Cyrus understood what Liam was saying. "You could be right," he said. "This feral side is something that's powerful, and if I learn to control it, I'd be a boss," said Cyrus, smiling. Liam chuckled. "You could even go back to the lab, kill all the scientists, and probably sniff out our parents," he chortled. Cyrus laughed. "That'd be something," he said. The two pounded knuckles. "You can be a pain at sometimes, but that just means you're my little brother, Liam...even though we're not related," said Cyrus. "Thanks," said Liam. Cyrus nodded. As they walked Cyrus looked up at Rhett. "Rhett, don't you think you should take a break from flying?" he asked. When he got no reply, Cyrus shrugged. He halted suddenly, smelling something. "What is it?" asked Liam, walking past him. "Liam, wait!" shouted Cyrus, reaching out and grabbing Liam. He yanked him back, stopping the lion boy from going over a small cliff into a rushing river below. "Oh snap," said Liam. Cyrus patted Liam on the back and went in a different direction. "Thanks, Cy," said Liam. "No problem," said Cyrus. "If the river's rushing down that way, it's curving from up here," he said. He hurried off. Liam rushed after him. Cyrus and Liam ran on for two minutes until they cam upon the river. It was more calm than the one they saw. "Moving water is healthy and safe to drink," said Liam. He got on his knees to drink, but Cyrus pulled him back up. He pointed up the river. "It's not if there's something in the water releasing toxins," said the wolf boy. Liam was surprised to see a dead deer in the water. Water was moving past and through it. Something had killed it. Cyrus and Liam made it to the deer and examined it. "It's been poisoned," said Cyrus. "Then fed on," said Liam. Cyrus looked across the bank and saw a dead wolverine. "That would explain the dead wolverine," he said. Liam saw the animal and was taken aback. "This deer's been here for a day or two," said Cyrus. "Which means the water that's already rushed past it is not safe to drink," he said. He looked the other way. "But the water that's moving toward it, is," said Cyrus. He walked up the river some more, squatted, and cupped his hand. He scooped up some water and tasted it. Yeah, it was safe. Cyrus nodded as Liam and Liam walked over to him. The lion boy got on his knees and dipped his entire head in the water. Cyrus busted out laughing. Liam came back out with a gasp. Cyrus drunk his fill and wiped his mouth. "We need some breakfast," he said. "Want me to go find another deer?" asked Liam. "No, we need eggs," said Cyrus, surveying the sky and trees. There was a nest above him. "Perfect," he said.
It was Kin's turn to sleep. They mostly moved at night to better avoid detection. Mai had Kin's head in her lap and was talking "Kin we're sisters right?" "Yes we are." "Explain why Cyrus is interested in you instead of me." "Because I act like an alpha female. I honestly act like the alpha period. Cyrus hasn't gotten himself in check... Neither have you really but I can teach you if you want. Then Cyrus would be all yours. Unless he just really likes me." "Kin it's fine. It's nice of you to offer." "I can't teach Cyrus he's too much of an alpha male type... He won't do what I tell him to when I tell him to do it. Now could you let me sleep?" "Sure thing sis..."

Cyrus flew up to the nest, spooking the mother robin. He growled as the father tried to attack. The birds flew off, spooked by the unknown predator. Cyrus picked out the eggs and flew back down to Liam. "Great, Mr. Alpha Wolf, now how are we going to cook them?" asked Liam. Cyrus growled at him, picking out two thick sticks and quickly making a fire. Liam shut his mouth. Soon, they began to crack and fry the eggs on a rock Cyrus heated up using the fire. Liam watched Cyrus as he cooked away. "Cyrus," said Liam. Cyrus looked at him. "Do you ever think you're too much of an alpha?" asked Liam. "What? No, why would you think that?" asked Cyrus. "Well I see how you were when we were all gathered in the lab and you began bossing some of the now dead experiments around," said Liam. Cyrus knew where Liam was going. "Liam, I do that because I'm the oldest," said Cyrus. "Yeah, but Kin's one of the oldest too and she doesn't boss people around," said Liam. "Kin's a young woman, I'm a young man, we're different," said Cyrus. "Still, ya' think you can lower the alpha touch just a bit?" asked Liam. "Maybe, but come on, I don't press my alphaness that much...do I?" asked Cyrus. Liam gave him a look. "Okay, fine," said Cyrus. "The reason why I really act like the boss is to impress," he said. "Who?" asked Liam. Cyrus gave him a look. "Oh....Kin," said Liam. "Exactly," said Cyrus. "When you told me my feral side took a liking to Kin, I knew right then and there it was only because of my hidden affections for her," he said. "My feral side is really connected to my normal side," said Cyrus. "If I'm weeed off, my feral side would go beserk. If I'm overjoyed, my feral side would run loose howling and yipping in delight. If I'm sad, my feral side would whimper and cry and not do a lot of things," he said. "What if you're in love in your normal side?" asked Liam. Cyrus sighed. "I'd show it in my feral side, and the beast will reign over if that happens on a full moon," he said. "But Kin's a fox. Why not go with Mai? Shouldn't your feral side like those that are like you?" asked Liam. "If my normal side likes someone, my feral side will try and get with that someone," said Cyrus. "I'm friends with Mai, but I don't have affections for her," he said. "That means my feral side will tolerate her, that and she's a wolf girl," said Cyrus.

Liam understood. "I know I can be a jerk, Liam, but it's all for show," said Cyrus. "In fact, instead of using my anger, I need to use my intelligence like I did when I stopped you from going over the cliff or drinking the unsafe water," he said. Liam nodded. "You think because you're angry all the time is the reason why your feral side is triggered so easily on a full moon?" asked Liam. Cyrus thought about it. "...I believe so," said Cyrus. "If I can learn to control my anger, I can probably control my feral side," he said.

Eventually Rhett looked back and noticed that two of the group was missing and the other two guys were walking. He heard one of them beckon him down, and decided taking a break was a good idea. The sun was up, bathing the forest in warm light, the warmth in those beams of light felt nice; it made he feel like he could just curl up and take a nap. He was about to speak when he saw the river and got excited, running ahead of Cyrus and Liam only to stop dead in his tracks upon seeing the dead deer. He backed away, repelled thoroughly by the smell of rotting flesh, he shuddered and shook his head slinking away back into the woods ‘I’ll join up with them after’ he thought wincingly. He was actually rather thirsty, but he could wait for water that didn`t reek of death. The sight of dead things shook him to the core, it was the iguana in him; never go where there was death, the culprit could still be nearby. He forgot his thirst for the time being and his longing to take a swim, and found a warm place to curl up and take a nap instead. He hadn’t slept at all in the night, and he was tired.

Lexy had watched as the two women rose above the tree line and flew southward. She had started to continued north but stopped waveringly. She looked contemplative, tapping her foot ditheringly. She finally growled, looking annoyed with herself and stomping her foot; try as she might she couldn`t get them all off of her mind. Their barbarically primitive behavior stuck in her mind, they were like her, but different and that intrigued her. She looked back over her shoulder, and sighed. One thing was for certain—they could hunt. She on the other hand was a poor hunter despite having the patience for it. She rubbed her hands together scheming ‘yeah...I’ll do that’ she thought grinning ‘and here I was thinking this trip would be boring, but I do believe I’ve just found some nice playthings’. Some part of her still wanted to go north, but she prided herself on her ability to overcome those baser impulses. With that she headed off to the south in the direction she`d last seen the others. She knew she`d catch up with them sooner or later.

When night fell again Kin and Mai got on the move flying low they saw the beach after a few hours. When they touched down in front of the beach. Then they camped out resting up for the big flight. Mai was restless she wanted meat but Kin thought it too dangerous to go out hunting like that. Mai actually defied her and brought back two birds. Kin's fox ego was slightly bruised by this but she reluctantly ate what was offered cooking the meat just enough to be safe and picking the bones clean burying the inedible bits carefully. Then Kin put out the fire and Mai went to sleep. Mai once again twitched and yipped in her sleep. Kin stroked her and Mai's sleep quieted. Then she and Mai traded off. Kin didn't dream so for her it was a dark void. The following morning they preened and bathed in the river.
After breakfast, Cyrus and Liam moved off, with Liam finding Rhett and carrying the sleeping iguana boy. They walked on until night fall. "It's night fall with no full moon, let's fly," said Cyrus. "Right," said Liam. The two spread their wings and flew into the air. They soared on through the night, soon reaching the beach. Liam rested Rhett on the sand, surprised that the boy still slept. "Can we rest?" asked Liam. Cyrus sniffed the air and scoured the beach for anything suspicous. "For now," he said. Liam nodded and sat down. He unwrapped some deer meat, meat from a deer they caught on their way to the beach, and shared it with Cyrus. After eating, Cyrus saved some meat for Rhett. They then fell asleep, listening to the ocean. In the morning, they were off again, Cyrus carrying Rhett this time. "Dang, is it normal for...an iguana to sleep for this long?" asked Cyrus. "I guess the scientists did it on purpose," said Liam. "Or...he could be dead," said Liam, poking Rhett. The iguana boy wiggled in his sleep. "Nope, he's alive," said Liam. Cyrus chuckled. The two flew over the trees. They were finally going to reach the south and be free. Cyrus doubted the scientists were hunting them down. An hour later, Cyrus and Liam touched down by yet another river. This one was entirely healthy. "Can I take a drink?" asked Liam. Cyrus rested Rhett by the tree and sniffed the water. "Not yet, someone's bathing in it," said Cyrus. Liam was surprised. "Who?" he asked. Cyrus looked up the river, smiled, and then immediately turned his head with a shocked expression. "...K-Kin...and M-Mai..." he said. Liam looked up the river, but Cyrus turned him back around. "No, no, no...they're bathing," said Cyrus. Liam's eyes bulged and he blushed. Cyrus shook his head and called, "Mind if we join?" Liam busted out laughing. He then cupped up some water and threw it over Rhett yelling, "Wake up, man!"

Rhett leapt awake slightly startled “what is it?” he asked surprised, looking around. Then yawned seeing that nothing was about “who, how long was I out?” he asked rhetorically before spotting the river and smiling widely. He forgot about the others instantly, taking a run and jumping in without delay, splashing Kin and Mai before diving under eagerly; swimming like an iguana with his arms and legs back, propelling himself about with his tail.  He resurfaced “come on in the water’s great!” he called to Cyrus and Liam slapping the water exuberantly with his tail, before diving again. He dragged himself on the bottom, inspecting the river bed, and grabbing mouthfuls of aquatic plants and then resurfacing to eat them; grinning the whole time like an idiot.

Kin ducked under the water and Mai tried to show herself off. Kin yelped "No! Now my wings are soaked." Kin scrambled out and got dressed clothes clinging to her body and she ruffled the feathers trying to dry them quickly. Mai had no shame and said "Water's cold boys!" Mai took her sweet time getting out and dried shaking herself like a dog and ruffling her feathers. Kin shook herself off trying to get the cling off her clothes and keep her modesty. Then she started preening Mai's feathers methodically making sure the waterproofing oil was on good and that the feathers were in good shape. Mai did the same for her. Then Mai found a tick and pulled it off crushing the invertibrate with her finger and thumb. Kin said "We're waiting for nightfall before we head out."
Liam smiled and dove deeper into the river. Even though cats didn't like water, Liam loved water. He swam to the bottom, watching Rhett eat away at the vegetation on the riverbank. Liam swam all the way up to Kin and Mai, laughing as Kin hurried out of the water. "We're waiting for nightfall before we head out," she said. "Cool, we're doing the same," said Liam. He looked down to Cyrus. "Right, Cy?" asked Liam. "Yep," replied Cyrus, backstroking up the river to them. He got out of the water and took off his shirt, revealing his eight-pack and pecks. Cyrus walked up to Kin and handed her his shirt. "Here, put this on if you need it," said Cyrus. Liam looked down the river and watched Rhett eat away. "He must be really hungry," said Liam. He laughed as Rhett resurfaced and chewed his food with an idiotic expression. Liam swam over to a rock in the river. He climbed it. "I feel like a lion in his own domain," said Liam, standing tall on the rock. He cocked his head back and released a mighty roar, one he couldn't pull off back at the lab. Cyrus turned to him in surprise. "Whoa, did you just roar?" he asked. Liam smiled and nodded. "Sure did," said Liam. Cyrus clapped. "Halleluiah," he said. Liam laughed and dove underwater.
Kin went and fixed her shirt handing Cyrus his back. Mai was drooling. Her ears went flat at the roar. It was loud. Mai howled again enthusiastically. She was doing her best to attract the alpha male's attention. Kin however was embaressed and modest. Mai laid out on the rock in what she thought was an appealing position. Kin climbed a tree and draped herself over the branch. She had good balance and stayed up even when she fell asleep. Mai stayed where people could see her and she finger combed her hair. Kin woke up and started doing that too perched up in that tree. She wasn't primping she was keeping her hair from getting matted and and she was helping it dry faster, She wished she had a comb or brush.

Rhett tilted his head listening to Liam reiterate that they would move out at dark “actually…” he started to say, but stopped himself. He wasn’t a fan of moving at night, but he`d keep his mouth closed ‘if they can do it so can I’ he thought confidently. His reptilian eyes had color vision far surpassing that of a human, but that notoriety of vision came at a price; he was practically night blind. He shrugged and dove back under the water spiraling around Liam in a taunting manner as he settled to a different part of the river bed. Contracting his pupils allowed him to see under water almost as well as he could see above it, or at least that would have been the case if he hadn’t disturbed the riverbed so much and clouded the water with silt. Though since colors were so much more vivid to him, plants still stood out like beacons to him. He had never swum in his life, but he felt like he had been doing it all his life, like it was in his blood.

After a bit he resurfaced catching sight of Mai; he stared at her curiously for a moment tilting his head before diving back under. He was very immature for his age and hadn’t reached the point where he was interested in girls yet. Though he was brought up again by the sound of a thunderous roar that had nearly startled him, Mai then howled, caught up in the moment he tried to join them and release his inner beast too, but the sound he produced was a high pitched squeak. Iguanas were not creatures that vocalized by nature; he had no cry. He sighed; he wished he could produce a sound that could command attention like that or at least something beautiful and resonant like the howl. He felt slightly humiliated, and dove back down to the bottom of the river.

Rhett couldn’t stay serious for very long though; shortly resurfacing, and splashing Mai with water mischievously he snickered before diving back under and popping up next to Liam, throwing algae at him diving quickly to avoid retaliation before swimming past Cyrus “race me!” he demanded playfully before speeding off; he was having a blast.

Lexy on the other hand was not. She was becoming increasingly annoyed. She was hungry, insect bitten, and getting dirty. She felt like she was traveling in circles and moving through the underbrush was slow going; she already had a bunch of scratches on her arms and legs from trying to take short cuts. Her wings felt so heavy, her feathers were ruffled, and she was covered with burs. “uh” she growled in frustration ‘this is insane!’ she snarled, punching the air ‘just where the heck did those dogs get to?’ she was more irritated at herself for losing their scent, and bumbling around the woods like a tenderfoot; not to mention not being able to fly.

Her hunger was driving her mad at that point ‘forget this’ she huffed as she hurriedly smoothed her feathers and spread her wings ‘I have these things for a reason, I need to quit acting like a ninny and use these things! Like I’ve got some freaking sense’ she thought obviously ‘I mean really… how hard could it possibly be?’ She scoffed and then took off, much to her surprise flying came quite naturally, but her flight was short lived, because the moment she looked down her resolve faltered, forcing her to land. ‘Coward!’ she scolded herself impudently, feeling ridiculous ‘where’s my wild side when I need it?’ 'Guess that won't work' She sighed, she felt like a stalker, stalking after the group the way she was. She sighed deeply ‘what a bother’ her patience was thinning rapidly as her reasons for following the group in the first place were shallow at best, and it was getting tought to convince herself that is was worth it.

She took a moment to think and regain her composure before heading off again, this time with a clear head; not allowing hunger to get the best of her common sense. She walked in a circle, gradually broadening it until she picked their scents up again, and this time stuck to clear paths only. She knew she`d catch up with them sooner or later, but her mood was only a thin strand away from becoming caustic at that point.

"Got 'em?"

"Yeah. Area... 2.4. Southward."

"Good. Get them ready."

"They already are. Should I sent them in now?"

The lab worker glanced back at the screen. It seemed that several of the fusions had banded together... That was unexpected.

No matter, it just made it easier to recapture them if they were in the same place.

"Yes... send them in"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The lackey back near the river held the remote cluchet tightly in his hand. He had been sprayed with a scent neutrilizer, so if her stayed quiet, there was no way that the Fusions would know he was there.

Still, it was unerving.

He hit the button the remote, knowing that back at the lab, it would have released all of the hunters, along with a few lab workers.

He sat still, but he did not have to wait for very long. Hunters were fast. Almost coming out of thin air, the bear size winged dog things were on the scene.

HUnters were terrifying. They looked loke huge, musculay scaly dogs with crockidile snouts. They should have been to heavy to fly, but they somewhoe could with their batlke wings.

Next thing he knew, one of the hunters was dragging a dead fusion out of the lake. It was the HawkXLion fusion.

This was bad. The hunters were supossed to capture, not kill them! They were getting out of controll!

Thankfully, the lab workers arrived moments later, and with a shouted command, the whole party left back to the lab.

Kin and Mai watched in horror from a tree as those things killed Liam. Then they looked at each other and started flying for the island. Kin rode a thermal to get as high as she dared and Mai flew low over the water. They were scared and they were running for their lives. Kin's primary concern was her and Mai getting to that island fast. They touched down on shore and started heading into the lush jungle to hide doing everything they could think of to make themselves hard to track. Mai was whimpering and Kin had her ears back and her tail fluffed out. The two were scared and ignoring the edible things they were passing up at first but once they calmed down they started picking fruit and scouting game mostly brightly colored birds. The two made their way deeper and deeper trying to lose anyone trying to find them.

A Storm Rising
Setting

Just on the outside of the lab.

There are trees, about a half a mile of them completely surround the lab. Tall, loblolly pines.

If you get farther out to the north, a snowy cliff.

To the east, also cliffs, but these are warmer. Less trees, but lots of rivers flow through.

You're going to hit a dead end if you go south, but it might work for you. It's a beach, and there is a tropical island about five miles off the coast.

Whatever you do... Don't go west.

Plot

Shh... They'll hear you.

If they catch you, then they'll take you back to the lab.

That's the last thing you want.

So spread your wings and fly, fight them, or outsmart them.

What you do now will change your life.

History

You my friend, are nothing more than an experiment.

You seem to be human at first glance. Then, upon further inspection, one would see your wings.

If they look closer, they will see some other animal quality.

They will scream and run.

What do you think you are doing, running away from me?

I will find you.

You will regret this.

...That all creeped you out, right? Unerved you a little?

I wonder who was talking to you just them...hmm...

WHELP, anyway, here's the rules.

You have JUST NOW escaped the lab, that is where you start. (In the woods.) If you don't know, Loblolly pines are tall, skinny pines. they only have branches at the top. (Real life truffula trees, only a lot taller.)

You MUST have two Oc's. One will be killable, one not.

You have wings. The wings can look however you want.

in addition to your wings, you also have some qualities from another animal. THis may be any real animal that is alive today, and you must use only ONE other animal. (EX: Cat ears and tail, fangs and snake eyes, gills and tinted skin.)

I controll all scientists/staff/wild animals/ things you will encounter if you make the poor decision to go west.

You do not pick which of your OC's is killable. I may kill either one of them.

Get my permission before killing an OC.

(Yes, I am being a controll freak with this RP, but I'm trying something new with it and I think it will be interesting.)

Quick note- You may encounter a person who goes by "Rowan," "Silver," "Menace," or any combination of these three names.. She seems to be an escapee from a while back... will she help or hurt you?

Pmme with questions BEFORE making a character.

Good luck then.
