Rowan let out a loud snarl as Tambia's tail smashed into her shoulder, ripping up to the base of her neck before finaly sliding out of her flesh, but not before it had inflicted a four inch gash. Rowan backed up a couple of steps, snarling and shaking red blood off of her forearm as it flowed down her leg in a stream of scarlet.

She looked Tambia right in the eye.

So, looked like this human was a little more capable than she had expected. Fine, fine, that was Rowan's fault for underestimating her. Rowan made to charge again... But her foot slipped when she shifted into a better position.

Darnit... She had just about reached her limit. She was going to have to end this quickly, and SERIOUSLY get out of here.

Rowan shoved herself back up and ran at Tambia, jumping up a few deet away from her and throwing her claws out. It was a classic pounce, and it had taken the lives of several others who had crossed Rowan.

Tambia actually winced upon seeing what her tail strike had done to Rowan, she actually hadn’t meant to cut her that much, sometimes she wasn’t aware of her own strength. She might have even apologized for it under normal circumstances, but not this time. At that moment she was only concerned with winning… However, her empathy became her downfall, so focused was she on the blood dripping down Rowan’s forearm, and her botched charge that she didn’t notice the pounce until it was too late.

She was knocked right off her feet by the force of that impact, claws slicing into her chest, thorns pressing into her back. She responded immediately not giving Rowan time to do more damage by rolling back and kicking the dragon off her, before staggering in reverse, clutching her wounds. The sharp pain initiated her into a shift to her beast form, after assuming it she collapsed momentarily from exhaustion also brought about by shifting again, before forcing herself back onto her feet; resounding whiny filling the air, full of fury.

The gashes weren’t deep; she’d be fine, but she had almost no energy left. It took concentrated effort just to keep her eyes open and on Rowan, when everything in her wanted to take a nap. She shook her head vigorously in an ineffectual attempt to shake the tired away. “Enough!” she demanded suddenly, perhaps realizing that she was in trouble, and might have met her match “what good can come of this?” her fatigue could be heard in her voice “why fight? All I want is for you to apologize to Loki. You owe him that. That’s all—just apologize and you can leave” she prepared herself to defend against the dragon if it became necessary, but this had already stopped being amusing.

Rowan lowered her head and snarled, cringing internally at how weak the normaly intimidating noise was. She had lost too much blood... She needed to hurry this up. Either she ran again, which was probably a bad idea, or she made a kill blow and ended this. Both could possibly go horribly wrong, and she was going to end up worse off either way.

Out of the corner of her eye, Rowan could see a little path looking thing through the thorns. It was just big enough for her to fit through, although it was dark and she was unable to see what lay at the end of the tunnel, it was probably her best chance.

Cursing herself for being a coward and running yet again, Rowan whirled around and hightailed it down that tunnel. It was smaller than it looked, and the tough brambles drew lines of red on her silver scales. She shoved through regardless, running as fast as she could manage down the... Very, very long tunnel.

Was that a light? Rowan thought she could see the end of the tunnel. Se chraged forward, pushing through a wall of thorns that seemed to.be hlocking the exit...

And immediately regretted it.

The wall, as it turned out, seemed to serve a purpose. It was there because the tunnel went right off a cliff.

A cliff that Rowan was dangling off of, swearing later like a sailor and wondering what she had done to deserve all of this trouble.

Sola pulled away, a annoyed growl climbing from her throat. "I was home schooled thank you very much!" She snarled at the humanoid, annoyed in ever sense of today's current events. She moved to a tree, bracing her dislocated wing inside the fork of a tree. Gritting her teeth, she jerks, snaping her wings back into place with a massive amount of pain.

A snarl escaped her, and after the jolt turned into a throb, Sola suddenly felt extreamly exhausted. She was overall done with this whole experiance, and she just wanted to go home.

"Qeo?" She called out, sniffing for the dragon. "Qeo? You can come out now..."

Loki watched the fight with mild horrer. At this point, he had figured out that it was not infact the apology that Tambia sought, but rather the matter of principle. Both parties looked exhausted, and Loki wondered how he could help when a flash of blue-purple cought his eyes.

Her darted off, a sixth sense telling him to go in amongst the thorns after a dragon-like creature. It looked rather intimidating. "Hello?" He asked. "MynameisLoki, canyouhelpme? Somefriendsofminearefightingandwon'tstop." He tilted his head. "Areyouokay?" he asked, realizing the small creature looked very frigthed, and he realized he hadn't really thought to check if this creature were hostile or not.

Qeo was looking around nervously, having heard intimidating sounds somewhere in the distance; he turned around and nearly fell backward as suddenly there was a bird there that had just managed to take him completely by surprise even in an alert state of mind. He shuffled back tensely, but once he realized it was a bird he relaxed, a small bird was no threat to him. In fact, it looked edible. Qeo was a scavenger who had never learned to hunt, but that didn’t mean he didn’t try once in a while, but then it spoke. This was no ordinary bird, so he decided he couldn’t eat it, and sat down easing out of the pouncing posture he’d nearly taken to listen; surprisingly he had no trouble understanding what Loki was saying.

Worry swiftly found its way back into his eyes as he listened to the bird speak and shook his head “I can’d hewp you” he folded his frills back anxiously knowing now that those noises he had heard were large creatures fighting somewhere nearby, and he wasn’t one to go seeking out confrontations. He nodded when the bird asked him if he was okay “I miss Soa” he admitted dismally, an idea popping into his head “maybe Soa can hewp you” he perked right up thinking of that, and faced the direction he had left her from, only to balk, remembering what was also there with Sola deflated “bud dere are monsders dere” he shuddered, looking back at the bird pleadingly. He wanted to go find Sola urgently, but uncertainly kept him frozen in place. Beyond lied an unfamiliar jungle full of untold dangers, he felt safer amid the thorns.

Tambia was almost relieved to see Rowan run off into the thorns; she wouldn’t have been able to put up much more of a fight if the dragon had stayed. She sighed in an annoyed manner, she didn’t want to let Rowan get away without forcing that apology out of her first it would make all her grievance suffered in pursuit of that objective seem pointless “coward!” she called out halfheartedly, trying to maintain the charade that she was in control; she doubted that would bring the dragon back out into the open, but it was worth a try. She then dropped to her front knees exhaustedly.

Over shifting had been a mistake, but it could be so demanding to sustain her adaptive abilities, especially in the face of pain. She forced herself back up to her feet, locking her legs into place and allowing her head to drop. She felt so tired—maybe there was time for just a little nap. Her eyes played at closing, and she yawned, wanting to lay down but well aware that the thorns wouldn’t allow it.

Even though she tried to fight it; feeling it would make her vulnerable; she had drifted off to sleep, only to be pulled from it rather abruptly in a jarring fashion by loud swearing in the direction the dragon had disappeared to. She wondered what had happened up ahead, but an impassible wall of thorns blocked her path, tauntingly offering only a tunnel far too small for her to walk through as a path; the dragon was on her own, no way was she trying to force her way through that.

Sola's ears flicked quickly. There was no response. "Qeo?" She called again, trotting over to where she had last seen Qeo. When she discovered he wasn't there, panic began to set in. "Qeo! This isn't funny!" Her heart rate jumped as she spun around, looking for him desperatly.

No, no; I can't have lost him.... "QEO!" She looked to the sky, frustrated that the trees were to thick for her to get into the air. Spinning on heel, she began to track Qeo's scent; all other things forgotten. When she came to a wall of thorns, she paced, growling and snarling. She wouldn't be able to get through, not with her wings.

Desperate, she began to track around the edge of the thorns. I can't have failed... I can't....

Loki cocked his head to the side, listening to the creatures words. When he heard the speech imediment, he realized this creature must be very young. "It'sokay, I'msorrytospringthatonyou." He paused, trying to interpret what 'Soa' meant. Maybe it was this creatures term for mother? Or a name? Loki had no idea. "Idon'tknowwhoSoais." He said. "ButIcantrytohelpyoufindher." Now that his attention was away from Tambia and Rowan, his mind had almost forgotten about their predicament. "I'lltrytohelpyoufindyourSoa. Wheredidyoulastseeher?" He had perched on one of the throny branches, being small enough to avoid the thorns with relative ease. Why do I feel like I should remember something...

Rowan scrambled desperatley.  She was slidin, slowly, but still, this was bad.

She could not turn her head to see how far the drop was for fear of upsetting her already preacrious bablance.

The sense of Deja Vu was almost overwhelmig, but Rowan was sure that there would be no portal... Thing if she fell this time.

Rowan tried to brace her back legs against the wall, but all that did was push her backwwards and threatened to throw her off the cliff altogether.

She gasped and let her legs drop, another mistake. She was making a lot of those lately.

The sudden pull from her back legs dropping pulled her even further. Rowan  was struggling, milimeters away from falling to her death...

Qeo continued looking into the direction he’d left Sola longingly as Loki spoke, hardly listening at that point. “See’s dad way” he indicated the direction he was looking off into “bud dere are monsders dere” he shrank away “is nod safe” he looked conflicted; camaraderie struggling against fear. Just then his frills rotated, he heard a distant voice call his name, which caused him to liven up.

“Soa!” He called animatedly realizing she was looking for him “dad’s Soa” he chirped obviously to Loki before running back through the thorns towards where he’d come, traversing the vines nimbly; assuming no cautiousness upon exiting the thicket expectantly “Soa!” he called out again looking around eagerly. Ecstatic that she had actually come looking for him; no one had ever done so before.

Sola's ears rotated in distress as she stalked past the thorns. At first she heard nothing, but then she heard claws scrabbling on dirt. Hope pricked her stomach, maybe it was Qeo, and she picked up pace. The thorns opened up, and Sola saw a silver dragon hanging from the edge at the same time she heard Qeo's voice.

Sola bit her lip, now torn. Should she help? She wanted to get to Qeo... But she couldn't leave the dragon to die. "Qeo! I'm over here!" She called, tunring to the dragon. She looked at it, sizing how much power it would take to pull it up. "I'm going to help you, okay?" She said cautiously.

~

Loki listened, whatever had called Qeo was not of the same species. However, Qeo dashed of, leaving Loki behind. Loki sighed, and fluttered back to Tambia, his mind back on track. "Areyouok?" He asked, slightly alarmed by the reptilian equestrian's exhaustion. "Look, Imetayoungone. Hehasafriendwhomayhelpus." He pointed with his wing. "Thatway."

Rowan wasn't even aware of the large tiger's presence untill she heard Sola speak, as she had been preoccupied with staying on the cliff. Wavering between two choices ; trying to pull herself up or dropping and taking her luck with the broken wing. She  would not be able to really fly properly, but there was a chance that she could glide, or at least slow her fall. Then again, she had no idea how long that drop was...

It was at that point Sola showed up, interrupting her thoughts but probably also her death.

"Uhm... Yeah, if you don't mind I KINDOFNEEDHELP"

She screamed the last few words in fear and shock, as she had lost her last bit of grip on the cliff and slid off.

Tambia had inadvertently dosed off again only to have Loki’s voice bring her back to, “yeah fine” she said groggily yawning “just need to eat—over shifted” she yawned again. She stared off in the direction Rowan had disappeared to, before looking the way Loki pointed barely listening “we need help?” she thought a loud cocking her head. She was tired and in a bit of a predicament being in the thicket in beast form which was ungainly considering, but her injuries were minor she hardly thought she needed help. She guessed that Rowan had gotten herself into some kind of trouble, but it wasn’t like she could help; couldn’t get to her.

Tambia thought it served her right anyway, picking a fight like that, out and out refusing to apologize then deciding it was a good idea to go through a tunnel of thorns just to be recalcitrant, or in Tambia’s mind that’s what it had been about. It made her angry just thinking about it. Though she was unaware of just how much trouble the dragon was in. She snorted, and then shrugged “lead the way” she said apathetically starting off in that direction, at least there could be a way out that way so it was worth investigating, and knowing there might be others there made it interesting.

She had to pick her way carefully through the thorns, having no desire to get caught up in any of them, so it would be slow going. After a bit she heard a scream so panicked it compelled her to halt, her ears flicking as she turned her head to face the cliffs edge, without even realizing they were on a cliff; that had definitely been Rowan, she wondered what was going on, but walls of thorns blocked any view she could have possibly had. What had happened? She was upset at Rowan for sure, but that didn’t mean that she wanted the dragon to die.

Qeo dashed along the outside of the thicket urgently, having heard the Sola’s voice come from further down the path. He carried his tail high to keep his blade from touching the ground or swings too much, causing his gait to be awkward, but he had to take care not to allow it to swing around or he might cut himself with it. Qeo wasn’t the very fast, being compactly built and big headed, but he was really pushing to stay at his top speed single-mindedly. Rounding one last corner he spotted Sola up ahead, and alone much to his relief or so it seemed. “Soa!” he called delightedly closing the last of the distance, but drawing nearer revealed that there was a dragon there the very same one he had helped earlier, and it looked like it was in trouble; hanging precariously from a cliff. He arrived near to Sola just in time to witness the dragons grip fail…

Order of the Shard
Setting

The setting is flexible, and will change as the characters move from world to world.

Currently, the portals are leaving people in the middle of wild, untamed jungle. The forest around you is so thick, any sunlight that filters through is a dark, shadowy green. The weather here is unpredictable, raining one minuet and crushing its inhabitants with heat the next. To add to the treachery of the landscape, you are perched on the side of a mountain, challenging every step you make with crumbling stones and jutting cliffs. Beware of your surroundings, The Order of the Shard are not your only enemies here. This planet is inhabited by dinosaurs, as it seems the portals have dumped you into some sort of prehistoric earth.

Now, you have one decision; up, or down?

Plot

The space and time continuum has been thrown wildly out of order, causing portals from across the universe to rip open at seeming random times. These portals cause a violent reaction in the area around them, sucking in all near by beings through and dumping them into a new world, in a new time. It is up to you to figure out what is going on, and how to survive in this uninhabited and hostile world. However, you are not the only one in this journey. Creatures from all sorts of other worlds, some which you could not imagine, have been pulled to this planet as well.

The reasons for the disturbances are not as random as you may think. An organization, know as The Order of the Shards, or Shard for short, also inhabits this planet. They are led by a woman who goes by the name of Anthanaisia, who believes that her cause is the only way to save the universe. She is seeking out the seven split pieces of the Great Crystal, and with its power she plans to destroy all the current worlds and create a new, perfect one.

But the shards are well protected. It is up to you and the friends you make to find the even crystal shards. The Shard of Bravery, The Shard of Faith, The Shard of Sacrifice, The Shard of Will, The Shard of Passion, The Shard of Vitality, and The Shard of Hope. With these shards, you can restore the Great Crystal. With its power, you can stop Shard and return everybody to their proper times and dimensions.

But it is not as easy as collecting the pieces. You will be racing against time itself to find the shards before Anthanasia, or perhaps racing to gather them for her. These shards will test you in trails to prove you are truly worth the honor of possessing them. Will you be able to pass the ultimate tests of character?

Character Rules

This is a many worlds RP, therefore many types of characters are welcome, and high fantasy elements are included. However, because of the sheer diversity that is possible; some character types and powers are not allowed for various reasons, but mostly in the interest of keeping things from getting out of control.

The character types that are not allowed are as follows:

-First of all this is for original characters only

-So no preexisting characters from shows, books, games ect (though an OC from the worlds of those works may be permissible as long as it fall within the guidelines of the other rules)

-No God/immortal or invulnerable characters

-No vampires, Ghosts, skeletons or undead (though non mindless werewolves and demons are permissible)

-No non-sentient characters as main characters, although you can freely add them as secondary characters

-All characters speak the common language, so no characters speaking different languages (although non speaking characters are fine)

-No Giant Characters keep the size under twelve feet in height either from the head for bipedal characters or at the shoulder for quadruped characters.

-No tiny characters, there is no standard for this so just use common sense

-No cartoonish/troll characters as they dont fit in at all

-No Omnshifters (shifters that can take any form at will) Shifters may only have up to three forms including their humanoid one.

If a banned character is added you will be asked to modify the character. If you do not comply the character will be deleted.

The powers that are not allowed are as follows:

-No unfettered healing abilities (that is to say healing that does not have restriction/take a toll on its user. Healing abilities should not be able to heal mortal wounds)

-No resurrection

-No limitless powers of any kind, (all powers should be matched by a weakness and have limits to their usage in the name of preventing OP characters and over the top-ness )

-No mind reading (this also includes powers of control, suggestion or alteration) or future sight

-No power over time and space in any form (only Athanasia has this ability- though all the characters posses the ability to open and move through portholes at otherworldly shrines)

-No omni-elementalists (that is to say characters that can use every type of elemental arcane arts.)

-No tel or pyro- kenisis (that includes things like the force)

-No instakill move of any kind, including toxicity.

-No teleportation or super speed

-No necromancy

-No acclerated regeneration

-No invisibility or walking through solid objects

If a character is added with one of these banned powers you will be asked to modify the character. If you do not comply the character will be deleted.

It is possible to visit the worlds of any character that is added, but only if the characters creator wants to. NPC and scenario control jumps to that person if their planet is visited.

New players are free to join at anytime; it is very easy to write new characters in, because of the porthole plot device. ;) Thinking of joining? Go right ahead, I will be more than happy to provide anyone with a summary who doesn`t want to read all of this.
