Mystique's eyes glanced around as she stood in the shadows. She changed into the form of her human disguise. Fairly tall with blonde wavy hair complete with a front fringe. Her full pink lips parted as she stepped out onto the busy streets, blending in as she held a few full shopping bags. She looked around her surroundings once more before heading in one direction, constantly listening out for talk on any more Mutants. She, along with a few other Mutants determined to stay alive, were making a plan to address the humans. She sighed slightly. Mystique didn't have mind reading powers like Charles, but she could blend it. And was very skilled at doing so. She had grown up as Raven, without anyone. Except when she was roughly 10 years old. She met Charles Xavier. Now she had left him after going with Magneto. And even now he ceased to exist. Even if he did, Mystique didn't know the first place to find him. Instead, she was set in accomplishing her goal.
Kin was out hunting with the bow and arrow, She was stalking a rabbit like a fox. Her hunting buddy a handsome man named Max drew his bow and Kin made him lower his bow stalking close enough to garuntee her shot and she took it. The rabbit didn't even scream. "Dang how do you get that close?" "Natural talent." She picked up her rabbit and added it to their shared catch. The local lettuce farm had a rabbit problem and was paying them to thin the population out. Kin actually worked at the vet's office but it was her day off. So since it was private property she could hunt all she liked.
Mai was birthing a foal with her apprentice vet. "Ok momma push... Ricky you got the owner calmed down?" "Yeah." "This baby is comming out soon." The next contraction and the foal slid out and hit the straw with a mix between a splat and a thump. The mare took over and the foal was up in an hour. "Now leave Star and the foal alone to bond for a while once she delivers that placenta." There was a splash and Mai said "Clean that up and leave them alone for a while." "Thanks Mai." Old man Smith was sitting there watching and he said "That woman was worring for nothing. You saw it and so did I." "I know but it made her feel better to have me and Ricky around..."
Mystique had been given information on another Mutant not too far from the city. She glanced around before changing into a middle aged man. Dark hair, however the beginning of a reseeding hairline was seen. He was wearing a rather formal suit. Mystique glanced around for a car, after pick pocketing some keys from a man she had bumped into. She clicked the unlock button, turning to the double beep of a car. She smiled as she walked towards it, climbing inside. She put the key in the ignition and turned, glad the car started. She pulled out onto the road, driving away from the city, changing back to her human form. Mystique pursed her full lips as she glanced around the road, looking for the vets she was supposed to go to.
Kin and Max finished hunting rabbits with their new record for most catches in one day twelve. The farmer paid them for their services and then the pair were left with twelve dead rabbits... "Think that's enough fur for a new pair of moccacins?" "Kin don't you have enough of those? "I was going to sell them." "What if I want a pair?" "What size are your feet?" "Elevens and wide." "I'll get to work then." "I don't want a pair, I was making a point." Kin tilted her head and said "So you don't want them?" "I want a share of the meat." "Deal." Kin went home and skinned the rabbits, then she took the furs to get them tanned. After that she cleaned and de boned the rabbits before sending six rabbits worth of meat to her friend and making a big pot of stew with the rest. Mai came home and said "You went hunting?" "The lettuce farmer had a rabbit problem. You know that man is all organic with those things so these things haven't been eating pesticides. You know I don't waste food." "Or fur. Who gets the shoes?" "Whoever commisions me to make them." "I want them." "Ok then sis."
Upon arrival, Mystique glanced at the file she had been given, remembering the woman's face. She was only two years older than herself. Mystique climbed out of the car, walking towards the building. It seemed as though people were inside, so she decided it was best to try and talk to the woman in private. She knew Charles had made the mistake of announcing Hanks mutation in front of a human. Mystique headed up to the door, walking inside. She glanced around as she looked for someone who looked remotely like the woman in her file. "Hello? Is anyone here?" Mystique called, before deciding to snoop around to see if she could find anything useful. She looked through magazines on a table then through leaflets on a small stand. She hummed slightly, walking towards the desk.
Kin heard something downstairs. She'd been napping on the couch in fox form. The sisters lived above the clinic. Mai said "You heard something? I'll go check." Mai went downstairs but Kin changed back grabbing their gun just in case. They saw this person flipping through the leaflets. Mai said "Unless it's an emergency the clinic is closed." Mai waited for the person to respond. Kin however sniffed and said "She's a mutant like me." Kin's senses were just as sharp in both forms. "Hi what do you need?" Kin was being friendly and Mai was being cautious, "We don't want any trouble, do you need a place to stay or something? We will put you to work though."
Mystique glanced to them, they both looked so similar. She looked from one to the other, not knowing which was a mutant until she said. She relaxed lightly, changing into her natural blue form. "I'm not here about the clinic." She told them, her yellow eyes still watching them. "I've not come here to cause trouble. Everything will go fine as long as you cooperate." Mystique told then. "I'm looking for Kin Miyamoto." She told them. "I'm Mystique, and I'm looking for mutants to show the humans we are not a threat to them. Safety in numbers also." Mystique told them, looking to the woman she figured was Kin. "We will be very greatful if you join us. And if you know any other mutants, then they could be of great help too." She told them.
Kin and her sister looked at each other and Mai said "This town is full of mutants but I doubt you'll find anyone willing to help you out. I know I'm staying put. I have a job, and my sister goes where I go. I can't up and leave the practice this town depends on me and Kin." Kin said "We can get you into a mutant town meeting to plead your case though. It's the day after tomorrow. The humans think we're in a club and that's fine by us." Mai said "This month's meeting is being held here actually..." "So just hang out for a while and the others will come to you. In general various shapeshifters, we figure it's the most common and one of the oldest mutations. There's one guy who's purple though. The humans think he's just tattooed and got elf ears and got his tongue forked. He clips his claws..."
Mystique watched them both, narrowing her piercing yellow eyes when she declined her offer. "Here, you may live in peace. But what if one person expresses their hatred for mutants? Then what if someone else agrees?" She asked. "It's the domino theory. Once one speaks out, they all do. One by one." Mystique told them. "I know that all too well." She added. She didn't want to leave, the talk could possibly earn her more followers. Give her a bigger chance of more supporters. "I came to you because you are seen as valuable. I know of your ability. I just hope the next time I see you, you won't be a fox-skinned shawl over someone's shoulders." Mystique told Kin. "Thank you, for your time." She said before walking out. She would possibly come back the next day for the talk. Until then, she would possibly sleep in the car.
Kin and her sister looked at each other "Should we warn her about Mrs. Smith?" "Yeah it might be a good idea." Kin went after Mistque and said "You might want to watch out for Mrs. Smith next door she does hate mutants... Doesn't know about me. We have a guest room. So it would be rude for us to not extend the offer. We have rabbit stew." Kin was just making an offer not that the stranger would take her up on it. "Plenty of humans around here are actually Mutant rights activists... Mrs. Smith her husband was killed by a mutant about two years ago... So she's bitter there..."
Mai left out some dinner for the newcomer just in case and packed up the rest of the left overs. Her staff would finish with the company refridgerator and raid hers. The stew would be gone tomorrow. Mai wished her sister wouldn't invite people to stay at their house just because they didn't have a place to stay. But Kin had been kicked out of the house by their parents when they found out about her being a mutant. Old man Smith had found her and brought Mai into his home too until Kin went to the Xavier institute. Their parents had ditched both of them. So Mai knew where Kin got it from. Old man Smith or Gramps had always been kind to them, like Mr. Xavier had been as Kin had called him. They'd seen the best and the worst regarding the treatment of mutants. Kin was plucking up the courage to tell Max she was a mutant, she'd gone over it with Mai first...
Arran woke up with a gasp from his nightmare. It was the same one he usualy had. His wife had been killed several years before by a mutant, and almost every night, he relived what happend that day..how he was the target but she was killed instead when she got in the way. He slowly got out of bed with a sigh and looked around his apartment before getting up
After he took a shower and ate breakfast, he stepped outside and went to get his car. He checked to make sure he had the gun he always kept in the car just in case he needed it and started it up.
Mystique turned to face Kin, watching her carefully. She changed into her human disguise. She knew there were people after her. "Fine." She nodded. "That would be nice, thank you." She took a polite approach, smiling softly. Mystique nodded softly, listening to her as she talked. "Hm, I guess I'll have to keep an eye on her." She said, giving a slight smile. Mystique glanced around. "That stew is starting to sound quite nice." She began. "Can I have some?" She asked, tilting her head. She turned slightly, seeing a familiar face she darted inside.
Logan, or commonly known as Wolverine, was walking around the town, looking for Mystique. He, Charles and Magneto made a habit of calling her Raven. He grumbled lowly to himself as he glanced around, unable to see the woman he was after. He huffed slightly, seeing a woman in front of an animal clinic, he decided to talk to her. "Uh, hi. I'm looking for a woman. She's about.. This big, blue eyes, blonde hair. Or, she's blue with red hair and yellow eyes." Logan spoke about both of Mystiques most common form. His voice was quite low as he spoke to the woman.
