Moriko was digging again trying to find her cellar with a rope tied to the reminants of trees sticking out of the dust. It hadn't rained in too long... Whenever she found a plant she watered it so there was patchy foilage attracting some herbivores mostly enchenadon and other small fry... She was praying for rain... She'd watered a few trees restoring some foilage... Moriko had just found all of the wells on her property and was using the memory of that lay out to attempt to triangulate where her cellar was. Her raptors were out hunting they might bring down something large enough to feed her this time...

There was a growl and she looked up Tiger had a dead enchenadon in his mouth looking well fed. Thank god for Tiger... He was reliable and knew she needed food.ツShe climbed out of the hole and cooked the first food she had in days... Eating some and smoking the rest putting it into her pack... It was dark by the time she was done so she crawled into her tent that she'd hidden with branches. But a diet of pure protein and very little in the way of calcium and vitamins was sapping Moriko's body. She tried to powder bone to get precious calcium with minimal results... But it was her only real source of calcium. She knew she had to keep her heart beating and her bones strong... At least the bone marrow was high in calories...

Crunch grind crunch grind... Moriko had a morter and pestal she'd found and was powdering bone again to mix into an edible paste... This time she'd found a sauropod's nest with fertile eggs that had been incubating... Hundreds of eggs... She'd managed to take a bucket from a well and boil the thing feeding some to her raptors and more importatly grinding the shell with her bone... She'd been careful to hide the eggs without disturbing the nest hoping new hatchlings would provide food at a later date. She had more calcium which she ate. Eggs are also very nutritious to begin with so her starving body welcomed the nutrients. She'd eaten well that day and decided to spend the day at rest and she pulled out the old map of her property that had blown by in the wind... It was an older map and the cellar was not marked... But she could possibly uncover her house and have a more reliable shelter... possibly access to running water and electricity if she could find her solar pannels and the water main was still functioning... But what she was really praying for was rain... To water the parched landscape and sinking ground water might help stock her wells further... But what she really needed was people... To not only help with the work but just to talk to...

"Whadya think, Red?"

Mavier looked at the hulking reptile. He made a sort of cooing noise, snuffling at her playfully.

"Hm. If I didn't know any better, I'd say there was someone living here..."

She began to pick her way down the steep bank, giving an oddly verdant tree a suspicious look.

Lanner flew down, Red began to cautiously follow, and Trudge accicdentally managed to fling himself doewn the bank, screeching frantically as he tumbed down.

Mavier cringed and looked around nervoulsy. All that noise was bound to alert anyone in the area of their presence... On the off chane that someone WAS here, they would probably not ツbe happy with tresspassers.

Her dinosaurs were fine, but Mavier was in no condition to fight. SHe was really too young to properly handle the sort of strain the situation had forced upon her, and she was injured as well.

This could get messy.

Moriko heard a ruckus and saw someone with a few very hungry and thirsty looking dinosaurs... She showed herself and said "I don't have enough food to feed your allosaurus but I do have water... I also am trying to find something I hid away... I won't tell you about that just yet... All I have are my wells and what little food I can scrounge up... Ferals come here for water but other than that they don't seem all that interested. There isn't enough big game around here to make that T rex stick around for anything other than a drink." Moriko gestured for the stranger to follow her to herbivore troughs she'd found and had kept full as a bait of sorts to draw anything her raptors could hunt in. There were enchenadon drinking greedily but since they were so small Moriko easily counteracted them by putting a few buckets of water in and throwing more water onto plants.

Her raptors were keeping watch for anything too big for them to scare off from a concealed position. "These aren't my herbivores but since my place is the only spot with water and enough foilage to keep them around they stay... Had some sauropods lay eggs here and I am hoping they'll grow enough to provide some meat later... All I ask is that you water any plants you see and help me dig where I point it out... The thing I'm looking for was buried to begin with... All I have is an old map and some charcol from a fire to draw on it with... I also want you to talk to me. I don't care if you just cuss me out just talk alright?"

Mavier let out a stream of swear words as soon as she realozed that she had been spotted. This... This was the worst case scenario.

But the stranger was kimd, and if nothing else, well, there was always strength in numbers.

The small teen followed at a fairly long distance, listening quietly andbkeeping her location known, but also keeping mostly hidden behind trees and rocks, and often Red.

This person did seem to be friendnly, but her intentions could still be malocious. Mavier was cautious of this being a trick... And if it did turm out that this stranger meant her harm, Mavier didn't want her to be able to see her protruding ribs, tiny stature, and blood soaked shirt.

Moriko stopped at one of the sauropod nests... It had been raided... There were still fifty eggs left and Moriko hid them as best she could. There was an oviraptor nearby and her raptors looked at the allosaurus. He could bring the thing down with little trouble and feed himself.ツMoriko thought about it for a second and extracted one massive egg then she boiled it with the bucket before offering it to the stranger. "You look hungry... If you are looking for an ulterior motive I have two. I can hopefully get you and that allosaurus to help me dig, and I admit I am suffering the negative effects of isolation... I guess I can risk telling you what I am looking for... My cellar it has crop seeds in it, massive amounts of food, more water, medical supplies, and a few generators that run on wind and solar energy... Telling others about this means raiders might show up... They've passed through watering their raptors. I hide from them and the one time I was caught it was clear all I had was water and I wasn't making any move to resist so they just watered their dinosaurs and took what they could before leaving me alone..." Moriko went back to digging... "Based on the map locations of my wellsツand the height marks I put in that one tree where I was measuring how tall my first raptor was growing, this might be the spot where my house used to be... There's an updated map in there and it should lead us to the cellar... I have a plan to deal with the raiders... But first I need to know where my key supplies are. My house was air tight and I was waiting out the storm with these three... Might have running water..."

Mavier sat about ten feet away from the stranger, trying to both keep an eye on her and also watch Red and Trudge go after the Oviraptor.

Red chased it over a hill, which Trudge tripped on. That was trudge... All the spectacular majesty of a brick.

She turned her gaze to the stranger. The egg... It couldn't be poisoned, could it? She'd watched the lady boil it, and hadn't noticed anything suspicious.

Mavier took the egg slowly, and then after a moment, set it down gently and took her pack off, looking inside and rummaging for a moment.ツ

Two seashells and a twisted stick fell out, and then she pulled out an unopened pack of dried beef, silently holding it out to the stranger.

Moriko took some of the beef and said "I forgot to introduce myself... I'm Moriko... I didn't poison that egg... Don't throw away the shells we can grind those up for calcium... If you don't have enough of that your heart can stop and your bones become weak..." She looked around and said "We'd better head in that feral rex comes by after dark for a drink. I have a tent that is well hidden and I dug a den forツfor myツthree under the tree so it wouldn't collapse... I don't know what your allosaurus should do... I mean I have some cover around here... But is it enough for him to hide? Your smaller raptors should be able to hide in the den too... I could try to dig out my barn but I won't get it done in time for him to hide..." Moriko didn't know what to do...

"We're fine. We don't need shelter."

Mavier rolled the bag back up and placed it in her pack, throwing the fallen shells and stick back in as well.

"...My name's Mavier. The Allo's Red. Balaur's Trudge. Archy... Lanner. Dunno where he is."

It wasn't like her to talk much. She was alarmed to see a small smear of blood on Moriko's hand.ツ

It must... Mavier had probably gotten blood on the bag of beef. It must have gotten on Moriko when she'd touched the bag.

It was nothing short of a miracle that the lady hadn't noticed it plastered to Mavier's shirt already. Hopefully she would pass the smudge on her hand off as well...

...Oh.

Mavier took a cautious glance at her wound again, and gasped quietly in suprise.

What had previously been dried blood was now wet again, dripping down her chest and baking beads in the dust.

Had the wound come open again... ?!

She had to get out of there before Moriki noticed.

Moriko did notice the blood and started boiling water and rags to bandage it. "Should have told me you were wounded... I could have made a bandage sooner... I found the clothes shop and managed to get fabric for bandages... The lady there apparently managed to flee during the storm and her shop hadn't been raided..." Moriko had been using the clothes as bedding and tried to find clean clothes for this girl saying "I'm surprised something hasn't tried to pick you off leaking blood... I'm not a doctor..." Moriko handed the girl clothes, and a rag to wash her wounds... "We'll have to burn those or put them somewhere before the scent attracts something nasty..." Moriko looked away from the girl to let her change...

People have been... Refined. They live in houses and go to parties, and are civilized.ツ

Some people, however, never really take to it. The feral, snarling thing inside of them never really leaves, it just lies dormant untill it's host needs it.

Instinct.

And ohhh boy, was she feeling it now.

Every fiber of her being screamed at her to run. She was injured, and this injury had been noticed. She had to run. She didn't have the strength to fight, her allies were nowhere to be seen.

Instinct screamed at her to just get the heck out of there, but something else held her back.

Mavier stood ridgidly still in fear and confusion.

Moriko sighed and said "Just get that cleaned up before it gets infected..." She took another rag and started washing her face exposing a gaunt face. She was starving herself. Moriko was confused and said "If you decide to just leave don't tell anyone about the cellar..." She washed herself as best she could. This girl had instincts and so did she... There was blood and she had to hide her scent. It was a clear attempt to hide herself from something bigger and meaner... The sun was starting to set and she was worried the smell of blood would attract the rex. "We have to hide the scent of blood so hurry up wash that, bandage it, and put on some fresh clothes... You don't strike me as someone who likes to be touched so I won't do it for you unless you pass out and I have no choice."

Mavier frowned, but turned around and put the shirt on anyway. Of nothing else, Moriko had been correct about the blood. Mavier had been safe from the rex because the thing was starving, and her own dino's were fairly well fed.

Still, there were more people here, and the more desperate that thing got, the more bold it was likely to get. Red and Trudge may be able to fend it off, but not for long and not without some serious damage.

"...A'rite."

She mumbled, giving Moriko the okay to look. The shirt fit nicely, and by some strange coincidence was almost exactly lile her other one.

Mavier was glad that Moriko didn't ask how she'd gotten woumded in the first place.

Moriko got inside the tent and offered half the clothes as a bed. She had burned the bloody clothes and had made sure the water was full to the brim. She commented "The only good things about the rex are is the thing is punctual and it scares just about everything else off. I haven't seen a single raider since it showed up..." She sighed and said quietlyツ"I think it's a younger female but I haven't exactly been able to check... Part of me is worried that a male will show up... I remember my neighbor who bred rexes complained that males got hyper territorial when there were females were in season. They could not introduce another adult rex into the pack when a female is in season... Don't even get me started on seperating them..." She thought for a moment and peeked out. "I think it's my neighbor's favorite rex that keeps coming by. She used to stalk my herbivores through the fence... So she'd know there was water here... I am not going to try to make friendly..." Moriko curled up on her makeshift bed saying goodnight.
From outside, quick loud footsteps can be heard. Within a few quick seconds a calling from a Deinonychus could be heard. The footsteps sound as if they are moving away. A few moments later a man approaches on top of a Ankylosaurus appears with two Deinonychus on each side. The deinonychus with studded leather armor begins to rush, however, the man yells at him to halt. The man asks with a curious voice, "Who is there?" He continues saying, "My boy, Evander, gave me the response that he would give as if there was a human." The man begins to walk closer with his hands holding on to his staff.

History

The island of Exhibited was a thriving place filled with farmers and dinosaurs alike.

That is, untill a huge, freak dust storm lsting a week blasted the place flat.

Dinosaurs lay dead in their enclosures. Previously bustling farms have now been abandoned, leaving almost the entire island eerily quiet.テ窶堙つ

That's not to say the island is completely dead. After all, you're still alive! And so are three of your dinosaurs!

But you aren't the only one out there. No, there's bandits looking to cause trouble. Dinosaurs that survived have escaped and gone feral.

And there's something looming in the distance. An enemy that nearly wiped us out long ago is back - And it's stronger than ever.

Rules

1) No superpowers. You can be reasonably skilled, but nothing too over the top or supernatural.

2) You play as a human. Up to three dinosaurs of any species avalible on EX may accompany you. Keep in mind they will likely be malnourished and weak due to the lack of food and water.テ窶堙つ

3) Carnivores can be a bit smarter than dogs. We'll say that they can be trained and may have a very basic undersanding of human speech, but they can't talk or use human technology. Herbivores should be considerably less intelligent than this, comparable to horses.

4) No killing other player's characters without permission. One human character per person.

5) You can have reasonable supplies. A couple of knives, a packpack and a water filter, the like, but be reasonable about it. You were forced to abandon your farm in a short amount of time and would only have had time to grab a few supplies, and since you have to travel constantly in search of food and water you have to travel somewhat light. Be realistic.テつ

Please describe the dinosaurs your character travels with, the supplies they carry, and a little of your farm's history in your character profile.

Have fun with this one, guys.テ窶堙つ
