Panting, Guan ran across the landscape. He had no idea where he was. The only thing he knew was that his parents were gone. He whimpered, remembering when the sky opened up and fire rained upon him. His wide, panic-filled eyes swept across the dead plains, then up to the black-and-red sky. Where was the sun? Would it ever come back?
Guan tripped over a rock, and yowled like he'd been attacked. Seeing the rock, he relaxed. I'm getting all worked up over nothing. I need to relax and try to survive. That thought in mind, he began to walk forward at a much more relaxed pace. I need to find a friend before I go nuts!
"Ooh, a cave!" Guan cried. He could sleep there. He sniffed the air, drawing it over his tongue. There was a female Dimetrodon nearby. But there was also food and water near too. He would have to risk it.
Creeping forward shyly, Guan sidled up to a puddle and lapped at the water. He noticed eyes glowing from the cave, but forced himself to act like he didn't see them and continue drinking. He then scooched over to a dead dinosaur and munched silenty, keeping his gaurd up and growling every now and then at little noises.
Guan straightened up. I hope that she has a kind heart.
He fearlessly walked towards the cave.
Guan grinned. This Dimetrodon was a little odd, but if she was willing to help him out, then what could he say? He followed her into the cave.
"Do you know what that was that happened a few weeks ago that made the sky black?" He was frightened, and he needed someone to rely on who knew all the answers. "The sky opened up and the clouds rained fire-rocks!" He blurted.
And then it all came out. His whole story--the burning sky, the fire-rock that hit Father and killed him in one blow, how he discovered his odd ability, and the perilous journey across the barren and bleak land with no food or water for two days.
Sniffling, he finished his story and awaited the Dimetrodon's response in suspense.Guan stared, openmouthed. "Your parents tried to eat you?!" He cried, astonished. "My parents died protecting me..."
He cocked his head. "Do you think I could use my ability to get us easy food? A T-Rex hunts better than a Guanlong. Maybe better than a Dimetrodon..." He looks at her. "Nah, probably not. You look really fierce!" He bounced up to her playfully, acting like the hatchling that he was for the first time in weeks. He was overjoyed to have actually found a friend, and was starting to loosen up.
"Why do you like the darkness?" He asked, curious. He loved open spaces--the better to fit his inner T-Rex, he supposed.
"What's the big hurry?" Tharonyx pleaded with Mentor. "My belly is still empty and more so now that you've picked up the pace. Besides, where exactly are we going anyway? We're lost aren't we? I should have known following a blind old grump like you..."
"Can we please be civil here..." Mentor replied back to his travelling companion, "Over to those crags and the caves therein, you see."
"I see fine...it's you that can't" Tharonyx, quickly stopped, holding her tongue. "i'm sorry Mentor, I didn't mean to offend you."
"Ha! That's a good one" the huge Triceratops laughed almost to the point of tears running down his eyes.
"What? What, did I say that was so funny?" a bewildered Tharonyx pleaded.
"Your joke...2 Tyrannosaurs and a stick." Mentor said trying hard not to laugh again. "Oh, forgive me that's not for some time yet. Right now we've got to get to those caves and warn them before its too late!"
"Warn whom? Before what?" Tharonyx jumped, "Mentor your speaking in riddles again....and I'm still hungry."
At first, in the lovely and varied ancient continent of the dinosaurs, to after the apocalypse: a bleak and barren world, where the sky is dark with smog and the only thing that lights the night is the distant eruptions and wildfires.
Everyone knows the Meteor theory of how the dinosaurs died. This is set from just before to a while after. The Chosen are the few dinosaurs who survive the apocalypse, wielding their elemental powers to rebuild the world. The Chosen One will rise from The Chosen to be the one to wield all the elements. So says a prophecy older than the dinosaurs, scrawled on the walls of Crystal Cave--a cave high in the mountains, made purely of diamonds.
The elements:
Groundshaker--causes earthquakes at will, and can mold stone and dirt into any shape: pillars for protection, and even a house if they develop their powers. 0/2
Oceanweaver--uses the power of the ocean, and can perform the Water Cloak. That's where they enclose themselves and their friends is a whirling bubble of water. 0/2
Firebreather--wields the element of fire. Fire Shield (like Water Cloak, but with fire), Fire Blast, and Fire Breath. Fire Blast: summons fire in a large blast on the target. Fire Breath: Breathes fire upon target. 1/2
GrassWhistler--can manipulate the plants to do his/her will. Even can trap foes in a tree! 0/2
SpaceBender--manipulates space. When he/she does so, they typically warp an enemy or their friends and themselves. They can even put a space bubble around something, or slash through space and a foe, effectively killing the target. It's a very powerful role. 2/2
TimeWeaver--manipulates time. Can travel in time and see all the possible outcomes of something happening. Often seems very wise. 1/2
Crystal Master-- grows crystals imbued with special powers, such as the power to heal, poision, or simply wound. Crystals are sharp when broken. 1/2
ShadowDancer--manipulates the darkness. Can also cast illusions and play with people's minds. Stronger after the apocalypse. 2/2
Lightning Tamer--uses the power of lightningbolts to deal out damage. Can generate and electric field around themselves and their friends 0/2
CloudChaser--master of the atmosphere, can drain all the oxygen out of a room and control the weather. 0/2
Transformer--not an element. Guanlong-specific. Transforms into a mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex! 1/2
LightWielder--uses the power of light to blind foes, heal wounds, and make everyone happy. Stronger before the apocalypse. 1/2
The Chosen One--utelizes all the elements, but usually uses only one, like if the Chosen One was the Lightning Tamer, then they usually use electricity. NOT A CHOICE FOR CHARACTER! 0/1
You can still have names, but the title must become part of the name (on the form, you can write 'Darkness the ShadowDancer', not just 'Darkness'. Or, you could put 'ShadowDancer' in the character summary, i suppose...)

PLEASE DO NOTE that these dinosaurs are supposed to be very very special. I am limiting the amount of each to two. However, the abilities can be hereditary but must come from only one side of the family.
Some of the dinosaurs don't get along. Obviously, carnivores and herbivores don't like each other, and Tyrannosaurus Rexes are loner types--hostile and cold. The herbivores are gentle-natured, and omnivores are the mediators.
No serious gore, and keep it PG-PG13. No hogging the spotlight, and try to get along. I understand not everyone can be best friends, but still. If you have any problems, PM me.
Also, only control your character. I know the word limit is sometimes hard to meet, but please. People don't like that.
Plus, there is a posting order now that I've gotten left out a whole lot. Follow it as best you can!
