Ukani stepped around the treachorous pit of ice that had just nearly broke underneath him and plunged his firepit and the mountain goat he had just been about to eat into the frozen depths. The demigod sighed and stepped a few more feet away from the slippery hole, caution in his every step. He knew he was too high up in the mountains to be near a village, not that the humans would give him any food anyways. Word had quickly spread through the encampments of a mysterious ice spirit with crystal white hair that came into the towns at night in search of food. It was said that he would eat little children if they were bad.
Ukani sighed. As if he didnt have bad enough luck in general, having no home and all, but becoming a living superstition was rather embarassing. It was then he made a descision.
"I will leave this land of ice and make my own path no matter what, though my resolve may waver or my body will break, my spirit will live on." He finally skirted around the ice hole and found himself standing in front of an intimidating pine forest. Ukani felt hairs prickling on the back of his neck. He had never liked forests that much. Too many shadows for creatures to hide in and just too much life in general. He prefered the wide ice plains or the frozen foothills of a mountain, where everything was clear and bright with less life and he felt completely at home.
The demigod had heard quite a few rumors about the land of fire, as he called it in his head, including the stories of the great tree and the kindness of the people who lived there. Though Ukani had made up his mind, he felt a great sadness in leaving the land he had grown up in. He almost stopped there but something inside him told him to let go of the past and move on to the future. He could feel cold snow on his back as he trudged through the frozen forest. For the first time in his life, Ukani felt cold. But it wasn't the kind of physical cold; he could feel his soul weeping.
The demigod turned around one last time to look at the icy flakes. It hadn't snowed in a month, but he knew why it was snowing now.
Â
The ice was whispering farewell.
Ukani watched the sun rise as he approached the distant village. The young traveler had mostly walked by night, as when he walked in the day, he soon found out after entering the land of fire, he would get dizzy from the warm rays and would be forced to sit in the shade for hours with a migraine. At least there was frost at night and sunset.
So far, Ukani's favorite time of day was sunset. The sky turned the same dreamy pink-gold dreamscape of clouds like up in the mountains and the sun was less warm, so rays of light beamed off the icy frost and into the fog, which reminded Ukani, rather sadly, of the land of ice. But he had already left those memories behind, and he knew there was no turning back.
Ukani approached a small hut and noticed puffs of smoke puffing merrily out of the chimney. He almost sighed in relief. Although he was terrible with humans, and though people didn't really like him, the demigod had barely slept the night before and he hadn't eaten for two days. Above all that, he was exhausted as well as emotionally drained. He didn't doubt that if whoever lived there kicked him out, then he would most likely die slowly.
Feeling a little more energetic, he jogged up to the shack. The door was no more than a splintered board leaning on the gray stones. Peasents, he guessed. Feeling a little self concious, Ukani raised his arm to knock on the door, when the wood was suddenly pulled aside and he found himself face to face with a startled-looking girl.
She looked around his age, and was incredibly pretty, though she would have been even more if not for the dusty grime covering her body. Her large green eyes blinked up at him innocently. Although he had never known it, Ukani was quite tall for his age; the girl's brunnete ponytail brushed up to his collarbone. They both were frozen for a couple of moments.
"Marina! What's taking you so long?! Hurry up and get out of the doorway!" A harsh voice echoed out of the dark house.
The girl named Marina unfroze and called over her shoulder. "Papa, there's a strange young man at the front door! What should I do?"
"WHAAAAAT?!!!" An old, wrinkly man with a gnarled cane came running to the front door, leading a few skinny goats behind him. "Who are you? Did Marina invite you in?! You stupid girl, I told you not to talk to strangers!"
"No, papa I opened the door and he was standing there."
Ukani cleared his throat, letting them know he was still there. "I'm Ukani." He muttered quietly.
The old man scowled at him. "What, boy? Speak up! You youngsters these days, always trying to make fun of an old man's lack of hearing..."
Ukani was surprised. Normally, humans would shun him or run away. The most common case was flaming torches and pitchforks. All because of his hair color.
"I'm Ukani! You-Can-Aye!" He said, with possibly the loudest tone he had ever made aloud, which wasn't very loud. He was startled by himself, actually. He but a hand to his lips, shocked.Â
Marina looked concerened and sympathetic. "You don't talk much, do you?" She said softly, guessing Ukani's thoughts. He shook his head and then blushed as his stomach suddenly grumbled loudly.
"I guess we can spare some food, it's been a great harvest, right Papa?" The old man just grumbled to himself and pushed past the couple to the crops, the goats trailing behind him.

After a hearty meal of watery soup and bread, Ukani started talking to Marina about his travels and life, and she in turn talked to him about the village. The cottage was cramped and stinky, but Ukani found himself warming up to the kind young peasent and for the first time in his life, he was opening up to someone.
"Oh, there's also rumors of this nice guardian that lives there and protects the villagers, a dragon called Shadow or something, but I don't really know because I've never seen it myself, and dragons don't usually like humans... Anyways, they say if you come into the village with out invitation, that it will see you as a threat and kill you. That's why only Paps goes to the village, 'cause he was born there and is allowed to go there occasionally. But mostly we stay here to look after our animals and the crops."
Ukani was interested. In the Land of Ice he had never heard of a magical guardian protecting the encampments. The only security they had there was pet dogs and pitchforks.
"That sounds interesting. How do you get an invitation, though? They have to let people in at least sometimes."
"Well, I hope this is true, but apparently you have to go around the village until you reach their den, and then ask to go inside. Anyways, a true fact is that once a magical creature claims its territory, than you have to ask them to go inside. There's actually a magical law that guards the boundaries. Suposedly, something terrible will happen if you break that law."
Ukani wanted to visit the only village he had seen yet in the land of fire. He had never met another intelligent magical being like himself before, so he was interested in meeting this magical so-called 'guardian'. It may be hard, but so far Marina had turned out alright and the demigod wanted to see if the other villagers were like her too.
"Can you take me to her?" He asked.
Marina nodded solemly.Â
Â
Ukani noticed a villager walking with his dog outside the village. Marina suddenly ran over to talk to him. After a few moments she came back. "The man said that the law is only for mythical creatures here." She puffed a little grumpily. "and all this time Papa told me that the guardian would kill me without an invitation!" she scowled. "But then again, I can finally see the village! I'm so excited. The man also said the other day they saw a nomad and a troll!"
Ukani realized how little he had learned of the outside world from living in the mountains before. He had only once seen a nomad before, and that was a great hulking ice man that had devoured several houses as he watched from a distance. He had been only eight when it happened. He hoped the nomads here were different, or else he would be in trouble.
He heard a gurgling noise and jumped in alarm, then blushed when he realized his stomach was complaining. "You're pretty hungry, huh?" Marina grinned.Â
"Uh, yeah." Ukani replied, glaring at his stomach. They entered the village.
Dubluu was walking through the woods during the night when he noticed the lights of a village. Slowly and awkwardly, the Trickster God descened upon the village hoping for some opportunities for pranks as well as some food. When Dubluu finally got the village he heard footsteps and noticed a troll and a boar coming out of a barn. Bingo!
Dubluu quickily set forth a plan. He drank a potion from his satchel and turned into a wolf. The Trickster God then gave out a demonic howl as to startle both the troll and the villagers in hope for them to bump into each other in search of the wolf.
The Grandmother of all thought over the laws of territory.
The first law was that Nomads were free to go where they pleased unharmed but the territory owner could impose rules should they linger for too long.
The second law stated that one could come by territory by four ways: killing the prior owner, inherritance, as a gift, or by finding a territory with no owner.
The third law was that tresspassers could be attacked on sight as could rouge anythings. However guests were to be granted hospitality.
The fourth law all demigods and main gods were to be treated as nomads.
The fifth and final law was that her tree was neutral territory. All creatures could come to her to discuss their problems, resolve their grivences, or just be sociable. Anyone who deliberately shed blood at her tree was cursed to suffer until the end of their days, nothing would go their way, and great misfourtune would follow them wherever they went,
Ukani heard an eerie howl in the distance he jumped and dropped the bun he had been eating. He looked over at Marina and saw her eyes were wide with alarm. "Th-that's near our house..." She whispered, frozen in horror. Ukani grabbed her by the shoulders and looked her straight in the eyes.
"Everything is going to be ok. I'm going to check on your father, alright? If you hear any other dangers nearbye, then follow all the other villagers. If there really is a dragon guarding this village, then it should protect you. I promise I'll make sure your father is safe. He might not even be in danger, OK?" He said gently. Marina nodded shakily and sat down nearbye. The other villagers looked up, but none of them panicked. For all they thoguht, it was just a wolf in the distance. But Ukani knew that sound; he had heard it many times in the wild northern taigas in the land of ice; it was the sound of a werewolf. And not just any werewolf, if his ears were correct, it was the howl of a rogue werewolf. If it was within a kilometer of anything, including Marina's father, then it was most likely going to be dead in a few minutes; its sense of smell was unbelievably strong and it would eat almost anything, including its own kind.Â
Ukani knew he would not make it in time by just running. As soon as he made it out of the village, he pulled his scythe out from behind his cloak and let it unleash the power of ice. A smooth, ridged slide appeared above him, with an icy ladder to climb up on it. Ukani quickly scaled it and slipped into the frozen tunnel. He flew at break neck speed on his back down the slide. The landscape blurred, and withing thirty seconds he popped out of the tunnel onto the ground in front of Marina's house. In the distance, he could see a monstrous shape running at attack pace.
It was going straight for Marina's house, and her father was inside.
A central temperate forest with a sea to the east, plains to the west, a dormant volcano to the south that fire creatures keep dormant by feeding on the heat from time to time, and cold mountains to the north where the creatures of ice tend to dwell during the hot summer months. Small villages and encampments cover the land.
This is a world of magical beings and tribal man who lives by hunting and gathering or farming, the primitive gods walk among man and beast. You can be a mythical beast, a village leader, or even a primitive god. The humans may or may not have mystical powers of their own. This is our world. What will you do with your power?
Peace has reigned for a long time here it is a quiet clean place to live. Some would call it paradise, but there are inter human conflicts growing and the gods are getting involved. Some places remain peaceful under powerful guardians however.
Keep it PG 13.
Certain creatures are more solitary than others like dragons but some do live in family groups. Territorial boundaries can be crossed at the Rper's peril.
If someone enters your territory without permission that is grounds for a fight unless the territory owner doesn't care or is friendly with you. The exception is nomads they can go wherever they please.
If you do get into a fight in the RP winner will be decided by agreement, mediated by me or the submaster on the OOC chat.
All creature characters must have at least one element, up to four. Fire, earth, water, wind, shadow, light, ice, plants, metal, or lightning. If you have opposing elements your affinity with one must be stronger than the other.
The ability to heal others may not extend to reviving the dead unless you're the god of life or of death.
You can not be all knowing, divination and mind reading however are valid ways of acquiring information.
we can't all be gods in fact there can only be four main gods. Life, death, chief, and trickster. Demi or lesser gods must be half something else and not as powerful as a god.
characters can be killed with permission with exception to pure gods
if you forget to state your element or forgot one in your character description you must role play it out, this is also how new elements can be aquired but it cannot exceed four elements
