It was around 4 in the morning, and I was having the spirit equivelant of sleep. Pretty much I was just sitting in a floating orb and thinking about the questions of the universe. Then I was rudely poked awake by my master, yours truly an annoying psycopath, Carmen.

"Get up, you lazy, stinking blob of what I cannot believe is supposed to be a spirit."

Yep, that is her way of saying good morning, each time it's a new insult. I would normally reply with a scathing remark, probably something about her know-it-all attitude or ginger hair, but it was satisfaction enough to sit there and annoy her.

"Yeah, yeah. So, what's the mission today? Lying on the couch? Getting the groceries? I'm sure it's a terrifying and totally world-saving buisness that is too hard for you to do yourself." I unfolded into a flat, floating mist somewhat like paper. I wasn't used to being made of essence, and trying to form yourself is a rather hard buisness. It's like trying to control the functions and appearance of a puppet all at once, while trying to move them perfectly too. It's a tricky thing to do, but I started to get the hang of it after meeting up with an older, more experienced spirit on a mission on a boat.

As a spirit, your whole being is made of flowing, warping magic, and, when summoned to the human realm, it makes us look and feel like floating goop. But hey, I'm a dignified, handsome floating goop. Anyways, the older spirit said that it's easier to control your essence if you get used to all the bodily function and controls, and if you know how to use them. Pretty much I'm a noob at the 'video game' of essence, and I need a bit more time and experience to turn into anything less humiliating.

Carmen scowled and ignored me, stomping down from her bedroom and out the house door. Really, for 18, she was quite spoiled child. I mean, house, wardrobe of Hogwarts wizards' robes, big-paying job and a spirit under her service? And why did it have to be me?

The skies of Paris seemed bored of periwinkle blue, and reverted to a grouchy-looking, blocky bunch of thunderclouds. It wasn't raining yet, but a storm was brewing. It reflected Carmen's typical mood perfectly. Either way, I silently thanked the gray skies for covering all the light; long exposure to sunlight for a spirit is about ten times worse than a human with a bad sunburn. Technically, we start melting.

Before the young witch stepped out onto the dingy street, she glared over at me. Oh, right. Humans can see spirits easily if we stay materialized as a physical object, like me trying to stay as a blob, but we can release our essence into the area around into various living things. It's a natural talent, thank goodness, and it makes us invisible to humans (Unless our essence flows into them) and easy, though scattered, to travel around or spy in. Carmen keeps a cage with a moth in her pocket so that I can travel in it. It takes a lot of control to keep the moth from dying when I go inside it, and it always wants to fly into the nearest lampost when I do.

I flowed into the moth's brain, although it still gives me the shivers when I do it. She opened the container and I silently flew onto her shoulder, ignoring the moth's weak desire to fly away. Carment stepped onto the side walk and continued on her way.

After a quick stop at a cafe for breakfast (In which I let the moth suck on a partiall soaked sugar cube) The french girl stopped at a tall, dark and foreboding-looking manor. Then she decided to explain my next mission.

"This is the manor of a very famous magician. They have recently took a magical item from the museum that I" (She made a very sour face when she started talking about her self-woes) "found in the first place. Tommorow night at midnight, I want you to go in there and steal it. It looks like an ivory elephant; you should be able to find it easy enough. And do not get caught. But if you do, don't reveal me or mention my name, or I'll give you a Cross Fire."

Not like it wasn't enough pressure to steal from a famous (and most likely well-guarded) magician, but did she really have to mention punishment if I was captured? They'd probably punish me in their house if they found me anyways.

I do no' like the men that me master works with nor I am so to say fond of me master 'imself.Jose, a man with sharp eyes-deadlights- and a lump of ice on the place where his heart 's suppose to be.These humans are nothin' more than mere criminals who have banded together to gain power, money and fame by exploitin' the innocent, the weak...I have experience with people like that.

It makes me sad.Centuries have passed and still nothin' has really changed; intimidatin',armed men are still roamin' the seas and land, stealin' and destroyin' wherever they go. It 's jus' so-...

The clothes I am forced to wear are drivin' me crazy. For some reason-probably just to pester me- me master prefers me to stay in a solid form, visible for ever'one in the room to see.But it is hard to keep it up for such a large amount of time and I struggle.Me master does no' notice, he never does.Yet when I fail, he does and punishes me thoroughly.
Still, compared to gettin' flogged, keelhauled or being forced to kiss the gunner's daughter, me master punishments are one of those things that I take fo' granted.

It keeps gettin' harder to suppress the naggin' urge to switch back into me blob-like form. When I am like that it is jus' easier and it consumes less energy.

Some men are leavin'.I am relieved but it does no' last long; me master makes a motion for me to come.Furiously hopin' that he will no' order me to blown a man down, I draw near.

''Aye, me master.''I speak and I can see his eyebrows twitch slightly. He does no' like me way of speakin'.I am too stubborn to change that or perhaps I just do no' want to, just to annoy 'im.It is me only way of havin' a bit of fun.

Me master goes straight to the point.''We need information. You're going to gather that information.''He does no' wait for me to accept or decline, I jus' have to obey 'im.

''Aye aye sir!''I understand and will obey.

Light and Dark
Setting
A modern-day country on earth, somewhere like England or France, not like Saudhi Arabia. This is where your main 'mission base' is located. You are a Master or spirit, and you will rather send your spirit on missions all over the world while trying to act as a normal person and not be discovered, or a spirit, trying to figure out what is going on, how to shapeshift and keep your two sides under control while being sent on dangerous missions all over the world.
Plot

You used to be human, living a normal life, then one day you died. Your spirit could not move on, and you were split into two sides; hate and love, or good and evil, and you were sentenced to judge those who came before you. But then, one day, you escaped.

You were summoned. You are now a master or a spirit and you control the spirit or your master controls you. While still trying to figure out what is going on and how to control your two sides, your master keeps sending you out on orders in modern day Earth and keeping you manifested in a human form to appear normal.

Watch out. Danger is all around you, prying eyes and manipulating masterminds, ready to destroy you at any moment.

Or assimilate one of your sides.

History

You are a spirit, an embodiment of good and evil. If you keep the balance between your two sides, than you can stay as you are, nuetral, but if your balance is disturbed, than your spirit will become corrupted.

You used to be human, but when you died, you were chosen for some reason. You became a judge, a protecter of peace. You were forced to choose what was evil or what was good, based on your two sides, and punish or release those who were judged.

You could not pass on.

But then, one day, you were taken again, for reasons you don't understand.

Now, you are a spirit or a master.

If your dark side takes over, you become a demon, a spiteful, corrupted soul that cannot see how anything, no matter how bad it is, can be evil.

If your good side takes over, you become a wisp, a being that is overcome with a lust for power and sees itself as a godlike being, seeing a right to judge anyone or anything because it is good.

Rules

No controlling anothers character, unless you have permission.

You can be the master to another players character if they are a spirit and they agree.

Keep swearing/violence/sexual themes/profanity to a minimum

If you are a master, you have a normal life, but like a wizard in a secret society in modern-day earth.

If you are a spirit, you can be from any civilized time before you died, and you can start from there if you want. When you die, you are split in two sides, hate and love or good and evil, but soon you are summoned by a master in a pentacle. You are the medium,  or the balance, and you good and evil sides are the weight on each one. As a spirit, you can shapeshift, but if your master summons/orders you, then you cannot disobey, however, a lot of spirits can find loopholes...

You can make up to 4 characters; two masters and two spirits, or two extras, such as a familiar or a human.

Enjoy!
