Species Suggestions

Is Exhibited missing one of your favourite raptor species? Post them here!

Species Suggestions: Read
I think this goes without saying that your favorite celebrity won't win an award simple because you shout out their name the loudest. A name might not tell anything, even if it sounds really cool. You'll have to list their achievements in order for others to recognize and appreciate their work and hopefully they'll be nominated for the award. Er, let me explain... o_O

There is a large number of different species and it's unfortunate that some or a lot of them won't make it to Exhibited. There's no doubt you're excited about a new raptor species you've discovered for yourself and you'd happily raise a few specimens of your own, but before you get too excited there are a few things you should keep in mind.

The first step is to make sure the species is appropriate: it's obvious that rats, giraffes or crocodiles will not be added. (there goes my attempt to be funny...*ahem*)

In Kitty's (#1) own words:

Having other species of dinosaurs
"Like herbivores, etc etc. That's a great idea and I AM adding them - herbivores will be able to be raised similarly to cattle, for example - but other species of dinosaurs will not be playable like the raptors. The reason for this is I want to put more focus on the carnivores on this game. We can't take away from the stars of the show!"

You might also want to check out the site owner's stickies to find out if the species you're suggesting is already accepted/rejected. http://www.exhibited-sim.com/topic.php?id=138

* Secondly, make sure this species isn't added on this game already; then double check if there isn't a thread about the wanted species. If there is, don't create a separate post - it will only confuse players - simply cast your vote and be patient. =)

If there isn't a post about the species yet, then you probably have no other choice than to create one yourself. As I said earlier, simply a name of the species won't say anything, let alone a group. Do a bit of a research. These following points are extremely appreciated:

Name:
Diet:
Height:
Lenght:
Weight:

You may go to the Museum or read other suggestion posts for examples. It's OK if you don't have all of the answers, maybe someone else can or will help you, but it's essential to build a foundation on which the potential supporters can rely on.

Don't be discouraged by the long post, your contribution and ideas matter to us - the more help and info you can provide the more we appreciate your input. And the bigger are your chances to have your new favorite species added (duh)! <img src=images/emotes/2.gif>
You're every wonder in this world to me. -

NAME: Ceratosaurus nasicornis

DIET: Carnivore

HEIGHT: 3.5 meters (12 feet)

LENGHT: 9 meters (30.5 feet)

WEIGHT: 500 kg (1 ton)

LOCATION: Utah, Colorado, USA, Tanzania, east Africa, Portugal

ERA: Late Jurasic

NAME MEANS: "Nasal horned lizard"

NAME PRONOUNCED: ceh-rah-toh-SORE-us

INFORMATION: Ceratosaurus was a medium sized carnivore that lived at the same time as the larger Allosaurus, in the Late Jurassic period. However, it also lived some millions of years before the emergence of the successful Allosauroids, being of the more primitive four fingered "Ceratosauria". What makes it different and distinctive is the large horn on top of its nose and the two horns over its eyes. About 100 years ago, when it was first discovered, it was one of the most well-known dinosaurs. Another unusual feature is that Ceratosaurus had four fingers on its hands, instead of the more common three among the other large meat-eaters. He was capable to hunt animals smaller than him, ambushing with his terrifying dentition, but he wasn't able to defeat bigger animals like te might Sauropods, but was able to defeat animals like Stegosaurus in little packs of two ceratosaurus.

INTERESTING FACT: Ceratosaurus was the only teropod carnivore with a horned formation in is nose. Some people though that those large horns were used to attack, but scientists discovered that this was used only to exibition, because the horn was so fragle to being used to attack. The male ceratosaurus proably used their horns to expose to other male adults, to see who as the bigger horn, to defend territory

Name: Pneumatoraptor fodori.

Nutrition: carnivorous.
Turkey-sized, light-bodied.
Era: Kréta.
Found fossils: Hungary, Bakony mountain, Iharkút.
Etymology: Pneumatoraptor: A raptor with pneumatized bones; fodori: after Géza Fodor, operative of the Bakony Bauxite Mining Company.
Information:Pneumatoraptor is the smallest known predatory (Theropoda) dinosaur in the Iharkút fauna. Based on its fragmentary remains (part of the shoulder girdle, limb elements) adults did not exceed the size of a turkey. As it was assumed in other raptorial theropods Pneumatoraptor moved most probably in herds to lay out their prey. Their teeth are 1 cm high, flattened and serrated for a more precize shear of the meet, skin and thiner bones.
Curiosity: Although raptors of the Jurassic Park were reconstruced with scales on their skin, for today it is evident that Pneumatoraptor and relatives (e.g. members of the Dromaeosauridae and Troodontidae clades) were feathered dinosaurs. Although there is still no direct evidence for feathers in Pneumatoraptor, fossilized feathers, their impressions and skeletal features clearly demonstrate that these animals, similarly to recent birds, were covered by feathers and integuments very similar to feathers.

Name: Dryptosaurus aquilunguis
Diet: Carnivore
Height: 6.5 feet
Length: 25 feet
Weight: 1.7 tons
Location: New Jersey, USA
Era: Late Cretaceous, 67 mya
Name means: "Tearing lizard" (specific name means "eagle claw")
Name pronounced:drip-TOE-sawr-us (aw-quill-un-gwiss)
Information: Dryptosaurus was discovered in 1866 by Edward D. Cope and named Laelaps; however, that name already belonged to a mite, so Cope's rival, Othniel C. Marsh, renamed the fossil Dryptosaurus in 1877. Despite being well-known at that time, Dryptosaurus is practically unknown to today's public, and its fossil record is so poor that we can't even be sure what it looked like.
Interesting fact: Dryptosaurus was the first carnivorous dinosaur known from North America!
