Carlos continued behind everyone. He didn't want to get in the way of everyone. He studied the whistle the mermaid gave him. I wonder what would happen if I blew it. He though, as they walked deeper and deeper into the forest. All of a sudden, they heard a noise. It sounded like footsteps, in the trees? Carlos walked closer to Esmerelda. He, for some reason, felt safer around her. They heard more sounds, and shadows in the trees. Esmerelda drew her sword. She looked behind her, and half the men were gone! "What the-" She grabbed Carlos and held him near, so whatever took the men, didn't take him.
Liberty stared into the trees above them, trying to figure out what the strange noises were. "Grrrr I hate unknown noises!" liberty thought to himself. The more he thought, the angrier he got. The stupid sailors had been what ticked him off the most though, which was why he had been yelling and swearing at them in parrot language. "how do these silly humans survive so long?!" He grumbled under his breath. "They can't even tell if water is poisonous or not!" liberty decided to release some of his anger by flying to a nearby branch and do his best imitation of a screaming cockatoo. Esmerelda yelled for him to shut up, and liberty quickly complied. Had it been one of the other sailors, he would have totally ignored them. Esmerelda was smart, and he knew it. That was part of the reason why she was one of his favorite people. Liberty decided to go investigate the tree tops.
Sage followed the ship all the way to land. But still their was no sight of the other mermaid. They had snuck past the beast that was finished devouring the ship. But Sage knew that when they were miles away, he had followed. But luckily they made it to shore and the beast was waiting in the deeper ends of the water. Sage rested her upper half on the sand and her tail was in the water. She tapped her tail in and out of the water making small splashes. Until she heard many men scream. She looked over in Esmereldas direction and noticed how the only two people there were Carlos and Esmerelda.
Tamber was still in shock, She was walking slowly behind the rest of the crew, no knowing what to do. She heard the sounds coming from deep in the forest, then she saw esmerelda and carlos on the a little farther up, tamber drew her sword, and ran as fast as she could to meet them. The sounds were getting louder, louder, louder. Tamber walked up Behind Carlos, and saw he was a bit nevous, she put her hand on his shoulder, telling him it was all right. She turned to Esmerelda, "Whats going on?!" She looked to where half the men used to be, and a splater of blood was sitting there. Tamber walked up to it. "What are we going to do?!"
"Natives," Was the only word she said. She held her sword close to her, and knelt close to the ground. She picked up a small glob of mud, and smeared it on her face, hands, and neck. She made a sign to tell them to do it too. A small, dark man with skeletal markings on his body arose from the bushes, holding a peculiar staff with a skull on the top. The skull had some sort of blue fire pouring out of the eyes, nose, and mouth. They crouched to the ground and saw the man was talking to someone. Soon more people arose from the bushed and they could see them drag the men who had disappeared away. They were unconscious, and had a dart sticking out of their necks. Esmerelda continued to stay crouched with the others until they could no longer see the men.
Carlos was confused. He didn't know what to do. He sat there, humming quietly to himself. He saw a yellow flash of something dart by him. He turned around and saw it was a small bird. He stared at it for awhile. After her grew tired of this, he turned around to see that he was alone. "Guy's, where did you go!?" He looked around, staying in one spot. He curled up into a little ball. He was scared, wet, tired, and a little bit hungry. He heard chanting from a ways away. He stood up, quietly and carefully, And saw some lights in the distance. It was starting to get dark, and he was getting very cold. He though that might be them. He walked for awhile, and rested. Then he continues walking and stumbled upon a village of the strange little people. He hid in the bushes. He saw the men carrying some people tied to a stick. One was Esmerelda, the others, he wasn't sure. He didn't know what to do.
Jahk strode out of a village hut, the lizard skull atop his stick flaming from the scent of fresh blood.  One of the aprentices had already cut a strung un unconcious pirate (at this point they were all unconcious) pirate, the perfect specimen to please their ancestor's spirits.  Jahk walked right up to the female pirate, who was adorned with filthy amounts of wealth, almost her entire person covered with gold.  Jahk removed most of this, so she could more easily be communed to the spirit world.  He draped a necklace of crocodile teeth over her neck, and, to silence the constant chanting from nearly the entire village, raised his hand and gestured to the croud.  His first command was "Awaken the first sacrafice!"  The pirate was awakened with a harsh slap to the face, dispelling the light sleepign agent.  Atop a large rock,  Jahk shouted in a voice that seemed to loud for a person of his size, "Bring me the silver goblet!" and a servant did.  He let the dripping blood from the long cuts on the pirates arm fill the goblet, while ignoring her screams.  Then, he put the goblet in front of a fat, old marine iguana.  The iguana lapped it up, obviously having done this before.  After that, he shouted in his own language, and bassically told his servants to throw the pirate into the volcanoe, to calm their acestors, now that they new she was coming.
Tamber woke with a start. After she saw the Natives, she got scared and bolted, jumping into the water and falling asleep. She ran back to where she had last seen the crew. They were gone. She saw some blood, and foot prints of someone only a little younger then her. It was Carlos. She followed the footprints, running as fast as she could. She then saw a Native VIllage a little farther ahead, and there was the rest of the crew, caught by natives. Tamber ducked beneith a bush, and next her, she saw Carlos. Her eyes got wide. "How did you escape?"

Carlos looked at her. "They never captured me." He looked toward the village again and cringed at the sound of Esmerelda's screaming. "We have to help them!" He soon realized something. He still had the necklace Sage had given him! He held it close, then held it to his lips. He took in a deep breath, praying that she would come. He blew. The sound rang out like a mighty bell in a church. He tucked it back into his shirt, and sat on the ground, hoping she would answer the call. They watched at the rest of the crew were torchered in the name of the peoples' gods.
Jahk nodded towards the torturing of the rest of the pirates, as they were not the enitial sacrifice, and as much pain as possible would be needed to contact the other world.  He followed his servants, (who had esmerelda) up the volcanoe, along with a small croud of ordinary villagers.  When the reached the top, Jahk climbed up onto the highest ledge, and began the ritual.  He shouted in the sacred language, the words echoing across a large distance.  He performed complex and wild gestures with his hands, while the crowd of villagers chanted.  Then, he was suddenly silent, and he turned towards the volcano, raising his staff.  The lizard skull began to cackle, and blue fire poured out and into the volcano.  his servants were about to throw esmerelda into the volcano when...
She gathered all of her strength, and kicked the man as hard as she could in the face. He dropped her, screaming in pain. The man yelled something she could not understand, and they all started running after her. She ran screaming down to the beach. (deja vou! XD) She noticed that she was followed by the remainder of her crew and Carlos. She made a sharp stop and pulled out her sword, that hit one of the savage men, killing him. Carlos joined and took out his small knife. She attacked the men with it, only giving them a few scrapes.
TAmber started fighting beside Esmerelda. "You ok?" She asked over the Clash of meatle against Metal. She Jumped over a mans sword and stabbed him in the neck. Then, she saw a low, overhangging Tree. She Snuck away silently and tested the trees flexability. It was perfect, she grabbed some vines and tied them together, then cut some Wood from the tree, and made a quick bow and arrow. She saw Carlos fighting with a small knife, and that the Man was going to make quick work of him. Just as the Man was about to kill Carlos, Tamber shot the arrow and hit him. But, she didn't notice the Man behind her, she was running up to Carlos, when the man slashed her arm, leg and stabbed her in the shoulder. She turnned around and killed him. The Pain was over whelming. TAmber fell over, and the last thing she saw before she blacked out, was esmerelda winning the fight, the natives were surrendering.
Esmerelda yelled in victory. The savages had surendered and ran back to their small village, but one remained: the cheif. She had captured the chaif of the people, so they wouold not come back to kill them. She noticed Tamber lying on the floor. She ran over to her and tore a peice of cloth from her coat to tie around Tamber's wounds. "Get some fresh water and some cloth!" Esmerelda yelled. Tamber awoke. Esmerelda was supporting her neck with her arms. "It's all right. You're going to be just fine..." Esmerelda smiled, but a tear ran down her face.
Liberty hovered around Esmerelda, looking bored. He never did like medical injuries.....Apparently he wasn't allowed to attack the person's face or eat their fingers, and that annoyed him. Finally he gave up and flew a little ways into the forest. He found some fresh fruit hanging from a tree and began to rip into it hungerly. Pirate ships usually didn't seem to have much fruit around...He usually just ate whatever was laying around, including dead things.... He was too busy eating to notice the native sneaking up behind him. The person attempted to grab Liberty and ended up nearly losing a finger. He screamed in pain and Liberty flew off the branch in a rage. He didn't fly away like he should have, but flew in circles around the person's face, ripping and biting fiercly. Doom to any person that tried to even touch him! That was Liberty's motto at the moment. Suddenly crashing and yelling was heard. More people were coming! Liberty couldn't tell if they were "his" people or not....
Unknown to the pirates, Jahk had pretended to be the cheif.  Unliike pirates, the natives never let there leading officers to be exposed to danger; the cheif was currently alone in an underground chamber they dug, told of events by the seemingly random stompings of avergae villagers above, and given light by harmless captive insects, which were fed thrice a week.  Being a shaman, he had no fear of death.  If he lived, he would wait to show his power untill on their ship, where he hoped the ancestors would be pleased enought o summon him a lightning storm.  Being a high-native, of obvious social status, it was surprisingly easy to pose as cheif.  Of course, the others still wouldn't attack, as the pirates had a demon-bird, which would eat even holy-lizards.  A few stupid (but nontheless brave) ones would try to capture and kill the infernal bird, but Jahk knew better.
