Mai poured over that book and found one chakra healing technique that would work on draconians that also involved her bloodline... She'd have to show Rowen the book. There were only four known copies of the book. One belonged to her father, another was in an archive, the third was floating around private collections and she had the fourth. The healing technique in question was dangerous for Mai to use. It could result in severe injury and had to be performed with complete cooperation on the draconian's part. It used mostly the draconian's own chakra and once the healing was done Mai's own chakra would have to be withdrawn for the sake of stability.

Mai found Rowen curled up in a hollow of a tree and showed her the book explaining how rare it was and that it was a gift from Mai's father. AND the only source of medical information Mai had on Rowen so destroying Mai's copy of the book could prove fatal one day. She also showed Rowen that she had been censoring pages that could be used to inflict harm on a draconian. Mai made the offer to fix the wing. She had a chakra tournaquit on her arm for her own protection.

Rowan hissed and backed up arther into the hollow. WHY could this person not just leave her alone? It was not the first timethat some injury like this had happened. It would not be the last, and Rowan was frankly offended that Mai seemed to think that Rowan could not handle herself. The medic seemed to think she was weak, that she needed help. Rowan told Mai as much, and left the hollow with a warning growl, sprinting off on foot deeper into the woods. Mai would have to be pretty stupid to follow her this far... It was not a safe place. Not even for a member of the akatsuki... Rowan realized that this was probably not her most well thought out plan... Oh well. She was good at getting into trouble, and better at getting out. She found that her wing was doing better now, and although she was still grounded for now, she could fold it onto her back. 

Mai just went back to the medical ward and grabbed a chocolate pudding cup that she had sitting in that refridgerator in her room if her sister caught her eating this she was in so much trouble. Rowen took any offer of assistance as an insult... Just like Kin took her eating any packaged food as an insult. 'Sis you know I can make that ten times better and better for you...' Mai sweat dropped. "I need to get Kin out of my head like that." That Deidara guy was back. No injuries this time he just sat on Mai's bed grinning like he was a sex god that Mai if she had any sense should fawn over.

With Kin she was making medditerainian Itachi's favorite in general. She had a strange sense that her sister was eating packaged food... But Kin had work to do. She'd pester her sister later. Itachi was sitting there watching her cook or more importantly staring at her butt.

Mai decided to write a note explaining herself to Rowen: Rowan I want you to understand one thing about me. It is my JOB to tend to the injuries and health of all my charges including you. I take that job seriously. If I seem like I don't leave you alone it is not because you are weak but because I think you could be stronger if you were in better shape. You would probably be just fine on your own but with help you could do even better. It takes a strong person in my book to ask for or accept help. I'm not going to ask you to trust me as a person, just as a doctor who's looking out for your best interests. I should leave you alone if I value my own health but the health of my charges is more important to me. So I'm asking you once your wing is better and I've read that book cover to cover, let me give you a physical so I can let you know some areas you can improve on.

Mai had written it neatly unlike some doctors she took some pride in her penmanship. Mai left the note with Sasori to give to Rowan later.

 

With Kin... Kin had made dinner and was eating it with Itachi quietly. Little Akane was eating some of the food that had been put in the blender so she could eat it. They were going to wean her gradually. Honestly Akane was like Kin's new baby girl. Itachi seemed jealous of some of the attention the fox got. Kin had said that it was a baby and babies needed a lot of attention. Itachi just ate his dinner and Kin said idly. "People who eat a medditeranian diet live longer... So I guess this stuff is good for you."

Rowan walked sllowly through the deep woods. It was... well, creepy. Really creepy... And she got the feeling that this was one of these things that noboody had told her not to do because she was expected to know better... Like setting deidara's hair on fire. Well... She would just be careful. That worked most of the time. She ound that she had almost full control of her wing now, and the pain had faded. While she could not do some of her more extravagant areial tricks or go at her top speed, she could fly normally just fine.

Then... she saw it.

And she realized that coming back here had been a REALLY bad idea.

Mai had a funny feeling that one of her charges besides Deidara who was about to lose at checkers... They were doing something stupid and potentially dangerous. Mai managed to make a king and take out two of Deidara's pieces simultaniously. It was his move and she had a solid defense. He shoved the board aside and said "This is the fifth time you beat me yeah..." Mai started cleaning up the checkers and said "I really have to go over some files. Come back tomorrow or something." Deidara left and Mai pulled out some files to go over them. Until she was sure Deidara was gone that is... Then she pulled that book out.

Rowan dogjed the attack just in time. Had she moved any ;ater she would have been incenerated by the giant fireball. The thing spiraled off into a tree. Rowan yelped as the tree exploded, sending splinters into her side. She growled and faced the enemy again. 

Four people were standing in front of her. A man with orange hair, a girl with red hair, a teen with whitish blue hair, and another teen with black hair. 

The last one was the one who had shot that fireball, and the one Rowan was most concerned with at the moment. THe scent... and those eyes... yeah, this had to be Itachi's brother. She really did not know much about the kid, just that he was strong, and he hated Itachi.

Oh, and he was trying to kill her now. That too. 

Before she could gather herself, the white haired boy had appeared behind her with a huge sword. She tried to move, but she was too slow. He brought the sword crashing down into her skulll, killing her dragon form instantly.

Rowan reverted to her human form, scrambling out of the way and drwing her weapon. The speed of her reaction made up for the slow of her evasion, and she managed to slice his temple open. He cried out and recoiled, but by the Sasuke had maneuvered between them, with a katana.

She knew then that this was going to be rough.

------------------------------------------------------Timeskip, 2 hours----

"Hmm."

Sasuke poked at the small figure with a foot. There was no reaction.

"Hey, Sasuke! Let me finish him off! That boy's ripped me to shreds, look!" Suigetsu did inteed have shallow cuts all over him. Some of the deep ones on his sides and head could possibly be bad...

And he was annoyed about it. Sasuke poked at Rowan again. He had no idea who the "Boy" was... But "He" was wearing an akatsuki robe, and that was enough for him. 

...Although, killing a member was probably not the best way to join.

"Suigetsu, he's already dead."

"Really?! Aww, that sucks..."

Rowan shifted slightly. Karin screamed and jumped back.

"...Dead people don't move sasuke."

"Thank you for pointing that out, Suigetsu. No, you can not kill him. If he's not dead now then he will be soon anyway..."

Sasuke was right. Blood loss, stab wounds in the stomach, severe burns... Rowan was not in good condition.

Rowan gasped and tried to move. No such luck. theyhad really done a number on her.. Dragon form dead, no big deal. But if her human form died too...

Normally loosing a form was fine. I her other form was in good condition, then it would regenerate. But if both of her forms were dead at the same time... well, she would die altogether.

And it looked like she was getting close. Her thoughts were blurred, she could barely registre that people were talking. Breathing was hard. Very hard, she had a rib through her lung. Everything was begining to ade out... Getting all black... 

Crap.

Kin was out walking and looking for various goodies to cook when she found a near dead Rowan. Whoever did it was gone. Kin ran back for her sister and somebody strong enough to carry that human form or provide some sort of protection for her and her sister to do it. Mai hopped to with a wheeled gurny and Kisame. When they got back Mai and Kin managed to load Rowan up on the gurny and made to wheel her back when Itachi showed up and saw the damage. His first words were "Get those three out of here." Kisame actually obeyed and started back with the twins and Rowan.

The instant Mai got that dragon to the med ward she put that chakra tornaquit on and started drawing Rowan's chakra mixing it with small amounts of her own. Then she applied the healer's touch carefully drawing the excess and all of her own chakra back to prevent destablization of the injuries. The potentially fatal ones anyways. Mai couldn't do much except put some soothing antiseptic salve on the burns and put Rowan in a loose hospital gown that wouldn't stick to the burns in the sun to hopefully keep her warm. Neither sister knew what Itachi was up to but Leader was made aware of the situation and sent several members to deal with the problem. Sasori was put on guard duity at the med ward because he could handle Rowan better. Rowan also had a heart monitor set up with an alarm set so Mai would know if she flat lined but there wasn't a beep. Mai had to force all the chakra out of her hand after patching up Rowan her hand was burning and she was afraid to remove the chakra reducing band around her arm to send healing chakra and soothe it because there could still be traces of Rowan's chakra in her hand. And that could prove disasterous for her. So she did the best she could expelling all but the bare minimum of chakra from her hand to be safe. Then she removed the band and let the chakra levels normalize.

''So.....''

Yori was currently seated straight across Pein,who was sitting behind his huge desk seemingly unfazed by the boy's physical display of relief.The brunette was glad the desk was so big because that created some distance between them.Yori did not like speaking with someone if that person was practically almost in his face.Especially someone with eyes like Pein's...or that raven-haired man's.

''About my job as errand-boy...-''

Pein's hand had shot up, silencing Yori mid-sentence.The boy's eyebrows rose and his eyes asked ''Excuse me, now what?''

The man dropped his hand and focused his gaze on something in the distance.Yori turned around and searched for that thing that leader was looking at, but only found a slight stain on the wall.

''It seems that my presence is requested somewhere else,''

''Oh really?''

Yori wondered, how could a stain on the wall tell him that?Or...The boy glanced sideways at Pein.Maybe he had hidden earbuds.Or, his Leader senses had been tingling...yes,that was probably it.

''Details about your job will come later,''He stood up and locked eyes with Yori, who blushed for being caught staring intensely at the man's ears.

''For now, just ask everyone you see if you can do something and hope they won't murder you.If you managed to survive I will  probably see you later this day.Now go!''

before he even knew Yori was already back outside.''Ask everyone...''His ears suddenly heard sounds of a commotion going on at medical ward.

''I wondered what's happening there.''

Mai was still in pain but functioning when Itachi brought some kid who looked like him back both of them were bleeding from the eyes. The kid was out cold and Itachi was bleeding. She put the kid under sedation and got to Itachi's injuries. Except for the eyes nothing some stitches and rest wouldn't fix. So she fixed it and put him on a bed. The kid she wasn't going to waste chakra on just yet so she made sure he was secured and unable to use jutsu before bandaging his eyes for the time being and leaving him there. Kisame brought in a bluish white haired boy covered in gashes and scratches bound up and grinning like an idiot until he saw Rowan and said "That's the guy who scratched me up!" Mai also noticed Kisame had another giant sword with him and the boy had a broken arm, a twisted ankle, and four broken fingers all of which she set and made sure he couldn't get out before she said "Rowan over there is a girl you idiot. Women walk differently than men but then again her pelvis hasn't finished widening so it might be an easy mistake to make." The kid said "You mean I got clawed up by a girl?" Mai glowered and said "Are you chuvanisits or something?" "No just surprised." Two more came in carried by Hidan and Kakuzu. Both out cold with minor injuries. Mai said "Don't we have holding cells or something?" Leader said "Why aren't they in holding cells?" Kisame started bustling people out leaving the one kid sedated and slung over his shoulder. The bluish white haired kid said "At least the doctor is hot." Kisame chuckled and said "Stay away from her twin sister. Itachi might kill you." Itachi growled and said "Shut up Kisame." Kisame started laughing and Hidan said "You two playing house Itachi?" Kakuzu said something about using protection and then Itachi was left alone with Mai and Rowan.

"Nnng... Ah.. Sa... Sae... N... Nono, nononoNONO!"

Rowan sat bolt upright, panting hard. 

What. What?

She looked around, seeing but not registering. Lots of white... Annnd... Ow-OW!

She winced and hunched over. Wow... That hurt like crap. She pushed a temple out of habit.  

Ouch. There was a cut there... She looked at the wall. By some odd chance, there was a mirror, and she could see that it was a pretty nasty cut.  Probaly going to scar... Heh, that  was going to look cool. 

"Hey! Who do you think you are, pretending to be a boy?!"

"I... What?"

"You were pretending to be a guy!"

Rowan just blinked.

 

Mai watched Kisame carrying out that white haired kid and yelling at Rowan. Mai had a cold tone when she said "Some girls aren't as feminine in appearance... Do not insult any of my charges. Kisame take him out of here before I sedate him." Kisame said "Kid don't tick the doctor off. She could tie a knot in your intestines while she takes out your appendix just to watch you waste away." Mai said "I am not sadistic but I am not above taking away his ability to produce offspring." The kid gulped and Kisame laughed.

Mai turned to Rowan as the kid was taken off. "Rowan I used that one chakra technique in the book and my hand is still burning. I might have done something wrong so I'd like you to stay here in case it undoes itself." Mai looked at the storm clouds building. "I used your chakra and had to take back the healing chakra. It's called a flash heal and it isn't as well healed as my healer's touch would be normally so I want you to take it easy." Mai shut the windows and locked them. Then she got an electric blanket for Rowan. "Do what you want just take it easy and stay around here. The linen closet is better equipped for you if you'd like. The dog bed is the best I could come up with for the time being. I'm having my sister make something more suited for a dragon. But I hope you never have to use it." Mai got Rowan some water. "By the way my sister and I had to dress you. That salve is something my grandmother taught me to make. I analyzed it later and found out it has antiseptic properties and yet it's soothing for burns. Checked the book nothing that would cause a negative reaction so don't worry." Uchiha was asleep and there was a sound proofing seal keeping him from hearing any of their conversation.

Kin had gotten worried when Itachi hadn't come back. She then heard the thunder and scurried for the medical building. Itachi was there and Kin had brought dinner. She'd eaten but she'd brought enough lamb for three. Kin gave some to Mai and left more for Rowan and then she made a bee line for Itachi waking him up for dinner. Then she actually cuddled Itachi as the thunder boomed. Kin felt safer around Itachi. Part of her found it funny that a mass murderer could make her feel safe. Itachi seemed appreaciative of Kin being there warm, sweet, and trusting him so much. She hadn't seen Sauske around but she asked "Who did this to you?" "Sauske but he's locked up... He can't get at you. I won't let him. Neither will that one man who made you scared of thunder..." "Remi... His name is Remi." "I won't let Sauske or Remi get you."

Mai said to Rowan "My sister didin't poison the food. Also if he tries any hanky panky while I'm not looking claw his face up please." Kin said "Sis you are a pervert." Itachi said "If I did anything like that I'd tear my stitches. Besides we don't have any protection with us right now." Mai went over to a medicine cabinet and pulled out the monthly contraceptives and a box of a certain objects with a sigh. "Scratch the clawing then please Rowan." There was a scratching at the door and Mai opened it. The fox kit came inside whining and tried to get on the bed with Kin and Itachi. Kin picked the fox kit up when Itachi finished eating. "Come here sweetie." Mai said "That fox cub thinks you're her mother Kin."

Rowan shoved herself up a bit more.

The medic... had hurt herself... for... Rowan?

No, that made no sense. 

Also, the white haired kid thought that she was a boy. That had to be the funniest thing to happen to her in a while, and she made a mental note that if she ever got the chance to, she needed to ttease him about it. 

The thought of Mai dressing her was... Upsetting, to say the least, and while she adgusted herself into a better position she resolved not to think about it for the moment. 

She brought her hand up to her nose, and she could smell the stuff on her burns. SMelled herbal, like it was something natural that had grown from the ground like normal things. There was deffinetly aloe in there. Well, at least something about the situation was non stressful.

The comment about beingallowed to claw Itachi's stupid ace off was a plus, and she was vaugley dissapointed when it was canceled.

Still, she never really needed permission to do that anyway, so all was well.

As she was thinking, the remaining adreniline in her sysyem wore off rather suddenly. This was normal, especially when she was let in her human form with a dead dragon form. She gasped and doubed over, eyes screwed shut.

The Akatsuki live and spend their free time here at the compound around here they can relax and focus on things like hobbies. (they can and will be ooc around here) It's in the middle of nowhere but has all the amenities.

Auxiliary members stay with one of the main members.

You live and work for the Akatsuki here, each member has their own house and staff here.

How you got here varies, some of you could have been slaves both captured by the Akatsuki or rescued from an abusive master to work here.

The Akatsuki could have seen your power but since the main spots are full up you are a back up who also guards the compound. When a member is sick and has a mission you could be their stand in.

You could even be hired to work here. It's up to you.
