Twilight stared at Juck as he ran into the jungle. "What the feathers is he doing?!" she yelled aloud. She decided to follow him. She ran behind him, so he couldn't see her. When they got to the volcano, they could smell the hot, burning rock. Twilight caught up with juck. "So, what gem are we looking for?" she asked, scaring him. He shrugged. Twilight looked at him strange. Twiligth looked and saw that about half way up the mountain, was a cave entrance. "That looks like a good place for a gem..." she said. She looked at Juck then back at the cave. She saw a large shadow, but there was nothing to have a shadow. She looked closer. It was a ship! It was using a cloaking device!
Juck suddenly remembered which gem was here. "Wisdom" He told her. "He hid behind a tree, and asked Kyle whether they should take the volcano on the right, or the one on the left. Since wisdom was the bane of luck, and Kyle said left, Juck brought the others down into the right cave, going down the hall inside. "Now," He said quietly, in a voice that suggested he was in thought, "We don't want to be fooled by any tricks of this place. Whatever they suggest, whatever you see, whether it's family, the gem or many gems, lost objects, memories, or even... Home..." Juck choked over this word "Don't give in. Just stay the course, and we'll find the gem. And above all, we can't get sepparated. Understand?"
Twilight nodded and they continued walking. When they were far into the cave, Twilight started hearing voices. "What? did you say something!?" She asked Juck. he shook his head. They continued on and she felt like she was being watched. She looked around. She saw in a corner a strange pale green goblin-like thing. "Ahh! Whats that!" She pointed to where the thing was, but it was gone. They continued on and Twilight felt like she was seeing things. She didn't see Juck anymore, instead she saw another kiwi. She tried looking closer but it was a blur. Her eyes went wide and firey, she thought Juck was another kiwi! "Hey get back here!" She ran full of rage toward Juck. She pulled out her sword and tried to slash Juck but he dodged it. "What is wrong with you!?" he yelled. She ignored it and continued her rampage. "If you think I forgot what you did to me, you're dead wrong!" Juck looked confused but dodged right before Twilight could slit his throat. Juck tried to tackle her but it was no use. She was completly insane. Twilight continued yelling at him and trying to strike. She finally pulled out her gun and tried to shoot him, but was too confused to get a good shot. Sunstreak finally joined in and they managed to tackle the crazed Twilight. "Ahh! Get off of me!" She threw them off so violently, that Sunstreak was knocked out. Twilight grinned and came closer to Juck grasping her sword. All of a sudden, the lion came running in and rammed into Twilight. She screamed in pain as she hit the cave wall, and fell unconscious. Juck stood shocked....
Sunstreak had somehow, almost unconsciously, left the guardian creature and the horrible cave, and found her freinds. When she attacked Twighlight, it felt as though someone else's mind was controlling her. When Sunstreak was knocked out, she had a strange, foggy half-dream where she seemed to be flying. She saw many creatures, objects, and familar birds floating around in a strange sort of calm. Suddenly, Sunstreak saw something that made her heart skip a beat. She screamed with joy and then woke up, still screaming. She quieted and then noticed Twighlight unconcious on the floor. Sunstreak ran to wake her up. "I found another possible way to get both our familes back and fix other things as well-" She was interrupted by a cracking, groaning sound from the cieling above. It was getting hotter as well.
"It's all a lie!" Juck yelled at them. "Don't you see!?! THERE IS NOTHING TO SEE! The wise play tricks on foes, as to not get hurt themselves! No matter waht you see, don't get emotional, or angered, and don't atack anything! For all you know, you could be shattering the gem!!! Understood!?!" Juck yelled at them, angry with them for being so easily fooled. "You! Grace!" he said, pointing at Twilight, "If you don't use all that elegance to escape the illusions, we are all doomed. Grace defeats wisdom, remember? I'm not actually sure why though. We have escaped the worst of the illusions, due to not using Kyle's directions, but this is the tip of the iceberg from even those! So, from now on, detach yourself, react to nothing at all, react to only three things, a. the gem, b. kyle's directions, don't follow them, and c. traps and such, those are usually real."
Twilight got up and rubbed her head. She nodded at Juck's lecture and they continued walking. She did still sometimes see that strange green creature. When they got to a large cave crossroad, they stopped. "Which way?" Twilight asked. Twilight could see a faint light coming from one of the tunnles. Everyone else noticed it too. Then they heard a loud, blood curdling scream. They jumped at the sound of that. "Wh-who's there?" Twiligth said in a studdering voice. A large creature crawled out. It was unlike anything they had ever seen. It was the dragon! It put it's enourmous head level to them and inhaled, then breathed out. The room was filled with the smoke from the dragons lungs.
Sunstreak screamed as large chunks of rock and dirt came falling from the ceiling. It was an earthquake of some kind, she supposed. Suddenly a non-rock shaped object tumbled down and hit the floor with a thud. Sunstreak recognized the dirty blood stained kiwi, Star, who took off running down a tunnel. "Hey what's going on? Why are you running?" Sunstreak asked, suddenly awake. She could now hear voices yelling and kiwi feet thudding not far away. She faintly heard Star yell something about the thuggee kiwis. Sunstreak suddenly remembered the terrible ritual and took off after Star. "Hey wait up!" She yelled.
Star kept running, slowing down because of her rock clanking on anything in sight. He looked behuind her shoulder horrified. "They.... they are coming! They will kill us all!" She sounded horrified as well as she looked, her blue eyes were wide with terror and her her beak was gaped open as she was panting and gfighting back a scream. She gulped and thought of letting go of the rock.. remembering all the horrible things these evil kiwis can do. The protests screame in her head not too... but she was second guessing. As she ran, she looked over at Sunstreak for answers on which she should keep the last reminder of her parents, or let it go asnd run for her life.
Sunstreak raced back, for she had gotten a little bit ahead. "Just drop it! drop the rock!" She whispered. Before Star could let go, a huge piece of rock dropped behind them. They heard a sickening crunch as it fell on the thuggee kiwis. Sunstreak just stared. She felt terrible, even though it wasn't her fault that they got crushed. Star was gasping for breath and clutching her rock. Suddenly Sunstreak heard a loud moaning sound. It wasn't from the direction of the large, fallen rock, it was from something else.....Sunstreak went to go investigate. Star just stood gripping the rock tighter and tighter.
Kari had long since been forgotten on the ship. She had waited patiently for several hours and then given up. Her newfound friends had abandoned her, just like the last group she had been with. Kari finally climbed to the top of the ship and stood precariously in the wind. Suddenly one of the dragon birds, a big one, flew into sight. Kari felt no fear. She had seen how freindly these creatures could be. It swooped down and grabbed her in its taloned feet, and flew off in the direction of the volcanoes. Kari actually enjoyed the ride, seeing everything from high up. The dragon bird flew low over one of the volcanoes. Kari smelled something alive amongst the burning rock and lava. "Sunstreak? Sunny! Sunny!" She though happily. The dragon bird gently set her down on a tall cliff overlooking a huge, gaping hole, and flew off with a loud squawk. Kari wasn't sure what to do now. Sunstreak smelled closer, but not close enough. She quickly dashed behind a rock as the thuggee kiwis passed, yelling and cursing in another language. Kari followed them closely, curious as to what they were so mad about. She watched horrified as they chased her beloved Sunstreak and a strange white kiwi inside the hole. Kari whimpered and kicked a small boulder in frustration. There was nothing she could do! Suddenly there was a rumbling. Rocks began to slide down the cliff, gaining momentum and heavier rocks as it went.
Star watched in amazementn as the small kiwi leaped down and cuddled next to Sunstreeak. Star's beak gaped and she stared at the small kiwi for a few seconds, dazed and amazed. Then she looked at Sunstreak then said, "She killed them?" She saw Sunstreeak nod and Star felt humbled that such a small kiwi could kill off at least most of them and she couldn't even kill one. She couldn't even injure one. SHe sighed and facepalmed herself in frustration. She was still glad that she was hanging onto her rock, which she was cradling like a baby now.
Juck continued on, nothing dettering him. He walked straight through the dragon, and on the other side of the mirage was clear air. He simply shook his head at the antics of the others. This was serious. The temple was obviously using the most horrifying thing from their past against them, and adding in a few other things as well. Suddenly, Juck stopped dead in his tracks. They were obviously using it against him but... It was the R.I.C (You'll see what that is later) Juck built for himself in his childhood, powered down! Everyone else had called it a monster and destroyed it... Juck fingered the charger he had on hand, and then slowly forced his gaze away and took a step down the path to the left. He couldn't let this deter him.
"We need to get out of here as soon as possible. I think the volcano is erupting," Sunstreak said to Star. Kari refused to leave her for even a second. Sunstreak was glad to have the young kiwi back with them.
Sunstreak led the way that she thought would take them out of the maze-loke volcano, but it seemed to keep leading to dead ends. She was getting worried. It seemed to be getting hotter, and the other kiwis were exhausted. Suddenly Sunstreak thought she saw Twighlight and ran to go meet her, but she faded as soon as Sunstreak got close. It was an apparition. "Probably a result of the intense heat" She thought. Suddenly yelling could be heard down one darkened pathway. Star ran over toward it and the others followed.
Star stared down absent-mindedly. It looked so weird. A strange kiwi, with blood all over it, it was gray. She squinted her eyes and saw it was maimed in ways unimaginable! She sighed. A zombie kiwi? Here? She gulped, afraid of this kiwi. XZombie Kiwis were very dangerous. Dead kiwis that by some strange magical power in the Earth, can come back to life. They were hard to kill, and, if they could, they could awaken others from the dead. SHe stared at SUsntreak, and tried to not worry Kari. "Look." She hoped she wouldn't have to explain the zombie kiwi to Sunstreak.
Juck had finally regianed his previous pace, when a zombiw kiwi came out of nowhere! Kyle jumped it, and, instead of biting it, constricted it, then bit it multiple times, illustrating the many talents of the huge, deadly glide-snakes. Kyle, however, did not eat it. That would have infected Kyle. The only reason he could bite it was because he didn't actually put his mouth on it, only his fangs, which he threw some of their precious water on after wards. Suddenly, the tortured kiwi moved! And, on the other side of the kiwi, he saw the others! "He nodded towards them, and took out a plasma cannon, and even though it had low charge, the effect splattered at least a third of the zombie kiwi across the room. Once again, the tortured, maimed, horrible, and now plasma burned corpse picked itself up off the ground and started to go for Ria. Juck infered that Robins must A. be easy to kill, and B. make good zombies.
