Glacia slid down the icy slope with her two little brothers, Snow and Icicle, giggling behind her. Ever since father had died, mother had not been the same. When she used to be strong a confident, her will became weak and she rarely ever ate. Most of the time, Uncle Tundra looked after her and tried to nurse her health into something stable in the cave while Glacia was left to entertain two extremely exicetable young serpents.Â
"Glacia onee-chan, can we go to the glacier???" Glacia scowled. Mother's last words before she had fallen ill was exactly not to bring Snow and Icicle to the glacier. Since then, it had been all that they had wanted to do. It took all of her effort just to keep them away from it.
"For the last time, Snow, we can't. Mama forbid it because it's dangerous!"
"Why?" said Icicle. It seemed to be the only thing he said.
"Because..." Glacia thought about it for a second. Probably because they would slide down an ice crevasse, thinking it was a snow hill. Not that telling them that would stop them. The young snow serpent had only been there once or twice, and that was only because food was running low. She still had nightmares of the place; eerie silcence and reflective ice that made it look like an army of serpents was around you. And if you weren't careful where you slithered, then you could easily slip down into one of the many hidden cracks all around. That had been the way her father had died. "Because papa died there. And because there are yetiis" She said as an after thought, hoping to intimidate the two eager young snakes.
If anything, they seemed more excited. "Can we go see where papa died, then?" Glacia almost gasped. The little fools!
"Of course not, it's dangerous, you stupid little bakas! How else could papa die?!" She scowled down at them. Although she would never admit out loud, Glacia was rather fond of the little buggers. And if anything ever tried to harm them, she would tear them limb from limb.
All of a sudden, Glacia heard a loud noise from somewhere nearbye. STOMP, CRUNCH, STOMP CRUNCH! She looked around in alarm and whispered, "get down!" from the desperation in her voice, her brothers obeyed immediatly, shoving their snouts in the snow and instantly camelflouging with the snow texture. Glacia did the same.
Then, a large dark shadow loomed from behind a tree. Glacia's eyes widened in alarm. What is that?!, She thought in alarm.
