Azull greeted the smaller than him, but cute bird. "Hola señorita!" he said "My name is azull, Yours?". He waited for an answer as he gazed in her eyes, and admired her brilliant feathers. They were so beautiful. Such pretty shades of orange. She told him her name as he was staring at her feathers. "Ahh, tangerine," he said to her "would you enjoy to come with me to very enjoyable crystal clear lake, my lady?". He bowed and raised his left wing. He opened his right eye hoping that the beautiful bird would just hopfuly join him to the lake.
Tangerine laughed and said no. She was slightly intimidated by this huge bird. Tangerine suddenly wondered where Scraw was.Was he in hiding, watching their every move? She shivered and decided to preen for a bit. The other birds nearby soon began to do the same. (that actually happens with real birds, its really wierd. One will start to preen and all the others will do the same thing.)Â A warm rain began to descend, giving everyone an nice shower. Tangerine suddenly felt a chill go down her spine, despite the warm weather. Something evil was coming to them. She didn't know if it was scraw or not, but she hoped not.
"Hey tangi," yelled pea "come here, I want to show you something". He saw tangerine come to him as a macaw gave him the "im going to get you" look. "Look," he said "when the rain hits the lake, the center of the lake makes a blue light. Thats because this lake is magic. This place is magic. I took you here so i could tell you my secret. Im not just a bird. Im a magic bird. That white bird you saw is my partner. We were sent to protect you. But i think i've fell in love. Please don't fly away and think Im the weirdest weirdo you know. Will you stay here... with me?".
Scraw stared at the little bird on the branch, and let off a stream of threatening colorful language, screeching here and there. As the seemingly unfazed bird sat there, Scraw decided he liked this bird. He stopped for breath then asked "What's your name, bird? I've decided I won't kill you if you keep the anoyance to a minimum. You can even be my partner in crime, someone small to fit into tight spaces would be useful." Scraw then snapped up a smaller bird, native to this area. They were all over, and this one was just flying away after hearing Scraw's questionable language and noticing Scraw's frightening stature.
Tangerine did not know what to say to this. She thought deeply and was about to answer when Birdy's loud eeping call filled the air. "Birdy whats the matter?" Tangerine asked. She didn't respond, just kept eeping louder and louder until Tangerine was sure her eardrums would burst. "Birdy! Stop it! You're annoying everyone out of their minds." Birdy was staring at something in distance and eeping at the same time. Finally Tangerine gave up and added her own sound to the mix, which was twice as loud as birdy's. Suddenly both of them stopped. Tangerine heard something in the distance. Could it be....It was a response from another Sun-conure. Tangerine became extremely excited and was about to fly off toward it when Pea stopped her. "What if it's a trap?" he said cautiously.
Kiwi jumped on top of Scraw's head again. "The name is Kiwi," He jumped back onto the branch where scraw was sitting. The branch shook and Scraw let the little bird go. Kiwi stared at Scraw. He jumped as he spoke "So, what we gonna do?" Scraw told Kiwi about Birdy. Kiwi didn't much like the idea of the fighting so he decided in his little mind to somehow break the fight. Kiwi all of a sudden jumped up and off the branch of the tree. He hopped onto the ground waddling to find a place to hide. Scraw looked confused.
Azull watched the colorful bird talk to tangerine. He was jealous. The orange bird was his. Not for anyone else. He mumbled to himself and decided he would met the bird who took his girl. Some way, he frightened a bird with his mumbling and flying. She made a lot of noise. She was kinda cute. He'd go to her later. But know, he was angry. He would not take no for answer. He managed a smile on his face. "Hola birdys," he said happiley "You guys are newbies right! Come over to my house so we can have dinner". Pea said that he and tagerine counldn't make it. Angry, he shoved pea and flew away.
Tangerine looked at the departing bird strangely and then laughed it off. "Someone's having a bad day I guess....." Then she flew toward a low hanging branch to perch and think for a bit. Unfortunetly, Tangerine bored of this after less than two mintues. She suddenly heard the sun-conure-like shrieking again. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to just respond....She thought quickly. Before anyone could stop her, she let out three ear-piercing shrieks that could be heard for quite some distance around. She stopped and waited for a response. An answering screech could be heard off to the west. It was very hard not to just take off without a second thought, but Tangerine knew better. "Pea, Birdy, do you think it would be safe to go....investigate....that sound?" She inquired.
"I took you guys here to be safe," said pea "leaving to go 'invertigate' is dangerous. Im suposed to protect you and keep you safe. Now can you stay here with me and swim? Im exausted.". Pea jumped into the water. He splashed around and made a fool of himself just to make tangerine laugh. She did laugh. She hopped in the water too and they both were messing around, laughing, and splashing water at each other. It was very fun. "Hey tangi," said pea " that shreik was just azull being angry because he can't get a pretty bird to hang around him. But i can!". He stopped splashing and quickly hugged her. Then he dovve in the water. He might not be able to fly, but he can swim! He popped out on the other side of the lake and said " come here, ill show you the secret entrace to my magical hide-out!".
Tangerine wasn't exactly interested in diving under water. Splashing around, yes, that was one of the funnest things she had ever done. But diving was beyond her. "No thanks Pea. I would rather not drown." She giggled and splashed Pea in the face. After a while Tangerine began to feel wet and cold, and decided to go dry off. As she sat on a branch preening, she thought she heard screeching again. Tangerine tried to shake the thought out of her head. "No. Pea says it's just Azull. I will not go over there." She told herself firmly. But another voice in her head kept telling her otherwise. "You know more. You know the difference between a sun-conure screech and a macaw scream, which sounded more like yelling...." The voice told her. Tangerine cast a sly glance at Pea, still involved with playing in the pretty lake. "I won't be gone long. He won't notice I'm even gone." Tangerine said to herelf. Wait, there was still Birdy to worry about. Strange, she wasn't anywhere in sight. Probably hiding. Tangerine flew off silently, hoping she wasn't doing something dumb.
Pea saw tangerine fly off. 'That bird will not listen' he thought. "Tangi," pea yelled "wait up, if your leaving, im coming". He flew then plopped right next to her and started walking. "I sence that you know what your doing," he said to her "you can tell its not azull. Sorry i didn't belive in you. My hearing is not that well. So tell me, what do you hear?". Pea looked interested in everything she was saying. For a guardian, he is really nice. He didn't miss a word of what she was saying. He might not have good hearing, but good enough to listen to her.
Tangerine noticed Pea trying to keep up with her. Oh well...there wasn't much he could do to stop her now…. She stopped suddenly and did a twisting spiral in the air, a difficult maneuver for most birds. She grinned as Pea just watched her, open-beaked. She did it again, only this time she disappeared out of sight into the thick trees ahead of them.
Tangerine flew along toward the screeching sound, daydreaming about what the other sun conure would be like. She hadn’t seen another one since her parents disappeared, and was very excited. She liked Pea and the other birds very much, but she despretly wanted to see another just like her.Â
Pea followed her. He did actually catch up to her. He had practiced. When he found her she was staring . "Hey! Watcha....." He stopped talking. They both stared at the most beatiful Red Sun Conure. The bird looked to be Tangerine's age. The bird looked surprized to see more birds. "Ummm," he said "My name is umm Klake. I live here.". He couldn't seem to take his eyes off of Tangerine. Pea wondered why all the birds like Tangerine. The bird countinued "Would you guys like to come over? You know, get to know each other." Pea looked at Tangerine and shruged.
Tangerine stared at the red sun conure in suprise. To her sensitive eyes, his unusual color was quite eyeblinding. "I.. I have to go now." She said without another word or an explanation, and then she flew off. This bird bothered her for some reason.. he just seemed.. untrustworthy.. She flew straight for a while, then went up above the treeline. The air was so clean and calm up here. She flew through a small, low-hanging cloud and felt it tickling her feathers. She did a loop and dove toward the ground, feeling her worries float away on the breeze.Â
