Win32/Alureon is a family of data-stealing trojans. These trojans allow an attacker to intercept incoming and outgoing Internet traffic in order to gather confidential information such as user names, passwords, and credit card data. It may also allow an attacker to transmit malicious data to the infected computer. The trojan may modify DNS settings on the host computer to enable the attacker to perform these tasks. As a result, it may be necessary to reconfigure DNS settings after disinfection.

Instances of the Win32/Alureon trojan may contain various malicious components. The following are three examples of these components:

One component of the Win32/Alureon family specifies the DNS servers to be used by the host computer. To do so, this component sets DNS server addresses for each network adapter on the host computer by modifying values in certain registry subkeys associated with the adapters. For example, the trojan component may:

Collected, calm and quiet, Alueron.J is a product of heterosis in the case of her mother. Though lacking genetic enhancement for positive carriers, the resulting chick was bred from offspring of clones to further ones which renders her bloodline complex, intricate and currently under study for the effects of hybridization. She is a prime example of a transgressive phenotype and her 'coding' is rather stable for such a specimen. She does have her moments of outburst, but being prodded and contained for such long periods must have its annoyances, understandably.

Has not manifested the capacity of speech yet, but is rather clever and disinterested in socialization. Prefers much more to watch, observe, listen and process knowledge from others. Thirsty for comprehension, she is a quick learner and occasionally a smart alec in mannerisms. We are grateful that she has not tapped into her capacity for malicious intent just yet, but the drive for destruction could snap within any given second. If this occurs, it is likely to become irreversible.
