Bite walked across the hot desert/prairie. He stood on a rock and layed down. Although the rock was hot, it was better than laying on the hard, dry floor. He rested his head on his paws. In the distance, a small herd of Embolotherium grazed on dry clumps of grass. There were at least 3 adults and two calves. Bite knew he wouldn't evenbe able to take down a calf. He scratched his neck and stood up. There was a nearby beach he would always go to, mainly to escape the hot rays of the sun, but also to scavange on dead fish or crush turtles. He headed toward the direction the beach was.
The male phorusrachos looked across the prairie. He had to be careful of the smilodons, although with a blow to the head if would quickly die, but they were still powerful. A scent filled Gavan's nostrils. Smilodon territory. He saw a lone macrauchenia sniffing the grass. A light drizzle began, as well as slow wind. The wind blew the herbivores scent towards him. He slowly walked over to the herbivore. The macrauchenia lifted its head. The rain poured down harder. With the rain it was somewhat difficult to see. Once he got close enough, he charged toward the long nosed herbivore, raising a leg and pinning it down the the grass. He swung his head back and then forth, hearing an awful crrrack! He looked down to see the herbivore twitch a few times, then go motionless.
Gavan filled his belly. He tore off one of the herbivore's legs and walked away with the thigh in his beak. His nest was located under some trees and clumps of twigs, and located under a ridge, perfect shelter for any weather, and hidden from predators. A unpleasant scent filled his nostrils. He buried the leg in his nest and looked around. He squawked angrily, and flapped his small wings. He heard a low growl. He turned around. Nothing. Something emerged from the bushes. A cave lion. Gavan screeched loudly, causing the cave lion to snarl. He spread his wings out as much as he could and screeched even louder. The feline shook it's head, trying to get rid of the ear-splitting noise. Gavan lunged at the feline, peircing his beak into its neck. The cave lion slashed at his chest, making him release his grasp.
Bite finally reached the beach. He wallked over to a turtle struggling to get back to the water. Bite loved the feel and sound of the crunching in his jaws, and then eating the meat trying to hide in a shell. Bite picked up the turtle and bit down hard, hearing a satisfying crrrrunch. After getting rid of the shell, he began eating the hopeless sea turtle. A larger Andrewsarchus approached him and snarled. Bite let go of his kill, and cowered, whimpering. He slowly crawled back, and sprinted away from the larger carnivore. Once he was far enough from the other andrewsarchus, he began scavenging. He spotted the carcass of a basilosaurus. The only thing left was strips of meat and a portion of its lower back and neck. Bite looked around, making sure no one was nearby. He hungrily sank his jaws into the remaining meat of the carcass.
The terror bird screeched in pain, he gathered his senses and lunged towards the feline. He quickly pinned it down with one foot and grasped its neck once more. The cave lion slashed its huge front paws, only being able to claw his legs. Gavan thrashed the cave lions neck until he felt it go limp. Gavan threw the dead feline aside. Roughly pushing it into his nest. At least he had more food now. He shook his feathers and got comfortable in his nest. He fixed some twigs and branches here and there. He squatted down, resting his head under his small wing.
Saber stalked through the shadows of the forest, the sun beaming through every now and then. It was hot of course, but Saber was used to the heat. The large sabertooth tiger sneezed, shaking his head as he continued. As he walked, he listened to his surroundings. He could hear the cries of other animals such as the birds and hoofed prey. Saber passed a herd of mammoths just a mile ago, but he'd already had his fill, having taken down a baby paraceratherium. Saber licked his chops, still tasting the blood of the baby. Coming up on a large rock cropping, Saber trotted forward and leaped onto the rock. He surveyed his surroundings, noticing he was on a hill. He could see the forest below, the scenery beautiful. The large cat was on patrol and had to make sure his territory was safe and marked. He wouldn't allow any intruders unless they were female smilodons. Sniffing the air, Saber came upon a scent. A cave lion had made its home at the far southwest end of Saber's territory. Saber and the cave lion were rivals, going at it from time to time. Saber would keep coming back until the cave lion left or was forced out. Leaping down from the rock, Saber went into a sprint across the grass. He made his way down the hill, reaching the flat ground in seconds. He was closing in on the stream. Across the stream was the cave lion's cave. Today was the day Saber would force the lion out or kill it. Saber reached the stream, leaping over it and landing. He continued his sprint, heading straight for the cave. Saber could sense the cave lion was home. The cave lion was a male, having a sprout of small hair around his head. Saber was better equipped and stronger, though the cave lion could hold its own. Dashing into the cave, Saber roared, baring his saber teeth. Saber looked around, waiting for an ambush. The cave lion knew the cave well, obviously hiding. Saber was alert, watching every shadow. One moved suddenly, followed by a gush of wind. There was the cave lion. Saber leapt to the right, dodging the oncoming brute. Both feline predators roared at each other, baring their teeth. The cave lion lunged at Saber, but Saber charged forward, bowling into the cave lion's chest with a grumble. The cave lion hissed as it was slammed into the cave wall. Saber clawed mercilessly at the lion's chest and stomach, wanting the cat gone for good. Saber roared as the cave lion bit into his shoulder. Saber ended up tossing the cave lion into the air. The cat fell back down, jarring his side on the cave floor with a grunt. Saber growled, clawing the cave floor, raking his claws against the surface. The cave lion got to his feet, bleeding from chest to stomach. Saber only had one injury, and it was nowhere near a fatal wound. The cave lion  rushed at Saber. Saber leaped onto the wall and sprung from it quickly, tackling the cave lion to the ground with a roar. The two went into a roll for dominance. Thanks to Saber's bulk, he was stronger than the cave lion. The two released each other, getting to their feet and beginning to circle one another. Their ears were resting flat against their heads as they bristled. The cave lion's long tail whipped back and forth. This time, Saber rushed at the lion. The cave lion reared up and received a head butt to the chin, stunning him. Saber snarled and sent his right forepaw flying at the cave lion, striking the lion's jaw hard. The cave lion flew to the ground with a snarl. Saber pounced on the down cave lion. Raising his head and roaring, Saber brought down his head and sent his saber teeth into the cave lion's throat. The lion's windpipe was crushed and air supply destroyed. The cave lion kicked a few times, twitched some more, and soon went still. Saber released the lion after a while, wanting to make sure it was dead. He moved the body with his muzzle, satisfied that the deed was done. He dragged the body out the cave and rested it in the shadows on the bushes. Afterward, Saber walked down to the stream and took in his gulps of water, his enemy now vanquished.

Gavan smelt something unpleasant.  He raised his head from under his wing and raised his beak. Another feline? He could tell it wasn't  that close, but he still didn't want the creature's prescence near him. Blood also tanged the air, Gavan shook his head, a feather flying out, drifting to the floor. Gavan didn't have the time to deal with any more predators. He stood up and exit his nest. He turned around and fixed the entrance, and began looking around. He raised his beak again, taking in many scents. Forest, grass, cave, blood, feline. As long as no predators were near his nest, Gavan was fine.

Bite continued stripping meat off the basilosaurus carcass. He turned his head slightly, the larger male andrewscarchus had finished the sea turtle and was heading towards him. Bite quickly turned his attention back to the basilosaurus carcass. He began eating much quicker now. The young andrewsarchus hadn't eaten in quite a long time. A shadow loomed over him, Bite whimpered and slowly turned his head. A low growl was heard, before the young carnivore could turn around, he was grabbed by the neck and flung onto the sand. Bite yelped as he hit the sand, hard. His head landed straight on the bones of a dead fish. He wobbled up, shaking his head to wear off the dizziness. He raised his head, nose to nose with the other andrewsarchus. Bite yelped and quickly ran off.  He collasped on the hot sand, huffing for air. He turned his head, the larger andrewscarchus eating the last of the basilosaurus. Bite stood up again and walked up a small hill.  The sand now disappeared as he walked onwards, he was now on hard, dry soil. Where would he go now?

Ruina crouched at the edge of the tall grass, watching as a herd of Macrauchenia walked across the plains slowly making thier way to the edge of the water. She'd been crouching there for minutes though they felt like hour since the prey moved so slow, and it was taking forever for a baby macrauchenia to stray from its mother at the back of the herd. She was about to call it quits when the baby finally got within striking distance, quickly falling into a hunting postion, she crept forward slowly letting her muscles bunch a moment before spring forward taking a extra moment to hit full speed, she slammed into the calf at full speed causing it to call for its herd but it was to late. Ruina bit down on its windpipe crunchng till it was cut off completely, it died within moments but her troubles weren't over yet for night was falling bringing forth her only true enemy. A howl broke through noonday air one at first then many more joined, she raised her head fearfully "Dire Wolves." she whispered before biting down and ripping a leg from the corpse. Looking towards the trees she saw a pair of gold eyes watching, waiting she could since more stalking around her , her toes prickled when one stepped on a twig. All around her wolves broke through the grass, a black wolf lead the group, probably the Alpha . She knew that outrunning them wasn't an option due to the fact there were thirty of them and one of her, but maybe she could out climb them. Ruina turned and ran towards the tree line, she sped up slowly at first the all the way, aiming for a large tree seven tail lengths up. She hit the base and ran up the trunk, hitting the claw holds before sailing over the bottom branches and landing in the upper ones. She landed hard but she still had her macrauchenia leg and all her limbs plus a tail so this was a win, sitting her food down she leaned down through the branches and couted all the wolves circling below, she counted twenty-five. Ruina smiled a large toothy smile, she had survived another day even though she'd have to sleep in the tree she was still alive and that was enough for her.

Animals use sounds and body language to communicate.

Dire wolves are all the same color, your colors will range from tans to dark browns.

If you are a saber toothed cat, be careful with your saber fangs. They are much more fragile than you think, yyou can't use them toooooo much.

Gavan turned his attention to a howl split through the darkness. Gavan returned to his nest, still hearing loud howls, barks and yelps. The large bird pushed aside branches with his head and entered his nest. He nudged the branches back in place and sqatted down. He lay hid head atop of the dead cave lion. The smell of meat would attract predators. Gavan stood up and picked the dead feline up by its neck. He dragged the cave lion into the dense forest. Although he wasn't a fan of forests, he needed to get rid of this carcass. His belly was already full as well. Once he was far enough from his nest, he dropped the dead cave lion into a river. The howls and barks grew closer.
Bite looked around, he was now in a larger meadow, loud howls and barks spooking him. He already knew too well what it was. He raised his, what-was-supposed-to-be-large-head to the sky. He opened his jaws and scents drifted in. The stench of wolves burned his nostrils, and the scent of a feline, male and female, and also... a bird? He lowered his 'too small' head and continued walking across the meadow. He could hide easily in the tall grass, but he just couldn't hide his scent, his scent of fear. Barks and howls grew louder, Bite whined. He caustiously looked around, and loud bellow made him quickly turn around.  A paraceratherium loomed over the meadow. It's large feet booming on the ground. Bite needed a place to stay. He turned around once more and grw into a run. Since his head wasn't as big as it was supposed to be, he had an advantage in speed. He leaped over a macrauchenia carcass. As hungry as the poor pup was, he didn't have time to eat. The moon painted the grass with a small layer of white, providing a poor source of light.  Bite heard a loud growl, he knew it wasn't far either. He turned his head, and a large dire wolf loomed over him.
Silver crouched and watched the rest of the Dire Wolves howl. She lowered her head even more and watched one of them leave and follow something. Silver followed the other dire wolf, aware she wasn't supposed to. Then she saw a andrewsarchus, and the other one of her pack was getting close to it. She lowered herself and tried not to be scented by either one. What was she going to do? What was she going to do? She turned tail and ran back to the rest of her pack, silently whimpering all the way. When she got back, most of the wolves were staring at her, like she was crazy. Then she realized the problem. She quickly tucked her tail and flattened her ears and they turned around. She laid down and flattened her ears even tighter to her head.
Bite cowered down and whimpered. Something hit his mind like a train. He couldn't always be this weak. Bite stood up. He slowly walked back and raised his head. He snapped his jaws at the Dire wolf. It actually wasn't that big, it seemed big because he was cowering down. Bite began making mock lunges at the dire wolf, barking here and there. He growled, and lunged towards the other canine. Even though his head was msaller than it should be, he could still easily crunch/break an animal's limb/bone. Bite lunged towards the other canine, seizing its leg. He bit down as hard as he could until he heard a crunch.
Silver heard a few barks, and they were not from her pack. She went back to where she saw her packmate. She saw the Andrewsarchus atacking her packmate. She was about to go back but shook her head and watched as the Dire Wolf was whining and yelping. She growled and leaped on the Andrewsarchus, and immediately dug her claws into it. She couldn't get a good hold and she fell on her back. She whimpered and stared at the Andrewsarchus, waiting to get hurt badly by it. She shook so much her paws wouldn't let her stand on her paws if she tried.
