Lance moved along with the gifted, carefully watching to make sure he didn't fall. He didn't cause any other sort of problem after stopping, either, which was rather unexpected given his earlier behaviour.

Lance's lips tightened slightly when he detected the gifted's strained syllables. It might have been an indicator that the gifted was becoming unsettled enough to utilize his gift, or he had actually been too rough. It was unlikely the later, however, as Lance was rather confidant he hadn't used more force than necessary.

Talking might be the best option. There was a good chance it would calm the gifted down somewhat.

"Will you cause trouble?" Lance asked in a carefully doctored tone. He was being serious- if carrying the gifted would mean the entire ordeal would go smoother, then so be it. Lance would have to take into consideration the manner, however. With the taser at his back that he needed to keep out of sight as much as possible, it may be impractical to use the fireman's carry that he would have otherwise preferred.

Lucius was impressed with how well and how quickly Lance handled Kadvar. To be honest, his expectations where not very high consetering the othe guards he ended up working with. So at the moment he was easy to impress. "Kadvar, why are you being so defiant all of the sudden? Are you taking ' How to be Disruptive' classes from Alex now?" Lucius said. Kadvar was doing things Alex was known to do. Not only was he trying to fight with whatever object he had around, but he was also refusing to move after being restrained. Lucius glanced over at Alex, who had stood up from his bed the moment Lucius entered the room. He was glaring at him with his typical hateful expression. At least at the moment he wasn't yelling at them or anything. Lucius looked back at Kadvar.

Why was he being disruptive? Did he really need to ask that? He lived in a cell! "You've brought me and Alex back in a gurney three times in a row, I nearly fainted during my last test, and there may or may not be a rat in my cell." He eyed underneath his bed to see two beady eyed staring back at him, "There's definitely a rat in my cell." He couldn't wait until he hopefully escaped.

Kadvar didn't think the guard would take him seriously, but wasn't about to pass up such an offer. "Heck, if you carry me I'll be your best friend," he joked.

Lucius expected that answer, and it was completely logical to respond in the way Kadvar was. Maybe he should tone down the tests for a while to encourage him to return to his slightly annoying, but not dangerous behavior. However that would have to wait until tomorrow since this test Lukus had in mind would only make Kadvar hate him even more. Lucius didn't show any signs of interest in Kadvar's answer until he spoke of a rat. "Really? Someone had a test rat get loose yesterday. Is it a white one?" He asked. It was likely the animal would die soon enough from all the things put in place to keep rodents out. However the person who lost the rat really seemed to want it back.
Lance stayed out of the conversation, his presence easily fading into the background in the heat of the argument. It would have seemed as if he was deaf to the others' words, simply keeping his eyes on the gifted to make sure it didn't act out violently.

Lance nodded in response to the gifted's answer. He wasn't intent on forming close relationships with the test subjects, but he took it as meaning the gifted would be easier to transport if he was carried.

"I will carry you as long as you cooperate," Lance said. His words were chosen to both clearly state the terms and to warn the gifted prior to being moved.

Before the gifted could take advantage of a momentary lapse in attention, Lance bent and hooked an arm behind the gifted's legs, his other securely at the gifted's back, and easily took the older male off of the ground. It wasn't the most ideal carry, but Lance couldn't risk letting the gifted catch sight of the taser and setting things on fire. It would work for the time being.

The gifted securely in his arms, Lance met the scientist's gaze and nodded to signify they were set to go on his call.

"I don't know what the rat looks like! It just lives under my bed. Sometimes at night I wake up hearing it claw at the walls," which was not a very pleasant way to be awoken. Maybe it was trying to dig to freedom, or trying to hide the food it stole.

Kadvar happily let himself be picked up by Lance. Being held with his hands cuffed was a little unsettling though. If he fell he had no way to catch himself, so he reminded himself not to squirm so much as being dropped would be painful. He found himself thankful his hands were cuffed in front of him, as having them behind his back would have been uncomfortable and awkward.

All they were waiting for was Lucius to start moving his lazy legs.

A slight smile could be seen on Lucius' face. He was amused by the sight of Lance actually carrying Kadvar. It was not a typical technique for transporting unrully test subjects, but in the end it didn't really matter as long as they got to their destination without any more trouble.

Lucius opened the door for Lance as it would be quite difficult for him to do it himself. He didn't ask anything more about the rat living in Kadvar's cell. He didn't really care about the animal's well being.

In the hallways they got a few confused looks from others. It wasn't like this was seen every day. If a gifted needed to be carried, it was because they were not conscious, but even then the gifted would have been placed on a gurney.

Lucius also opened the door to the lab for Lance. He did nothing to hide his entertainment in the seen before him.

Lance carried the gifted out of the cell before falling back into step behind the scientist as they set off for a testing lab. The gifted appeared to be compliant, the threat of being dropped onto the ground likely being more than enough incentive to not cause trouble. It didn't seem to be causing the gifted any agitation, either, which could only be a good thing when emotion-induced gifts were involved.

Lance kept his eyes straight ahead the entire walk, keeping close tabs of the areas they passed by. He had studied the lab layout prior to his arrival, but familiarizing the location of the hallways and rooms from the inside were opportunities he wouldn't pass up. Of course, they were all placed as according to the floor plan, but paying attention could only help Lance's mental map.

Soon enough, they arrived at their destination. Lab C-13, Lance noted as he entered. The scientist's amused look Lance didn't miss, either, but he made no comment nor showed any outward signs that he did.

Having taken a good few strides into the laboratory space, Lance set the gifted back onto his feet, making sure to stay between him and the laboratory door. As he waited for the scientist's order, Lance kept a hand on the gifted's back as both an indicator that he was being closely watched and to make sure he didn't run.

"Can you put him in the room please?" Lucius said and he pointed to the usuall room. He then sat down at his desk. He had planned this test before hand, so the computer was already set and ready to go.

This was a test that was on the more dangerous side. Causing damage to a test subject was discouraged and Lucius had made sure that the program wouldn't actually hit him.

This was also a test that needed to be explained. Luckily he shouldn't have any problem with getting Kadvar to cooperate. Judging by his reaction to weapons, he would do what the test required.

Lance nodded to the scientist before guiding the gifted into the aforementioned room. He didn't apply force enough to make the gifted stumble, just a slight pressure to encourage him to go in the correct direction. Based upon the scientist's earlier words back in the cell and the gifted's current behaviour, Lance guessed the gifted was normally rather complacent subject, and rarely acted out. It was likely their first encounter happened to be one of those 'acting out' cases.

Allowing the gifted in before closing the door behind him, Lance retreated to a post situated a bit away from the lab's entrance. He remained within sight and earshot of the scientist, and also in a position where he could both watch for any disturbance and also be ready to act should anything occur. Lance made eye contact with the scientist as a confirmation before turning back to look forward.

Kadvar quickly noticed the looks bystanders were giving them, feeling little shame. He lived in a cell  which stripped away most of his dignity and pride. What did bother him was that Lucius had found some amusement in all of this.

Eventually this had to come to an end and Lance had set him on his feet. The guard had removed his cuffs, closing the door to the testing lab behind him. The gifted rubbed his wrists, trying to warm them after being exposed to the cold cuffs. He shuffled towards the center of the room figuring Lucius and Lance wouldn't want him so close to the door. If there was one thing he didn't want to be punished for, it would have to be something stupid like refusing to move a few feet.

Already upon entering he found himself forgetting which direction the one way window was. Hopefully this wouldn't be as terrible as his last test. He preferred not to have two or more tests done on him. He shifted his chilled wrists under his arms, half expecting Lucius to start the test without warning like last time.

"Mind telling me what we're doing?" He asked, unsure which direction Lucius was.

Kadvar could be pretty powerful if put into the correct circumstances, but even then he seemed to not have a very good aim. The lab's end goal was to use gifteds in wars, so it was important to see how they did in a fight. Lucius was curious is Kadvar would just panic and manage to take out his opponents by sheer luck or if he would react in some other way.

When Kadvar asked to know what was to happen, Lucius was more than happy to grant his request.

"There are going to be machines entering the room." He started to explain. "They are not, well, very friendly." He grinned softly. "The only way you are going to be able to get rid of them is to hit the marked targets."

The machines were fireproof so if he did hit them, it wouldn't do anything. However the targets responded to heat and if he was able to get any fire near it, then it would shut the machine off.

Lucius did not give Kadvar much time to process what he had said. The moment he had finished talking, he activated the test.

"Um, what?" Did he say machines, as in more than one? What exactly did he mean by not so friendly?

Humanoid machines entered the room. What was it Lucius said? Hit the targets? That wouldn't be too hard! He cautiously approached a stationery robot and tried punching it where the target was. Suddenly all of them began shooting.

Kadvar stumbled away from the machine falling onto his back, crawling away frantically while picking himself up. He felt his wrists heat up in an attempt to burn all of the machines in some way. The machines wouldn't burn and the heat missed their targets, wasting energy and heating his body slightly. Even if he had good control of his ability, it was difficult to aim when you felt you were going to die.

Doing what any sensible civilian would do, he panicked and begged Lucius to not kill him and stop the test. "Please let me out. You can't kill me! I'm sorry for being rude and difficult!" His frantic words were spoken almost too quickly to decipher it's meaning.

Lucius was not able to understand what Kadvar had said. Everything that was said here was recorded and he could play it back, but he did not want to direct his attention to that, especially since this was a test he really needed to keep an eye on.

"I am afraid I do not understand what you said." Lucius said.

None of the bullets actually hit Kadvar, but they got close enough to make him think they were going to. The only way he could get hit is if he moved into a already shot bullet, which had happened before.

Lucius desided that it was probably not a good idea to have two of the machines at once. This was already stressful for Kadvar to the point he wasn't doing much good for himself. Lucius shut off the second machine.

However he did not tell Kadvar that he did. Maybe he would beleive that he somehow got it to stop. If he thought he was doing something right, it could help him feel like he could stop the last one as well.

Kadvar was far too distracted by the machine still firing at him to realize the second had been shut off. It was difficult to hear Lucius past the gunfire, and it took him a moment to process what was said. "You have to let me out, please! I'll stop being difficult!" He spoke a little slower, willing to say just about anything if he thought it would get him out.

He backed into a wall quickly realising there was nowhere to run. There was no escape. The gifted dropped to his knees while covering his ears and closing his eyes, an unsuccessful attempt to calm himself down. His breaths were panicked and his heart felt as if it were going to beat out of his chest. If he wasn't so afraid he might have noticed none of the bullets were hitting.

A ring of fire surrounded the gifted. The flames were powerful sure, but they wouldn't stop bullets. With no fuel Kadvar's own energy was sapped to feed the fire. The machine wasn't close enough to the flame to be deactivated.

Lab Rats (Gifted Roleplay)
Setting

All the characters are at a lab in a remote island. All the guards and scientists live in buildings around the lab. Most of the lab is under ground. The lab is very guarded and is pretty much impossable to excape from. There are rooms of about five Gifteds all in their own cell, but they are able to see each other and speak to each other.

Plot

In our world, we expect we all have the same kinds of abilities, we can all do the same things, it all just depends on what you practice. However that believe is wrong, there are people born with strange, fantastic and even dangerous powers known as Gifteds. It doesn't matter if the parents are Gifted, the children produced seem to be randomly Gifted or non-Gifted.

Of course normal people fear the Gifteds, they are stronger than them, more dangerous than them and they have no way of knowing who is who. That's why when people learned of them the hunt for Gifteds started almost immediately.

The caught Gifteds were sent away to a place only known as 'The Labs' where they are experimented on to find their weaknesses and their strengths. Their final goal is to find a way to control them and use them for wars.

History

Lucius brought Nori and Alex for a test to see if Alex could heal Nori's sickness.

Alex was drugged in order to savely bring him back to his cell.

Kadvar told Alex his plans to excape by writing on a card and passing it to him.

Kadvar is dirtying his cell to try to attract Nori.

Rusty is being lazy and not updating this.

Please play as the minority group so we don't get overflowed with one type of character.

Please look at other characters and do not make Gifteds with a power someone already has.

All powers must have weaknesses. For example, most Gifteds will loose control of their ability while under stress.

Only one power for each Gifted.

Both guards and scientists carry weapons, but scientists will only use them if a guard isn't around.
