Verner heard a cracking noise and glanced at the source. The gifted had iced himself. It was clear now his feet were creating all of this ice which brought up the question of how. To create ice he'd need water, so was he using his own body's fluids, or maybe the water vapor in the room? There were a few ways to test both of those theories. He'd need to remember to write notes of his future testing plans.
He also needed to figure out a way to keep his feet from creating ice. The labs had ankle cuffs, but not many. The majority of those were meant to weigh down speed, flight, or strength gifteds. Chances were there was little to no ankle cuffs made for ice gifteds, which meant he'd need to file a request that a few be made which would take more time out of his day. He could tell this was going to be a busy week.
"Not by much," though it would be helpful. He was going to run tests for common diseases, but knowing where he was from would help him to know if he should check for certain less common diseases. It was important to know in case the gifted needed special care for an illness. He had just worked with Caleb's blood, and it was best to know if he had exposed himself to any dangerous diseases.
If he became ill so could any of the gifteds, guards, and scientists he worked with. He also talked to mechanics, janitors, electricians, medical personal, plumbers, engineers... He talked to quite a few people to fit his social needs. Maybe it was best to limit as much social contact as possible until he tested the blood sample, elsewise if he had been exposed to a contagious disease he could start an entire epidemic.
He grabbed the materials he needed and moved closer to Caleb removing the tourniquet from his arm and setting it onto a counter. He moved his wheeled chair on the side of Caleb's opposite arm, the arm he'd administer the allergy test.
There were no needles for this test, well technically they were needles but they didn't make it past the skin. He grabbed one of two identical plastic tools, they had about eight tiny needles all with different allergens. They'd hardly pierce the skin and would only cause a slight discomfort, that was if the needles were detectable at all.
"This shouldn't hurt at all," even if he did react to any of these allergens the worst symptom he could experience was itchy skin. Unless he was deathly allergic to something in which case he had a needle filled with adrenaline ready to slow or stop such a lethal allergic reaction.
He pressed the needles into the upper part of Caleb's forearm and set the tool down to grab the second identical one. He applied this one to the lower half of his forearm. They'd be waiting for a handful of minutes for any allergic reactions to show up. It was nearly guaranteed Caleb reacted to one of the compouds, as it was a compound nearly every human and gifted showed an allergic reaction to.
