Atka Nanuq stood tall on the crest of the icy hill, looking out over the harsh tundra before him. The wind played with the thick, white fur ruff on his neck. After gazing for a moment at the frozen landscape, Atka turned and plodded back down the hill. His immense paws left gaping round footprints in the snow behind him, a trail anyone could follow. Atka didn't have to worry, though. He was one of the largest and most muscular polar bears in the tundra and the snowleopards, though fast, were no match for his strength. Atka began jogging along, and then released his energy into a full on run. With his paws pounding on the crisp snow and the wind whipping through his ears, Atka ran on towards his home, a large ice cave in a cliff.
two pair of pale blue eyes looked admiringly over the tundra Along with a shrill sound coming from it's throat. The wind had free game and made exuberantly use of it. A small, gray wolf cub scraped with his right front paw over the crunching ice while keeping an eye on the hills made of ice. A sense of freedom went through him by the thought of going to such a iceberg and to stand on top of it. little paws ran excitedly through the snow toward a small iceberg And stopped just at the top of the iceberg. A loud howl rang through the area created by a young animal. Blue paws looked longingly around, but the only thing there was white snow falling from the sky.
Atka settled down to eat inside of the large, icy cavern he called home. A lonely howl echoed in the distance. Atka listened. The howl spoke of longing, loneliness, and perhaps some sadness. He sighed. That was all the tundra seemed to give anymore, lonliness and sorrow. It seemed many of it's occupants had disappeared, vanishing into the snowy night. Of course, Atka huffed, that's not really what happened. What had really happened was just that everyone was hiding. Hiding fromm what, the wise polar bear had yet to discover, he just knew that one day several weeks ago, everyone had vanished from the icy world he called home. Sure, he still spotted them now and again, but always they would duck away, behind some rock or into the unforgiving waters beneath the ice. It saddened Atka, for more than anything right now, he wanted a friend.
Paws dragged heavily through the snow. No howling was to be heard over the harsh winds of a blizzard. Not a mouse skampered underneath the snow, and every caribou track was obscured by the snow and wind. Odyssey walked with his head down and ears shoved back, to avoid the cold wind piercing his very marrow. A malcadh he was, thrown out of his pack as a pup, and never to return. He was cursed. The marks he bore frightened the other wolves, they were only cowards. He walked aimlessly, with nowhere to go, but into the vast expanse of whiteness before him. He began to howl despairingly.

Peering over the frozen hill, Atka watched to sorrowful form of the white wolf howl as he walked slowly and miserably throw the snow.

That's the second lone wolf I've seen today.. Atka mused worriedly. I hope there's not something wrong with the wolf population? He wondered and worried for a few moments, then his mind turned to something else. The young wolf cub he'd seen earlier. Why wasn't he with his pack? I wonder if he was lost? All of these lone wolves couldn't be good, especially when one was still just a young pup. Atka resolved to keep his eye out for the younger one. If he saw him again, maybe he'd try to help him. But for now, Atka plodded back to his cavern, curled up, and fell fast asleep.

Odyssey absently disregarded each animal he saw, even if it were food. An appetite is not a thing to be worrying about at a time so troubled as this.

The wolf packs were becoming corrupt, and not only within his clan, but across the clans for miles upon miles. No, it's not my clan anymore. He heaved a sigh. He only felt as if there were no hope left in the terrible world. Not a wolf to trust. If only somewhere there were a haven that ones could go to when there were nowhere else to go.

A sweet scent of blood brought Odyssey back to the real world. He was hungry, no matter how much he wanted to ignore it. So he plodded on through the deep snow and thanked Lupus that the blizzard had recessed.

It was late now. The wind howled mournfully across the barren landscape. Stars twinkled brightlly in the moonless sky. Atka plodded thoughtfully along. He was headed for the highest point around, an icy hill that seemed to reach to the sky. He loved to sit there when the Northern Lights danced across the sky. It felt close enough to touch when he sat there, and sometimes he would even dance atop the mountain and imagine he was a part of the beautiful lights. He could always sense when the lights were going to appear, so he was always there waiting. Tonight he was sure they would appear, so he was making his way along. As he walked, he was thinking about the strange, lone wolves he had seen.

I wonder if they need help? I wonder if there's some way I could help them? If I see them again, I think I'll ask them. They looked so sad, lonely, and the pup looked so helpless...

He continued this train of thought until the lights decorated the sky and he lost himself in the elaborate dance.

As the night grew dark, Odyssey finally started to feel settled. His paws had lost their wariness long ago and he knew that someone was watching over him by looking at the twinkling stars. A full belly made him sleepy, when every night was sleepless. He knew he would sleep comfortably tonight, Despite the fact that I had taken food from others to get it.

Odyssey peered up into the night, and traced the constellations of Lupus in his mind's eye. Light flicked and danced as the northern lights began to appear. The fluorescent colours softened his mood, and he closed his eyes to bask in the beauty of the night.

Laying his muzzle lightly onto his paws and tucking in his tail, Odyssey dozed off happily and began to dream.

Trotting down from the icy hill, Atka thought he knew what he should do. He wasn't sure how to do it, or even if it would work, but he knew he had to try. So, without even waiting for morning, he began searching for the little wolf pup.

Maybe I can bring the wolf pup and the lone wolf together. Maybe we could all stay together, then we wouldn't be so lonely. At the very least, maybe the lone wolf would take care of the pup. Atka was very concerned about the wolf pup. He didn't know much about wolves in general, but he was fairly certain that a lone wolf pup didn't have much chance of survival in this harsh, unforgiving environment. And with that in mind, Atka returned to searching with renewed vigor.

A small gray wolf stepped curiously through the rough tundra,His paws almost completely disappeared in the snow. Normally, he wasn't afraid when darkness fell but this time a feeling of loneliness came over him. He wished he was back close to his mother and father, playing with his siblings ,sleeping peacefully at night between the rest of his pack. Searching he looked around for a shelter, Two pale-blue eyes looked through the darkness,The falling snow hindered his vision. He stretched his paw out at the falling snow and tried to get the snow away. He growled softly, it did not sound really threatening.

Odyssey woke, not entirely sure what had woken him, and peered out from behind massive paws. The whiteness, remnants from last night's storm, enveloped the landscape. The new sun cast shades of pink and orange in the sky, and snowflakes glittered on the breeze.

I would enjoy the day more if I weren't alone, he sighed. The days grew longer, and as his lonliness had begun to subside, it just crept back like an old, unwanted friend.

As Odyssey stretched out, yawned and settled onto his haunches, he scanned the tundra. Scraggly bushes and rocks barely poked out of the thick blanket of snow, leaving hiding places for only small animals.

He started at a scuffling noise not far away, and thought at first he were looking at a pile of snow. Odyssey shook the sleep out of his eyes and froze at the sight of a hulking poler bear looking straight at him.

Fang sat in the trees at the edge of the snowy plain, feeling uneasy. There had been strange noises that night. Lone wolves were becoming strangly common recently, and other animals sensed it. Especially the ones with more knowledg and power, like polar bears. Fang hadn't seen a polar bear in moons. She had decided that they had gone into hiding, because somthing was wrong. After the sun had risen a little, Fang trotted around the edge of her trees, re-marking them as hers and on the lookout for prey - she hadn't eaten in a while. Just after she finshed and had eaten, and was returning to her place by the trees at the plain of white, she smelt something strange, and not far away, either.

Atka peered at the lone wolf. He was sure it was one of the lone wolves he had seen earlier. Not the pup, though. Atka had been unable to find the pup, though he had searched all night. Now the wolf awoke before Atka. Atka could sense another wolf nearby, but he was fairly certain she was alone. He hoped maybe she would come join them. Maybe he could band together this motly crew of loners.

"I hope I didn't frighten you." Atka spok in a low and growly, yet gentle voice. "I've been searching for you and the young wolf pup who is all alone. I thought maybe we could band together. Or," He paused and pawed at the ground shyly. "if you're uncomfortable with me being a polar bear, you could at least band with the pup?" He waited silently, listening to the stirrings of the nearby lady-wolf, as he waited for the lone wolf to speak.

Fang began running as fast as she could toward the strnge combination of scents. As the scents drew nearer, Fang realised that one scent was a male wolf - and lone, as well, with vague pack scents. But she couldn't quite figure out what it was until she came over a rise, and saw the lone wolf, as well as a polar bear. The bear was huge. She had never seen one this near before. Fang crept back a few steps to try and avoid being noticed, but if the wind started blowing the other way, then she was doomed.

Atka tossed a careless glance over his shoulder to let the female wolf know he had heard her approach. He wanted to speak, to let her know she didn't have to be afraid, but he didn't want to break the silence. So he just glanced over his shoulder repeatedly, gesturing for the wolf to move closer. He knew his sheer size was probably terrifying. But he wanted her to know he had no intentions of harming her. After tossing his head in her direction several times, he refocused his attention on the white body of the wolf before him, waiting for him to finally speak.
