I opened my eyes and looked around, daring not to sit up. I could see the sun shining through the cracks of the destroyed house. I tried to sit up, but I collapsed and fell to the ground again. Ugh! That hurt. Stupid gravity. I stood up again, getting my balance. I grabbed the nearest thing sticking up out of the ground, which happened to be a sharp, broken pipe. "Ah!" I yelled as I held my bloody hand to my chest to keep it from bleeding.
Where was I? How did I get here? What happened again? What was my name? I shook my head. I knew all of those answers: Home, I live here, the bombings, and Maggie Tylar. I stumbled to get my balance and started to slowly make my way out into the bright sunlight.
I blinked as the hot sunlight burned my eyes slightly. I looked around and breathed. Everything was different. All the houses were flattened, the grass was burnt, most of the animals were either gone or dead, but the forest seemed strangely untouched. I Wondered why that was. I suddenly saw something moving near the forest. I squinted, straining my recently rediscovered eyesight to see what the heck was over there. I saw it. It was some kind of weird, deformed creature. It's skin looked red, bloody, and raw- and it was huge! I gasped as it looked right at me. My legs collapsed again and I rested against the destroyed building, trying to get my breath. What was that thing?!
