Maria shrugged and looked over at one of the cells, disgust and disappointment welling up inside of her. She could almost see herself locked in there, waiting, begging, as a wolf, to be let free. It was going to be a hard night...

She didn't respond to Clayton's words right away; it took her a few moments to put herself together again. There was only one answer she could think of, and she was nearly tired of saying it, but it was the truth to that whole system of abuse and use.

"It's my responsibility to take care of my wolf... she takes care of me, lets me use her body when I need her... Being free is the only way she gets to run free, the only way he," and she pointed at Clayton, "gets to be free. He's never even had a real hunt before, I'll wager."

"No," Clayton breathed. "he hasn't. Only the fenced in area."

The one biggest thing that was holding him back from being fullheartedly in this excape plan was that he felt like leaving was selfish. He had a job here and was needed. But now that there was someone else that would benifit if he excaped, it seemed less bad. Even though it wasn't something he could control, Clayton felt bad for imprisoning the wolf. Only thirdteen days of the year, that was a pitifully small number of days.

"You won't be put here tonight. They rather have these spaces open in case there is an extreamely adgressive wolf. They will try all they can to get your wolf to at least tolerate other wolves." Clayton said.

Maria nodded and said, "I do hope I can get along with others. Me and her have always been alone, even under my last master. He let us all run free as we liked, though we wore a collar that would lead him to where we were if we ran too far. She never tried following the other wolves, I think it unsettled her. I suppose we'll just have to see how tonight goes..."

Maria wasn't totally looking foward to it, but she was much calmer after Clayton's words, even if it didn't appear so. Again he had proven to balance her out - his calm words were reliable and firm in the face of her turbulent thoughts.

Clayton opened the door to the kennels and stepped out of the building. He didn't like the sight of it any more. He held open the door for Maria.

"Remember when I said you might get a job assigned today?" Clayton said. He paused to give her time to actually remember. "Well I wasn't taking into account that it is full moon tonight. It won't happen today. Knowing full moon is coming can stress people out and make them not perform up to their normal standards." He felt bad that he had forgotten and told her the wrong thing. It was almost like lying.

Maria grinned almost wickedly at him and exited the building, turning around to say in a bright tone,

"How wonderful! That gives me much more time to figure out what talents I should show in order to get a job close to you!"

Then she spun a small, energetic circle and turned her eyes up to the sky, closing her eyes and soaking in the sun, trying to purify herself from the darkness and moral dirtiness of the cell lined building. It had reminded her far too much of being at the pound and the training school she had been sent to.

"You shouldn't do that!" Clayton said. "Once you got a job your stuck with it. I don't want you to get a job you hate just because you wanted to be near where I work." Clayton paused. "Plus, I get moved around to different offices a lot. There are medical areas dotted around this whole place so that if someone is hurt there is always one place nearby. They are all colorcoded blue."

He then realised that Maria didn't plan on staying here long, so whatever job she got, she wouldn't be stuck with it forever. Perhaps it was a good idea to get into a job the worked near him. It may help in an excape plan in some way.

Maria laughed in her soft way at him, raising her chin and looking down at him with a smile, her head tilted to the side.

"You're so adorable - I'd rather get stuck in one office and only see you every few days than work in the house and never see you at all, dearest. How terrible would that be? I'm not sure I'd be able to get through the week on the hope of running into you at the mess hall or getting injured enough to see you as my doctor."

Just thinking of not seeing him made her feel off balance and alone.

Clayton turned his face away from Maria to head his reddening face. When she said things like that it made him feel like she was in love with him or something. He didn't know how to react to that, he didn't even know if her words meant what he thought they meant.

People here weren't allowed to pair up, pairs were made for breeding only and the two went their seborate ways. Clayton never was paired with anyone, it must not have any traits that Greyson wanted in any other pups. He was thankful for that, he hated the idea of having children he couldn't even interact with.

Since he was avoiding Maria's gaze, he wasn't looking where he was going but he was still walking forward. He was too distracted to notice that he was walking straight to a very soild object. He didn't know until his head made contact with the lamp post. He took a few steps backward, his brain not processing what had happened.

Maria hadn't noticed his trajectory until he was only a step away from the pole, and before she could reach out to stop him he'd run right into it. She grabbed him by the shoulders and turned him towards her, looking into his eyes with surprise and concern.

"Clayton! Are you alright? Walking straight into something like it's not even there - you're too adorable. Does it hurt anywhere?" she asked, giving soft, single exhales of silent laughter in a disbelieving way.

She put a gentle hand under his chin, the other still holding his shoulder, and turned his head to inspect the damage more closely.

"Uh, yeah I'm okay..." Clayton said, his mind clearing. "I wasn't watching where I was going, that's all."

He stayed still and allowed Maria to look him over. He could feel a bruse starting to form above his eyes. You can't do anything for a bruse, you just need to wait for it to heal on his own.

"I'm fine really." He insisted. He took a step away from Maria and put his hand up to his forehead were he felt like the bruse was forming.

"I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention." He said. He felt bad that he worried Maria just because he was being stupid.

She shook her head at him in an endearing way, before putting her hands on her hips and cocking her head to the side. There was no doubt that he was clumsy. She had seen evidence of that from day one. He reminded her of an awkward kitten or puppy that was prone to tripping and stumbling, all the while looking terribly surprised each time it happened.

"What are we going to do with you? That looks like it's going to be an awful bruise - you ought to put an onion on that as soon as possible. I don't suppose you have any at your little clinic?"

"An onion? Why would I need that?" Clayton said. It took him a moment to realise what is meant.

"Oh, I forgot about that. But an onion is food, and food is only allowed in the mess hall. I would real stupid sitting there holding an onion on my head." He said. "It's fine, I've had a lot of bruses before and it doesn't really hurt." He then starting looking around for a clock anywhere. Sometime there would be clocks put up on the outside of buildings.

"What time is it?" He asked. He looked up at the sky to try to judge the time but couldn't. It was getting late but, not dark yet.

Maria shrugged her delicate shoulders in a dainty manner and looked up at the sky with him. "I'm rather unsure. I'm terrible at keeping track of time - I usually lived without it, even when I had jobs and places to be."

Things had been so carefree in those days that each day slipped by without her needing to look at a clock, desperate for time to pass faster. More often than not she wouldn't realize how much overtime she had put in because she was enjoying her work so much. That feeling of timelessness was something she looked forward to.

"They'll be a clock around here somewhere." Clayton said. "Since its full moon, we get dinner sooner so there is more time to get everything ready." He explained. "We should get to the mess hall just in case."

Clayton started walking again. He would rather not go through full moon on a empty belly, then is wolf would be spending the whole night looking for food. The poor thing would be looking for kibble though since it had never seen or eaten anything else. Also he didn't think that it would help making is transformation any easier.

He had been told the more often you do it the easier it was at full moon, but he never had any reason to.

Maria nodded and followed him dutifully, looking up at the sky as they walked. A question began to formulate in her mind, but she hesitated at the thought of saying anything. It took her a minute or so to finally get the words from her brain to her mouth and even longer to get them to leave her lips.

"Clayton... while I was serving under my last master... we would each enter a separate, small room in the housing unit to transform. There was a garage door, so once we'd become wolves the doors would open, and we could run as we pleased. I... I often heard some of the other girls faintly through the walls... though I remember little... I was always under the impression that... well, that they were in pain... or distress... as they transformed..." she said in a halting manner, trying to articulate her words carefully.

The Pound
Setting

The facility has walls lined with cells, each consisting of three concrete walls, a bare floor, a low ceiling and a wall of clear acryilic which faces the aisle and doubles as a door.

Presently, it's morning and the pound as just opened up for the day.

Plot

The world is such that is condones slavery-- of gifteds, werewolves, vampires and the like. The slave trade is a booming industry, making millionaires within months. Everyone has their own reasons for owning the creatures, some require extra help around the house, others see it as a way to display their wealth, and still others buy them just for the pleasure of breaking them.

As with all things, some people grow tired of their slaves. Now, selling them would take time and energy that some either don't have or are unwilling to waste it on a slave. That is where the 'pound' comes in. They take the discarded slaves, no questions asked and sell them for cheap.

History
The roleplay was made.
Rules

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PLOT WAS NOT MADE UP BY ME!

This roleplay as copied straight from another roleplay from a website called MaraPets. The person who made this roleplay is called Rainkit. Do not give me credit for this, as I did not think of it.

Also please note that I do not in anyway think that slavery is okay in real life!

You may join as a human, gifted, werewolf or vampire.

Humans are never slaves.

Please keep the number of humans and slaves around even, without both of them the roleplay doesn't work.

Don't make slaves with extreamly dangerous powers, they would have been killed, not sold as slaves.

The point of the roleplay is not to stay in the pound, humans should come in and buy slaves then take them home. It is the person who is controling the human's responsabilty to create a setting. For example a farmhouse, or a big expensive house.

Don't make masters who treat their slave's as equals, its over used and quite frankly, really boring.

You can make a slave who was born into slavery or has never spend a day of their lives as slaves, just make up a good reason why they were never caught.

A quick note on slave breeding. First off don't roleplay anyone doing the deed please!

Second, for werewolves they will give birth to a litter rather than a single child. This is because they cannot change from human to wolf while pregnate or they'll kill their children. Since full moon forces a change, they got to stay as a wolf 100% of the time while pregnate. The litter will be born as pups and will stay as pups until about a month or so until they can shift to their human form.
