Kin watched Cyrus meditate and thought 'That's it... Figure it out... once we have control over it we can get our revenge...' Kin started purring at the thought of revenge. Mai said "Kin you're doing it again." Kin stopped purring and looked embaressed "Thanks Mai." Honestly Kin did not know what she'd do without Mai. She laid back and realized this was the first soft thing she laid on since the lab. So she felt comfortable and fell asleep. Mai cuddled up to Kin and snored softly even if their ears were on the alert even in their sleep. It was the weirdest thing but they were counting on Cyrus then and there to keep them out of trouble. It was a moment of surrender that was rare for Kin.

Cyrus felt great he was able to contact his feral side. He looked over at Kin and Mai. He then looked over at Rhett. Cyrus looked down at his ankle afterward. "I wonder," he said. He grasped his foot with both hands and inhaled and exhaled. With a growl, and another focusing session, Cyrus's eyes turned red once more. He turned his hands fast, feeling his ankle pop back into place. Cyrus let out a snarl of pain and anger, cursing out loud. He then struck the ground with his fist and waited there until the pain went away. Afterward, he slowly stood and realized what he'd done. He fixed his ankle. "Son of a wolfshead, I did it," said Cyrus. He moved his foot, feeling the freedom once more. Cyrus walked around, with his ankle doing fine. "Yes!" he exclaimed, performing a backflip. He landed on his feet without pain to them, but remembered his right wing injuruy. "Ow, forgot about that," he said, having to take a moment to forget the slight pain in his wing. He walked over to a tall and thick tree and studied its shape. "Hm," he said, pondering what to do. His eyes turned amber as he leaped onto the tree. Digging his nails into the bark for purchase, Cyrus began to climb the tree. He chuckled as he did so, making it all the way to the top. It was his first time being up in a really tall tree. He looked out, examining the island. "Whoa," said Cyrus. It was beautiful. Colorful birds flew by in a flock. Cyrus could hear them chirping and could also hear the sounds of other animals from miles away. "Keen hearing, it never gets old or boring," said Cyrus, smiling. The landscape was beautiful. Cyrus's smile went away as he thought of Liam. "If only you could be here to see it, man," said Cyrus, looking up at the sky.

Cyrus then walked out onto a large, thick branch that stuck out over the ground. He looked down at the others. "They look like ants," said Cyrus. He refocused on his balance. Surprisingly, focusing caused him to remain still on the branch. Closing his eyes at the edge of the branch, Cyrus began to contact his feral side one more time. As he did so, his wings began to spread. Cyrus's tail straightened outward as his ears flattened against his head. He felt his teeth sharpen as he growled. The amber eyes turned red, gleaming bright. Cyrus opened them and, with a bestial roar, leaped off of the high branch. It was a forty foot drop, and Cyrus' wings were tucked like a falcon's. His arms were pinned back to his sides and his legs were straightened and side by side. Cyrus looked toward the ground as he dove, his ears remaining flat. His tail whipped in the wind. Once he was five feet off the ground, Cyrus pulled up with a snarl. He regained altitude, flying under the cover of the trees. He remembered to stay near the others and not to fly to far. "This is awesome," he growled. It suddenly occurred to him that he could now speak fluently in his feral form. A deer caught his attention. To Cyrus's surprise, it was a big buck with large antlers. Weapons and food, perfect, thought Cyrus. He dove toward the deer silently. The buck didn't even see him coming. Cyrus smirked with a growl as he closed in from above. The stag looked up at the last minute. AARF! Cyrus bowled into the buck, quickly biting down on its throat. The buck's bleat was hoarse and not even loud enough to draw attention or call for help. Cyrus flew into the air with the deer, the buck now dead.

Cyrus spiraled out of the way of an eagle. He soared back over to the others, landing within the makeshift camp. He rested the deer on the ground and wiped the blood from his mouth. He disengaged with his feral side, his eyes returning to normal. Cyrus folded his wings and began to make a fire. He chopped off the antlers, only after praying and thanking over the deer. He then skinned it, getting the good parts of the deer and leaving out the hooves and bones for teeth picking. I used to do this with Liam....thanks for teaching me, brother, thought Cyrus, beginning to cook the deer meat.

As Rhett settled into the place the women had picked to stop and make camp his attention was immediately grabbed by the fruit. A veritable cornucopia, his eyes widened and his moth watered looking around at it all with eager eyes like a kid in a candy shop. So many--he didn`t know which one to try first. He darted about zealously, collecting as many different fruits as he could carry, and sampling each one with tongue flicks before settling on a banana. Which he initially bit into without peeling first and scowled ‘bleh’ he thought with a sour face, and nearly tossed the thing away, before getting a taste of the interior. ‘so good’ he smiled, and tried the next fruit; catching Cyrus`s movements out of the corner of his eye as the man climbed a tall tree and disappeared ‘I wonder where he`s going?’ he thought curiously, considering following for a moment, but he was happy enough just doing what he was doing.

Soon Cyrus returned with a dead deer the moment he caught sight of that he was gone. He headed up a tree in disgust with fruit in tow, already feeling a bit nauseous. He wouldn’t let the sight or the smell of it ruin his appetite. He still had some fruits he hadn’t tried yet.

Sola walked with a confidence that all felines seemed to posses. She walked reletivly silently, weaking through thorns and bushes. Once her mind was set, she didn't easily change her mind. Zarya trailed behind, but felt she was going the wrong way.

Zarya eventually stoped following Sola and turned around. Spreading her wings, she flew south, though she was wobbly and not the greatest at it. The island was a better sounding solution to her. Everything was quite, she just wanted to be safe.

Sola however wanted freedom. There was a choice, freedom or safty. You could never have both, because one could not exsist with the other. She enjoyed the smell of pine and snow of the distance, loved the wind that lifted her hair, and cherished the soft crunch of dirt beneath her feet.

Lexy finally reached the shore of the island, coming in for a soft landing before simply face planting into the sand. She was exhausted, but so relieved to have land back under her ‘what a nightmare’ she groaned, rolling over and spreading out. She didn`t feel like she could take another step. After a moment she forced herself into a sitting position, feeling a fool. Her ears dropped as she spotted yet another forest up ahead, but this one was a dense tropic jungle. ‘Great’ she sighed discontentedly ‘here we go again’ she huffed getting all the way to her feet. ‘Get over it' she was annoyed at herself for disliking the woods so much ‘I mean, I’m part cat for crying out loud’ she though ironically ‘I’m embarrassing myself hereâ€â€just need to suck it up and go, it`s in my blood’ with that she stomped off into the jungle, head held high with pride. Nothing was about to get the best of her; she wouldn't let it.

It didn`t take her long to pick up the smell of cooking meat. Being as hungry as she was, she immediately picked up pace ‘that has to be them’ she thought knowingly, and yet the smell was faint they were still some distance ahead. She sighed frustrated, she`d come so far and yet there was still a ways to go; her steps already felt pressing.

Rowan yawned and streached, carefull not to hit her wings on the cave roof. Well, not a cave really, more of a shelf cut into a cliff. It was only about three feet deep, and while it was a little claustrophobic, it did make for an okay sleeping spot. She crawled out, jumping off the jedge. It was a good fifty feet off the ground, but the fall did not bother her. SHe spread her wings at the last second and glided.

She took a sniff of the air upon landing. The scent from the others who had escaped was fainter... seems they had gone south.

SHe knew that was a bad idea... following them, that would be.... but something compelled her to.

She decided to follow. She would not interact or talk to them, but it would be nice to see what they looked like and what they were getting themselves into.

Kin and Mai carefully cooked the deer smoking meat for later and getting some actual shelter built. Kin thought it might rain and they wanted even a crude roof over their heads. Layering big leaves and tying them together with grass and vines they put a roof on their structure it let the smoke from the fire out and part of the walls were rocks with holes to let a breeze through but could be covered up and the upper parts were made of bamboo it was large enough for at least six and the girls were pleased with themselves and had even made elevated cots to lay on off the ground. The whole thing looked like brush and was well hidden. It had only taken them a few hours to make. There was a latrine a ways off and a stream close by. They were set and comfortable but still they could flee it and make another just as easily. Then they started making stone tools having taken classes on stone age survival as an elective during college. They'd actually known what to do with Cyrus's antler and were working on spears and a comb saving their actual knives for other things.
Cyrus joined the girls in setting up shelter. Made sure everything stayed in place and even added on some fencing out of the sticks, vines, and bamboo. While doing so, he bit into the cooked deer meat he had. After he was done, Cyrus began to sharpen the antler tines and even tie them to thick and sturdy sticks. Cyrus placed out the fourteen weapons he made and sat back. He bit into the deer meat again and finished it all. The wolf boy, well man now, examined the work he and the others did. "We got food, weapons, shelter, and....I can smell a river just half a mile away from where we are now," he said. "I think we can pull this off," said Cyrus. He yawned, stretching his arms, legs, and wings. He then rested his back on the ground, propping his head on the hoodie he took off. He drummed his fingers against his stomach and looked up at the sky. The clouds were passing. Cyrus watched them with a smile. "Cloud watching....an old time favorite me and Liam used to do as kids when we had a skylight in our pen," said Cyrus. He blinked as one of the clouds formed before his eyes. It formed into a howling wolf. Cyrus was amazed. Wow, he thought. Another cloud joined the wolf-cloud. The cloud suddenly formed into a fox. Cyrus was taken aback. Two more clouds joined, with both forming into an iguana and a smaller, tail wagging wolf. The clouds floated away together. Cyrus's eyebrows arched as his eyes bulged. "Was that a sign?" he asked himself.
Kin and Mai had to fix what Cyrus had done and show him how to do it. It really was delicate work the tips had to be affixed a certain way it was an actually complex process. Just tying the tips on wasn't going to do it. They had to carve the antler tip and shaft so they fit together with a notch for tying it on. Much sturdier and more airodynamic. Kin's tiny fingers were good at this. Mai started scraping the deer hide and tanning it removing the hair. Mai and Kin could make some clothes or a water skien out of it. They had to teach Cyrus how to do it. Rhett was still eating fruit. The girls knew how to survive. Now they just had to teach Cyrus and get ready for a fight.

The others were done cooking, the smell had faded appreciably and only then did Rhett abandon his perch high up in the trees to see what everyone was up to. He gawked at the shelter in amazement, which they had somehow managed to finish in only the time he was avoiding them. “You guys are amazing!†he beamed, shuffling around the structure, examining ever part of it with keen interest. Then over to where they all were to get a closer look at the tools they were making. “That’s so cool†he commended them in awe, but then again he was easily impressed, and probably would have flipped over just about anything with as much zeal. He scooted closer tilting his head, he wanted to try too, but didn`t dare ask if they wanted help. He knew he would just be in the way, and that he didn`t know how to do any of that anyway. So he decided just to watch, but first he busied himself with collecting more of his favorite fruits, he had the appetite of an iguana it seemed that is to say voracious. After gathering an armful of fruit he crouched near the Cyrus, Kin and Mai, eyes fixated on their work while he noisily ate the fruits, wiping the juices off his face between bites “I wish I could make stuff†he affirmed avidly after a moment “you guys have got to show me how to do that sometime†he petitioned them keenly standing up “I bet I’d be good at it†he declared with poise “I’m good at everythingâ€Â. However, just then Mai began to scrape the deer hide, and just like that Rhett retreated high up into the trees out of sight again; he had no desire to be near that. Up until then he`d forgot that bloody thing was still there. He sighed feeling bored already, settling into a comfortable position with his back against the trunk for stability way up there. He`d give them ample time to finish clearing out that deer before he came back down.

It took awhile but Lexy found their camp. Staying hidden, she took some time to survey them, noticing one of the guys from before was missing; the oaf that had knocked her down and taken her food. She didn`t think anything of that one’s absence, figuring he was probably of in the woods somewhere. It appeared that they were resourceful having a rudimentary looking shelter up and everything. It seemed that they were planning on staying right where they were for a while and that suited Lexy just fine. She had been on her feet constantly since escaping ‘I am so done with traveling’ she thought contrarily, folding her arms and scowling. She felt exhausted and just wanted to eat. She wondered if one ordeal had ended just to herald the start of another. Thinking about the best way to approach them, she decided being sneaky was a waste of time, they had keen senses just like her no doubt they were aware on some level that she was out there spying on them, or if they weren’t they would be shortly, because they all looked to be on the alert.

‘Well her goes nothing’ she took a breath, a frontal approach wasn’t really her thing, but it felt like the right move. With that she stepped out into their camp in a nonthreatening manner, holding her hands up to convey her intentions “well hello there†she started smiling awkwardly, standing still “don`t worry I’m not here to steal anything†she declared convincingly lowering her hands “I know we didn`t exactly get off to a good start before, but…†she paused “I was just wondering if you could spare some food?†How about it?â€â€one experiment to another? Be a friend†she was doing her best to sound cordial and sincere, but speaking hastily “sharing is caring am I right?†she added rhetorically looking expectant “of course I am†she smirked wryly, standing her ground waiting to see what they would do.

ROwan adjusted her wings, throwing them upwards and catching a thermal. There was blood  scent... somewhere around here. Then she saw the riverbank; mud and blood splattered all over the place, plants trampled. "They sent the hunters after them'' she breathed. All that blood... nobodu could loose that much blood and live to tell the tale. Someone had died here alright. She floded her wings neatly and began to survey the area. IF they had just escaped, they might have stolen things. If they had stolen things, they may have dropped them in the hunter attack.

Rowan searched the area and found nothing worthwhile. A switchblade dropped byone of the lab workers, but she already had two of those. The battered remains of one of the hunter's collars,a shredded piece of leather with spikes on it. Well, that might prove usufull, you never know.

SHe had notfound what she was looking for. "Dangit..." she growled under her breath. Then she noticed a spot in the trees, a little trampled. Probably the spot where the scout had been, as they always sent scouts before an attack. Then she noticed it; a paper. She ran over and grabbed it... Yes! THIs was exactly the kind of thing that she was looking for. She looked around a little longer, but she still could not find any more. No matter, she had this one.

Kin and Mai looked at the cat girl and sat her down feeding her then saying, "You want a regular supply you'll have to work for it. We'll teach you how but you can't complain about it." Kin started showing her how to make stone tools. Mai got back to scraping that deer hide. Kin had a large number of blanks on hand and could show this girl how to do it. "What's your name?" Mai had almonst removed all the hair from the hide and all the lingering amounts of flesh. It was hard work but it had to be done. Mai and Kin were working hard and Rhett was apparently repulsed by blood. Kin and Mai were working on staying alive and they weren't going to let themselves go hungry or deny themselves anything they needed.

‘Work for it?’ Lexy nearly gagged internally repeating that in her mind, she had hoped to spend a lot of time resting after her ordeals, but her expression remained amiable refusing to betray her true stance. She was glad to seemingly be accepted into their group without anymore incident however.

“Of course, no complaints hereâ€â€I expected nothing less†she nodded “I will work hard†she lied ‘I wouldn’t bet on that’ she thought knowingly, pretending to be interested in what the fox woman was doing. She watched jadedly “actually†she started after a bit “I prefer working with wood†she declared firmly, recognizing that stone wasn’t the easiest material to work with “I don’t like to brag or anything, but I’m an accomplished whittler†she straightened up with pride “your work is passable, but it lacks visual flair†she affirmed unflatteringly “but I blame the medium you’re using; the potential is there†she added, backhand complimenting them “stone is tougher to work with, and doesn’t lend itself to fine carving like wood†she said thoughtfully “let me show you what I mean†she grinned immodestly, producing a curved knife handle finely carved from wood  out of a pocket in her cargo vest. It exhibited an intricately inlayed forest scene with a buck standing off to one side, but it was only a handle, lacking a blade. She had spent many hours whittling back at the lab, it was a way to pass the time and help keep her mind off of all the hardships. She had been forced to use a diminutive whittling knife as the scientist wouldn’t trust the experiments with a knife that could potentially be used to stab them, but the endeavor of it had created skillful hands and a keen eye for details. Though, she seemed dull to the fact that ornamental tools often weren’t practical for use. “Gorgeous isn’t it?†she asked shamelessly, fishing for compliments “I can make more things like this if you wantâ€Â.

Hearing the fox women ask for her name she snapped to attention, realizing she had completely blanked on the introductions “oh yes, how rude of me†she apologized “the name`s Lexy…and you guys are?†she looked around at the three of them, thinking maybe they would get along better then she had initially thought; the fox women at least seemed intelligent, so there was at least the potential for stimulating conversation, but there was no accounting for the intellect of the others yet. She had yet to meet Rhett who was still hanging out in the tree top giving Mai ample time to finish messing with the deer.

Kin growled and said "That thing is purely decorative. Stone tools like the ones I am trying to show you how to make are purely pracitcal." She handed Lexy the comb she'd been working on and said "But if you insist finish making this comb and then give me that knife we need to keep our metal sharp in case we have need of something stronger than flint. If you don't want to make stone tools I can start teaching you medicine or you can pick fruit, learn to weave, learn to hunt, gather firewood, if we find clay and bees you can make pottery we need clay and bee's wax for that or even learn to make clothes when Mai over there is done scraping that hide and making an awl out of some bone and some cord. We can't afford to have a useless eater on our hands. If you're injured or sick however which you neither look or smell we'll pick up the slack then. But if we are sick or injured we expect you to do the same." Mai finished with the hide and used a stone tool to carve an awl out of antler. (An awl is used to punch holes in leather for sewing it up. Bee's wax is used to waterproof more primitive clay works.)

A Storm Rising
Setting

Just on the outside of the lab.

There are trees, about a half a mile of them completely surround the lab. Tall, loblolly pines.

If you get farther out to the north, a snowy cliff.

To the east, also cliffs, but these are warmer. Less trees, but lots of rivers flow through.

You're going to hit a dead end if you go south, but it might work for you. It's a beach, and there is a tropical island about five miles off the coast.

Whatever you do... Don't go west.

Plot

Shh... They'll hear you.

If they catch you, then they'll take you back to the lab.

That's the last thing you want.

So spread your wings and fly, fight them, or outsmart them.

What you do now will change your life.

History

You my friend, are nothing more than an experiment.

You seem to be human at first glance. Then, upon further inspection, one would see your wings.

If they look closer, they will see some other animal quality.

They will scream and run.

What do you think you are doing, running away from me?

I will find you.

You will regret this.

...That all creeped you out, right? Unerved you a little?

I wonder who was talking to you just them...hmm...

WHELP, anyway, here's the rules.

You have JUST NOW escaped the lab, that is where you start. (In the woods.) If you don't know, Loblolly pines are tall, skinny pines. they only have branches at the top. (Real life truffula trees, only a lot taller.)

You MUST have two Oc's. One will be killable, one not.

You have wings. The wings can look however you want.

in addition to your wings, you also have some qualities from another animal. THis may be any real animal that is alive today, and you must use only ONE other animal. (EX: Cat ears and tail, fangs and snake eyes, gills and tinted skin.)

I controll all scientists/staff/wild animals/ things you will encounter if you make the poor decision to go west.

You do not pick which of your OC's is killable. I may kill either one of them.

Get my permission before killing an OC.

(Yes, I am being a controll freak with this RP, but I'm trying something new with it and I think it will be interesting.)

Quick note- You may encounter a person who goes by "Rowan," "Silver," "Menace," or any combination of these three names.. She seems to be an escapee from a while back... will she help or hurt you?

Pmme with questions BEFORE making a character.

Good luck then.
