"Agreed," he whispered as quietly as he could so only Alex could hear him. Kadvar stayed as still as possible hoping not to make any noise. They had ran what felt like such a long distance. It was odd this girl managed to end up close to them, at least that's if it was by chance. There was always the possibly that this girl had been following them or that she had teamed up with other tributes.
He started looking around while trying to move as little as possible. Maybe there were others but they were hiding or hunting the girl. It was best they stay alert, "Maybe she was following us?"
"I doubt it" Alex said as he pushed a branch away from his face. "She wouldn't be out in the open like that if she was." Alex slowly moved out of the bush, but kept low to the ground. He did not want to be anywhere near any one else other than Kadvar. It was possable she wasn't alone or that she was a very powerful gifted.
"I think we should get out of this area. We will find somewhere else to camp out." He said. They needed to find a hiding place for the night quickly. Expically since the careers will be hunting everyone down tonight, if not sooner.
Kadvar crawled out of the bush, eying the girl carefully. She hadn't noticed them yet so she didn't seem to be a gifted that had heightened senses. Maybe she was a decoy to draw others into the open and she had allies lying in wait. Or maybe she was hunting for other tributes. Whatever her reason for being out in the open, it couldn't be good. They only had their two throwing knives and his finicky fire gift to defend themselves.
"Yes. We better find somewhere soon." Before people like the girl hunted them down. Or the teleporter. He really hoped to not see her again. He began moving in a direction where they wouldn't cross paths with the girl. Hopefully shelter would be in this direction. If not they were going to have a long sleepless night of praying they wouldn't be found.
Alex moved as quickly as he could without making too much noise. Now that they had seen another person, Alex was even more nervous about meeting another person. He felt it was best to lay low and collect food for a while and let everyone kill each other off. Then the remaining people would be tired, hungry and injured.
Alex paused at the edge of the trees. Ahead of them was a small patch of open land. The grass was very tall, but not enough to hide a person who was standing up. It was not a very safe place hiding wise.
"Great, if we plan on crawling the rest of the games," he whispered in case anyone else was close enough to hear him talk. It was best to avoid areas with dense underbrush or vegetation. If his ability activated in such tall grass they could be running awhile from a grassland fire. Did they really want to head back into the forest though and risk being seen by other tributes?
Kadvar started really thinking about this situation. Any decision here could mean the difference between life or death. "The careers would be checking the forests for tributes first, right? They wouldn't think anyone would hide in an open field, they wouldn't bother to check the fields because it would be stupid to hide in the open." So technically as long as they lied low enough they could hide in plain sight. Maybe not for long but for the first night it might work. They weren't sure how far they were from a proper shelter.
"Hopefully we can find a better hiding place soon." The grass was better than simply hiding on the forest floor, but the game makers must have ensured there were some better hiding places. There was always the chance there weren't any, though that would make for a short game and surely the game makers didn't want that.
They wasted enough time thinking of the grassland, every minute was precious in these games. In the daylight it would be too risky to move through the grass. It was better they move around the small patch of open land. "We better start moving." He didn't wait long for a reply and started to make his way around the patch of land, stopping every once in a while to lay low and check for others. The most movement he  ever saw was from the birds.
Kadvar noticed how exposed they were. It wouldn't be hard for a tribute to see them. They were probably far enough from the other tribute by now. "Right," was all he dared to say. He didn't want to talk too much as the other tribute was still out there somewhere.
He moved back towards the forest, ensuring he stayed in areas where the trees were dense. There was what looked to be a deer's path. It was best to avoid it when possible, deer could be dangerous and all they had to defend themselves were knives. He crossed the the path and kept moving until he came to a certain tree.
It had a den dug out from underneath some of it's roots. It could be a useful shelter, as long as whatever animal that made it wasn't still using it. "It doesn't seem like it's being used," it didn't smell like animal. But that didn't mean some dangerous insect or reptiles didn't take it over.
Kadvar was poking the hole with a stick just in case something was hiding or camaflouged. It was small enough that if any careers found it while they were away, they wouldn't bother stealing it. It seemed camaflouged well enough , though maybe they should find a rock or some sticks to hide it when they weren't here. "We could probably just hide it with some sticks."
Nothing was in there so he stood up and tossed the stick aside. Hopefully whatever had used it wouldn't come back. After looking at the tree itself he noticed damaged bark, and what could only be, "There's porcupine quills." The den didn't have any, but the tree had a few embedded in it's bark. "Maybe it'll keep others away."
Alex pulled one of the quills out of the bark and examined it. He had never seen a porcupine before other then in pictures. They did pose a threat if they scared it, Alex did not want one of these things inbedded in his flesh.
"Do you think we could make a weapon out of these?" He asked. They only had knifes, and those were close range unless they threw them. Then if they missed they would be unarmed. The only way they could get more weapons was to get them off deseased tributes. Making them seemed like a much easier way.
"They wouldn't work too well as weapons," the quills didn't look all that harmful and didn't seem useful unless more than one were used at once. "Maybe if you stuck a group of them on a stick they'd work but even then the knives would be more effective. They'd probably work better in traps." They could stick them in the ground and cover them with leaves. If just one of the quills embedded themselves into a tributes leg it would slow them down. Being slowed down could give themselves the chance to get away easier, or it could make it easier for other tributes to kill whoever had been injured by their trap.
If they needed a better weapon they could always sharpen the ends of sticks with their knives.

Characters are going to die, please be aware your character can be killed in this.
Don't powerplay, don't be killing a character without giving them a chance.
You can team up with others, but don't go and kill them in their sleep or something.
Don't make any deaths too detailed.
If your character dies, you may join again with a new character from a different district if it isn't taken.
You may have a maximum of two characters alive at one time.
You may kill off characters that no one is playing.
Do not use a character from the book.  Also do not have your character speak about characters from the book.  Act like they never existed.
You can have characters who are gifted.  They must have only one abilty and must have weaknesses.  You can have a character with no gift, but they are at a hige disadvantage.
