crashing waterfall, Hae could make out the dark outline of a small cave. Home, she thought to herself. She knew it was foolish for any rogue to claim an area as their home, but she loved the little cave. She had pulled enough branches, dried grasses, and marsh reeds in to make a comfortable little nestling spot for her to sleep. As she walked wearily into the cave, the howling echoed in her mind again. One day, she determined, one day she would find the source. She plopped down on the soft bed and dozed off, with the howling cry as the soundtrack of her dreams.

Lien had taken in enough of the atmosphere. While the stars seemed to calm her in a way she could not understand, she felt her fur standing on end. Too much exposure to clan life could make one sick. Rolling to her side, she looked from side to side, crystal like green eyes contrasting with her midnight black coat. She was not a large wolf, about the size of a bobcat, so she slipped away almost undetected. Stalking a comotion she heard coming from behind the thick brush near her. She crouched down onto her belly and crawled quietly underneath it until she could see the glow of the moon hitting the silvery coats of a group of elder wolves.

They were the clan warriors, gathering for a meeting, which was custom on the nights of the full moon. She saw her father standing among them, his face sagging and tired looking, but nevertheless noble. He was not high in ranking, but he held a certain dignity about him nonetheless. Lien watched him, and suddenly her mind went back to the image of him walking away from her, leaving her to live the life of a warrior. She frowned, and slowly began to crawl out from the bushes, making her way back to were the clan activities were taking place.

Rogue
Setting
The setting takes place in a large continent divided by borders. The terrain changes from cold to hot, rocky to desolate depending on which direction you travel.
Plot
Imagine being the target of forty different neighboring clans you once had been in alliance with. Over the years, your clan and the others around you had enjoyed peace and prosperity. But the funny thing about alliances is that they require a great deal of trust. What happens when a few bad apples decide to keep secrets from the rest of the clans? A conspiracy to take over as head of the Forty Clans has been lurking in the shadows, and many wolves have disapeared without a trace. Evidence of betrayal points to your clan. Not surprisingly, the traitors in your clan refuse to give themselves up, so the entire clan takes the fall. The Forty Clans wipe out your home, and everyone in it. But by the skin of your teeth, you escape. You are alive, but if any of the other tribes found out it would spell the end for you. So you live on, without a name, without a clan. You are a ghost to the rest of the world. You have your freedom, but what do you choose to do with it? Are you one of the traitors, swearing to finish what you started in the first place? Or are you one of the innocent victims who have been forced to go rogue? Will you seek revenge? Or will you do what you can to keep the peace in the already hostile environment? The choice is yours, but watch your step.

You are either a rogue wolf or a member of the Forty Clans. The rest of the history is basically in the plot..
