It had all happened so fast, there had been joy and serenity; then panic. Rhett had surfaced to see if anyone had joined him in his play just in time to see Liam be killed. His pupils shrank, his smiling face twisting into a look of horror. Instinctively had had dove to the riverbed and laid flat, disturbing it into a fog to cloak himself. He could hold his breath for quite a while and he waited there still as death until he could hold his breath no more.
The previously inviting water had turned crimson around where Liam had been, and had yet to be completely dispersed by the river. He shuffled out of the water hastily, breathing heavily as he looked around wildly. Everyone was gone, he was alone; he wondered with dread if they had all been killed as well. He rolled around in the leaf litter frantically trying to get the smell of blood off of him. It wasn’t much of a smell, but it was there.
He was shocked, the whole thing had happened so fast. He was still trying to make sense of it. It hadn’t fully set in. He ran into the woods nearly in tears, unsure of what to do. Shortly he saw Cyrus again and much to his relief Kin and Mai were with him. He stayed where he was in stunned shock just watching them, still trying to register mentally what had happened. His eyes stayed wide as he listened to Cyrus speak, but he nodded at Cyrus to let him know he understood, spreading his own wings and staying silent for once.
The air welcomed Sola as she flew, flew north as quickly as she could. She wings wraped the air in their embrace, manipulating it to push her forward. She would never go back, would die before she ever was captured again.
Exhaustion tugged at the edge of her vision, she needed to take a break. Extending her claws, she landed in the top of a loblolly pine. She claws griped into the soft bark as she balanced percarously on the small limb. Freedom. It tasted so sweet to her, a far off objective she had never been able to touch before. Now that it was hers, she intended to keep it, and tear into anyone who dared get in the way of that. She would finally be what she wanted.
Or atleast, a muntant version of that.
Zarya stumbled, her wings opening to helop her catch her balence. She couldn't stop... couldn't stop. She had to get away, to flee, to escape the torture and pain and misery. Tears sprang in her eyes as branched vicously whipped across her skin. I can't go back... I can't...
She tripped again, this time falling into the dirt and mud beneath the trees. Her palms and knees scarped, she scrambled behind and old stup, biting her lip to quite the sobbing that was clawing from her throat like the mutant she was. She couldn't be free, it was to good to be true. Something like her... couldn't... shouldn't exsist. Why would they torture her like this? Let her think she was free... They would drag her back any moment and bring back the pain. She just knew it.
Rhett followed the others lead, but flew out of formation as he didn`t understand what they were doing. The group had become glum, and understandably so, considering the weight of the event that had transpired back there. Rhett wasn’t one for serious conversation, well that and he didn`t understand most of what they were talking about, and stayed out of their chat entirely. He couldn`t talk about the past anyway, he simply didn’t remember, and he didn`t think it was important. Rhett had always existed in the present and that had worked for him. That had kept him positive despite being a prisoner in the lab, confined, isolated and subjected to experiments, but he`d always been alright through it all. He had his enduring optimism to carry him through. Witnessing someone get killed had stunned him into silence however, that wasn’t something his mind was willing to deal with, despite having barely known the guy. Full of conflicting emotions he fell behind a bit; watching the glittering waters of the sea below, and being comforted by the sight of it. It made him feel like everything was going to be alright. He had met others after all and had a chance to make friends something he’d never had. He believed that as long as they stuck together good things were bound to happen. Ignorance is bliss.Â
Lexy was unaware of the misfortune that had befallen the group she stalked. She had been lost in the woods at the time. She kept finding ticks on her especially in the areas that were furred “you’ve got to be kidding me!†she nearly yelled tearing yet another off ‘I hate this forest’ she stomped her foot tetchily, but was instantly reassured by light flooding in ahead, surely that meant there were no trees there. She ran madly for the light, finding the trees giving way to sand to expose a beach. ‘Finally’ she thought elatedly ‘I could kiss this sand’ she sighed then went to work grooming herself, smoothing the fur on the sides of her face and combing her hair with her claws before going to work picking all the burs out of her cloths, fur and wings. Only when she was done did she bother looking for the others, but much to her chagrin they were nowhere to be seen, and there scent ended at the water’s edge.
Thinking for a moment she realized what that meant ‘I bet they went to that island’ she thought knowingly. She frazzled her hair with her hand aggravated growling “but how do I get there?†she thought incredulously, realizing that flying wasn’t exactly her thing. Had she traveled all that way for nothing? No way was she about to give up; she`d resolved to tail them and intended to do just that. She took a deep breath forcing herself to take to the wing, finding she was alright as long as she didn`t look down. She kept her gaze fixed forward heading for the island. Though she found herself wondering reservedly if she would have the stamina to make that flight, considering she had never really used her wings, and she hadn’t eaten for a while. However, her resolve did not falter and she stayed the course persistently.
The man sat quietly, looking at the video monitor. Several of the Fusions had mamaged to get off the beach by now... It would be impossible to send the hunters after them. The mongrels could not swim, and could only fly for a short distance.
He turned his head, focussing his attention on the other screen. A few others were still on land... Hmm.
Well, those were easily reclaimed.Â
Subject 48 was, as usual, nowhere to be seen.
Well, that was better than her helping the others.
He switched off the screen and left. He strutted through the halls like a king would strut through his pallace, reaching the room. Examination room 4. The door opened automatically when he swiped the ID card through the slot.
In the room, there were a few lab workeres gathered around a metal table hosting a dead fusion. The lionXhawk fusion. His throat had been ripped out by the Hunters, proving them useless. They were supossed to bring the Fusions back alive. Well, he needed to hetsomething better anyway, if he was going to go after the ones headed to the islands. He strode over to the computer in the room, turning it on and browsing through the files. He found one that caught his eye quickly. The lead worker came over "D-did yu need anything... S-sir?"
"Yeeees..... get twenty five of these ready. Initiate plan.... Raptor."
Sola leaned back on her perch, looking each direction for some clue of where to go now. To the north was mountian; that apealed to her greatly. She was partial siberian tiger, and that meant she liked snow. To the east, the moutains curved inward, covering that line of direction as well. They didn't appear to have the snow caped peaks of the others. To the south, there was a beach. Roumers had it an island was somewhere off the coast, but it would be risky for her to cross without assurance.
Her mind decided, she dropped out of the tree. She landed on her feet, rolling forward to balance the shock of landing. She then went north, unaware that others lie to the south.
~~
Zarya's heart thudded in her chest, no one had discovered her. No one...
A person, one with wings, droped out of a tree a few feet away. Zarya silently began following, seeking protection.
Cyrus dropped on his bottom next to Kin and Mai. He looked around for any signs of danger or intruders. When he saw none, he sat back and relaxed. The images of Liam ran through his mind. He remembered how when they were little kids, they would prank or scare the scientists that had to watch and babysit them. Liam had made Cyrus's life a whole lot easier in the lab. Now that he was gone, a big part of Cyrus's life had left with Liam. Cyrus didn't want to cry anymore, he wanted the scientists who released those mutts, dead. But he couldn't go back. They were probably still in the area and with Kin, Rhett, Mai, and Cyrus being this far south, it would take them days to even find them. Cyrus wrapped his falcon-like wings around his body for some warmth. He felt dead inside, like he was about to go emo or something. But Cyrus couldn't just slip into a depressed mind state. He had to stay vigilant and alert in case of an emergency. His ankle still needed tending to. Cyrus remembered to stay off of it and land smoothly to keep from hurting it. He looked over at Kin and Mai. Sisters, he thought. Kin's the oldest and more mature...Mai's youngest, still needing the guidance and protection of Kin, thought Cyrus. He admired that about the two. They stayed together no matter what. Cyrus was like Liam's older brother in a way. Liam was the little brother who got on his nerves, but they still were friends. Cyrus then looked over at Rhett. Wasn't he supposed to have a partner with him? Cyrus wondered. Rhett was alone when Cyrus attacked him. Cyrus smiled at the thought of how Rhett thought Cyrus was just playing with him that night. I wish I was, thought Cyrus. His feral side. He needed to control it. On the next full moon, how would he do now that Liam was gone? Cyrus got an idea suddenly.
He unwrappd himself, sat Native American style, and splayed his hands. He then closed his dark-brown eyes and folded in his wings. Cyrus began to think about the torturing nights in the quarantined pen, how the guards would make fun of him. He wanted to get angry to get in contact with his feral side, but he also wanted to control it. What he was doing was dangerous, but he had a feeling that Liam's death and last wish was going to help him take over his feral side and master it. They all were going to need it if the scientists found them. Cyrus had to be prepared to defend his pack. It hit him. My pack, he thought. Kin, Mai, Rhett...they're like my new pack. A wolf always helps protect his pack, thought Cyrus. He shuddered as he thought deeply. Suddenly, he felt something in his mind unlock. Cyrus's heart beat began to speed up. His body temperature was rising. Cyrus's splayed hands suddenly balled into fists. A low growl emanated from his throat. Cyrus knew what it was. On that note, his eyes shot open, and they were amber. But the amber coloring turned crimson. Cyrus thought he would go wild, but he was shocked to see he was still sane. He hadn't blacked out. Cyrus smirked as he realized he just contacted his feral side without the full moon. He released the connection, his eyes glowing from red, to amber, to dark-brown. He unballed his fists and stopped shuddering. The real test was on the next full moon. I can do this, he thought.
Just on the outside of the lab.
There are trees, about a half a mile of them completely surround the lab. Tall, loblolly pines.
If you get farther out to the north, a snowy cliff.
To the east, also cliffs, but these are warmer. Less trees, but lots of rivers flow through.
You're going to hit a dead end if you go south, but it might work for you. It's a beach, and there is a tropical island about five miles off the coast.
Whatever you do... Don't go west.
Shh... They'll hear you.
If they catch you, then they'll take you back to the lab.
That's the last thing you want.
So spread your wings and fly, fight them, or outsmart them.
What you do now will change your life.
You my friend, are nothing more than an experiment.
You seem to be human at first glance. Then, upon further inspection, one would see your wings.
If they look closer, they will see some other animal quality.
They will scream and run.
What do you think you are doing, running away from me?
I will find you.
You will regret this.

...That all creeped you out, right? Unerved you a little?
I wonder who was talking to you just them...hmm...
WHELP, anyway, here's the rules.
You have JUST NOW escaped the lab, that is where you start. (In the woods.) If you don't know, Loblolly pines are tall, skinny pines. they only have branches at the top. (Real life truffula trees, only a lot taller.)
You MUST have two Oc's. One will be killable, one not.
You have wings. The wings can look however you want.
in addition to your wings, you also have some qualities from another animal. THis may be any real animal that is alive today, and you must use only ONE other animal. (EX: Cat ears and tail, fangs and snake eyes, gills and tinted skin.)
I controll all scientists/staff/wild animals/ things you will encounter if you make the poor decision to go west.
You do not pick which of your OC's is killable. I may kill either one of them.
Get my permission before killing an OC.
(Yes, I am being a controll freak with this RP, but I'm trying something new with it and I think it will be interesting.)
Quick note- You may encounter a person who goes by "Rowan," "Silver," "Menace," or any combination of these three names.. She seems to be an escapee from a while back... will she help or hurt you?
Pmme with questions BEFORE making a character.
Good luck then.
