Hi! XD

Carmen's paws dangled out of her cage, as her legs were too long to fit under her without discomfort. In fact, her face was practically up against the bars.

her eyes darted across the kennels, seeing unlocked cages where she saw dogs escaping a minute or two ago. She let out a slight dog-sigh. There are....a few reasons she won't be running off anytime soon.

1) her lock was higher up than some others, hers was apart of the bars and she would have to squeaze her face through the bars and cran her neck to get to it.

2) not only that, but jumping out of the cage would cause some leg pain, being up off the ground and jumping from that isn't the best thing for dogs.

3) She didn't feel the motivation to escape.

Carmen grunted, shifting her tail to her left side, she was busy being lost in her thought to run. She was confused. Scared, afraid, and confused.

'I swear i only got here a minute ago....but i was here yesterday...?'

'Mom said to not rebel against humans. humans are bad. cold hearted, and scary. stay away.'

'my cage is too far up, don't jump...'

'i wish i could reach my lock, it's too far up and so is my cage. I'm afraid of heights.'

'how'd i get here? I only remember the confusion and pain....'

'If i run off, they'll find me, a-and they'll shoot these dart thingies in my neck. they take away my memories and replace them with pain. I'm not going to run'

Carmen blinked, thinking hurts. but then again, she couldn't complain. she was alive, right? but then a loud series of barking interupted her thoughts, and her eyes drifted to a dog, and her eyes strained to read the name on the cage...

"o...oplen." is that what it read? she couldn't read well. all she knew right now was that the dog was loud.

her eyes once again drifted, but to her food slot, only a few bits of food. she'd save them for when she really needed it..

Maybe Carmen could get used to it.

My eyes finaly open and all i remeber is that figure. I looked up lines of cages and dog with in them. I was in a pound. I Have to go back. I have to get out. I thoght i stood up still week from that dart. I feel to the cold ground and let out a YELP! Bloo fell from my side. I knew I was hurt but I didn't care. I stood back up, a little wobaly but i soon had my balence. Now how do i get out? I paced back and forth. I scatched at the floor, concreate. the chiken wire cage was week and so was i couldn't breack threw. Not with out my strenth. I had to wait, wait for my strenth to return.

I paused as I felt eyes on my back and I turned around wit a start, growling, and expecting another human to be standing there Instead, my eyes caught on two large black-brown paws dangling out from behind metal bars. For some reason, I felt a kind of nostalgia looking at the caged dog. Then I realized who it reminded me of; myself. Even as a puppy, I had been a rather lage dog, with stick-long legs and elastic-cord muscles, always bound behind those iron bars. Like a caged bird, I had never been free to fly, yet somehow I had still kept up hope. And now, finally, all my efforts had paid off. This dog could have the same terrible life as me if I left her here; she was a large dog, and the humans that took us away from here only came twice a month. I took a deep breath and skittered over to her cage, my leg muscles tired from pent-up energy and ready to run for miles. I put my paws up to the second level, which her cage was one. "Carmen" I read breathlessly. The beatiful dog inside was a stunning female, and suddenly a strange, warm emotion blossomed in my heart. "I'm going to get you out of here," I whispered. Then I ran as fast as I could to the exit, grabbed the keys, and ran back. I could hear loud huffing noises as the humans started to get up, and check to see if I was still around. Speedily, I grabbed the key that looked like it would fit the lock best, and hooked it between my fangs. I set to work on the lock, and by the time the cage door was open, I could hear human voices shouting, almost around the corner. I looked up into her stunning golden eyes, which had only been dulled slightly by the cruelty of the kennels. I watched as they brightened a little, color flowing into them like warm honey into tea.

"Please, come with me," I said.

Carmen had been sitting there, looking down bleakly at her paws, dangling from her larger, steel cage.  she felt her thoughts racing throughout her body, yes, some were looking to the bright side of things...'I can get out. and i will, just when i..or someone..can reach the lock!' and others were, well, blatant, 'It's no use, stay put here.' unfortunately, she felt a bit on the negative side today. Carmen well understood her thoughts.

Just as carmen was about to drift into 'wonderful' thought, her eyes, once again, focused on the dog. 'Oplen..right?' her thoughts were cconfirmed as her eyes darted to the cage below her, the dog inside, now out. standing in front of her. Carmen wanted to jump backwards as he spoke her name, but she could only curl up into a semi-ball.

what was even more surprising, is that he said he would get her out. and what do you know? he did. This dog...that she doesn't even know...saved...her?! and now, he was encouraging Carmen to jump...

oh how she wanted to. to break free. but fear loomed..

'mother said to never trust strangers. he could hurt me..right? but..he helped, he freed me.'

'...is the outside of here scary? scarier than inside a cage like this?'

'If i befriend this dog, will he just turn that trust..into dust? I've never...never had a friend before.'

Only one way to find out, slowly, she used her hind paws to slide out of the cage, her paws seemed like they were spasming, trying to get a grip on the cage's bars below her, and sometimes trying to brace themselves to hit the floor. as soon as her back legs came out of the cage(her body tagging along with her) her front and back paws slid over the cage beneath her, and she felt her body fall onto something...cold? The kennel floors! she was almost free! but her head turned to see the humans coming after her, and carmen's fear got the best of well..her. rather cowardly, she hid behind oplen, feeling rather embarrassed and frightened at the same time. Carmen was sure she'd feel even more bashful AFTER they got free...if they did.

looking out I could see 2 dogs wandering around. I wondered if they could help me. I tryed to speak. "Help" was all i could muder I wondered if they could hear me. I stood up. "help" I said again Still I don't think they heard me. It had been only five days but it felt like forever. I saw them more closely. I reconized them. I thought long and hard. YES I do knoe the one on the left. Her name didn't come to me it had been forever since I saw her. "Help, I need to get out!" I yelled. They just stared at me like I was crazy. "I need to get out, they need me." I said and the pair said nothing.
I glanced behind me. First, I saw the humans. Then I heard a pleading cry, louder than the other barks echoing around us. There was no harm in letting free another dog, but if we didn't escape now, I doubted we ever could again. But maybe I could hold the humans off just long enough for the other dog to escape. I came up with a plan. I tossed the keys to Carmen and barked, "Try to free that dog!" Then I raced up to the approaching noise. I saw two dart guns pointed towards my snout. I leaped up just in time, kicking off of the human's face, making sure my claws scratched across his nose, and leaping towards the other one's arm and I latched my teeth onto its arm. The human cried out and let go of the gun, but for good measure, I grabbed its pant legs and yanked them out from underneath it. The human screamed as its head hit the floor with a sickening crack! I growled in satisfaction and turned towards Carmen to see if she had made any progress on the cage. It was then I heard the sounds of many human voices in the near distance. "We have to leave now!!!" I yelled.

Carmen took the keys in her mouth and ran to the dog's cage, without thinking, she tried to pick out the right key to unlock this dog's door, so to try and keep that dog calm, she decided to speak to it, even if she was shaking with fear, herself.

"uh...star, stay clam, okay? I'm going to get you free!" she jammedone key into the keyhole and twisted it around..nothing!

drat! we're all going to get caught if i can't find the right key...!

It seemed like hours to take the right key, and each wrong key only increased her fear,

"stay calm...stay calm!" she spoke mostly to comfort herself, but hopefully this dog wasn't as nervous as her?

right after she said that, the door squeaked open and stopped at a loud halt, and carmen stepped back to breathe and urge the other dog out, "come on, now. now you're free. stick with us, please" Carmen's voice shook as she tried to sound brave and reassuring, she couldn't be more afraid in her life..

"guys this way. I know a way out." I said leading them. "And thanks for saveing me you have no idea I will tell you when we get far away. Let's Go!" Running I see behind me that there are 3 guys chaseing after us. We Took a hard right turn confuzing the 3 men and loseing them. There was a wall with an open window. "We have to jump. Or We wont escape." I told them. They stayed close behind me. "Ready, come on you two we can do this, 1, 2, 3!" We jumped. we were free. Free at last.
The warm sun touched my back it felt good to be free. The two other dogs right behind me. One was male and one was female. He looked like my mate, sorin, grey and skinny but his paw was strange. Sorin wasn't the most responseablein the world. He said he would leave me after the pups were old enough to leave. The pups, two of them just small little ones. I hoped they arn't sick, injured or ... I just hoped for them. The female I knew here but her name finaly came to me...Carmen. She had grown up by me but we were seperated when me and my mother left that shed. She was very little I helped take care of her. I wouldn't be suprised if she didn't remeber me but that was alright. I turned "Alright now I want to know the ones who saved not only my life but others." I said to the two tagging behind me. I listened intently to their stories as they told them.

Kennels of horror
Setting

Kennels:

Billions of rock hard cages with cold metal bars in front. Each cage is locked with a key. There is one slot where a bowl of gross food is shoved in twice a day. Not every dog is fed, because there are so many, so the cages are quite small. Most of the dogs are sold, and more are captured each month.

Woods:

The woods are eucalyptus trees just outside the Kennels. Here, most of the dogs are captured by food-baiting traps. This is Austrilia. There are walabies and lizards, and some gophers, it is a tough life, so some try to get food from the nearest human settlement, but are captured instead.

Plains:

Most dogs don't like the heated open, but some dogs, such as hyenas live out here. If you are captured here, you are shoved in grimy metal cage in the back of a truck with a tranquilizer. It is also a very good spot to run away, because everything is clear, then there is cover with an oasis in the uppers.

Uppers:

Just an add-on to the Woods, but much lusher and higher, so it is very hard to get to because there is no water on the long journey there. only a couple hardy hyenas and stray dogs roam this spoiled place. The large oasis in the middle of this forest attracts a lot of animals, for example the fruit bat, yet prey is cautious, so it can be hard to catch.

Settlements:

From roadsides to Sydney, this is where almost all dog, fox and hyena civilization is. Fortunenately, the Kennels are quite far away from all human settlements, so only every once in a while is a huge shipment of canines taken from Sydney to fill up the Kennels. If you are captured in a settlement, you are rather bated by a garbage can trap, or ambussed and roughly shoved into a cage of your own kind by camlflouged humans with a tranquilizer sticking out of your neck.

Plot

You are a wild dog, you have just been taken into a horrible kennel, where you try to escape. Once all characters escape or not- let's just see where it goes. It is an adventure of chaos, freindship, horror, sacrifice and bravery. Well, good luck!

History

The history will go along with the story, but recently there has been a drought, so you might try to reach the Uppers.

Rules

No cussing or controling other peoples characters. Remember, you might be captured more than once, no abuse either. And this is not Africa, no monkeys or anything ridicoulously stupid it is Austrilia. But you can use substitudes for curses such as "Koala poop" or something like that. Also, nothing too inapropriate or disgusting, but mild romance can be involved, and your character may have offspring, but just don't get too into the details... Your character age will be put in dog years, so 1 is from puppy to very young. 2 is ready to breed, but still quite young. 3 is young, but with more experience and knowledge. 4 is still young, but more fully grown with knowledge, experience, and power to be a leader. 5 is an elder.

You are also allowed to create a small pack, but make sure every character agrees if you wish to be leader. Also, your name can't be something like "Poopy" or anything close to that, but it can be something like "Heartfire" or even "Poppy wing"

And the most important rule: Have fun!!!
