How do you find caring for your dinosaurs daily?
Easy-going. I can take my time and feed each dinosaur individually and according to their needs, or just feed them en-masse.
I think it's fun to care for something, and I like how we have varying degrees of care, from feeding them every day with the highest quality meat to feeding them twice a week with chum. It's just whatever you want to do.
Can you suggest any ways to make daily care for dinosaurs easier or more fun?
I think it would be awesome if dinosaurs had food preferences based on species. Each species could technically eat -anything-, but each species prefers a specific thing and gets more stat bonuses or more hunger filled up when fed their preferred thing.
How do you find battling?
Slow, a little awkward. I handbattle so that's probably why. NPC battle is really tempting but unless you have at least a hundred dinosaurs, NPC battle doesn't make enough money to be worth having it.
I really like handbattling but wish it was smoother somehow, quicker to do. Obviously it shouldn't be like NPC battle where with one click your dino is battled, but still not take as long.
What about trials? Do you use them?
Not at the moment but I'd like to one day when I have less dinosaurs. I don't really have much to say about trials. I like how there are different categories for dinosaurs to compete in.
If you use herbivore hunting, do you feel satisfied with the feature? If not, why not?
I use herbivore hunting quite regularly.
I think it's an amazing feature. You can feed your dinos AND get experience AND cull unneeded stock from your herd. Like, what could be better? I lovelovelove herbivore hunting.
I wish that hunting enclosures had more options to them. At the moment they're all the same and only vary in what species you put in and how much the fee is (if you have a public one). It'd be nice if somehow they could have different settings, like with raptor enclosures. There could be medium density, low density, high density vegetation. It could affect the hunting in some way, though I'm not sure how yet.
Do you use the human avatar feature?
Not at all. I'm not a person fond of human avatars. But, I do appreciate having that option on this website, for people who do enjoy them.
I will become very disappointed if human avatars ever 'do' things besides being something you can dress up, though. On some other websites, human avatars can read books and battle with each other and such. I really do not like that.
Are you happy with the community features available? (Chat, forums, etc)
Very pleased. The combination of both a forum and live chat is great.
I've seen some sites offer a user advertisement feature, where users can pay money (site currency, not real money) in order to host an advertisement for site-related things on the site. Not a text-ad like in our advertisements section, but a graphical ad, selling dinosaurs or items in their shop or whatever. They're placed at the very bottom of the page, so they're very unobtrusive.
I think this would be nice, it could serve as a moneysink. Though, an option should be available to make these ads not visible.
Would you say you have a lot of friends on Exhibited?
Not really. I keep to myself and am not a big participate in the chat or forums. Plus, I'm a fairly newer player and haven't been around everyone for years like some of the older players.
Are you happy with the community itself on EX?
Yes, I find it very welcoming. I also enjoy how there's a great variety of ages and personalities here, so most people can find others like themselves.
How do you feel about the Gurus and Moderators on EX? Do they feel friendly and approachable?
Oh yes, definitely. They have helped me out many a time.
Are you looking forward to the explore feature planned? Have you heard about it?
I always look forward to new EX features!
I've heard a little about it. I think it will be nice, particularly for people that have their own little favorite dinos that they want to spoil by taking them exploring.
Are there any features you really dislike, and if so, why?
I can't really think of anything I really dislike. Some things like human avatars and our shelves I find to be a time-waster, but I just don't do them then. ^^
Are there any features you feel are missing from Exhibited but if they were added, would really improve your experience here?
I would really like if there were more things to breed for. You've already suggested tameness, which I am -in love- with, but I would appreciate other things as well.
It would be nice if dinosaur clutch sizes could be bred for- i.e., people could breed for dinos to have small clutches or large clutches. Maybe 60 percent of the clutch size could be random, and then 40 percent be genetically determined. I'm not sure about how that would be to program, though. =(
It'd be nice if we could breed for disease resistance/immunity as well.
Essentially, I just want more things to breed for!
People have suggested cooking before, and I think that would be nice too. Oh, and prehistoric insects. Maybe as collectables to put on our shelves.
Maybe occupations that get a little bit of money each day?
Do you have any general suggestions for Exhibited that you think would really help improve the game?
One word: Fish!
I really, really love the prehistoric fishtanks we have, but I wish there was more we could do with them. I wish our tanks had slots and that we could upgrade their sizes, like how we do with raptor and herbivore enclosures already. I also wish our tanks could get illnesses or something. Basically, be more interactive.
Oh, and another thing.
It wouldn't really improve the gameplay, per say, but I'd really like to know the progress on new features. It'd be cool if you had a forum thread where you posted updates on the development of new features. But that's just me- I always want to know the behind-the-scenes info, I feel like it makes you, the programmer, more like a person rather than some coding machine that pops out new things every now and then.
Any other comments?
Kitty, you are the best site admin I have ever seen, and I've been to a lot of virtual pet sims. You're -always- adding new things and making EX better, you value user input tons, and you aren't some absent faraway admin; you actually participate in the forums, talk in chat, play with your dinos. You stay right on top of bug fixes and take care of them right as they come up. I can't applaud you enough.
