Clayton turned to face the building. It was a large structure that was longer than it was wide. It seemed kinda busy inside because you could see all the people from looking in with the windows.

"That's the messhall. You get two meals a day unless you have a job that requires a lot of energy, then you get three." Clayton said. He started walking again as he talked. "You have to give your name and your number to get anything so that they can make sure no one is double dipping." He said, he looked at Maria and smiled softly. "They will give you a number, I am sure they know you are new."

Clayton open the double doors to the building. There was a small line to the food and Clayton stopped at the end of it.

Maria followed him in, interested already. She could feel a change in atmosphere as soon as she walked into the building - it was full of energy. Part of her thought that it might soon become her favorite place. There was much to watch in terms of other slaves, and one of her favorite past times was people-watching. Already she was glancing around the room to see if anyone caught her eye.

"What kind of slaves get to work in the mess hall? They must be trusted enough not to steal any food, I would imagine," she said to Clayton as her eyes roved the line before them.

"Oh no no," Clayton said. "No slaves work here. It is too likely they would steal or let a friend have extra. Only paid humans work in here." He explained. He stepped forward when the person in front of him got her food and left. There was a person at a computer. She had long blonde hair and thick bright red lipstick. She looked extremely bored and looked at Clayton with disinterest. "Name and number." She said flatly. "Clayton and ah..." Clayton looked down at his hand were he had scribbled numbers on his skin using a ink pen. The women sighed deeply and rolled her eyes "Sorry. 153703." Clayton said quickly. It took the women about two minutes to type in the information and get the bag for Clayton. It was a small brown paper bag but it looked somewhat heavy.

Maria watched Clayton carefully, highly amused at his forgetfulness and note taking system. She was begining to like him more and more.

His personality's adorable, she thought to herself, trying not to smile.

She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do, but she stepped up next to him and glanced over the worker, silently disgusted by her own boredom. Anyone who worked should enjoy doing it or quit - that was her philosophy. If she had less of a filter and more of a love for trouble she would have said something snarky to the woman, but she bit her tongue and waited her turn.

"Um." Clayton started. The women looked up and stared at him with sharp eyes. "What? Is there a problem?" She said harshly. Her voice was high pitched and slightly annoying. Clayton flinched and lowered his head in submission. "N-no, Maria here," he gestured to Maria. "She just got here, so, um, she doesn't have a number yet." The women's glare turned on Maria. She narrowed her eyes in suspicion. She then went typing away at her computer for a few minutes without speaking. "You are 17743. Now take your food and go." She said rudely. Clayton nodded quickly and looked to Maria. He had a look of urgency. "Thank you, we'll be on our way." He said, his words a little rushed.

Maria gave her a sickeningly sweet smile that had a touch of venom to it before thanking her and following Clayton. She clutched her brown paper bag in her hands, wondering what kind of food was inside.

"I'm sorry that woman was so terrible. She's the kind of person I can't stand. I don't understand how anyone could be so rude to someone as sweet as you," Maria said huffily, her eyes narrowed in irritation.

She was starting to feel protective of Clayton, something she really couldn't help. She felt he was too innocent and kind for the world, as if it were her job to preserve his goodness.

Clayton walked down the messhall. He passed many places they could sit, but he did not stop. There were more than one person around like Orca and he rather not sit near them.

"Don't be sorry, you can't control her!" Clayton said. He smiled and laughed softly. "She hates all of our guts." He said. Finnally he found a place where they could both sit. He sat down and opened his bag. The usual food was stored inside. A ham sandwhich, an apple and a small bottle of water. He took the food out and flattened his bag so it surved as a kind of plate. He then set up his food on it.

Maria sat across the table and followed his lead in setting up her meal. She stared the food, rather impressed with the quantity. Her time in the pound had made her thankful for any sort of food.

She folded her fingers and placed her elbows on the table, resting her chin on the back of her hands and staring intently at Clayton through her bangs.

"It's my turn now - what do you want to know? If I can't give you a satisfactory answer then you get to ask more questions until you're happy," she said, curious as to what he might ask.

Clayton took a bite of his sandwhich then looked over at her in suprise.
"This isn't really the best place for that." He warned. There were many people around and talking about the outside world could cause them to think they were planing an excape. Clayton did not trust that they would not tell. Also such a topic could attract people like Orca.
Without looking too hard Clayton could easily spot two of them. They were Sharp and Tike. It seemed like all of the slaves that were charged with the job of peacekeeping had unusual names. It was part of the job, he guessed.

She stared at the distracted eyes of her new friend. "Well then, I'll ask another question - what are you staring at?"

Maria had a sudden flashback to her time at the training school. She'd never really had friends, but there were some that were something close to that. They had always been amazed by her observational powers - 'Can you read minds?' - and refused to believe that she didn't have a gift in addition to being a werewolf, though none of them had ever heard of something like that before. It wasn't that she knew things, she just noticed them and hoped she would as the right question in concern to it. Sometimes she messed up - 'What are you thinking?' 'What? No, I was just falling asleep.' 'With your eyes open?' 'Yep, I do that sometimes...'.

It had been the thing that had kept her alive for so long.

Clayton didn't realize he was staring and he very quickly looked down at his food.

"Oh, well I just like to know where all the watchers are. They are the ones who keep everyone in order, like him." Clayton said. He was referring to Orca, but didn't want to actually speak his name.

"I just feel better when I know my surroundings, you know?" He said. Clayton took another bite of his sandwhich then sat it down. He breathed in deeply then said,

"There is quite a lot of them. There isn't a way to tell them apart, you just got to learn who is who."

Maria's face lit up with a wicked smile and said, "It sounds like a game, don't you think? Spot the watcher - I like that."

She bit into her sandwich carefully slowly chewing in thought. She liked savoring her food, especially since it wasn't something that had been provided much for her during her time in the pound. It had taught her to prize it.

"It's good you're sensitive to your surroundings. That's a skill that can save you no matter where you are. Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to survival, something you should always remember. But! What's our next step?"

Clayton laughed. In a way, he had played the game Maria was calling 'spot the watcher'. His mother had taught him very early on how important it was to either stay on the watcher's good side or stay away from them competely. She wanted him and his siblings to know who all the watchers were and do be able to figure out the new ones.

"I guess we could just walk around and I'll tell you about each building. We'll stop at the important ones." Clayton said. There were many places that were only important if you had a sertan job. Since Maria had no set job yet he would just have to point those kinds of places out.

Medical emergency areas and forbidden areas were the most important to know about in Clayton's optinion.

Walking around the estate seemed like fun in her opinion - Maria loved to stretch her legs, especially outdoors.

"It sounds rather diverting. When do you suppose I'll get my job? I'm eager to know where I'll be stationed."

In fact, getting her job was something Maria had been looking forward to since she had been bought the day before. It was a new opportunity to gain skills that she lacked or spend time with people she could glean information from. Where she was stationed would determine wheter she had the upper hand in escaping or not and what kind of influence she would have over other slaves.

"You'll be tested on the skills you already know and you'll get a job depending on that. If your skills are not needed, for example if there are already enough people in that job, you'll be trained for something else." Clayton explained. "Most likely that'll happen later today or tomorrow."

Clayton finished his food and he put his apple core and empty bottle in the brown bag. He stood up and walked to a trash can to dispose of it.

"Sometimes master comes to those, and since you were bought from the pound and not born here, I think it is more likely for him to come for you." He said.

The Pound
Setting

The facility has walls lined with cells, each consisting of three concrete walls, a bare floor, a low ceiling and a wall of clear acryilic which faces the aisle and doubles as a door.

Presently, it's morning and the pound as just opened up for the day.

Plot

The world is such that is condones slavery-- of gifteds, werewolves, vampires and the like. The slave trade is a booming industry, making millionaires within months. Everyone has their own reasons for owning the creatures, some require extra help around the house, others see it as a way to display their wealth, and still others buy them just for the pleasure of breaking them.

As with all things, some people grow tired of their slaves. Now, selling them would take time and energy that some either don't have or are unwilling to waste it on a slave. That is where the 'pound' comes in. They take the discarded slaves, no questions asked and sell them for cheap.

History

Rules

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PLOT WAS NOT MADE UP BY ME!

This roleplay as copied straight from another roleplay from a website called MaraPets. The person who made this roleplay is called Rainkit. Do not give me credit for this, as I did not think of it.

Also please note that I do not in anyway think that slavery is okay in real life!

You may join as a human, gifted, werewolf or vampire.

Humans are never slaves.

Please keep the number of humans and slaves around even, without both of them the roleplay doesn't work.

Don't make slaves with extreamly dangerous powers, they would have been killed, not sold as slaves.

The point of the roleplay is not to stay in the pound, humans should come in and buy slaves then take them home. It is the person who is controling the human's responsabilty to create a setting. For example a farmhouse, or a big expensive house.

Don't make masters who treat their slave's as equals, its over used and quite frankly, really boring.

You can make a slave who was born into slavery or has never spend a day of their lives as slaves, just make up a good reason why they were never caught.

A quick note on slave breeding. First off don't roleplay anyone doing the deed please!

Second, for werewolves they will give birth to a litter rather than a single child. This is because they cannot change from human to wolf while pregnate or they'll kill their children. Since full moon forces a change, they got to stay as a wolf 100% of the time while pregnate. The litter will be born as pups and will stay as pups until about a month or so until they can shift to their human form.
