Tangerine hung from the branch for a moment, then fluttered off gracefully. "Sure! I'm a bit hungry anyway..." She looked around for a moment and saw Birdy glaring at her. Tangerine smiled and said "You may come with us Birdy!" and then she flew off, bright colors flashing in the sun. She flew slowly, enjoying the scenery around her. She remembered the stories her parents had told her when she was just a hatchling. Her mother told her of some of the good points of being a captive bird, her father told her scary tales of abusive owners. Tangerine wondered about this and almost crashed into a blue and white parakeet who was trying to sleep. Tangerine apoligized and then introduced herself and Pea, who was following her.
Amriath walked stiffly out on a branch near her hollow, carefully observing her surroundings. The air today was bright and clear, and she breathed it in gladly. Her wing was bothering her today, she stretched it to its full length before tucking it tightly against her body. It was unusual for Amriath to wander outside during the day, but she was hungry. Her crippled wing had prevented her from hunting the small rodents scurrying around for several days now. She was growing weak from lack of food. She took to the air and noisily glided the few feet to the ground, wind rattling through her maimed feathers. As she landed, she smelled the carcass of something recently killed. She stared at the monkey carcass.
no doubt killed by that young bird of prey Scraw
She thought to herself as she tore into the scraps of flesh. She could fight well enough to fend the large bird of prey off, despite her raggedness.
Scraw finished drinking, (Those frogs had finally shut up) and took off, flying back to finish his half finished carcass, he didn't know why monkey made him so thirsty.
 Perhaps it was salty.
When he flew back, he saw some puny owl trying to muscle in on his monkey!
Who did that owl think she was?
First of all, that was not her meat.
Seclnd of all, anything that could've killed that monkey which was at least twice her weight had to have weighed more than three times as much as her, and Scraw was, in fact, more than four times her weight.
The odds were eternaly in his favor.
He walked up to the owl, screeched in her face, and turned around to continue eating.
Amriath glared at the young bird of prey and smacked him square in the face with her sharp talon, leaving a nasty scratch. "Watch yourself Scraw. I'm not the only one tired of your antics." She hooted warningly. She couldnt let this rare chance at food get away, or she would starve. "And surely your huge bulk could stand to lose a little weight." She snapped, spreading her wings slightly, showing she would stand her ground. The pale scar on her wing and chest contrasted vividy against her dark feathers, and her oddly colored eyes were narrowed, fixed on Scraw.
Scraw rubbed his beak, and asked "What antics?" Scraw asked, glaring at the puny owl.
"Just be glad I'm more civilized than my relatives, most would have eaten you for that."
He hooked a talon through his monkey carcass, taking off.
Lucklily for Amriath, the monkey carcass was eaten enough that a peice was left behind, not coming up with the rest of the monkey.
Scraw flew to a tree, and dropped the monkey carcass over a branch.
He continued to eat, getting thirstier as he ate.
He flew away again, this time taking the monkey with, to get water.

Tangerine had been flying for about 10 minutes when she heard Scraw's loud screech echoing through the forest. She froze in fear and started plummeting toward the groundl. Fortunetly she saved herself just in time and fluttered back to where Pea was waiting. She fluffed her orange feathers and said "Well...that was certainly a close call!" Tangerine then saw a small colorful beetle crawling up the nearby branch. It was orange and black with creepy red eyes. She had never seen a bug like that before. It was fasinating. Tangering heard Pea sigh and then remembered what she was doing previously. She threw one last look at the bug and then flew off toward the fruit trees, which were much closer now.
Pea loves fruit, so when he saw the fruit tree he snached one of the orangey-red fruit with the tiny
delicious seeds. Its called a poma.....he forgot. But it was great. He also liked
the purple fruit, They all thing they're called grapes but nobody knew for sure. He loved all the fruits. But he love throwing the leftovers at holes it trees. That was fun. When he filled his belly up he sat at a little perch where he always sat when he was full. It was a perfectly made perch that was the most comfortable in the world. He always sat there. It was alway there, ever since he was a hatchling.
Tangerine found the fruits to be perfectly ripe. Not a bruise or bug spot on any of them! She bit into a pear, then left it hanging. She did that to many other fruits as well. Suddenly a huge screech erupted from the eastern side of the forest. Tangerine had no clue what it could be, other than Scraw. She saw Pea continueing to eat, despite the possible danger. "Perhaps we should go somewhere else..." She said worried. Tangerine flew off, but as she did, she glanced back at Pea. The sunlight was glinting off of his shiny, fruit-stained feathers, and the sight was blinding.Â
Scraw had finished the monkey, and was soaring around, doing nothing in particular, when he spotted a peacock, and some orange bird he didn't recognize. He flew over the tree they were in, went into a steep dive right into the tree, and pulled up at the last second. "Desert!" He said, maniacally. "I wonder, do the colors affect the taste, or does it, as the saying goes, taste just like chicken?" and cackled, soaring straight at them and licking his beak in a way that suggested he was going to find out whether it tasted just like chicken or not.
"Wait up!" yelled pea " you know i can not fly very well!". Pea flapped his wings. Faster and faster he flapped, until finnaly, he got his big tail feathery butt of the branch. He flew toward tangerine. Gasping, he finnaly got the hang of flying. "Tangerine," said pea "being around you is fun, and your helping me practice to fly, but you got to warn me when your going to fly. Can you agree on that?" He looked at her with big beautiful eyes. His eyes will convince anyone, And i mean anyone. "Oh," said pea in a gilty voice "Â I have a question. Do you like me?"
Tangerine was a bit frantic. She flew under a low bush and stayed there with Pea, shivering. "Do I like you..."She repeated. Tangerine smiled and said "As a freind, yes, very much. In other ways..." Tangerine looked away, a bit embarassed. She shook as she heard Scraw's grating voice coming nearer to their hiding place. Soon he was so close that she could smell his rancid breath......Tangerine scooted close to Pea for protection. Suddenly she heard a loud eeping sound. She peered out of the bush and saw Birdy fluttering around. She looked annoyed. Scraw had dissapeared, or so she hoped...
Suddenly, Scraw jumped at them from behind the bush, and grabbed Tangerine in a huge taloned claw! He cackled like a maniac, took off, and flew up, where he cackled again, and lobbed Tangerine at the ground, saying "Fly, little bird, fly!" And dove after Tangerine again. He flew after her, trying time and time again to catch her in his talons a second time, missing on purpose but coming close just to frighten her. Finally, her grabbed her, flew around a bit more, and landed on a tree, grinning, and then he asked her "I heard your name back there. Is it related in anyway to how you taste, or just the color?"
Tangerine had just about passed out. This was un-heard of behavior for any bird, no matter what species. She felt sharp stabs of pain and was sure that the end was coming....As Tangerine's vision went blurry, she thought she heard...music? a quiet chanting song and a bright blue light were coming from somewhere in the distance. Suddenly she heard Scraw scream and drop her from the branch. Tangerine tried despretely to fly but her wings seemed locked. She was going yeep! one of the most terrifying things that could happen to a bird. It seemed a very long way to the ground. As she fell she heard her friends screaming and wailing. She also heard a deep, angry voice and saw a huge white dove hovering above Scraw. It was holding a large, shiny sword, pointed at scraw. It seemed familar for some reason...Tangerine screeched in suprise. It was the bird from her dream!
Birdy flew out of nowhere and attacked Scraw. She landed so hard on his head that he fell off the perch. Birdy violently shook her head. "What happened?" She asked confused. Everyone was staring at her. She ran away confused, and was followed by Tangerine. When they got to Birdy's perch, She asked Tangerine,"what happened? i woke up, and everyone was staring at me, and Scraw was on the ground." Scraw was of corse not dead, just had a small scratch on his head wich was painful and caused him to pass out. Tangerine looked at Birdy, for she didn't know what was going on.
Scraw woke up, his vision blury, and what he saw from his blury vision did not please him. He picked himself up, still seeing doubles, and asked in a quiet voice, seething with rage "Who knocked me out?" Then, looking at every bird in sight, Scraw repeated in the same voice "You." Pointing at Birdy (Don't ask me how an eagle points) "Yes you. Right next to the bird I was teasing. Fly now, or you won't live to regret it." and he took off fast as lightning, flying straight at Birdy, now ignoring the bird with the sword. (He has temper problems, doesn't he?)  Â
