Iason was leaning against an alley wall, his arms crossed to his chest. Lil sat next to him, panting heavily. She laid down after a while and laid her head on her paws. Iason was waiting. He was due to hunt. He had his eyes set on a specific target, whom was roaming about Carnon City. He would have to adventure if he wanted to find him.

This man was a thief, and had a rather nice bounty over his head for stealing a diamond from a local jewelry store. Iason suspected that he would be trying to hide, or maybe trying to disguise himself.

Iason knew he could find him if he tried hard enough.

Gunther was forced to go to Carnon City. Grendile nagged him ruthlessly to at least do one hunt on his own, and so, here he was. Carnon City. The capitol. Flying cars soared over head. A luxury for the wealthy, they said. Citizens felt safe these days, since the crime rates were dropping more and more each day, with the sweepers patrolling the streets and eliminating the criminals.

Grendile was at his side, preoccupied with searching for their target.

Gunther was glaring at the pavement at his feet. He didn't want to be here. He wanted to be at home, safely tucked inside. Maybe drinking a beer and watching a bit of television. Hunting was too stressful, too time consuming.

Lothar didn't live anywhere. He constantly traveled, following his job. Here he had stopped being a nomad for now. He could find a target here, get some money, then buy some food. Or maybe even a cheap apartment so he could rest a few days- but that would be a luxury to him.

So, he stuck with trying to get a target. Any target. So he could grab some needed supplies for when he would go out again. Perhaps he could grab a bit of information, so that he would be prepared for the harsh geography past Carnon City.

Why? Why of all the people in the world, was he stuck with Gunther? A lazy drunken slob who had manadged to get himself in so much debt, he had to rely on a shark-loan? He had done so much to help Gunther, he had spent so much time trying to help him. At the very least, he could listen every once in a while. These thoughts ran through his head as he searched for their criminal.

By some miracle, he had convinced him to go sweeping. He had done a bit of research before going after the criminal naturally. He knew the criminal they were after was somewhere around this area, probably disguised, or hiding among the crowd. He payed close attention to those in crowds. It was the easiest place for criminals to hide, among so many others. Finding a criminal in a crowd was not unlike trying to find a needle in a haystack. It took skill and experience. After a few minutes, he had spotted their criminal. He tried not to stare, so the criminal didnt recognize he saw him. He turned to Gunther, "I found our criminal," he looked in the direction of their criminal.

Piper walked lazily down the unfamiliar streets of Carnon City. She had only been to this huge city once before with her father before he died. She had also heard many things about this place; the buildings, the people, the food, the sweeping opportunities...

She was running low on money so she decided to see if there were any easy criminals out for the taking. She spotted a wanted poster with a man's face on it. The man was wanted for a decent amount of money, so she decided to check it out.

After walking around for what felt like hours (which in reality, was only about twenty-five minutes) she had finally found somebody hiding in a nearby alleyway that looked like the man she was looking for. But, she was stopped in her tracks when she saw somebody nearby. "Are they sweepers too? They better not be!" She muttered to herself. She narrowed her eyes and murmured a simple spell under her breath. Suddenly, a rope sprang up out of the ground and wrapped itself around the criminal's foot.

Gunther groaned. Now it was time to work. Grendile would probably tutor him through the killing- or disabling- whichever his ghost mentor would chose to bring onto the criminal. He took a stance and placed a hand on his gun's holster. He sighed and wiped his face with his sleeve. "Lead the way," he said to Grendile. He was prepared to push through a crowd if he had to. And then afterwords insult Grendile for babying him like this.

Iason was about to pounce on the criminal, but then someone shouted. Then a rope curled itself around the man's leg. Iason hissed a warning, "Back off! I saw him first!" Lil pricked her ears and shot up, barking madly at this intrusion to her dozing off. Iason pulled out his gun in a haste and shot the criminal's back. The man grunted and collapsed to the ground.

Lothar made his way around the city, and found something of interest. A poster. A curled up paper with an illustration of a reptilian humanoid. He tore it from the post and studied it a bit. A nice bounty, too. He stuffed it in his pocket and began his search.

Nekasni took a long drink of the bitter, scalding coffee.  Ah, coffee.  She had tried various other kinds of substance abuse, but coffee was the only one that also happened to work on Iziek.  Her legs crossed and her arm on the counter of the bar, she tasted the air a moment.  Some kind of commotion outside, it seemed.  She dropped the coffee onto the counter and pushed dark hood up a tad with her left index claw.

Ah, it certainly was some commotion outside, though not anything interesting; Too many sweepers, not enough criminals.  Withdrawing her hand, she let her hood fall back over her eye.  Chuckling, she took another swig of coffee.

Grendile led them through the crowd at a steady, casual pace. Any faster and the criminal would notice them for sure. The criminal didnt seem to notice them in such a large crowd. Even if the criminal had seen them, he'd probably assume they were just some poor, or homeless people, they weren't uncommon in Carnon. They fallowed their criminal for what seemed for forever, until he finally turned a corner, into an alleyway. Now was their chance. They quietly fallowed their criminal into the alleyway. The criminal stopped at the end of the alleyway, not looking back, he was probably waiting for someone. Gunther should easily be able to kill him. He turned to Gunther, motioning towards the criminal. He whispered loud enough for Gunther to hear, but quiet enough so their criminal didnt hear, "He's all yours." He doubted he needed to give much explenation, a well placed bullet would take care of the criminal quickly.

Gunther gave Grendile a nod of acknowledgement. He snuck past the ghost and a bit closer to the criminal, all the while getting his gun ready. The criminal turned. His eyes grew wide as he saw Gunther, and maybe even a bit of Grendile.

"S-sweepers..." He said. It sounded as if his voice was forced out of his throat.

Gunther didn't say anything. He just took aim and shot the man. Twice in the chest. The criminal's body crumpled to the ground and silence fell again.

Gunther turned to Grendile and wiped his face with his sleeve. "Done."

Lothar was occupied with trying to find this weird lizard-human. It couldn't be difficult. They would stick out like a sore thumb. However, that was proven wrong. He searched for such a long time, and had no luck with finding this target of his. He was about to give up.

He would try one last thing before giving up- asking the locals. A lizard-human certainly had to be noticed.

He started with those who patrolled the street first. The homeless, the pickpockets, the vigilantes- anyone he could find, really.

He got some useful leads. Like the gender of the thing. It was female. She was, evidently, a loan-shark. That could help, if he knew how to use that information. Discouraged that he wasn't able to get anything on her location, he just stuck with walking around and keeping a sharp eye out of his target.

Piper, already tired, hungry, upset, and not wanting to hunt down yet ANOTHER stupid criminal, belted a spell out, causing the dead man's body to shrink into about a perfect pocket-size. She trotted over, picked up the dead, doll-like man, and started to run away, a laugh trailing from her lips.

She ran as fast as she could to a nearby exchange office to get the money. Sure it wasn't really considered 'fair', but who cares? She was hungry and needed some money for a hotel room. When she had finally gotten to the exchange office, she cast another spell to reverse the one from before, making the corpse normal size again.

This had gone easier than he thought, much easier. They hardly had to put any effort into killing the criminal. Now they just had to turn in the body. They had two options, drag the body all the way to the exchange center, which would waste a lot of effort and time, or simply just cut off the head. He manadged to get Gunther to do it himself.

After they had left the exchange center they headed back to Gunther's aweful appartment. Outside the appartment building sat Errala, who wasn't aloud to go inside. Errala saw Grendile and ran towards him and managed to knock him over, "Hi! You were gone forever! I found shiny things while you were gone." She ran to her hoarding place and grabbed the newest addition to her collection.

Grendile picked himself up frustrated Errala had knocked her down. He was horrified to see her come back with a grenade, "Get rid of that!" Errala was confused, she dropped it by accident, the shiny pin in it falling off. Grendile was quick to pick the grenade up, and throw it as far as he could. It didnt go off though, it was faulty , he turned back to Errala, "Don't pick up things like that again. Errala pretended she was listening, and ran back to the alleyway wher she kept her hoard. Why did he decide to keep Errala so many years ago? She'd get them killed.

Nekasni placed the now empty mug on the counter, and placed a wad of cash next to it.  Standing, she pushed her hood back a portion so she could see where she was watching, and left the establishment.  Her tail flicked the door shut behind her, and one of the employees switched the sign in the window to "open".  Whilst taking one of the more sketchy alleyways back to her office, she was confronted by one of her informants; A hunch-back who was very, very good at posing as a hobo, by grace of being an actual hobo.

"A sweepuh wuz lookun fer yu", he grunted through a surprisingly realistic (by grace of being a condition he had been diagnosed with) impediment,

"Jist flauntin abot un uf thus postuhs liek it wuz a holuday" A bad metaphor, but it got the point across.  He pointed.

Nekasni turned and started to leave, before realizing that the dirty hobo was following her, an expectant, hopeful look on his swollen, dirt-streaked face.

"Oh.  Right." she muttered, tossing an envelope at him. He was quick to tear it into peices.

Nekasni shook her head, inwardly chuckling at the sweeper who hadn't already heard of her, and, further, still hadn't heard enough to stop asking about it willy-nilly.

Ah, yes, there he was, quote-unquote "flauntin abot un uf thus postuhs liek it wuz a holuday".  Nekasni walked right up behind the sweeper, pulled indescriminate, well-polished gun out of her coat pocket, pressed it right up against his hairy, sweaty head, and notified him that

"I don't think that you'll be getting today's bounty, but if you still need to pay the bills I can offer you a loan."

Iason immediately gave chase to the annoying pest. He held his gun tightly at his side. Lil followed him, barking madly and snarling, with drool dripping from her mouth. The canine quickly out-sped him. Iason was worried for a minute that he could lose her, so he yelled for her to heel. She retreated and followed him, keeping his pace. The girl was gone, though. He slowed down, panting heavily. "I'll... I'll get her... Lil, scent."

The dog immediately went to work, lowering her snout to the ground and digging through the many confusing smells to find the enemy's smell.

Gunther glared at Errala, and muttered to Grendile, "What made you convinced to keep that thing around? She's nothing but trouble." He shook his head and rolled his eyes. He tossed the key to Grendile. "You go ahead and go inside. I'm going to go buy a few things. Since, I need to survive, unlike you."

Lothar froze when he felt the cold barrel at his head. He turned, fixing the strange lizard a look. She looked much different in real life, if even a bit intimidating and grotesque. And, even after he hunted her, she offered a loan?

Loan sharks. How disgusting.

He narrowed his eyes. "At what cost?"

Grendile gave Gunther his whistle, "Use it if you need me." Safetly precautions, Gunther was behind on his payment to Nekasni. There was no telling what Nekasni would do to get her money. When Gunther was out of sight he muttered something to himself, "He's probably going to get beer, the stupid drunk."

He started heading in the building, Errala fallowed, "Can I come in?" Grendile suggested to a sign that said no pets aloud, and walked inside. Errala went to her alleyway where she kept her hoard. Grendile always had time for Gunther, not for her. He didn't even take the time to feed her, she lived off of what she could find in dumpsters. She lay down on her bed of trash bags and scraps of cloth. He hardly took the time to acknowledge her existance. Was she really this much trouble? Did they hate her for being difficult? She burrowed under the bags of trash for warmth, and decided to take a nap.

Nekasni, ever the sales-woman, immediately replied,

"For loans of up to 75,000$, you can arrange for as little .05% interest!"  Technically it was true. Technically.  Yes, it was technically true; it was a dailyinterest statistic.  As in, each day, .05% of the loan was added to the total.  She had better loans; You could get loans with, say, 10% interest, which was a terrible loan, but over the usual amount of time.  Nekasni generally tried to keep these hushed up about, though.  Because he favorite part of the contract was written in the fine print in the middle of a contract so long that no one who couldn't afford a lawyer would ever read it; The home-ownership bit.  yes, Nekasni liked ot make a killing in the cheap homes market.

Piper was rewarded the money for the man that she had 'killed'. It was a decent amount of money, enough to last her her about a week or so. She walked out of the building and into the musty and smelly alleyway. The streets were lined with old robot parts and other pieces of neglected technology, probably used at least thirty years ago. She walked down the alley hoping to find a place to stay.

Suddenly, she saw the hellhound from earlier. What? She thought. Is this idiot seriously trying to follow me? She could see the huge creature sniffing around. She ducked into the shadows and watched very carefully. She began to climb up the side of the building by grabbing onto a nearby window.

Gunther made his way to the store, and used his collections to purchase alcohol, food to last him for a while (at least until his next hunt), and a multitude of steak. He planned to get Errala to be on his side, so when Grendile forced him to do something unpleasant, he at least had something to get back at him. He made his way back, and went into the room to drop off his goods. He snuck past Grendile's radar with the steaks and made his way back outside. He looked around for Errala, and found her hoard in the alley. He approached her, setting down the steaks. She was sleeping; he saw her nose twitch at the smell of food.

Lothar glared at Nekansi, considering this. He refused to let himself fall into the holes that loans dug for people. He turned away from her. If he had to, he would find another victim to hunt down. "I am not interested in a loan," he said testily. "I can handle myself. I don't need you to take care of me."

Iason let Lil lead the way. The canine was leading him around by her scent, which the paths often went in spirals when she caught scent of food. He had to snap at her to get her attention back on the task at hand. Lil lead him into an alley. She stopped and sat next to a building, pressing her back to the wall. She looked at him with huge eyes and a lolling tongue. He looked around, but caught no sight of the girl.

"Lil," he drawled. "Where is she?"

Lil tilted her head sideways, then raised her snout up. Iason followed her look to the girl, who was climbing up the wall. He grinned and pulled out his gun. "Thank you girl," he praised the dog.

"You!" He snapped, narrowing his eyes. "I have you now!"

The New Days in the Life of a Sweeper
Setting
The continent of Carnon. It is a large land mass, with many differen climates and it features many odd species of animal. Humans occupy the large cities and the small towns, and most of them know to avoid the wilderness of the country.

The other continents are Sharquee- a place known for its royalty and manners, and the other an unexplored desert continent.

Carnon City is the capital of Carnon, where the government is stationed. The wealthy live here, and if you are someone worthy of talking about, you probably live here.

South Banks Megalopolis is the main station of sweepers. Here, the headquarters lies and the most famous paying stations are located. This city is teeming with sweepers, and most of everyone who lives here has ties with the sweeper organization.

Kolnco is named "gem of the Coast". Here, fishing is a profitable occupation. It's a beautiful place, and ever since the enlightenment of technology, it has been a popular tourist attraction. The beaches are ignored and polluted anymore- but who cares about water and sand anyways?

Capricorn is a mysterious town stationed in the misty Mountains of War. Here, the famous underground caverns exist, and are now a trade road to connect this city with the others. It grew a bit in size since the fall of Sinew, but it is still a place where not many plan to travel to.

Mariola is a small pleasant town. It's a peaceful place, and many have moved here to start families. It's located on the plains. Here, farms are successful. Without this town, the rest of the country could starve.

Plot
After the fall of Sinew, it was noted how important sweepers were to Carnon's existence. Since then, they have been revered as the new law enforcement; which made being a sweeper profitable and eventful. Sweepers were treated grandly by the citizens of the country, and, no matter where you were, you would see one or two sweepers patrolling the streets. The cities grew larger and wealthier because of the rebirth of the government. Carnon's government grew aware of the benefits that came from sweepers, and so a political party was soon formed to defend the sweepers and to keep them going. The people thought this was brilliant, and soon the pro-sweeper party grew famous and popular among the citizens. However, it has its deeper secrets.

Around the time the pro-sweeper party came into power, pledging that the police should be erased all together so that sweepers may defend the country; a new organization was founded. It was ignored for a while, and during that time, it started to build an army of police drones. It was planned that Carnon shall become dependant on sweepers, and, once it was babied by the bounty hunters, the police drones would be sent out. They would cause the sweepers to go extinct, and, once that happened- the pro-sweeper party would have to come into major power to defend the country from falling into another collapse.

And, thus, a new enemy is being forged to play against the ever-growing mass of sweepers.

History
70 years ago, back when Sinew was still in power, two groups of enemy sweepers sought out to find and kill the evil Criminal Lord. They finally learned to settle their differences and brought down Sinew together, causing a long era of peace after that.
