Sally crouched in the bushes and watched the dragon and the nine-tailed fox. Such beautiful creatures... she thought. She had a notebook in her lap, she busily sketched a picture of the mythical beasts and wrote down quick notes about their behaviour. They appeared to be conversing, to her it sounded like mere animal growls and rumbles, and most people thought that was all it was. But she knew for fact that the mythical beasts had a language of their own. She had spent years watching them, sketching them and taking notes on their behaviour, so she was positive. Just think of the terrible things people do to these magnificent animals, she thought angrily. I think I'll sneak closer for a better look, but not too close, of course, they hate humans...
So she crept closer...
...And accidently stepped on a twig.
It was just a tiny snapping sound, but the dragon and fox's hearing was very sharp. They both whirled to face her. As soon as they saw her, they bared their teeth in vicous snarls, and charged at her. There was no escape, even if Sally tried to run, they'd easily catch her. Okay... I'm doomed... "Don't hurt me, I'm a friend,"she whimpered, but she knew it was hopeless. She squeezed her eyes shut and waited for the end...
Sally huddled in the back of the cave, still trembling. Some of the mythical beasts could talk? Was it just this dragon, nine-taled fox and sabertoothed tiger? Or could all of them talk? The dragon was a prince? And he was from a land where humans and mythical beasts lived together in peace and harmony? Who was Miya? Someone who was going to eat her? Oh well, at least I have a great opportunity to sketch and take notes, Sally thought. I might as well enjoy myself before I get devoured... Maybe, if they let me live, I could try to help them somehow... IF they let me live...Â
She was alone now. The sabertoothed tiger had disapeared around the corner, and she could see the dragon flying off with the fox riding on his back.
Then she saw another dragon. It was in the shadows, and hard to see, but it was there, a bigger dragon, an uglier dragon, a dragon as dark as dark could be. It let out a terrible roar, and the ground shook. Black flames blasted out of its gaping maw. Oh my god... thought Sally. She was terrified for the dragon and fox flying toward it, but there was nothing she could do...
Starhorn was alone again, brooding as he did his rounds around the forest, purifying all the water, when suddenly he heard a dragon roar. But not a normal one, this was the creepiest dragon roar he had ever heard. He looked up and saw thousands of small animals running away. Then he saw why they were running: a massive black dragon charging through the shadows straight toward him. Not all of the animals managed to escape, though, the ones that the skeleton dragon touched all died. All the plants and trees the monster touched died too. I can't let him do this, thought Starhorn.
"Go away, you monster, or I'll kill you!" he shouted.
"Ha ha ha, you think you can kill death?" the skeleton dragon laughed.
While the dragon was busy laughing, Starhorn threw himself at the dragon and stabbed him in the chest. The dragon screamed with pain, for Starhorn's power was light, and the dragon was darkness. The dragon melted into the shadows and vanished. Starhorn doubted that the monster was dead, he was probably just gone for now. But the alicorn had touched the dragon, so now he was dying. He collapsed, and started fading.
He was almost gone, when he saw another Alicorn fly down and touch him. He heard a familiar voice saying his name... "Dary?" he said faintly. He felt her horn touch him, and felt himself coming back to life. Before he could thank her, she was gone...
