Sage brushed her hair with a rugged sea-shell and dipped her tail into the shallow warm water near the shore. She was sitting on a bony rock and eating clams. Her sisters were long gone on their journey to the Caribbean while she was stuck here far away in london. She would join her sisters and species one day, but for now, she was enjoying the life here with plenty of sailors to adore and then kill. Although her ancestors had told her of the Caribbean being full with ten times as many sailors. But pirates they were. Fifty on one large boat, it was like an endless buffet of food and love. But the one that sings her favorite song so beautifully will be her true love. Now, it was time for them to figure out was her song was, and how she was to always sing it. Sage snapped out of her imagination and quickly leaped into the water as she noticed how people had been arriving at the beach further ahead shore. She quickly flipped her tail and swam cautiously under the silent waves. The rippling of water above her. She turned around as if to smile to her sisters, but realized they were no longer there. That is when she got the intinct to travel to the place every mermaid had gone. The Caribbean.

10 DAYS LATER

Sage gasped for water as her head bobbed above the waves. She had been holding her breath for a few hours and always needed a breath of fresh air once her gills started to hurt. She swam slowly to the beach and layed down in the warm sand that had been in perfect light of the Sun, with no trees to lay a centimeter of shade on the quiet area. But then a low pitched squealish sound was ringing Sage's ears. She had whispered to herself: 'PIRATES'

Tamber Sat apon Esmerelda's Ship. And Whatched the sea bob up and down. She closed her eyes and breathed in, then out. Tamber stood up as she saw the head of mermaids bob in near by sea. Cautiously, she looked around, no one was out, she wrote a note saying that she was going fishing. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she jumped into the water and felt the change happen, she looked around for fish. None in sight. Tamber swam down deep, then off thinking that deeper sea would hold more promises. She swam as fast as she could for 5 minutes, then saw a beautiful school of tropical fish, and it was the crew favorite type! She quickly grabbed some, then slowly drifted back to the ship.
"Steady as she goes!" Esmerelda ordered as they approached an island. She walked over to a sailor. "What are you doing!?" he looked at her "I'm tying a knot." Esmerelda looked at him. "That's not how you tie a knot! Give it here!" She took the rope and tied a knot, then untied it. "Now you do it!" She walked away, her high-heeled boots making a tapping sound on the wooden deck. She went over to steer the ship when she found a person she did not recognize from her crew. "Who are you!?" The boy shrugged. He was only about twelve or thirteen. She glared at him. He managed to stutter a few words,"I-I'm C-Carlos." Esmerelda looked at him. "How did you get on my ship?" "I c-climbed ab-board." She took the boy by the hand and led him below deck. "This is no place for a child. Now, i suggest you go back to where you came from or else!" The boy looked scared. Esmerelda softened her eyes. "Well, You can get off at the next island. I don't want a child like you getting in the way of things, understand!" He nodded.
Liberty flew sat on the edge of the crow's nest, in a half-doze. He knew he should be scouting for oncoming ships, but he didn't feel like flying right now. He heard Esmerelda yelling, and shook himself awake. Yelling sometimes meant fighting, and fighting usually ended with....death. Liberty flew to Esmerelda's shoulder, but only briefly. He could sense her stress, and didn't want to be around at the moment.... He flew a little ways over the ocean and saw the mermaids floating just below the surface. "Disturbing little things...." Liberty flew down for a closer look at the hideos half-fish creature.
Uh oh! They all woke up, what am I todo? Tamber thought as she swam fast towards the boat. She saw an open window, which she knew to lead to her room. Carefully, she jumped in, hauling the fish in after her. Drying off, she was happy her clothes were just on automaticly. She burst out the doors, the fish slung over the shoulder. "Morrining Everyone!" Tamber said as she dropped the fish at the cooks door. "Morrning Tammi!" She waltz over to the deck and decided to look out to sea. The mermaids looked closer now, and she tried to lure them away by making the ship seem 'already taken' by moaning the calls of a victorious mermaid.

Esmerelda walked up tp the main deck. She was very stressed today. She looked over the starboard (right) side of the ship and saw a pack of mermaids. One was looking at her. That startled her when she noticed it. The mermaid looked at her in a strange way. But, she noticed that the mermaid was really staring at the boy who was humming. She walked over there and grabbed the boy's shoulder. "Do you know what you're doing boy!?" He looked confused. "Those mermaids love to eat people! And they are drawn to singing! So shut up, ande keep quiet!" SHe turned around and began staring at the mermaid again, clutching her pistol. The boy made a face behind her back, but was caught by another crew member. He slapped the boy's back and told him," Hey! You best be not makin' faces at the captain!" "She's the captain!" her looked confused. "But she's a g-" "Yes We all know she's a woman! But a mighty fine captain. But, if she finds you makin' faces at her, she will feed you to them mermaids!" He pointed over the ship.

Tamber saw the comotion on the deck, she ran up to check it out. She saw esmerelda holding a Pistol up to a mermaid. She walked up to her and the boy. "ms. Esmerelda, mermaid trouble again?" She looked down at the mermaid and started yelling at it. "GET OUTTA HERE YOU PEICE O' FISH MEAT!!!" The mermaid ignored her completeiy. "Oh, Thanks alot!" She stomped over closer to the mermaid and made up a lie, "Um, Esmerelda, some one fell over board!" Then, she pushed the boy over board. When Esmerelda was distracted Tamber started mermaid talking to the mermaid, 'what do you want?"
Sage leaped into the water and swam behing the boat of pirates, waiting for one in air jumping reach. But she had been drawn to something else. Singing, there was a young boy humming a catchy tune. Although Sage frowned when it was not her song. 'Wrong One' Sage thought to herself. Then she saw a tall women leaning over the boat with a pistol in her hand. Sage hissed. But then Sage's focus went to a girl who had been familiar. "Is that a mermaid?" Sage said to herself. She ignored the mermaid looking girl and focused back to the women who had been ocuppied by a man overboard. Then a voice rang through the waters, it almost sounded human, but mermaids had a special talk, it sounded like human but it was actually a type of chime that passed through water clearly. Humans could communicate with mermaids if only they knew how to talk mermaid. Add an "ah" at the end of everyone word you say. Sage then replied to the girl: I was lured in by that boy's humming. Now go and tell that women to never threaten me again or else I'll chew her piece by piece. Man or Women.
Liberty had flown a little too close the strange fish-person, and had gotten wet. Now he was angry, and wanted to vent his anger on some poor unsuspecting person...."the strange boy seemed to be a good target..." Liberty thought to himself. He flew up to the ship, but the strange boy was nowhere to be found. However there seemed to be a fight going on, between the mermaids and the people.... Liberty grinned evilly and soared down quickly. Before the ugly mermaid could react, he had left a large gash across her face, nearly blinding her... The mermaid screamed angerly, but Liberty flew far out of range, laughing to himself.
Sage saw an annoying bird flying around above her. She had a short temper and leaped into the air with fangs extended trying to grip onto the birds flesh. She failed and landed hard on the ship deck. Pirates were cautiously walking over to the scene and examining her, they touched her hair and tail and every part of her body. She covered her breast and hissed at the pirates. Some of them leaned back slightly. Her red hair turned to a brown and began to slowly grow into a wavy form. Her eyes were now turning into a dark brown, showing that she was mad. She looked at everyone frightened. Her purple tail still flipping on the deck. Sage gasped for water. S-someone!
Carlos climbed onto the ship from the water. He was soaking wet, and scraped up a little. He saw the crew crowd around the edge of the ship, they were dodgeing ducking and yelling. Carlos ran to get a better look, but he couldn't get past all the large men. So, he climbed up the crow's nest and onto a rope near the scene. He climbed down it and saw that they were gathering around a mermaid. He knew what he had to do. He snuck off of the ship and onto a small dingy and started humming a strage tune he had never sung before. " Hmm, la la, da hmm. La da, tut tut, hmm" is what he sang, hoping to lure the mermaid off of the ship.
Sage's hair dripped over her soldier and she started to look nervous. She hit the men with her tail and managed to be passed and tumbled from the crowd and on to the middle of the boat. She quickly cralwed to the edge and heard a familiar tune. "My Song!" Sage said with such joy. She peered down the edge of the boat and saw the boy. Sage was confused but knew that she was to save herself. The men were getting closer and Sage heard clicking heels on the wooden deck that were getting closer and closer. Sage flung herself over the boat and into the water. She made sure that she was not being followed into the water and she climbed into a small boat next to the humming boy. She did not dare look him in the eye. For she was too embarrassed. She pulled a cloth over her body and shivered. There was a bucket in the boat, and Sage dipped her tail into it, to reassure herself that she was safe. Her hair turned bright red again and her eyes softened into a pink. A very light pink, that meant she was in love. Already.
Carlos startled backwards, almost into the water. He peeped up and saw the mermaid looking at him with a strage, yet nice, look. He felt for his knife, but it was gone. It must have fallen off when he was pushed by that bird! He was afraid, yet not, of the mermaid. It seemed as though she was drawing him in, yest pushing him away. He blushed as he noticed she was just using a cloth to cover herself. He looked away to get a hold of himself. He breathed heavily and his palms began to sweat. Was he in love?
Sage blushed and flipped her tail. She pushed her hair behind her ear and straightened out her mind. She then decided that it would be safe to speak. Who are you? And why are you singing my song? Sage looked up at the sailor. Her eyes met his. And it seemed as if they were both stuck in time. Where not a second passed. Sage then looked over the boat and saw fish. She licked her lips silently and tryed to not make it noticable so the sailor wouldn't get scared. But he knew her song. He meant no harm.
Esmerelda heard the comotion coming from the upper deck. What in the new world is going on up there!? she though, taking a sip from her cup. She got up off her chair in the captain's cabin and saw the men yelling and wistling, while holding their swords in the air. She marched over to the spot and pushed the men out of the way. "What are you idiots doing now!?" She demanded, then looked over the side of the ship. "By Jove, what do we have here?" She looked at Carlos and the mermaid. "Get back up here now, child!" She yelled at Carlos. But, he ignored her, and just stared into the eyes of the beautiful mermaid. Esmerelda was getting frustraited, so she ordered the dingy be dragged up, and the mermaid thrown out.
