Apophis, other wise known as Apep, is the god of chaos. He and Ra were aincent enemys and everyday Apophis would try to swallow the sun. Occasionally, Apophis succeeded and swallowed the sun (today it is known as a solar eclipse) and the world would go dark. However, Ra escaped with the help of the other gods. He asumes the form of a giant serpent.
