Blue Paws stepped courageous through the snow like he was a penguin,He wobbled on his paws. When was the last time he had eaten? The sun reflected on his grey coat and made the blue glow clearly visible. He had slept a while in the snow but it was to cold to for him to sleep further. All this time he hadn't seen any animal, that made him quite sad. He did't understand anything of it, his pack gone, the other animals gone. He looked at his own gray tail And began to run behind it, trying to catch his tail. His mood changed.
He didn't need his pack, he'll entertain himself.
The white wolf seemed to be taking a long time to think, and Atka was growing nervous. He feared this prolonged silence was a sign that the wolf had no plans of agreeing to his suggestion.Â
He heard and sensed the other wolf, the female, sneak up closer. He was well aware when she hunkered down within hearing range. He wondered if she might be an ally in all of this.Â
Well, I guess I'll have to wait and see what the white wolf says before I can attempt to bring the other into it, Atka thought to himself.
So, he lowered himself into a laying position, placed his large head on his paws, and waiting for a response.
What in the world did the bear want? He wasn't attacking, at least. But he wasn't doing anything else, either. He seemed to be waiting for the other wolf or her to say somthing. Maybe he's trying to be kind, thought Fang. If I speack first, that should at least indicate my dominance to the strange wolf, she concluded.
Eventually Fang stood up on the hill, still above the others, and said as boldly as she could, "I am Fang, lone wolf. I would like to know what you two are doing so close to my territory, and what you are doing." She hoped they decided that she was the dominant one.
Atka turned his large head towards the voice of the green-eyed wolf. She was clearly displaying dominance, but he could sense her uncertainty. Rising slowly, Atka turned and walked part way up the hill. Standing, tall and proud, he began to speak.Â
"My name is Atka Nanuq. I had noticed that more wolves seem to be loners now. There's one who's particularly worrying me. A young pup, grey with a blue glow to his coat. He wanders all alone, with no one to care for him. I fear he might not be able to survive on his own. I thought perhaps the lone wolves could band together. Maybe.." Here Atka looked down at his own paws shyly. "..maybe you could even find room for a polar bear in your midst?" He looked up, icy blue eyes twinged with hope and expectation, while he waited for the wolf to respond.
Fang looked at the bear in surprise at his words. She'd thought polar bears were solitairy creatures, and now one wanted to be in pack? With wolves? Then again, things were getting strange lately. This was proof. Perhaps it would be good idea to form a pack . . . and polar bears were known for being powerful and generally lawful animals, at least that's what Fang heard. "So...you're suggesting us lone animals form a pack?"
As she waited for the bear's response, she truly noticed how large he was. If he wanted, he could kill her easily, so Fang reasoned it would be a good idea to join forces with him and perhaps the other lone wolves.
As Atka stared into the female wolf's green eyes, he caught a scent on the breeze. It was the lone wolf pup.
Â
"Yes, especially with the young ones who cannot take care of themselves. I smell the pup. Follow me, hopefully we can catch up to him!"
With that, Atka turned and ran in the direction of the scent. His gait was lumbering, but somehow graceful. He stuck his large, black nose in the hair in hopes of not losing the scent. He didn't even turn to see if the silvery-white wolf was following. He just barreled on, as fast as he could, towards the scent of the little, lonely wolf pup.
