I sat under a bridge that I used to disappear off to back in the good old days, watching the stream. If I had seriously reacted that badly to a simple cut, then I might not be able to handle if I got hurt while going to the Asylum... and that would be terrible. This wasn't a simple playground thing, or a fun game like when Tony and Trent had dragged me into their game of bad cop good cop.

"You shouldn't hang onto the past. Suppose you should just give that hope up..?" Arby cooed the suggestion, as if expecting for me to say yes. I shook my head, then wondered if anyone would try to find me, most likely not.

Gumby quickly looked up, turning back into his or what he call's 'normal state'. "Hi Doctor! How are you?! I have not seen you for a long time!" Gumby said loudly. He had blood on his face, but still had that smile that he knew creeped the doctor out. "I was just having a snack if your wondering. I did what I normally do when you leave a body, I cook it, clean it, drained the blood. I do everything, so tell me, I hear there has been some new folks in town. Well I know for I have seen them, they finally destroyed that pathetic rabbit." Gumby continued. Rattlebones had a disturbed and creeped out look on his face. "Oh don't worry Rat! I bet you will find some one new to kill." Gumby said. Gumby licked blood off of his hands. "I actually need to talk to you about something." The doctor said. Gumby just looked up at him.

Tara wasn't sure if she wanted to meet Gumby yet, Gumby sounded scary... so she followed Raino to the bridge and hid in the bushes to watch him. She had seen him come here many times before. Before they had been locked in "HIS" mansion and experimented on. He never seemed to realize she had always been there watching him whenever he went here. And almost everywhere else he went, for that matter. Now that I think about it, I'm kind of a creep, stalking and spying on Raino all the time... she thought.

She decided to try to be brave and talk to him. She crept out into the open, went over there and stood beside him. "Um, hi... you're worried too?" she said. Then suddenly she felt stupid for coming out and talking to him, she worried he'd be angry. She wanted to run and hide again, but tried to restrain herself.

"I guess so..." I muttered, yanked out of my train of thought when she asked that. I got up to walk away before saying; "I don't get why you keep on following me around. do you have any reason to?" The question was directed namely at the fact how I seemed to bump into her a lot more then I would have called ordinary, almost as if she was following me around.

Arby made a light disapproving hiss of who's presence I was in, and I lightly nudged him as if to say 'don't worry, she's a friend' in which of course got Arby to just lightly growl at her.

Tara was about to answer when she heard Arby growl and hiss at her and she trembled, the Infection always made her nervous. Then she pulled herself together. "Um... I suppose it is a little odd I like to follow you... but that's what I've always been doing, since I first saw you in kindergarten..." Her voice trailed off. She realized she had probably said too much. Tara you idiot, now you've probably alienated him and he'll hate you more than ever... She hung her head.

"Er... I'm sorry for the way I've been acting, I suppose I must get kind of annoying..." she said. "Like, licking your cut hand, making it sting... And kissing you out of the blue... saying those stupid things... Getting jealous of Medussa and acting like a twit... Trying to stop you from seeing your family... I don't know why you didn't just let Arby eat me when... uh... anyway..."

"You're human, that's why I don't allow him to eat you, and the same reason why I forgive you. No matter your form or shape, it's what you do and how you act that makes you human, no matter how much he had changed you, you still act human, making mistakes like the rest of us." I said to her, attempting to be reasonable with what I say before adding "You thought that you were going to die, and that is the reason why I haven't did anything like punish you or avoid you after you... erm... kissed me."

Why would she bring up things that she didn't want to, I have no clue, but I looked at her as Arby seemed to glare at he with all of his eyes, the single huge white feather he had rose as if to say his disgust.

Arby was really freaking her out now... he looked really angry and disgusted, and looked like he wanted to gobble her up... She was trembling so hard now, she looked like she was vibrating. She was suprised at how easily Raino forgave her though, and was very moved.

"Um... er... yeah..." she stammered. "Well... thanks Raino... sorry again... And sorry for disgusting you Arby... Please don't eat me..."

She stood there with her head bowed. She had a feeling she should probably go now, but she didn't want to, even though she had a feeling she would end up in Arby's gullet if she didn't go.

She had the urge to kiss Raino's cheek or his hand, or give him a hug, or sit down and just lean against him and cuddle, but she was too scared to. And besides, he would probably just get angry if she did. She didn't want to ruin things just when he forgave her. But she still wanted to so badly... She felt so sad, lonely and empty inside not... She tried to get her mind off it, it was so stupid...

"Um... Do you think we should go meet Gumby now, or maybe later?" she asked him. "If you want to wait... er... did you mind if I just sat here with you for awhile? But if you want me to go, then I'll go..."

"You can sit if you want to, its not like I own this place." I said before sitting back down, I really didn't mind if she was there, besides, I was always used to at least one person like Trent or Tony with me almost all the time. when Trent was around, both of them acted like older brothers to me and always had kept an eye on me. By doing so, I was quickly drawn to knowing the feeling of another always being there. "Just... don't attempt to catch any of the stream fish, okay..?"

That single request came from me, the only thing that I really felt like I could keep safe at the moment was the fish in this stream, the same that I had stared in awe and wonder when I was younger.

"Don't worry, I won't," Tara said. "They're very pretty..."

She sat down next to Raino, trying her best to hide her fear from Arby but doing a lousy job of it, still trembling a bit, and watched the fish too. She knew Raino liked watching the fish. And since Tony and Trent had always been with him she knew he was probably used to having someone with him all the time, and that was probably why he was tolerating her. She was used to being alone, though, and felt awkward sitting here with him, rather than hiding from him like she normally did. But she liked this, so much it was embarrasing. Her heart was just pounding like mad...

She couldn't think of anything else to say, so for a long time there was silence.

Then she started inching closer and closer to Raino, heart pounding harder than ever and hoping he wouldn't notice, until she was leaning against his side. She shut her eyes and a blissful sigh escaped her. Then suddenly she realized how incredibly stupid she was to do this, she panicked, jerked herself away but fell off the bridge and landed head-first into the stream. The fish darted away in all directions. She popped her head out of the water and just lay where she landed, too embarrased to move, or to look at Raino. "Sorry..." she whimpered, and shut her eyes again, this time with shame.

I blinked and sat there like an idiot for a second, surprised at both the fact of the sudden splash and with Tara's move of leaning against me. "You okay?" I asked her, knowing that sometimes you could really harm yourself with falling off of this bridge. I knew that none of the fish would stay there and get hurt while she was in the stream, and none could of been hurt when she fell in. Putting my hands on the edge of the old bridge, I peeked over at her and repeated the question asking of if she was okay or not.

"You okay?" Tara heard him ask for the second time. She thought he'd laugh at her or tease her, she was suprised to hear the concern in his voice. She opened her eyes and saw he looked concerned too. And Arby still looked like he wanted to maul her to death, but she tried to ignore that.

"Oh... erm, I'm fine thanks," she said, giving her tail a small wag. She was a bit achey and bruised, but not seriously injured. She crawled out of the river and went back on the bridge. She didn't sit down again though, she just stood there and stared down at the stream. And she didn't let herself get too close to Raino again.

For a long time she was silent. She watched Raino and Arby out of the corner of her eye. "Arby sure treats you affectionately," she said to Raino, "you're lucky to have a friend like that, so fond of you and always by your side, literally. I think I'm actually kind of jealous..."

But then she felt rather stupid for saying that. Arby was a parasite. She thought of the dictionary definition of a parasite, "an organism living in or on another and benefitting at the expense of the other". How was Arby benefitting from Raino, she wondered, and how was Raino being harmed? She thought of how Arby was also called an "Infection", a disease. Then she thought of the pair's nickname, "Infected Corruption". Suddenly a shiver went down her spine. She thought of the definition of Corrupt: "Morally depraved, wicked" or "to make or become corrupt". So was this what Arby was doing, making Raino corrupt?! But why?! And how?!

Then Tara wondered if she should try to chew Arby off of Raino. It would obviously put Raino in excruciating pain, and he'd hate her forever if Arby didn't kill her before she could do it. And since Arby and Raino were so connected, it was possible Raino might die if she succeeded... No, it was far too risky... Doing it might save Raino, but it might also destroy him... She wouldn't scrap the idea, though, she would think about it and try to find out more about Raino and Arby's connection first.

Then she suddenly worried that Infected Corruption could somehow tell what she was thinking, and felt nervous.

"Um... I think I'll go see Rattlebones and Gumby now," she said to Raino, "I don't know if you want to come or not... If not, bye for now..." She wandered off to do that, but glanced over her shoulder to see if he would follow or not.

Arby's eyes narrowed at her, able to smell her fear because-- well, everyone knows that people and creatures sweat whenever they're afraid. And frankly, I could smell her too from all the way over here. Not attempting to be rude or anything, I suddenly perked up and asked "Um, Tara,.. do you think that you could get some deodorant?"

Arby perked up at the mention at that word, and looked at me as if he hadn't heard of it, then I remembered that he obviously hasn't. I then noticed that I probably embarrassed her. "Tara... could I tell you something? Tony doesn't know it. No one else knows it. It has to do with Trent."

"Um, Tara... do you think you could get some deodorant?"

Tara felt herself blushing under her fur. "Oh... um, tee hee, I guess I must smell like a wet dog..." But she spoke so quietly Raino probably couldn't hear her. She hung her head, ashamed again.

Then she heard him say, "Tara... could I tell you something? Tony doesn't know it. No one else knows it. It has to do with Trent."

"Really? Please tell me!" Tara said. "I'll go sit in the water, maybe that'll drown out my smell a bit."

So she did, she went back in the stream and lay down with only her face sticking out and gazed up at Raino, waiting to hear.

"Tara, I think that right now if you go into there it might only make you smell even more like a wet dog." I said holding back a laugh from her acting this way. I let out a sigh, then said "Anyways... what I wanted to tell you is that Arby... I didn't name him. Trent did. He... he was the first one with Arby, but... well, you saw his corpse right? It... it looked like a bucket of acid was poured on him... Arby did that. Arby isn't my own, Arby is Trent's. That is why he died, Arby... rejected him." I explained, explaining something that I was afraid that I myself would end up like.

"So... please don't say that you're jealous of our bond. Arby consumed Trent to were he could be mine. I blame myself everyday because of this fact, and..." I trailed off, there was something that Trent asked me to tell Tara. And time for the big news;

"Trent had asked me to tell you when and if we survive, that he had a crush on you. He wasn't sure if you liked him, and didn't want to act like a love sick fool. So that is his message, and in a way I am his messenger." Arby seemed to perk up on the mention of that, and made a purring noise, nudging me.

"Don't be afraid of me, Rain,.." Arby cooed at me. "Trent was the one who didn't like me. Thats why I ate him. Ate him alive."

Tara had already went in the water when Raino said to her, "Tara, I think right now if you go back in there it might only make you smell more like a wet dog."

"Oh," said Tara. She sheepishly crawled out of the stream again and lay down on the bank. And sure enough, she smelled worse than ever.

Then she listened to Raino.

When he finished speaking, she was in shock. It was all too horrible...

"No..." she said in a weak voice, shaking her head, "no..." There was nothing else she could say... Tears started pouring down her face, and her stinky wet dog body started quaking violently with wracking sobs. She started crying, and couldn't stop.

The Fallen, And The Forgotten
Setting

His mansion and the huge basement where we were kept for 2 years. Has an indoor pool, and over 50 rooms in total, 47 of them in which are locked.

The Courtyard -

A large Courtyard surrounding the Mansion, over grown with weeds because of too little care. It extends out into the forest.

The Forest -

A large forest, with many trees in it and five clearings, only two of them in which are large. It has forest critters of all kinds, including deer.

The City -

One of the other places we once called home. The only other place was one of the farmlands. It is too large for people to continue to look for people more then a year and a half after they disappear, yet small enough for most of the social people to know nearly everyone.

Farm Lands -

Three farms, each in which have a huge corn or wheat field could have been one of our homes, even though two of them have been sold to someone else in the past year.

The Old Windmill -

Broke down 7 years ago; is now residence to mold, damp environments, and mice.

Plot

He is the fallen;

And we are the forgotten.

At First it seemed like just a game; a sweet party with our dearest of friends; Trent. His birthday had come up and we were over at his house for the party, to congratulate and spend some time with him. Everything on our end was just perfect-- then came Trent's father. He seemed almost like a predator, the way he was extra friendly with us, the look in his eyes when we accepted the drinks...

That man offered us to stay for the night. He had enough rooms, he said. Like the fools we were we accepted, some of us will never forget that smile he made...

2 years and we haven't seen the sunlight after that night. Yet one day, while checking up on us, he dies. His keys slip out, and we have the chance to be free yet again.

But the question remains;

Could we be accepted even though we are what we are now?

History

Trent was one of the first to die throughout the experiments, and he died a month after they begun. It was fall when his birthday was, meaning that it is yet again fall, 2 years afterwards.

You have been stuck and experimented on for two years until 'he' died. Now you have the chance to escape, but the scars and marks run deep on you.
