Rann sighed and turned off the generator. Despite the high level of radiation, there were still no results... Turning the generator any higher would put everything in the lab at risk.

Heh, "Lab." It could hardly be called that, the laboratory was a cave with some tables and equiptment arranged chaoticly.

He hated it. Hated the disorginization, hated the reddish brown rock that replaced his cold, metallic walls...

But it was better than nothing. He was lucky to have what he did, including his life. Had he been a more optumistic person, Rann would have been able to see that.

As it was, a pesimist made a better scientist.

Rannrubbed his hands together and shook his head to get the hair out of his eyes. He would have to start pulling it back, he thought, as he left the cave and walked back to the pile of rocks he and Angel slept in.

He never made it.

About twenty feet from the pile, a blue flash of light distracted him. He whirled around; There, about fifty feet behind him was a... Blue object, seemingly composed of light. If seemed to have an immense gravitational pull, the few loose rocks near the thing had been pulled in.

Rann was smart. He knew that going near that thing was going to bring trouble.

But curiosity got the best of him. Of corse, once he got too close he found himself unable to pull back, and the portal dragged him through.

It dropped him above the tree line. Ran quickly realized he was falling, and switched to his dragon form. Not that he was a good flier, but he slowed the fall, landing in a tree.

Oh god. A very, very high tree.

Rann risked a look down. Ohhhhh no, oh no, that was at least a hunddred feet up and...

Rann threw up. Nice.

He gave a shuddering sigh. Nothing was going to get better unless he actually mobilized and climbed down the acursed tree... So step by step, he began to pick his way down.

THe proscess took about an hour, but eventually Rann managed to half climb, half fall back to the ground. He decied to keep his dragon orm, because although he was rather weak in both forms, the dragon had claws, teeth, and venom.

Now... Where was the blue thing? Would it take him back the way he had come? Rann looked up, but the light was gone. The portal had dissapeared.

Well... That was bad.

He was contemplating how his life was going to be now that he was, apparantly, in another dimmension, when he heard the scream.

It was very far away, just barely noticable. But Rann new that voice.

A wave of releif flooded through Sola when she saw Qeo, but the relief was oon cut short when the dragon slipped. Sola lunged, her reflexes geting her to the edge of the cliff in seconds. She grabbed the back of the dragon's head in her jaw, gripping the bony plate at the base of the skull. Her muscles screamed in agony as she locked her legs and spread her wings wide for balence.

Evrything in her screamed in agony, the dragon was heavier then it looked. In normal condition, she may have been able to pull up the over-sized reptile with a little effort; but as it was, this feat was going to hurt. Straining, she slammed her gears into reverse, attempting to back away from the edge. But for every set she made, her paws slipped three-firths forward, making the progress very little. As it was, Sola's muscles wouldn't hold out for much longer, and the edges of her vision were black with strain.

If you can grab anything to help me, please try to pull youself up... She thought with dismay. But Sola wasn't a quiter, and she wouldn't let go until the end.

Loki's head rotated. "Wecanalwaysusehelp. Unless, thatis, youknowwhereweare." But Tambia followed him as he lead her towards the direction of Qeo and his 'Soa.' Even though his small form would have fit easily through the thorn's narrow paths, he lead Tambia through the bigger ones that she would be able to get through with ease. When he heard the scream, he hesitated. "Iknowyoudon'tlikeher, butweshouldhelp..." He said carefully. "Weshouldbeabletogetthroughthere..." he said, flying to a path the border lined the cliff. It would be a tight fit, but by his calculations Tambia would be able to fit providing no thons snagged her. I wonder if Rowan is alive...

Rowan gasped and clawed at the cliff again. She was in a better position now, and she clambered back up after a few seconds, with help from the winged tiger.

She collapsed as soon as she was all the way up, would have kissed the ground had that not been an insanely embarrasing thing to do.

Rowan looked back at the tiger... Uhh... It did'nt look too good.

"Uhm... Thanks and... You know... Sorry..."

Rowan trailed off awkwardly, not being at all good at social... Well anything.

She shook herself off, and then on second thought, switched to her human form. The dragon form had been through about enough for one day.

Qeo had sat down considerately and stayed out of the way. He looked on with concern watching Sola struggle, and slide, which caused him to stand, and then sit down agitatedly but there wasn’t a thing he could have done. He knew better than to try to grab others, lest the shining pads on his feet make contact, mindful of how doing so could cause one of those blank outs; just thinking about that caused him to cringe.

He watched with relief as the struggle ended, and the dragon collapsed exhaustedly safe on the cliffs top. He started to stand up wanting to stand at Sola’s side, but he didn’t budge an inch. Eyeing the silver dragon warily, wondering if Sola knew the dragon, unsure of rather to trust moving into striking range of it or not; he paced ditheringly trying to build his courage back after all he had already approached that dragon once and hadn’t been hurt by it, but then again he had gotten out of the way hastily.

Just then he witnessed the dragon transform and shrunk away cowering, head held low in dread. While that alteration hadn’t been gruesome like the previous on he had witnessed; it was still unsettling to watch one creature become another; it led him to believe that the silver dragon was a member of that other species. The one that had instilled panic in him, now he trusted the dragon even less, assuming a defensive stance low to the ground, and staying put.

Tambia had rolled her eyes at Loki as she walked on “of course I don’t know where we are” she said obviously “but I know it’s far from home so that’s good enough for me” she nodded following along as gracefully as should could manage. “I know” she said simply when Loki had beckoned her to help, something dire could have happened, and after all Tambia wasn’t cold hearted or anything, just persistent.

“I don’t get you though” she started as she followed after him “she could have killed you… why so much interest in helping her?” she asked incredulously “she probably wouldn’t do the same for you --you seem to kind for your own good” she shook her head, and then proceed carefully through the path Loki had led her through with haste. Feeling like they could be too late all ready, that dragon had already caused her so much trouble, and yet she harbored no enmity towards her, just annoyance; if Rowan was dead then she could never be made to answer for her crimes.

Having cleared the thicket with nary a scratch to show for it felt like a personal victory that she celebrated with a strident whiny, and with more freedom of movement she picked up the pace. Rapidly the cliffs edge came into view and there she spotted Rowan in her human form again which she recognized instantly sitting there next to a large black and white striped… chimera? She wasn’t sure what she was looking at; had that creature attacked Rowan? Sure didn’t look that way, what with the lack of blood. Still, one could never be sure, both looked worn out. It seemed possible that they had been fighting.

She approached guardedly keeping a discerning eye on the striped one. That one seemed like it could pose a threat to her, especially since she was in no condition for fighting or running, but she carried herself with confidence to send the opposite message. Sometimes just making others think one knew something they didn’t was enough to back them down. “Need some help?” she asked Rowan mockingly as she finished closing the distance, she faced the striped one “who’s you’re new friend?” she inquired sarcastically, watching the cat suspiciously for any signs of hostile movement.

When The Princess called out "I am," she had not yet put down her book, much less uzipped the net to actually see who was speaking. Having now done both of these things, she elaborated with "And I am the Princess." The sound was a bit muffled by her closed jaw, however.

The Princess was unimpressed with the gaunt, mousy-haired preteen before her.  She took a moment to wonder how the particularly long-legged girl had found pants that didn't fall down before speaking again.

"So're you an orphan, or're you Fey? Also, out of curiosity, who-"

A short whine was heard from a device hanging off of The Princess' pack.

"Let's talk later; it seems my spider's found something or other.  Follow me if you like lunch"

The Princess climbed out onto a branch, took a few minutes to collapse the hammock, and packed it into her pack.  She donned the pack, dropped from the tree, and began walking off.

Loki remained silent, not answering Tambia as they came onto the scene. He only landed in a branch to watch the occurences.

~

Sola released the reptile, and hastily backed up to give it some room after the near death experiance. "Sure..." Was all she managed as she painted, completly exhausted of her strength. But of course, not long aftert she rescued the dragon, something else came from the bushes.

Sola side stepped slightly, opening her wings in a defensive stance that put her between the new horse looking creature and Qeo. Her ears flexed forward as she regarded the new commer with suspistion. The creature's tone ignighted anger in Sola, causing her to snarl. "Well, thats a nice way to treat someone who obviously has had the crap beat out of them. Who do you think you are to mock someone when they are down?" Sola knew she was in no match for a fight, in fact, she felt like Jell-O. But people who mocked others, especially when one is down, were people who ticked Sola off. Sola took note of the bird who wore armor sitting behing the strange reptile, and something inside Sola did not like him either.

Rowan growled and stood back up. Great, was this idiot going to follow her everywhere?

It was difficult not to attack her agian. But Rowan was in her human form, and she doubted that the pocket knife she had was going to do much damage to the horselike dragon.

Or... Was it a dragonlike horse?

Not that she really cared. She simply sneered and chuckled.

"Not looking too good yourself."

Hey, if you can't attack, act like you can. A bit of wisom from the streets of Tatsunia that had gotten her out of many a sticky situation.

Although...

That's right, she was trying to find the portal. But that would requiregoing off agian, and Tambia was likely to follow. Not only that, but Rowan had no idea where the portal was anymore...

Rann tripped over yet another exposed root, momentum throwing him forward as he ran as fast as he could manage through the dense underbrush.

Curses... This was hard to navigate in. The gangly dragon tripped over his own feet while on a flat surface, so this uneven, leaf and branch covered ground was slowing him to nearly a snails pace. He finally made it to a large patch of briars... And he could smell Rowan, along with several others, on the other side.

How, pray, was he going to get through there?

Eventually, he took his human form, and at the sacrafice of a bit of blood (Courtesy of the abundant thorns,) He made it to the edge of the patch.

Yeah, there was Rowan. And the idiot was getting herself into trouble.

Brilliant.

Rann stayed hidden as best he could in the brambles. Most everyone he could see looked formidable... And it was lkely best to stay out of the conflict.

Tambia made no further move in the striped ones direction, the cat seemed rather defensive, and she wasn’t one to push her luck. Instead her attention went straight to Rowan as she spoke “Heh you’re right, I’m not” she admitted readily smirking “still better than you though” she sneered right back; keeping her eyes locked on the striped one, sizing her up, and decided that was not something she wanted to pick a fight with. She flicked her tail, keeping her expression cool and confident “hey now, relax” she said to the striped one, it seemed that chimeras really lived up to their reputation of being quick to anger; if that even was a chimera, she wasn’t sure. “I don’t mean any harm, just paying her back for all the grief she’s caused me” she said lightheartedly, almost playfully “I’ve no quarrel with you oh striped one—and that’d be my handiwork actually” she straightened up grinning shamelessly referring to the stripped ones declaration that the dragon had, had the crap beat out of them “but--she got some licks in too, so I’d call it even, considering that I’m not even the one who picked the fight--but I’ll finish it if need be” she stated matter-of-factly walking slowly toward Rowan

“I’m not here to pick a fight or anything anyway” she said pointedly “just following birdbrain over there, checking to see what kind of trouble this tetchy dragon got herself into— but I can see that you’ve got this, so I guess it’s under control" she shrugged, trying to pretend she didn't care "… umm... just who are you anyway?” she asked with a yawn, still fighting stanchly against the exhaustion that was sweeping over her “I guess I can leave, but first” she stared Rowan right in the eyes “how about that apology now hmm? I’m only asking nicely one more time” she stabbed verbally, narrowing eye unwaveringly.

There was too much activity going on for Qeo’s comfort, too many things arriving that looked like they could kill him. He shrank away, using Sola’s open wings as cover to fall back a bit, concealing himself amid the tall ferns, hoping he hadn't been noticed. He caught sight of the bird that he had spoken to a bit ago, sitting on a branch near the others. Wondering if these were the friends he had been talking about that wouldn’t stop fighting. That worried him; he didn’t want to be so close to where things were fighting. He feared he’d get caught up in it, so he just watched quietly, still as a statue from his hiding place.

Rowans eyes narrowed, a low growl rising from her throat.

"Ah yeah? You wanna go again, horsey? A'cuz' I'll take your blasted throat out!"

Rowan pulled the knife from her pocket, common sense once again thrown carelessly to the side in favor of short tempered ourbursts.

The bit of rationality she did manage to keep told her that she was going to have to make a kill blow on the first strike, or she was finished. It would probably be a good idea to throw the knife.

She was no master of knife flinging, but Tambia was rather close. Rowan gripped the knife, then shifted her hold on the black and silver object, ready to send it flying into Tambia's neck.

Tambia sighed “you’ve got to be kidding me!” she spat exasperatedly, pep no longer evident in her tone “what is it about a simple apology that you find to be so difficult?! That’s it--I’ve had it!” she pawed the ground vexatiously “why?” she growled losing her composure rapidly to frustration “ just apologize already!” she demanded gritting her teeth, feeling like she could roast Rowan to a crisp where she stood and wipe that smug look right off her face.

Her patience was running thin quickly, but she managed to contain herself; though she did find the knife amusing, nearly laughing when Rowan pulled it out despite being so aggravated “and just what are you going to do with that?” she mocked “cut me a little?” she huffed glibly, wringing her tail intolerantly “don’t be stupid” she warned flattening her ears to her skull and narrowing her eyes.

Sola snarled, the roar reverberating around her as she commanded attention from the other two beings. After checking to make sure Qeo had been smart enough to hide, she jumped between the two Waring creatures. Her wings extended fully, making sure that the maximum distance was between the two of them. "Both of you stop!" She snarled.

She looked at Rowan. "You, just swallow your pride and apologize. What ever the heck it was you did, it apparently offended someone so just say your sorry and drop it. Stop holding on two whatever idiotic pride it is that keeps the words 'I'm sorry' from escaping your mouth.

"And you," she snarled at Tambia now, letting the reptilian horse know it wasn't off the hook, "Pull out the briers that have lodged themselves in your butt, shut up, and drop it. Whatever it was, isn't worth all this bull."

Now she spoke to both of them. "I've had a bad day, I've been bruised, cut, shot, had my wing dislocated, had every muscle in my body pulled, and wound up on the wrong end of a portal; so both of you chill out because I am in no mood to deal with a couple of teens acting like toddlers."

Now that her tirade was over, she watched both of them, waiting for a reaction and braced in the case of a fight.

Order of the Shard
Setting

The setting is flexible, and will change as the characters move from world to world.

Currently, the portals are leaving people in the middle of wild, untamed jungle. The forest around you is so thick, any sunlight that filters through is a dark, shadowy green. The weather here is unpredictable, raining one minuet and crushing its inhabitants with heat the next. To add to the treachery of the landscape, you are perched on the side of a mountain, challenging every step you make with crumbling stones and jutting cliffs. Beware of your surroundings, The Order of the Shard are not your only enemies here. This planet is inhabited by dinosaurs, as it seems the portals have dumped you into some sort of prehistoric earth.

Now, you have one decision; up, or down?

Plot

The space and time continuum has been thrown wildly out of order, causing portals from across the universe to rip open at seeming random times. These portals cause a violent reaction in the area around them, sucking in all near by beings through and dumping them into a new world, in a new time. It is up to you to figure out what is going on, and how to survive in this uninhabited and hostile world. However, you are not the only one in this journey. Creatures from all sorts of other worlds, some which you could not imagine, have been pulled to this planet as well.

The reasons for the disturbances are not as random as you may think. An organization, know as The Order of the Shards, or Shard for short, also inhabits this planet. They are led by a woman who goes by the name of Anthanaisia, who believes that her cause is the only way to save the universe. She is seeking out the seven split pieces of the Great Crystal, and with its power she plans to destroy all the current worlds and create a new, perfect one.

But the shards are well protected. It is up to you and the friends you make to find the even crystal shards. The Shard of Bravery, The Shard of Faith, The Shard of Sacrifice, The Shard of Will, The Shard of Passion, The Shard of Vitality, and The Shard of Hope. With these shards, you can restore the Great Crystal. With its power, you can stop Shard and return everybody to their proper times and dimensions.

But it is not as easy as collecting the pieces. You will be racing against time itself to find the shards before Anthanasia, or perhaps racing to gather them for her. These shards will test you in trails to prove you are truly worth the honor of possessing them. Will you be able to pass the ultimate tests of character?

Character Rules

This is a many worlds RP, therefore many types of characters are welcome, and high fantasy elements are included. However, because of the sheer diversity that is possible; some character types and powers are not allowed for various reasons, but mostly in the interest of keeping things from getting out of control.

The character types that are not allowed are as follows:

-First of all this is for original characters only

-So no preexisting characters from shows, books, games ect (though an OC from the worlds of those works may be permissible as long as it fall within the guidelines of the other rules)

-No God/immortal or invulnerable characters

-No vampires, Ghosts, skeletons or undead (though non mindless werewolves and demons are permissible)

-No non-sentient characters as main characters, although you can freely add them as secondary characters

-All characters speak the common language, so no characters speaking different languages (although non speaking characters are fine)

-No Giant Characters keep the size under twelve feet in height either from the head for bipedal characters or at the shoulder for quadruped characters.

-No tiny characters, there is no standard for this so just use common sense

-No cartoonish/troll characters as they dont fit in at all

-No Omnshifters (shifters that can take any form at will) Shifters may only have up to three forms including their humanoid one.

If a banned character is added you will be asked to modify the character. If you do not comply the character will be deleted.

The powers that are not allowed are as follows:

-No unfettered healing abilities (that is to say healing that does not have restriction/take a toll on its user. Healing abilities should not be able to heal mortal wounds)

-No resurrection

-No limitless powers of any kind, (all powers should be matched by a weakness and have limits to their usage in the name of preventing OP characters and over the top-ness )

-No mind reading (this also includes powers of control, suggestion or alteration) or future sight

-No power over time and space in any form (only Athanasia has this ability- though all the characters posses the ability to open and move through portholes at otherworldly shrines)

-No omni-elementalists (that is to say characters that can use every type of elemental arcane arts.)

-No tel or pyro- kenisis (that includes things like the force)

-No instakill move of any kind, including toxicity.

-No teleportation or super speed

-No necromancy

-No acclerated regeneration

-No invisibility or walking through solid objects

If a character is added with one of these banned powers you will be asked to modify the character. If you do not comply the character will be deleted.

It is possible to visit the worlds of any character that is added, but only if the characters creator wants to. NPC and scenario control jumps to that person if their planet is visited.

New players are free to join at anytime; it is very easy to write new characters in, because of the porthole plot device. ;) Thinking of joining? Go right ahead, I will be more than happy to provide anyone with a summary who doesn`t want to read all of this.
