Fern didn't really know where she was, or how she had gotten here. So much had happened during these past few days... All these dinosaurs with powers appearing, finding herself being telapathically warped all over the place, finding herself being welcomed into a pack of carnivorous dinosaurs (she was amazed she hadn't been eaten already), a vicious battle of some sort (during which she had been hiding, so she didn't see what happened) and now the strange mixed pack was about to move on... But she hardly knew what was going on, and no one had time to explain things to a tiny green lizard...
She crept out into the open and saw the small space-bending allosaurus, Galaxy, snuggled against a rock, gazing out into the night. Her leg was injured, from that big fight Fern supposed, and stretched out to the side. Maybe if I'm cautious I could heal it without the allosaurus noticing and eating me, Fern thought. So she stole up to the Galaxy, touched her leg as lightly as she could, filled her mind with visions of light and started healing the allosaurus.
The caves chosen to hide this group of dinosaurs...and non-dinosaur...was ideal. The walls were thick and hewed out of very dense igneous rock, black , and unyielding, capable of hiding anything from curious eyes. But the same rock channelled sound, warped it, amphified it, make it also as if one could talk with it.
"Wake up Mentor, you are having another of your bad dreams." Tharonyx nudged the troubled mass lying pressed against the cavern wall. His body wascold to the touch and his breathing was labored, yet he stirred slowly in responce to Tharonyx's urgings.
"Not a dream...a rehearsal..." Mentor whispered as not to wake anyone within the sound of his voice. "...strange isn't it that a simple lullaby can convey so much."
"What?" Thanronyx looked confused. "I didn't hear any lullaby. your going mad again." Tharonyx began clawing through the only possessions they had carried with them since the journey began. Mentor wasn't even paying attention, a toon was stuck in his head.
"Yes...Shinu, be still and listen, the sky burns, the shadows engulf, a rift appears, only when the shadows are vanquished, and the crystal bridge is destroyed. will light enter again our world and the one elect will lead the way to life." Mentor saw these things as clearly as day. "So much is still unfolding, there..."
Mentor stopped abruptly as Tharonyx had produced from a small pouch a crystal, bright and pure cut, it shown with the light of a thousand suns, yet no heat radiated from it. The stone walls about them could not contain the light, as glass cannot bar one's vision. "No! Put that away. It's not time yet, we've got to reach the crystal bridge." Mentor barked in alarm at his companion.
Tharonyx did just that, assure that the light did not show for more than a second. "Forgive me, I just wanted to help you." She pleaded and sunk back into the now dark corner of the cave.
"Its alright, it's just now I really cannot see !" Mentor sighed.
a strange small featherless raptor appeared nearby, giving off a faint purple glow. it frowned, knowing that this dinosaur, "shinu" was the chosen one. lunatome wondered about the crystal bridge. how could the chosen one have found the bridge? how could deadclaw have allowed her to find the bridge? wouldnt she have notified the others before the chosen reached it's destination?
lunatome knew the order would be upset. Something must be done about this. lunatome began scratching the shadowbind's symbol into the wall. How she missed the shadowdances at shadowbind pit... how she missed her mother's smile when father brought in more deathcrystals to trade with the outerdimension... lunatome knew she must not dwell on the past. Must a small darkness be so enslaving to your soul?
Fern finished healing Galaxy's leg. Then Galaxy's head whipped around, and she saw Fern. Fern made a blinding flash, but Galaxy kicked her again. The force of that big muscular leg (big and muscular compared to Fern) sent her flying and crashing to the ground. Now she was injured. Fortunately, she wasn't too badly hurt, mostly just bruised, for she could not heal herself. She crawled behind a pile of rocks and hid as the allosaur examined her leg.
In the distance several carnivores were gathered, and were talking. Fern was too far away to tell what they were saying. Then one of them started heading back toward the cave, toward Fern. Shinu the dimetredon. Fern wanted to run, but Galaxy was right behind her, no longer injured, and she feared that if she ran, Galaxy would instinctively eat her. But if she stayed put, Shinu would find her, and although Shinu had accepted her into her group, Fern still didn't trust any of the carnivores. She didn't know what to do, so she just pressed herself against the rock and held as still as she could, hoping no one would notice her... But she knew someone would, her bright green scales stuck out too much against the gray rock...Â
Fern nibbled on the fruit. That was kind, she thought. I wonder why she didn't eat me. Maybe she let me join or group for a reason. Or maybe not. Maybe she just wasn't hungry at the moment...
She saw the dimetredon lying next to a male spinosaurus. It made her feel sad and lonely. She remembered her family group... Oh god, she missed them... In her family group she felt like she belonged. But now, in this pack of carnivores, she felt like a nobody. She knew she should be glad she was still alive, but they were all involved in important matters of some sort, and she knew she probably couldn't help... After all, most of them were a hundred times bigger than her... She half wished one of them would eat her...
Fern slipped into a crack in the rock wall and curled up to take a nap.
At first, in the lovely and varied ancient continent of the dinosaurs, to after the apocalypse: a bleak and barren world, where the sky is dark with smog and the only thing that lights the night is the distant eruptions and wildfires.
Everyone knows the Meteor theory of how the dinosaurs died. This is set from just before to a while after. The Chosen are the few dinosaurs who survive the apocalypse, wielding their elemental powers to rebuild the world. The Chosen One will rise from The Chosen to be the one to wield all the elements. So says a prophecy older than the dinosaurs, scrawled on the walls of Crystal Cave--a cave high in the mountains, made purely of diamonds.
The elements:
Groundshaker--causes earthquakes at will, and can mold stone and dirt into any shape: pillars for protection, and even a house if they develop their powers. 0/2
Oceanweaver--uses the power of the ocean, and can perform the Water Cloak. That's where they enclose themselves and their friends is a whirling bubble of water. 0/2
Firebreather--wields the element of fire. Fire Shield (like Water Cloak, but with fire), Fire Blast, and Fire Breath. Fire Blast: summons fire in a large blast on the target. Fire Breath: Breathes fire upon target. 1/2
GrassWhistler--can manipulate the plants to do his/her will. Even can trap foes in a tree! 0/2
SpaceBender--manipulates space. When he/she does so, they typically warp an enemy or their friends and themselves. They can even put a space bubble around something, or slash through space and a foe, effectively killing the target. It's a very powerful role. 2/2
TimeWeaver--manipulates time. Can travel in time and see all the possible outcomes of something happening. Often seems very wise. 1/2
Crystal Master-- grows crystals imbued with special powers, such as the power to heal, poision, or simply wound. Crystals are sharp when broken. 1/2
ShadowDancer--manipulates the darkness. Can also cast illusions and play with people's minds. Stronger after the apocalypse. 2/2
Lightning Tamer--uses the power of lightningbolts to deal out damage. Can generate and electric field around themselves and their friends 0/2
CloudChaser--master of the atmosphere, can drain all the oxygen out of a room and control the weather. 0/2
Transformer--not an element. Guanlong-specific. Transforms into a mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex! 1/2
LightWielder--uses the power of light to blind foes, heal wounds, and make everyone happy. Stronger before the apocalypse. 1/2
The Chosen One--utelizes all the elements, but usually uses only one, like if the Chosen One was the Lightning Tamer, then they usually use electricity. NOT A CHOICE FOR CHARACTER! 0/1
You can still have names, but the title must become part of the name (on the form, you can write 'Darkness the ShadowDancer', not just 'Darkness'. Or, you could put 'ShadowDancer' in the character summary, i suppose...)

PLEASE DO NOTE that these dinosaurs are supposed to be very very special. I am limiting the amount of each to two. However, the abilities can be hereditary but must come from only one side of the family.
Some of the dinosaurs don't get along. Obviously, carnivores and herbivores don't like each other, and Tyrannosaurus Rexes are loner types--hostile and cold. The herbivores are gentle-natured, and omnivores are the mediators.
No serious gore, and keep it PG-PG13. No hogging the spotlight, and try to get along. I understand not everyone can be best friends, but still. If you have any problems, PM me.
Also, only control your character. I know the word limit is sometimes hard to meet, but please. People don't like that.
Plus, there is a posting order now that I've gotten left out a whole lot. Follow it as best you can!
