Attention Newcommers!

Welcome to the Order of The Shard Roleplay! Don't worry, this role play is easy to jump into due to its flexable plot. I, or several others in our little community, will be glad to sum up the current events if you do not wish to read to our current posts.

Just remember, have fun!

Sola stood silhouette against a wall of bright red flames, their hot tongues licking the air. A fiery sunset sank behind the flames, its rays lighting the sky with its own orange and red bonfires. The entire world around her was bathed with so many shades of crimson, yellow, and auburn that Sola's black form created a shadow that even the most skilled artists would be unable to paint into a picture. Her body stood rigid, unmoving as if it were a part of the stone beneath her feet. Her wings were lifted above her, slightly open as if to catch the warm breeze that weaved through her fur in a feathery embrace. Her head was cocked sideways, allowing her to look over her shoulder with an expression that would be able to freeze the soul of any human who dared look upon her.

Her eyes glowed like coals in her colorless features. They were narrowed, as if in annoyance. Her mouth hung ever so slightly agape, allowing you to see a hint of her glistening three inch long canines. She was every bit as fearsome as the wall of fire; if not even more so. She radiated power and confidence, everything about her said she was in charge. And the occasional slight flick of her tail begged for a challenge to her claim. A low hiss came from deep within the flames, causing Sola's ears to flick forward to catch the sound. Her eyes cut sideways, eyeing the fire with suspicion and weariness. She shifted her weight, a slight movement that completely changed her stance from challenging to defensive. Her eyes searched the fire for some answer, some clue to what was about to occur.

Suddenly, as if to break the eerie clam of the great demon, a blue light ripped through the red. The flames roared as the concussion it sent out extinguished those closest to it. Sola's eyes slammed shut at the sudden blinding light, her ears pinning to her skull to quite the deafening noise. Her front paws shoved backward, the rock crumbling beneath her paw as she propelled herself away from the cerulean blue. Her wings snapped open with enough force to break a dog's back in preparation for flight. A unearthly scream came from the portal, causing Sola to swing her tail in distress. The portal began sucking everything into it. Sola dug her claws in furiously, trying to cling to the rock and escape this vacuum. Her wings beat with thunderous whoosh, whoosh as they fought to keep her away. This made no difference, and the demon was dragged into the portal. As soon as it began, it ended with a flash of lightning.

Sola, even with her cat-like abilities, was tossed and thrown about until she wasn't sure which way was up and which way was down. She tried desperately to stabilize herself with her wings with no avail. Sola was hurtled, helpless, into warm, moist air. She hit the ground on her back, her eye squeezing closed and her jaw clenched in pain. The throbbing waves if agony washed through her, telling her she would be bruised. Sola groaned, a wave of nausea and headache sweeping over her.

What the hell just happened?

"Hey, this way, this way!"

Silver paws ending in three inch talons crashed through the underbrush, not caring to avoid crunching sticks and dried leaves.

Not like her to be so careless. Well, it was not like her to run away either. This was an... Erm... Special case.

"Come on!"

The kind of special case where you're running for your life,

"Right up there, I see her!"

And you really, REALLY...

"Faster!"

Just...

"Hurry"

Need...

"Go!"

To...

"Almost!"

MOVE!

"Ha! We got 'er, boys!"

Rowan skidded to a stop. The forest had cleared abruptly... And she was two feet from a sottemless cliff. Well, it probably had a bottom... But it was too far down to see it. Te canyon was a good fifty feet across; she wasn't going to be jumping that anytime soon. And she had a messed up wing... So flying was out of the question. So was turning back... She could hear them just ten or so feet behind her. She was surrounded.

"He he... Well well, what do we have here?"

Rowan snarled. The man was tall and muscular, a gnarled, scarred pair of hands and a face to match. He had a large hunting knife and an empty drawstring bag.

Now, up untill half an hour ago, that bag had been occupied by a certian pendant. A thin gold chain, the pendant itself a flat diamond of gold, about an inch tall, with a blood red ruby in the middle. The same pendant that now hung from Rowan's neck. The same pendant that she had gotten caught in a rockfall, breaking a wing and beating herself up too much to fight to get. Then this idiot had taken it while she slept... She had simply returned the favor. And ended up getting chased through the woods by a pack of twenty something wolfhounds for her trouble.

The things were too close to her cor her liking... Close enough that she could not slip between them and run back... But not close enough to the ledge that she could push them.

"Heh... You see lil' dragon, this is what happens when you try to take things that don't belong to you..."

He began walking closer to her, and the pack of dogs closed in. Rowan backed up untill.she could feel the edge with a back paw... Hear rocks fall and crumble down that cliff. The man was still moving... Getting closer...

Suddenly, he lunged at her, a gnarled hand reaching for the pendant around her neck...

Rwan stepped back by instinct. Big mistake. Because she had run out of rock to step back on, and she slipped, her hindquarters dragging the rest of her down. She shreiked in terror, managing to latch on to the cliff with her forepaws. Darnit... She couldn't pull herself up, she was too tired... and she was slipping

The man recovered quickly, laughing. He walked over to the ledge, tip of his boot teasing a desperate paw. Just as he reached down for her neck, Rowan let go. Hey, if she had to go down, she was going to go with her dignity. He was NOT getting the stupid pendant back.

She didn't even try to flap, it was pointless and would hurt. She was going to fall and die, but she was omay with that, because she had never been afraid of dying anyway, and besides, the man's shout of rage and despair at having lost was still fresh in her ears, echoing off the canyon walls and congratulating her on her victory.

In fact, she hardly noticed the flash of blue light...

What she DID notice, was crashing into a freezing river.

A sapphire figure tore across the dunes at a brisk gallop; contour obscured by a wall of dust, nostrils flaring, mouth foaming as a result of the dry air and sand. A dragest, a scaled horse-like denizen of a land so harsh it was simply known as the unforgiving sands. Her kind occupied an oasis, but this one—Tambia—could not abide the isolation, it made the fertile lands of the oasis feel like a prison.

It was a prison, as leaving was forbidden, a crime met with punishment and solitary confinement. The elders of her clan kept everyone on a tight leash; they controlled every aspect of life there. Tambia could not bear to live that, having her future decided for her felt like not having a future at all. Though all of her previous escape attempts had failed, she was at it again with single-minded determination. Undeterred by the fact that she may perish in the sands before making it to food and water, it was a risk she was willing to take to gain her freedom.

She turned her head just enough to see other dragest racing after her--they were enforcers sent by the elders to bring her back to the lands of her of the clan, it had taken the awhile, but they were catching up. This happened every time, it seemed that no matter what time of day she left or how careful she was to not be seen leaving that these jokers would be on her tail in no time, like they had extrasensory perception or something it was ridiculous. She couldn’t keep running like that, they would catch her soon, that sickening feeling of inevitability was all too familiar, all too draining.

She had failed again, and at this point she was just being recalcitrant; if she was going to be herded back, she was going to make them really work for it first. She lowered her head and dug in; kicking up billows of dust in the process and consequently feeling like she was choking on it. She coughed, her mouth felt so dry and the sand burned her eyes, but she did not relent, she`d run until she was too exhausted to take another step if she could make it that far without the others catching up.

Unexpectedly, a blinding blue light flashed before her filling the land with a piercing shriek. Startled, she dugs her heels vehemently into the sand, attempting to slam on the brakes; instead the prevailing suction of the thing pulling at her caused her own momentum to make her fall forward, flipping up her hind legs instigating her to summersault into the light along with a flurry of sand. After thumbing trough what felt like thin air she struck the ground with a thud head first.

She laid still in a daze covered in sand, world spinning, and head throbbing before standing up unsteadily and shaking off. What she glimpsed next caught her completely off guard, making her gasp. It was nothing like anything she had ever laid eyes upon; a verdant paradise, sweet aromas filled her nose and moist air wet her parched mouth—it was incredible. Just then she began to laugh giddily, at first softly but progressively louder.

She didn’t know how she got there, didn’t know where she was, and at that moment she didn’t care. The initial shock had died swiftly in light of the verity that she was alone there. No desert, no enforcers—she was free.

She suddenly burst into a triumphant dancing trot, dashing in circles “finally!” she shouted into the jungle to the top of her lungs “I did it!” she yelled victoriously whinnying stridently; a sound that was melodic, containing a resounding echo, before stopping and looking around again “I really did it” she repeated softly in grateful incredulity, seeming to be grinning. She then blinked, staring out ahead vacantly thinking ‘now what?’.

"Command Center calling to Squad Two. We need a dispatch immediately to the hatchery; a mongoose has been spotted."

The ear piece in Loki's ear squealed out information he had reported and already knew. Loki's wings rotated with skilled and practiced precision, changing his direction on a dime and pulling his small form upwards just as said mongoose's teeth snapped around thin air where he would have been. "Squadtwo, thisisLokicheckingin. Mydivertionsarenotdeteringthemongoose. Ifyoucouldhurryyourtailfeathersup, Iwouldbegreatful." Loki's extremely fast talking caused his words to blend together into on giant babble; but the others had grown used to it.

"Agent Loki, this is Squad two's leader. Stay on target and let my boys do their jobs their trained to do."

And in the meantime, I get eaten. Its a great morning. Loki thought sarcastically as he hovered above the intruder, his silver armor blazing with a bluish hue when it caught the sunlight. He watched the mongoose make its way towards the hatchery, where the tribe's eggs were being incubated. He knew he didn't stand a chance against the overgrown rat, but he couldn't let the mongoose eat the eggs. With annoyance, he folding his wings tight to his body and dove, stretching out his talons and sinking them in in behind the mongoose's skull.

It was all he could do to hold on and not be thrown to the ground, where he would surly be killed. The mammal shook its head in fury, scratching at Loki with its front paw like he was nothing more than a flea, a inconvenience. If this creature was this determined to get those eggs, Loki knew it had to be starving; most animals wouldn't ant to go through the trouble. But no matter the reason, Loki had to distract it long enough for the Red Tails to arrive.

He hated this; his mind worked so much more complex that the useless drones who usually played defender roles. He could solve any riddle, complete any math problem, and make sense of any occurrence. But no, because of his society and his species he didn't GET to use his natural gifts; he just got to almost get eaten every other week like every other kestrel in the tribe.

Loki let out a stream of curses as the mongoose reared, twisting its head to try and catch his wing in its maw. Loki held his wings high out of reach, trying not to get caught while at the same time maintaining his balance. Suddenly, as if this almost humerus scene wasn't chaotic enough, a piercing squeal caused the mongoose to arch his back and jump with startled grace. A blinding flash of blue forced a mongoose, and Loki clutching to him, away with fear.

With a shake only mammals had perfected, the mongoose rid itself of Loki, bolting away from the light like the dead were rising. Per usual of Loki's luck, he was flung into the portal. After tumbling head over feet until the portal flung him into the air. Instinct took over, causing Loki to flap and right himself, stopping his fall before he hit the ground. He opened his eyes, which had been shut ever since the blinding flash, and found his field of vision was blocked by a seemingly solid wall of green.

Whoa...

Moonlight bathed a craggy valley, its tender light dancing on the pale faces of the cliffs as a myriad of dense clouds collected above harbingering of a rainy night to come. At the valley floor Qeo crept along tiredly, head held low, blade dragging the ground languorously. He shivered with each gust, having very little fur to keep himself warm. He`d been walking almost incessantly all day, something he did almost ritually every day since losing his mom, he searched for her; a serch that seemed endless, and unrewarded. He sighed and pressed on, having no direction, just walking on and on expectantly, trying to find her was the only thing he knew to do.

A pop of thunder echoed through the valley as icy rain fell, stinging him with every drop. Nearby he spotted an gap in the rock and picked up his feet, hastily scrambling out of the rain, but not fast enough, he was already soaked and shivered intensely, wrapping his tail around himself as much as he could, as if that would warm him up. He squinted against the darkness, his frills dropping down and laying flat against his face, expressing his apprehension. He was ceaselessly alert, feeling vulnerable, like everything wanted to eat him. It wasn’t hard for him to start imagining the sorts of monsters that could be lurking within, but he couldn’t smell a single presence their besides his own.

After a moment he worked up enough courage to move away from the entrance and push further in. He needed to find a warmer place out of the wind to sleep and wait out the storm. He slinked silently between the tapered walls of the cave; the steady pulse of the pads on his feet dappling him in dim red light, providing just enough luminosity to see into the obscurity by. He made his way to the rear of the cave, coming to rest against a wall of rock. He curled up compactly, shivering and trying to imagine that he was curling up against his mom to combat his loneliness and unease. His imaginings seemed to bring him some comfort as he pushed himself further against the wall, coming uncurled with a sigh, before yawing, laying his head on his outstretched forelegs and closing his eyes.

He began to drift away, but before he could find refuge within the realm of his dreams, he felt something tugging at him; opening his eyes just in time to witness rocks being swallowed by an emergent light on the opposite wall. It was bright, too bright, it burned his eyes. Anxiety boiled in his blood “help!” he yelled in sheer panic as if anyone would come to his aid. The pull intensified, and he grabbed hold of a fissure in the wall, but his grip was poor. His entire body flapped about violently, and well above the floor as his claws began to slide down the extent of the wall; where a few of them found their way into a deeper crack and he tightened his grasp. His left forefoot abruptly broke free of the wall; he now only held on by three claws. The magnitude of the pull caused the jagged crack to slice into his digits, but he refused to let go; not knowing what would happen to him if he did. ‘Can’t let go!’ he was panicking by that point. His tail was wholly extended behind him, it hurt a lot; impulsively he reached for it with both forefeet. He hadn’t comprehended what he had done until it was too late; in an instant he was airborne, traveling unstoppably toward the light. “Mom!” he drug out as he became saturated in light. He closed his eyes in terror trembling—brightness--followed by silence…

The light vanished as Qeo struck the ground, rolling along it for a moment. He had fortunately landed in soft vegetation that had broken his fall, but even still, the wind had been knocked out of him and he was thoroughly shaken up, nearly moved to tears and bleeding from stinging wounds on his forefeet. He tried to stand but fell back down. Spots filled his vision; he still suffered temporary blindness from the light, making it difficult to make anything out, but even so, he was shocked to find that night had suddenly become day, and cold had given way to warmth. That fact that he was still alive calmed his nerves a little, but he was too petrified to dare move just then; instead he curled up defensively, looking confused and worried, waiting for his vision to clear.
After a moment, Sola rolled over so her stomach wasn't exposed. She opened her eyes slowly so she could take in her surroundings. Her suspicions were true; she was no longer home. She had heard of things like this; portals that opened up and allowed her kind to pass between worlds. Her world was closely linked with two others; a trio that were so close together that a powerful enough demon could summon portals to. The three dimensions were known has Hell, Earth, and Heaven. As Sola knew it, earth was a middle ground that humans lived on.

Is this... Earth? She wondered silently as she stood slowly. Her body ached as Sola flexed each muscle individually to check for broken bones. It seemed that she'd only be bruised for a while, but no major damage had been done. Sola took in her soundings fully, her mind taking in the poetic beauty before her. The jungle was dense, ferns larger that herself fanned themselves over the ground with lazy abandon. Trees as big around as skyscrapers reached into the sky to make a lush, full canopy. The sunlight that filtered through was green, casting a kaleidoscope of color onto Sola's fur. Sola groaned. The foliage was to thick for her to take flight to get her bearings. She'd have to find a clearing or river to get into the air.

A squeal penetrated her ears, not to unlike the one that had thrown her here. Sola stood ridged, waiting to see the blue light that would take her away somewhere else; but one never did. Maybe... someone else came through? Hope and apprehension kept her body taut. "Is any one out there?" She called, listening to it echo of the foliage.

Cold.

It was cold.

So cold that it was like fire, burning her, chokeing her, robbing her of oxygen.

Rowan realized what had happened too late, the river was fast and furious. She was normally a pretty good sswimmer, but this was a freezing, raging river, and she was tired and injured.

The water threw her around like a child's plaything, she felt with intensity every roch bruising and sometimes pericing her scaly skin. She tried desperatley to fight the water, to swim. but the best she could do was surface occasionaly for a fraction of a second. SHe was running out of air and energy... Much too quickly. THe cold was setting in...

In some desperate last resort, Rowan found in in herself to give a half scream, half roar of pure distress.

The river dragged her back down just after, and she went limp.

Qeo was licking the wounds on his feet as his vision had cleared and he was preparing to press on. The wounds hurt but they weren’t bad, and at least he hadn’t cut his pads. He was tense, eyeing the thick jungle all around him warily. He feared that he could be ambushed there from any side; he didn’t feel safe at all and what’s worse he had no idea what was going on, he feared that he had, had another one of those blank outs again… what had he done this time? He felt so confused, and wanted to retreat to someplace less exposed. Just then he heard a sound that made his whole body tense up; a voice, he wasn’t alone there, and whatever it was it had seemingly heard him, and sounded big—too big to want to confront. His eyes darted about wildly searching for a place to hide. He couldn’t tell what direction the voice had come from, but it was near, and the last thing he wanted to do was linger in the open. He slinked away into the underbrush, low to the ground, frills pinned back apprehensively. He heard something move just then. Too many things were happening too fast for him to absorb, and this sent him into a panic as he could imagine something chasing him, and that was enough to cause him to burst into a sprint. He wasn’t particularly fast or graceful, crashing through the underbrush clumsily and wide eyed.

Tambia walked along musing about her current situation; she would have loved to have seen the look on the enforcer’s faces when she just up and vanished. She could imagine it would have been hilarious, and it would be them getting the punishment when they went back to explain such a thing to the elders without her. She snickered quietly about that, and probably should have been more concerned about just popping up in a completely new place like that, but she wasn’t. Instead she was just thinking about what she should do with her new found freedom first, but before she could ponder that any further something peculiar caught her ear; moving water, a lot by the sound of it.

She moved off in that direction to investigate, only to step out to yet another shocking site—a river. Never had she seen so much water in one place, this made the ponds and streams on her clans lands look pathetic. Soaking the sight in with awe, something besides the water drew her attention; what looked like a silver dragon splashing around in frantic distress was swept pass her, “are you okay?” she called out concerned as she galloped along the bank trying to keep up, even though she could clearly see that it was in dire trouble. Suddenly it let out a cry and vanished beneath the gurgling waters. “Oh my gosh!” she gasped alarmed, and without thinking she plunged into the river. Even though the dragons of her world had never been very amiable with her kind, and some even ate them, she couldn’t bear to just watch someone drown like that. She hadn’t accounted for the sheer coldness of the water though; it hit her like knifes. She switched forms at once, trying to ignore the chill in her bones, and diving down into chilled depths that threatened to steal her breath, where she spotted the dragon sinking limply and grabbed it, fighting to get back to the surface. Her head burst out of the water, and she took a long gasping breath before taking her beast form again and situating the dragon onto her back with her nose, already starting to feel exhausted as the cold drained away her stamina. The current was stronger than expected and continues to force her downstream; she started to swim to the side, trying her best to avoid being swept into the rocks; attacking the water with vigorous strokes. She managed to reach the embankment, but it was far too steep to climb. She found some footing in the shallower waters by the bank and held her ground, stranded.

Having no desire to chance those angry waters again, she was lucky enough to have escaped with minimal bruising. So she stood there shivering and weighing her options, berating herself for being so impulsive. She turned her head enough to see the dragon on her back “hey are you alright” she asked bending her neck enough to allow her to nudge the dragons hanging forepaw with her nose. She noticed a lot of blood, which wasn’t a good sign, ‘please be okay’ she thought anxiously, she didn’t want to have to have risked her life for nothing, and she didn’t know a thing about resuscitating a drown victim either. Drowning wasn’t a thing in her land.

Loki followed his first instinct; fly up. His armor making a slight metal clinking, Loki flew higher, past the tree line and into open air. The atmosphere her was rich, he could taste the heave oxygen that was allowing this place to thrive the way it was. A river was running down the side of a mountain, twisting its lonely way down the rocks.

Loki noticed a flash of silver bobbing in the river, and due to his curious nature, he went to investigate. As he got closer, he saw a magnificent, giant reptilian floating unconscious. A second was dragging it to shore, where it hauled the unconscious silver lizard up a steep embankment and began to attempt to wake it.

Loki's caring nature took over, and he swooped in to help. His voice cut into the girl's (who now looked kind of human-ish) pleas. "Askinghekindlytowakeupisn'tgoingtohelp. Youhavetostimulatethebraintobegincoughingsoshecanexpelthewaterfromherlungs." He said, and he began pecking at the lizard's tongue to stimulate a gag reflex.

A sudden clumsy rustling came through the brush, heading straight for Sola. She braced herself for whatever was coming, unsure of how she should react. Mild concern found its way into her mind, worried that she shouldn't have said anything seeing that she had no idea what to expect from this new world

A small form was running towards her, its small purple and blue shape making Sola relax. It was running with young, blind clumsiness of a young child. It ran towards Sola blindly, though Sola wasn't sure what from. Instinct took over, and Sola stood in its way so that it ran into her. When it hit, she rotated onto her back so the small creature lay on her stomach; her front paws holding it there. Her wings wrapped around the creature.

She would never have children; she was denied permission back in her home. But she was good with them, she often helped at nurseries and daycare's. She could make the worst toddler behave; or the saddest child smile. She reverted to that state, cradling the small bundle with her body. "Shh, shh little one, its okay, I've got you. Its ok, its okay, your safe. Shh little one." She cooed encouragements and soothing tones, trying to get the young creature to calm down.

Rowan coughed and woke up rather abruptly. Being the weird thing that she was, she panicked and fell off of.... Whatever.. She had been on.

Se.coughed up some water, shivering and slumped over, but sitting up and functioning, at least. Why... Wy was she all wet? She was in the desert mountains, she fell off a cliff, right?

Oh. Yeah. Blue light, cold water... Things made some more sense now.

Well... Sort of. How had she gotten out of the river? She heard movement and whipped around. There was a humanoid.... And a bird. A girl and... A falcon? A really small one? Rowan was unfamiliar with both of the species in front of her. But... How had they gotten her out of that river? Surely they were both too small, that current was sin and she was the size and weight of a large dog.

"Um... Did you happen to see.... Who... Pulled me out of the river there?"

In his haste to escape Qeo had inadvertently ran right into the very thing he`d been attempting to run from. Before he could react or cry out he found himself restrained by a large creature, which looked rather menacing to him. By grabbing him she had made him think she was going to kill him, and her cooing did nothing to calm him as he wasn’t paying attention, only fearing for his life.

Also, grabbing him like that had been a mistake as the moment his gleaming ruby forefoot pads made contact with her flesh, he began to absorb her energy through them involuntarily. He felt the warmth of the energy welling up within him, and quickly shouted “n-no! S-stop it!” looking distressed as he tried to wiggle free from her grasp with all of his might; freaking out, that feeling could be followed by another blank-out, and that scared him more than even she did at that moment. He managed to wriggle free severing the connection and breaking the flow of energy just in time as his blade had already started to glow a little, but now the light faded away. She was lucky that he hadn’t stricken her with it in that moment of blind panic.

He took a few steps backward, cowering low to the ground, his frills popping open and pivoting forward in a futile attempt to intimidate the stranger. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’d mean id” he apologized pathetically for having absorbed some of her energy, his voice sounded pleading “pease don’d ead me” he stammered, lowering his head submissively to her as he realized at that point that if the creature before him wanted to kill him there wouldn’t be a thing he could do to stop her. “Jus l-led me go” he half whimpered half hissed, backing up slowly “pease”.

Tambia was surprised to see a talking bird, but only mildly, because in light of being sucked into a light and appearing at a new location nothing really seemed too strange after that; she was taking the whole thing rather well actually, in her mind the more interesting a thing was all the better. She shook her head bewilderedly “hey slow down there buddy… I have no idea what you’re trying to say” the bird seemed not to even take a breath between words, she had heard lungs anyway, “whould it kill you take a pause? and just who are you anyway” she wondered aloud, looking him over. She watched him peck at the dragons tongue and backed up a little, raising a brow ‘ookaay’ she thought incredulously “well I can see that you got this, so I’ll just stay out of your way” she declared, eyes fixed on the dragon hopefully.

The dragon stirred and sat up, causing Tambia to breathe a sigh of relief, the bird had known what to do after all she was grateful. It would have been terrible to having taken a beating in that cold river for nothing. She was still shivering and aching from that experience. She wasted no time strolling up to the dragon “I am glad you are okay” she said jubilantly, she cocked her head slightly at the dragon`s question “that would be me” she declared proudly straightening up “you`re lucky I was around too—just a moment more and you might have drowned” she grinned “I’m Tambia by the way” she stated gregariously, and offered her hand to the dragon “Tambia Astarasheymeian or the clan Dragest; pleased to make your acquaintance” she gestured at the bird “and this is” she paused “well I don’t know his name, but he seems nice.. He uh helped me save you…” she declared evasively, going ahead and giving herself the credit. “What’s your name?” She asked with interest, realizing that she was probably talking too much, but it had been awhile since she had, had someone to chat with, and it was tough for her to go that long without speaking, so it was just kind of pouring out.

Order of the Shard
Setting

The setting is flexible, and will change as the characters move from world to world.

Currently, the portals are leaving people in the middle of wild, untamed jungle. The forest around you is so thick, any sunlight that filters through is a dark, shadowy green. The weather here is unpredictable, raining one minuet and crushing its inhabitants with heat the next. To add to the treachery of the landscape, you are perched on the side of a mountain, challenging every step you make with crumbling stones and jutting cliffs. Beware of your surroundings, The Order of the Shard are not your only enemies here. This planet is inhabited by dinosaurs, as it seems the portals have dumped you into some sort of prehistoric earth.

Now, you have one decision; up, or down?

Plot

The space and time continuum has been thrown wildly out of order, causing portals from across the universe to rip open at seeming random times. These portals cause a violent reaction in the area around them, sucking in all near by beings through and dumping them into a new world, in a new time. It is up to you to figure out what is going on, and how to survive in this uninhabited and hostile world. However, you are not the only one in this journey. Creatures from all sorts of other worlds, some which you could not imagine, have been pulled to this planet as well.

The reasons for the disturbances are not as random as you may think. An organization, know as The Order of the Shards, or Shard for short, also inhabits this planet. They are led by a woman who goes by the name of Anthanaisia, who believes that her cause is the only way to save the universe. She is seeking out the seven split pieces of the Great Crystal, and with its power she plans to destroy all the current worlds and create a new, perfect one.

But the shards are well protected. It is up to you and the friends you make to find the even crystal shards. The Shard of Bravery, The Shard of Faith, The Shard of Sacrifice, The Shard of Will, The Shard of Passion, The Shard of Vitality, and The Shard of Hope. With these shards, you can restore the Great Crystal. With its power, you can stop Shard and return everybody to their proper times and dimensions.

But it is not as easy as collecting the pieces. You will be racing against time itself to find the shards before Anthanasia, or perhaps racing to gather them for her. These shards will test you in trails to prove you are truly worth the honor of possessing them. Will you be able to pass the ultimate tests of character?

History
There isn't a whole lot of history right now, as the history is made by the characters.

-You can have as many characters as you can keep active

-Stay active (Tell me you are quitting before you quit)

-Athanasia and all other NPCs will be controllable by everyone.

-No Godmodding! (Your characters are not indestructible, they cannot beat everyone, and they do get tired.)

-Even though realism can be stretched in this type of RP, use common sense. Over the top, outthere concepts are not allowed.

-No insulting other players out of character

-No Powerplaying! You can not kill or control another player unless they have given you their permission! (This means no posting as any character but your own)

-No Mary/Gary sues

-When fighting another players character: never write that anything connected just what your character attempts to connect with so the other person can respond. Each person is permitted two blocks/dodges but must be hit at least once, another players character can only be killed in a fight if you have their permission before hand, so no inflicting mortal wounds.

-When fighting an NPC threat, try to refrain from making one character take all the glory. Also, try not to end an NPC battle too quickly as that is anticlimactic.

-All writing skill levels are welcome; just try to use correct spelling please.

-Keep it PG- PG-13, no particularly graphic violence, though some violence is fine and expected. No inappropriate romance, limit it to kissing, hugging, holding hands.

-Anyone caught in violation off any of these rules will either be given a warning; second offenses will get you banned.

-Other than that have fun

Character Rules

This is a many worlds RP, therefore many types of characters are welcome, and high fantasy elements are included. However, because of the sheer diversity that is possible; some character types and powers are not allowed for various reasons, but mostly in the interest of keeping things from getting out of control.

The character types that are not allowed are as follows:

-First of all this is for original characters only

-So no preexisting characters from shows, books, games ect (though an OC from the worlds of those works may be permissible as long as it fall within the guidelines of the other rules)

-No God/immortal or invulnerable characters

-No vampires, Ghosts, skeletons or undead (though non mindless werewolves and demons are permissible)

-No non-sentient characters as main characters, although you can freely add them as secondary characters

-All characters speak the common language, so no characters speaking different languages (although non speaking characters are fine)

-No Giant Characters keep the size under twelve feet in height either from the head for bipedal characters or at the shoulder for quadruped characters.

-No tiny characters, there is no standard for this so just use common sense

-No cartoonish/troll characters as they dont fit in at all

-No Omnshifters (shifters that can take any form at will) Shifters may only have up to three forms including their humanoid one.

If a banned character is added you will be asked to modify the character. If you do not comply the character will be deleted.

The powers that are not allowed are as follows:

-No unfettered healing abilities (that is to say healing that does not have restriction/take a toll on its user. Healing abilities should not be able to heal mortal wounds)

-No resurrection

-No limitless powers of any kind, (all powers should be matched by a weakness and have limits to their usage in the name of preventing OP characters and over the top-ness )

-No mind reading (this also includes powers of control, suggestion or alteration) or future sight

-No power over time and space in any form (only Athanasia has this ability- though all the characters posses the ability to open and move through portholes at otherworldly shrines)

-No omni-elementalists (that is to say characters that can use every type of elemental arcane arts.)

-No tel or pyro- kenisis (that includes things like the force)

-No instakill move of any kind, including toxicity.

-No teleportation or super speed

-No necromancy

-No acclerated regeneration

-No invisibility or walking through solid objects

If a character is added with one of these banned powers you will be asked to modify the character. If you do not comply the character will be deleted.

It is possible to visit the worlds of any character that is added, but only if the characters creator wants to. NPC and scenario control jumps to that person if their planet is visited.

New players are free to join at anytime; it is very easy to write new characters in, because of the porthole plot device. ;) Thinking of joining? Go right ahead, I will be more than happy to provide anyone with a summary who doesn`t want to read all of this.
